CHARACTER
Name: Johnny Rayflo
Canon: Vassalord
Age: Unknown
Timeline: Chapter 7: "The Incubus Calls Your Name Once"
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Despite being known as a 'ruthless killer' by the Vatican, Johnny Rayflo is actually a caring soul who deeply regrets losing his humanity. Johnny is a conflicted man damned for all eternity. It's this regret that defines him ultimately as a person. Johnny is known to wear many masks in hopes of concealing his pain. One minute he's the seductive playboy, the next he's the aloof vampire. He'll sometimes help others but hates receiving charity. Johnny makes it a habit of distancing himself. Whether it's by his flirtatious demeanor or his somewhat sarcastic attitude; Johnny doesn't like getting too close to others. He's scared of letting people into his dark world. Johnny doesn't believe that being a vampire is a 'gift' but he knows he can't ever be human again. He relishes the power and strength he has now and knows he cannot survive without it.

Johnny's a very private individual. He often avoids speaking about his past and put up airs when people ask. This aspect of his personality utterly frustrates Charley who, for better or for worse, wants to understand his Master. However, Johnny makes it difficult for anyone to sympathize him because of his standoffish attitude. Between all his 'fake smiles' and sexual innuendos, there's little wonder why they don't get along well. Johnny doesn't want people to get close to him, period. With Barry constantly chasing him and his own self-hatred, Johnny believes it's best for him to remain alone. He doesn't want anyone else to be sucked into his problems and ultimately fears Charley's judgement of him. Johnny lingers in guilt about Charley and goes out of his way to protect him. He wants do whatever he can to keep Charley safe even if it means pushing him away.

His reckless and flamboyant lifestyle is a topic of great controversy for those who know him. He always places the well-being of others above himself and doesn't seem to care whenever he gets injured or hurt. Johnny always has self-disparaging things to say about himself, and doesn't seem to mind living up to people's limited expectations. He honestly doesn't believe his life holds any meaning but still maintains his faith that somehow Heaven will still want him. I suppose you could say he's somewhat 'suicidal' in that aspect, but Johnny doesn't have what it takes to kill himself.

Despite his inner workings and personality seemingly always at conflict, Johnny doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeve. His usual demeanor is very playful and impish, almost childlike at times. He's a mischievous bastard who gets his kicks off by annoying people. Johnny's quirky sense of humor makes him quite fun to be around as long as he isn't teasing you. It's suspected that his relentless teasing is only but a mechanism he uses to keep himself from getting too attached. He often subjects Charley to this in hopes of keeping that mental gap between them. With Barry serving as a constant threat to Johnny's well-being, he doesn't want to risk getting Charley hurt.

While overall Johnny's just a lonesome moody vampire, it's best to stay off his bad side. Johnny has no qualms fighting anyone who hurts the people he loves. He's not a killer but he'll certainly go through great lengths to protect his friends. Johnny also has a soft spot for damsels-in-distress and will go out of his way to assist them however he can. He's not physically attracted to women at all, but he still carries a chivalrous flair about him thanks to his heyday as a knight. Johnny doesn't like to see people endanger and he has a special soft spot for children. He's quite the tender soul despite how rough and gruff he might seem.

CHARACTER
Name: Jade Harley
Canon: Homestuck
Age: 15
Timeline: During the journey to the Alpha session in the new timeline.
Personality: Sweet and energetic, Jade initially gives off an impression of extreme childishness and maybe even naivety: it was evident by her bedroom at home that part of her, at heart, was once an excitable thirteen year old girl. She adored Squiddles (little smiling squid dolls that come complete with built-in magnets so that when brought close enough to each other that they actively -cuddle- each other), enjoyed having tea parties with her Manthro Plushies (darling toy manimal chaps that are probably actively disturbing to anyone who doesn't find them adorable), and is fond of furries (the cute, big-eyed, non-sexual variety.) Her room was a mess of her eclectic interests, with piles of Squiddles in one corner, an electric bass in another, and an assortmet of firearms in the third. She enjoys old cartoons, loves animals of all kinds, and while she is a crack shot with a rifle (which will be expanded upon later), Jade is also a pacifist. Though not always possible, she will always do whatever she can to achieve a nonviolent means to accomplish the goals set out before her.

