Uwaaaaah~~! [Chizuru couldn't help herself. She had her fingers pressed up against the pristine glass pane of the window neighboring her seat on the locomotive she found herself lucky enough to gain passage on.
She had heard of trains, even seen drawings of them in letters that her father received back when she was a child. They were things of far-away lands, however. It was a wonder that she had never even noticed ground being broken in Edo to make way for the railways that followed.]
Well, come to think of it...[She began to muse out loud, but stopped herself to see if anyone was around to over-hear her. She was so used to being confined to her room at the Shinsengumi headquarters, she'd forgotten what it was like not to have the place to herself.
Once she had confirmed that she was, in fact, alone, she continued, comforted by the sound of her own voice breaking the silence.] ...come to think of it, I hadn't been in Edo for all that long, I wouldn't have deemed to even look, really...[Maybe she needed to be a bit more observant.]
Mm? [Pulling away from the window, she noticed the train lull to a stop in the station. She waited to see if others were beginning to unboard before she too gathered what she had--her kodachi, not much else, really--and walked to the train entrance.
A rush of anxiety filled her lungs like a gust of winter's first chill. Here she was. In this city, all on her own. She let out an uneasy whimper.]
...what was I thinking, getting myself into this...?
Third Person: Chizuru kept herself at least five to six paces back behind the man she saw, though unaware, she was still a dead give-away. She was quite obviously following him, something evidenced by the determined stare she gave him, her eyes sinking into the unaware man's back. How he couldn't tell she was staring so intently at him was anyone's guess, but there she was, a young woman dressed in hakama, pacing down the street and not letting anyone deter her path. Still, at this point, she didn't care. She recognized him, and she had to see what he was doing here.
Should she call out to him? No, what if he was carrying out some command ordered by the Commander? She didn't think Kondou-san was here, but, then again, she hadn't seen any of the Shinsengumi up until now. And here--here he was! Saitou-san! But...what could be wrong? Surely he could sense her by now....
"Excu--ah!!" She hadn't paid close enough to where she was going, and she tripped over a subtle rise in the street. Waving her arms in attempt to maintain her footing, she fell forward and felt the fierce heat of the cobblestone scraping against the palm of her hands. "Ow, ow, ow--!" She hissed between her teeth. She looked up, gasping when she realized that she might have drawn unwanted attention, and here she was, her hands and knees scraped open and bleeding.
If this was Saitou-san, and he was out in the daylight...what was even worse, if people noticed her wounds suddenly healing...
Clumsily, she tucked her knees beneath her, drawing her hands to her chest and bringing herself back to her feet. If she stood up straight, the blood shouldn't brush against the hakama. "Uhm...S-Saitou-san!" Her cover blown, she might as well call out to her companion, in hopes that their reunion would consist of something more than scolding.
