Personality: More than anything Peter is extremely carefree. He's pretty much always got his head in the clouds. Since he lives in Heaven which is made of clouds in SYM's universe that's pretty literal, but. He's definitely a free spirit and very cheerful. He likes to go drinking on Earth, often chatting it up with the salarymen and goofing around with them. Letting loose and having fun, and joking around are everything Peter wants to be a part of, he also has a high alcohol tolerance. Often he comes across as rather childish, doing things like dancing around Moses as he bugs him. Other times his jokes can get rather offensive. Various forms of teasing, sometimes sexual jokes, flirting with or making mildly suggestive comments about pretty women - notably commenting on St. Mary's beauty with Andrew in front of Jesus. Peter doesn't mean any harm by it, and he doesn't really say anything bad, mean or crude, but the simple fact that he takes his jokes in that direct can be more than enough for some people. He also doesn't seem to be very bright. Jesus brings him a finger trap as a souvenir and initially it scares him because he can't get it unstuck.
He's interested and amazed by simple modern inventions and the like, the finger trap being a good example. Not only does Peter seem to think it's the greatest thing ever, he spends a long time playing with it and trying to figure out its secret. Modern things are his lifeblood. He loves manga, video games and general popculture - he even has a Twitter account. In an MMORPG, Daemon Hunter Online, he has a high level knight class character...and spends his time looking for rare mushrooms. He loves horror and has a wealth of knowledge of scary stories, although slasher films terrify him because they're just too brutal. Friday the 13th in particular is something he can't take. Even while he's working Heaven's reception desk, he's usually reading Shounen Jump (One Piece is his favourite). Which also happens to showcase his laziness. Granted, he doesn't have much to do but sit there 90% of the time, but even so, it's not exactly the professional thing to do. When Jesus stumbles across Peter and Andrew sitting at the desk discussing One Piece, he pretty much can't believe what he's seeing. The leader of the apostles not taking his job seriously in the least.
At one point he comments that he and his younger brother, Andrew, were reckless before becoming Jesus' followers. He says he's grateful to the teacher who changed them from their former no-good selves. He thinks school teachers could learn a lot from his way of doing things and wishes everyone could experience such transformation. Despite his usual sillyness, when it comes down to it, Peter is surprisingly wellspoken. His rare cases of seriousness serve to remind everyone exactly why he's the leader of the apostles, first Pope, and keeper of Heaven's gate. In a way, it's exactly because he can be both happy-go-lucky and serious that he's the right one for the job. While most of the others have fairly obvious failings, such as John having a hot temper, Judas lacking any selfconfidence or Jacob never speaking up, Peter actually has very good leadership skills. He can inspire people with insightful speeches and relate to them on a personal level by being funny and approachable. He's understanding, rarely upset, and easily comes up with solutions to problems.
Peter and Andrew are practically inseparable. They've always lived and worked together, have practically the same personality and interests, it's almost as if they're the same mind. He loves his brother and takes pride in his accomplishments almost as if they were his own. His friends are extremely important to him and Peter would do anything for Andrew and Jesus in particular. Although more so in the past, he is unfortunately, and generally understandably, frightened of dangerous situations. His denial of Christ was due to being afraid he would be persecuted as well if he admitted to being his follower. And that is something he regrets. Although because of his easygoing nature, he's moved passed it by now and knows it was wrong, but won't beat himself up over it. Similarly, he's easily forgiven Judas and often sticks up for him. He and Andrew are something like caretakers to Judas and tend to keep an eye on him out of concern for his wellbeing.
Abilities: He is a gr8 fisherman and not so bad at farm work and carpentry. He's also capable of using a sword and likely a bow and arrow. He would likely be able to perform some minor miracles and as other saints have been shown to do, if he does something particularly virtuous his halo would become apparent, which would appear as his head glowing. He's also a surprisingly good leader.
Mostly he's really good at video games and drinking.