Jade's adoptive grandfather - and the only real parent she ever knew - was a "world-renowned explorer, naturalist, treasure hunter, archeologist, scientist, adventurer, big game hunter, and billionaire." As such, Jade has never wanted for anything material: her home was enormous and filled with ancient artifacts and ridiculous gizmos suggested to have been built by her grandfather. She rarely had to take the stairs thanks to the transporter that he put on each floor of the house. I only mention this because Jade has also picked up his knack for science; she is not only an enthusiastic gardener but also has an uncanny knack for nuclear physics and general gadgetry based more on sheer intuition more than any sort of concrete knowledge or studies.

Having grown up on a volcanic island with no one but her dog Becquerel (a "fucking devilbeast" as her friend Dave puts it - Bec is actually the First Guardian of Earth, a dog-shaped creature with the power to warp space, among others) to keep her company after the death of her grandfather when she was just a little girl, Jade can sometimes be kind of "weird." When she connected as Dave's server player in Sburb (the world-changing game that she and her friends were playing that gave her the ability to physically manipulate his environment), she decided to do some housecleaning for him and his bro... and immediately dunked a towel in the toilet and got to work. Ignoring the fact that she then uprooted the toilet and dropped it directly into Dave's bedroom, her social blunders (such as referring to her dead, taxidermied grandfather as if he were still alive) are usually mild and inoffensive.

Her sometimes easily excitable nature is reflected by the way that she types: bold green text!!! peppered with lots of exclamation points and emoticons when appropriate. Computer-based chat has been her main method of communication with her friends and the rest of humanity in general for most of her life. Due to her easygoing and generally pleasant attitude, she tends to get along easily with most people that she meets. She is strongly devoted to her friends, too; at one point, she sacrifices her dream-self in order to save the life of John's and later expresses zero regret about the decision.

Though silly and excitable, I’d like to take a moment to mention her self-sufficiency. Instead of going all Lord of the Flies with her dog after the death of her grandfather, she managed to grow into a pleasant if slightly odd young girl with a passion for gardening and all sorts of other unusual things. Being a silly thirteen year old and being able to take care of oneself aren’t mutually exclusive, and with the help of her guardian dog, she was apparently able to look after herself without too much incident. She certainly wasn’t starving or living in squalor, at least.

None of this is to say that she is constantly upbeat and unflappably cheerful: Jade can become short and frustrated with people who actively antagonize her (it took her months to forgive Karkat after he spent so long trolling her) or when she is upset (she verbally sniped at Feferi, one of the trolls, when Feferi approached her after a confusing and frightening nightmare). While Jade is arguably the most childish of the group, and certainly the most aggressively friendly one, she shows her serious and no-nonsense side more and more as the game they play goes on. She certainly never hesitated to call Karkat out on his bullshit when he exasperated her, at least.

Jade's stubbornness occasionally presents as a problem for her. As mentioned earlier, it took months to forgive one of the trolls that antagonized her, despite him needing to talk to her to help her with the game. She also occasionally has issues when it comes to thinking things through; Jade spent most of her life guided by the psychic visions of the past and future that she had while sleeping. Without those to guide her, she sometimes makes egregious blunders without fully considering what she is about to do, such as resurrecting the long-dead body of her dream self to terrible consequences.

In short, Jade is a clever, brave girl. Though a bit odd, she does not balk at her destiny (if you want to call it that) of being a player in a game that heralds the end of the world. Usually playful and amiable, she is more than capable of getting down to business and making difficult sacrifices when the situation calls for it. Even when faced with what seemed like unavoidable failure in Sburb, she maintained a positive attitude out of sheer conviction, not just desperation, and continued to work hard to achieve the goals set before her.

Background: This provides a pretty thorough background for her, but I'd of course be happy to expand on anything as needed.

