CHARACTER Name: Rose Tyler Canon: Doctor Who Age: 19 Timeline: Season 2, School Reunion, when trying to get into the computers, just after Sarah Jane mentions the Loch Ness Monster. If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A
Personality:
She is much more courageous than she, or most people, give her credit for. When she first met the Doctor, she stuck with him when living plastics were chasing her, saved him from the Nestene Consciousness and joined him in the TARDIS without even thinking about it. She doesn’t hesitate to get involved and help the Doctor, even if it means that she puts herself in danger. While this isn’t something she does for just anyone, she will help who she can and stand up for what she believes in. Even if that means she has to go toe-to-toe against the Doctor in an argument.
She’s also very intelligent for someone that comes from a time that still considers everything the Doctor shows her as science fiction. She catches on quick to the things the Doctor shows her and figures out how to ask the right questions when they get into trouble. Or even when they don’t. She may not be the smarted person he could have taken along but she learns, or makes and effort to learn, and understands what she can. Rose tries and that’s a lot of the charm to her being a companion.
Rose also has her moments of pride but knows when to put it aside as well. Earlier on in her travels with the Doctor, she might have been less inclined to do so but the more she travels, the more she’s willing to admit when she’s wrong and apologize for it. She’s a young woman who, despite society in her own time, understands responsibility, right and wrong. It’s especially noticeable in the episode with the Gelth that she respects human life, whether someone is still alive or not. Something that many people don’t really think about.
She’s also witty and can be sharp or sarcastic at times, which could account for why the Ninth Doctor took to her like he did. She was someone who could keep up with him on several levels. Not only that but she doesn’t hold grudges. She’ll forgive things and people who go against her personal beliefs (a Dalek that learned to feel thanks to her DNA, Cassandra when she finally accepted that she was dying, etc.) and that shows her for what kind of a good, kind person she is. Not that she always is. Like anyone who loves someone (and Rose does love the Doctor) she’s prone to jealousy. Thankfully, not violently so as some people can be/are portrayed.
Abilities: She can work a Sonic Screwdriver! And she once held the entire time vortex in her head (BAD WOLF). She can also use a gun (fairly well) and is a gymnast.
Ruby City. That was classy and nothing like she’d heard of on Earth. Except this wasn’t Earth where she had been, in an over secured high school with one of the Doctor’s former companions while the two had argued over who had better adventures. Thinking on it now, it was ridiculous. Jealousy driving her to find everything and anything to dislike Sarah Jane. It was so stupid now that she thought about it.
This wasn’t Earth. But it had to be. She hadn’t been on the TARDIS and she hadn’t been on Game Station to be teleported anywhere. It hadn’t felt a transmat beam either. That had left her dazed and barely conscious, confused about where she was and with temporary mild amnesia. While she couldn’t remember how she got there, she could remember everything leading up to it. So how had she gotten here?
“Hello?”
That never helped before. Why is she trying it now? It looked like a harmless train station but… She learned when she first met the Doctor that things can look harmless and be very not-harmless. Like mannequins. At least she had a sonic screwdriver? For whatever good that did her here.
