[CANON] DICK GRAYSON || DC Comics || no reserve || 2 of 4

Personality: Having been born and raised in a circus can have an interesting effect on someone’s personality, as evidenced by one Dick Grayson. He was basically bred for the center lights, and can often come off as a show-off. Body language is his strong point; where words might fail him, his body will fill in the story. He’d rather do a couple of flips off of a balcony than have to explain himself in any length with words.

Dick is also very honest and wears his emotions on his sleeves. He’s not very good at lying, and doesn’t like to anyway. His heart is huge and he loves almost everyone he meets. It’s very rare for him to find someone he honestly just flat out hates. With close friends and family, he tends to be really touchy-feely and he doesn’t realize it. Occasionally he might cross a line with someone and get too close, but it’s an honest mistake and he doesn’t mean to get too far into anyone’s personal space or business.

Despite being the adopted son of the Dark Detective, Dick isn’t exactly a thinker. It’s much harder for him to think things through completely and he isn’t as logical as the others in his life. He’s much more simple-minded, a whatever goes kinda guy. That being said, he does have a strong sense of justice and does what he can to crack down on those who do wrong to the weaker folk.

As honest as he is, it can sometimes be easy to step on other people’s toes; he gets too close and says speaks his mind when others might not agree. He tends to move before he speaks, and he speaks before he thinks. . . only to realize he might have hurt someone along the way after it’s all said and done. Because of this, he can sometimes lose the people he holds most dear and it breaks him apart.

Training with the Dark Knight also made him into an excellent leader. Dick Grayson has years of experience being a team leader, to the point that he almost hates the role. But he knows when it’s needed and he isn’t afraid to step up to the plate. He has a wonderful way of instilling confidence in those around him and many people look up to him because of it.

Unfortunately, the main qualification to being a part of the BatFamily is that you’re really screwed in the head. Dick Grayson, despite being quite a leader, also suffers from confidence issues. He’s never quite sure what he’s doing is the right thing, or if he’s overstepping any lines and getting himself in trouble. His entire life, he’s had large shoes to fill with his parents in the circus and then being adopted by Bruce Wayne. Even out of the costume, he’s the ward of one of the richest men in the world. Public light is always on him, and while he doesn’t mind it, there’s always a dark shadow in the back of his mind nagging away at him. Dick never feels like he’ll be able to take the role he’ll need to when the time comes.

In the end, the most important thing on Dick Grayson’s list is to care for his close family and friends. Sometimes to a fault - he won’t hesitate to put himself on the line for someone important to him. It’s truly the people in his life that make him happy and he strives to make sure they’re safe and sound, no matter what the cost.