Abilities: Jade is a godtier Witch of Space, which mostly means two things: 1) she can't die unless the death is heroic or "just," which mostly means "if she dies rescuing puppies from a certain death or turns evil and someone stabs her in the face to stop her, she'll stay dead." It also means 2) that she has control and domain over most things "space" related – she can travel really fast through space! And do things like grow and shrink planets and people, and also teleport and phase through walls and fly and float cake to eat it instead of getting a fork dirty.

As detailed in her personality section, she's also an accomplished markswoman, and is a pretty sharp junior scientist and gadgeteer.

CHARACTER
Name: The Traveler
Canon: Journey
Age: Unknown
Timeline: After the fifth Journey, upon receiving Transcendence
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: The Traveler is a quiet being of no words whatsoever, being capable only of singing chirps of music. Despite that limitation, the Traveler is still expressive in body language and attitude, and even in the frequency and volume of the chirps that it sings. The background music of the game itself also helps to provide emotion to the Traveler, helping to define nuances of the situation and shape the emotions of the player to better match it. While that background music wouldn’t be available in a text-based game, body language and actions can describe a great deal, and sometimes a well-timed chirp can make all the difference.

It is often a loner, due to having spent a great deal of its time traveling all alone through the wastes of its homeworld toward the mountain in the distance. Still, despite that long time spent alone, when presented with companions and help from outside it welcomes them warmly and offers help of its own. The game of Journey can be played either single-player or multi-player, and so the Traveler either journeys alone, or with a single other companion. Despite the lack of communication mediums, companions who find themselves journeying together make sure to help each other out as best as is possible. The chirps help each other fly, and those more familiar with the areas will lead those less familiar. The Traveler is a helper, a guide in places it knows and more than willing to follow in unfamiliar lands. While it will likely be surprised by the presence of more than one other person at a time – having your world be almost entirely a wasteland will do that to you – it will do its best to try and figure out how it can help out. Or at least, what is expected of it.

The Traveler does know fear, and being hunted. During its journey it was often hunted by Guardians, giant machines that would attack and destroy anything with any vestige of power. Unfortunately, the Traveler had no way of facing these creatures except by running and hiding. It is far more likely to try to escape confrontation than it is to try and face down anything, and if it does try to face something down…well, it probably won’t do very well if left to its own devices. It may be extremely mobile, but it isn’t particularly hardy. Fortunately, the Traveler knows this, and does its best to use its environment to its advantage, whether this means figuring out the best places to hide or else knowing the fastest route to get out of the way.

Above all else, though, the Traveler is determined. It may try to find the boundaries of the world it is in, and sometimes it even tries to escape the call to where it needs to go, but it will always eventually turn its gaze to the mountain and keep going. In the case of this world…well, the lack of a purpose will probably stagger it at first, because for once there’s no far-off glowing mountain peak calling it. Still, it will likely seek for a purpose somewhere, even if it starts off as only trying to figure out what all these other beings are, and how it can fit in. Even if it does not gain a final, specific goal, it will make its goal to at least live as best it can within Ruby City. Of course, even if all of that does happen, the Traveler will dream always of the deserts, and a mountain in the distance, and a journey that continues to call to it…

Background: Wiki - This covers the Traveler’s race and the history of its people!

The Traveler itself is one of the red-robed Travelers that was presumably born after the war between different factions of the Rythulians, and it followed the glowing sign of the mountain in the distance in its own journey. During that journey it crossed sand and ruins, and freed a great number of Cloth Creatures from their prisons; it journeyed through ancient temples, and found ancient glyphs which revealed the downfall of its species, and gathered symbols of power; it had visions of tall and powerful White Robed beings, beings which examined it and saw it to be what they were looking for, beings which showed it the true history of its people, and the war they fought amongst themselves of their natural resources. It saw the beauty of the Cloth Creatures in their natural environment, and it saw how the flourishing world which had once been all around had been reduced to ruin and desert.

It traveled alongside others of its kind, though their presence was often fleeting, and they worked together to try and reach that goal they all shared – the Mountain, and the glowing light piercing the heavens.

