One of the primary reasons for our decision is that we feel that the information given about James is only based on his familial links, and does not tell us about how he has gained any of his personality traits. There is not enough backstory to substantiate his personality and while he is a Canon OC, there would need to be a degree of character-building to tell us who he is as an individual, including unique traits.