As it finally ascended the Mountain through a howling snow storm, the Traveler pushed itself ever onward as its scarf shredded in the wind, tearing away the strength which it had so long gathered. Its body froze in the cold, its power leeched away, and finally, still short of that peak which it sought…the Traveler died.

Despite death, the Traveler’s journey was not yet over, for the White Robed beings who had guided it this far had judged it and found it worthy. They gathered about it in spirit, and in spirit they raised it, and restored all of the Traveler’s power and then some. The Traveler stood…and flew. All that had stood in its way before turned aside, and it launched itself straight for the Mountain, bursting past the storm into light, and life, and triumph. And, upon finally gaining the Mountaintop, it walked into the light which had called it so far, the light which had guided it all this way, and attained its goal.

And then the Traveler was once more reborn into a star, and journeyed back to where it had begun, seeing the Mountain in the distance and the calling light, and once more began to travel.

After the fifth time, filled with knowledge and experience about this journey, the Traveler’s Red Robe turned to White as well, and it Trancended. This time, as it turned into a star, it was reborn not back at the beginning of its journey, but in a train car headed toward a city, in an environment unlike any it had encountered before.

Abilities: From the Wiki: “One primary ability of The Traveler is that of chirping. This can be done by pushing the circle button. By holding in the circle button you can charge a chirp causing the chirp's range and effectiveness to increase. Chirping is used for a wide variety of purposes. These are communicating with companions, activating switches and calling to the aid of cloth creatures. Also, a chirp will restore the scarf power of one's companion, if they are in its radius.
Another important ability used by The Traveler is that of flying. Provided the player's scarf is partly or fully charged, if the player pushes and holds in the cross button they will begin to fly. Flying is a fundamental gameplay element as it allows players to access otherwise unreachable areas of the game.”

The Traveler has the ability to transform between its original Red Robe and its new White Robe, though it will most likely spend most of its time in the White Robe. “The White Robe starts with a longer scarf than the Red Robe's original scarf and, unlike the Red Robe's scarf, the White Robe's regenerates its power over time.” Which means that, as long as it lands every once in a while, the Traveler is not dependent on others for restoring power to its scarf.

With mod permission, the Traveler will be able to switch between its Red Robe and White Robe, being held to the limits of the Red Robe when wearing that. (Mostly for aesthetic purposes, to be honest.) It will be in the White Robe for the most part, though.

Additional note: The Traveler cannot speak. Its only forms of communication are the song-like chirps and body language.

Network/Actionspam Sample: [As the camera turns on, there’s no one to be seen at first. The only sounds, aside from the faint and ignorable background noises, as a series of soft chirps like musical notes. Then the subject comes into view, peering curiously at the watch, and it is most certainly not a human.

The Traveler examines the watch thoroughly, leaning in close so that its glowing eyes fill the screen for a moment, and then sitting back once again to get a different angle on it. It is a creature that seems to be covered entirely in a white robe, and even its face is veiled in black fabric. Still, despite no expression being discernable, its head is tilted at just that angle to indicate confusion, occasionally tipping the other way as it looks the watch over. The camera angle often wobbles one way and then the other, until it is once again set down on some sort of…well, somewhat level surface. There’s a hint of an angle to it that implies that it isn’t entirely upright.

The robed figure seems to have finished with the examination, and glances over its shoulder toward the train station, looking into the distance almost longingly before the flowing fabric slumps just a little and turns back. Looking for something without seeing it, perhaps.

Finally it stares once more at the camera before crouching down a little and letting out a sharp chirp, like the ringing of a bell, as a sphere of white light ripples away from it.]

[That done, the Traveler tilts its head at the watch, then glances expectantly about it, as if waiting to hear an answering chime.]

Prose Log Sample: A white-robed figure walked through the streets of the city, peering around itself with fascination and curiosity. The Traveler had seen ruins before, the ruins of its people after the wars that they had wrought among themselves so long ago, but it had never seen a truly intact city like this. More than the city itself, though, it was the sheer amount of growing things that truly astonished it. The first time that it saw a plant, it froze in place in shock, glowing scarf drifting past it with the gentle and nonexistent wind that always caught at it, and then it approached slowly and almost reverently. It remembered a flower in the middle of the desert – an utter impossibility in its world of desert and ruin – and drawings of plants displayed in the history glyphs.

Unsure of exactly what to do for this plant, it crouched down and gathered itself, and then chirped.

A sphere of white light expanded from the Traveler, and though it rustled the leaves of the ornamental little plant, it didn’t seem to do a great deal. The Traveler glanced about itself, trying to find some sort of clue, and finally decided that this wasn’t something that needed to have something done for it at the moment. It wasn’t like the Cloth Creatures who were trapped, but more like the little scarves that gathered in their flocks together. There if needed, but otherwise fine on its own. The Traveler turned away then, once more looking about itself.

The streets were narrow, and it couldn’t see any sign of which way it was supposed to go from here. Fortunately, the roofs of the buildings were within easy reach, and so it spread its cloak wide and leapt, flying upward with delicate and spiraling flaps of its robe. It landed with plenty of power left in its scarf, which began to recharge as soon as its pointed feet touched down, and glanced around itself once more.

It was almost staggering to realize that there truly was no sign of the Mountain here.

CHARACTER
Name: Enzo Matrix
Canon: Reboot.
Age: He's the loose equivalent of an 11-12 year old, although the series is odd and vague about ages bcause everyone's computer sprites and time is weird.
Timeline: From the episode "Game Over", in the instant before Zaytan strikes him in the eye.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: We are expecting at least THREE well-written paragraphs minimum, with references to canon examples of your character’s personality where available. Please provide us with insight to your character and their behaviour, their likes, dislikes and fears, as well as your understanding of them. We would also like to see details of your character's strengths and weaknesses, which may include physical, psychological and emotional.

Enzo Matrix is a precocious young sprite hailing from the computer system known as Mainframe. In many ways, he's your typical kid sidekick. He's optimistic, fun-loving and full of energy. He shamelessly spouts odd catchphrases like "alphanumeric" and will sometimes exclaim a trio of synonymous words to express how he feels about a particular manner. Enzo is almost always accompanied by his pet dog, Frisket, whom he often plays wit. He also has a strong need to prove himself to the people whom he idolizes and is always eager to spend time with them, even if it means putting himself into harm's way. The two people whom he initially idolizes are Dot and Bob. Dot is Enzo's older sister, and even though she embarrasses him sometimes, Enzo primarily shows an admiration for her and her business savvy. In fact, he once tried opening his own delivery service to try to emulate her. As for the other person, Bob, as Mainframe's Guardian, he has been like a superhero to Enzo, as well as being like a big brother to him. Enzo is always excited enough to see Bob that he'll end up tackling him over. He was also very excited to both join Bob on his adventures, no matter how dangerous, and to become a Guardian like him. He's also a character who is prone to making mistakes and wrong choices from time to time, such as when he slowed down the clock speed of everyone else in Mainframe. However, he'll also work to try to make up for his mistakes, and on several occasions he's stood up against enemies like Megabyte with little to no fear, even going as far as to call him childish names.

Despite how cheery he usually is, Enzo is not without his share of sadness. He's felt the loss of his father, who seemingly perished with Mainframe's sister city and with a majority of Mainframe's other sprites. Because of this, Enzo hasn't had people his age to play with. This explains why he ended up being so fixated on Bob and Dot, but it still left an aching in him that not even their friendship could fully cure. However, that started to change when he met AndrAIa in a game. She was orginally a game sprite, bound to the game that she was programmed into, but Enzo swiftly developed a strong fondness to her. They were the same age and got along very well. So he managed to help her 'escape' from the game and the two remained virtually inseperable since then. So, AndrAIa has become one more person whom Enzo likes to impress. In some cases, he's tended to tell white lies and try to cover up his insecurities in order to impress AndrAIa, many of which she quietly sees through. It's a friendship with innocent beginnings, and Enzo is often pleased to teach her lessons about life outside the games.

Life has recently undergone a number of changes which make things much harder on Enzo. For one, Bob was exiled into the Web by Megabyte. Mainframe was closed off from the Net, and Enzo was left with the Guardian code on his icon. This meant the Mainframe was alone against the danger of Megabyte, with Enzo being the closest thing to a Guardian to stand in their way. So, Enzo has been working hard to learn the ropes of handing the responsibilty that comes with being a Guardian while at the same time coping with the loss of Bob. He's had to deal with the fear of being targeted by Megabyte, the challenges of the games and the pressure put upon him by the citizens who had trouble believing in a child Guardian- many of whom were actually stirred up to their protests by Megabyte. However, Enzo has also made some leaps and strides in facing these troubles, especially with the support of people like AndrAIa and Dot. He's stood up to Megabyte, played a vital role in the plan to imprison Megabyte within a firewall, won over a number of displeased citizens (including someone whom had previously defected to Megabyte) and saved the people of Mainframe from several dangerous games. It hasn't been an easy road at all, and although Enzo is still cheery and goofy in a lot of ways, he's starting to carry a chip on his shoulder from all of the preceding troubles that he's had to endure, without the guidance of someone like Bob. His current canon point is the straw that will break his back and his greatest defeat. Essentially, it is a game that Enzo manages to lose. Enzo is taken from before the battle takes its grimmest turn, but he will arrive with a sense of how hopeless seems to be and facing the strong implication that he could lose the game.

Background: His Wiki entry. Only the portion up until near the end of the Viral Wars section is relevant to this portrayal.

Abilities: Is your character an accomplished carpenter? Can they shoot laser beams from their eyes or travel through time? If they possess any abilities, learned or otherwise, they need to go in this section.

Enzo is an ordinary sprite for the most part, which translates to being like an ordinary child. Before gaining the Guardian code, his primary accomplishments have been flying on zipboards and constructing a hover-car. Gaining the Guardian code has helped Enzo in several ways, as it protects him from most infections as well as from being corroded by the Web. Enzo is also able to 'reboot' into games by double-tapping his icon. This changes his clothing while also giving him skills, knowledge and weapons that are relevant to a particular game. This allows him to blend in with the game and have a chance of beating the User under the rules. For example, the most recent game that Enzo was in was a Mortal Kombat knock-off, and when he rebooted, he gained some keen martial arts abilities. However, these abilities seem to fade for the most part when not in a game. Additionally, Enzo can switch his icon into 'game sprite' mode. This allows him to be recognize as part of the game, and if it is active when a game ends, it means that he will leave with the game instead of being returned to Mainframe. (This is how he will ultimately survive the game he loses in Game Over, but that is not relevant to this app)

Additionally, he has a "Key Tool" named Glitch, which has a wide variety of functions, but it is broken at this canon point and can only do some basic functions like scanning systems/scanning for viruses. It will most likely have no actual use when outside of the digital world.

Network/Actionspam Sample: A fluffy meme thread

Prose Log Sample:

"Fetch, boy!" Enzo said as he threw a stick across the field. Frisket gave an affirmative bark as he lumbered away in pursuit of the branch. It was weird to be away from the home and away from the games, in this relatively peaceful place. Even though he knew that this place tended to see its fair share of troubles, it was still unlike any system he was aware of in that there was no need for a Guardian and no games to worry about. It was almost felt like he was returning to the life of just being a little sprite again. But even if that was so, it just would not be the same without Dot and Bob around. Nothing would be.

He glanced down towards his icon and let his hand hover over it as continued to wonder about his role. That icon served as his reminder and his proof that he was still a Guardian. He still had a duty and a protocol, even if no one else here knew about it. He couldn't keep sitting around. He had to find a way to help. Maybe then he would stop having nightmares about that game. All those nightmares went back to that last game he remembered playing. Enzo kept picturing that flaming sword that was coming right at him, and his right eye winced at the memory. He must have let everyone down in the end.

But his reverie was broken by a familiar bark. Frisket ran right up, tugging a whole tree branch in his mouth. Despite all of his troubles, Enzo laughed and leaned over to hug the dog.

"Good boy..."

===

Note: I am also hoping for him to arrive with his pet dog Frisket, if that is alright!
