[CANON] Nico di Angelo || Percy Jackson Series || reserve || 3 of 3

Abilities:
Nico is a son of Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld. He can talk to ghosts, and summon the dead to do his bidding. In fact, he has a whole suite of death-related powers, including being able to sense death or people's life auras, control the dead, communicate with nearby spirits by sending out "vibes", or banish the dead. He can also send out a powerful aura of fear that affects the living.

He can enter a Death Trance, that allows him to survive a long period of time without food, water, or even air. With just a handful of pomegranate seeds, he survived in an airless box for over a week, eating just one seed per day to regenerate his strength.

He has the ability to shadow travel, which allows him to travel large distances in a short period of time, by moving from shadow to shadow. This ability is very draining, and he can't do it too much. He also has the ability to travel to the Underworld at will, and move through the Underworld without dying. In a general sense, he can control darkness and shadows in other ways, summoning it and even shaping it into solid shapes.

He has the ability to levitate rocks and turn them into sharp obsidian shards, then throw them at people.

All demigods in this world have ADHD. In the case of demigods in the Percy Jackson universe, what is diagnosed as ADHD is actually extremely powerful reflexes and reaction-time. Compared to regular humans, they seem to have a hard time focusing and sitting still, and this is because of their heightened senses and energy compared to humans. Nico has this ability.

He carries a sword made of stygian iron, which can basically suck the life out of anyone it pierces. And he's pretty good with it. Using this weapon, he can block and control darkness attacks even more than his natural ability to control shadows.

He can speak fluent Italian (because he was born in Italy), English, and ancient Greek (because he's a Greek demigod), as well as reading in all three languages. (As a note, demigods are hardwired to speak and read ancient Greek without being taught. This makes it more difficult for them to read their native tongue, which is often diagnosed as dyslexia).

He's a very good Mythomagic player! Which is a kind of pokemon card game with Greek gods and demigods. In addition to being a cool hobby, he knows a great deal about Greek mythical figures and monsters because of this hobby. He seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the cards, which might seem like a photographic memory but is actually just the fact that he's a huge nerd.

First Person:

[At first, the video might not seem to show anything. Dim light and shifting shadows, and then the person holding it comes into focus, as he pulls back and obviously stares at the picture in front of him, first with confusion, then a slight smile. He's got dark hair that is rumpled, as if he just rolled out of bed. Though his skin has an olive tone, he's so pale it looks as if he hasn't seen the sun in many years.]

Oh cool.

[Then his eyes widen and the smile instantly vanishes. His brows come together in an uncertain frown]

Hey wait, can people see me on this thing?

[He abruptly shuts the watch, and everything goes dark. A few moments later, he reappears, his face completely serious and half-hidden in shadow]

Uh…hi. Sorry about that, before. It didn't look like a cellphone, and I didn't realize it was-- [He stops, eyes flicking away for a moment, and he purses his lips, irritated with himself] Anyway, you don't care about that.

I'm looking for some people. You know who you are. Contact me, okay?

[He hesitates for a moment, then shuts the watch again]

Third Person:

Nico was no stranger to weird places. He had spent quite a while in Hades, after all, and even made his way, alone, through the very depths of Tartarus. He had been captured by giants and kept in an airless jar for over a week with nothing to keep him alive but pomegranate seeds.

So unlike many people who came here, he didn't freak out or anything. In fact, he stepped off the train in relatively good possession of his faculties, and spent some time reading posters before moving on.

Even when he left the train station, he kept to the shadows. He saw people, but didn't consider approaching them, at least, not at first. He didn't know what to expect, but the people here, they might be enemies, or they could just be innocent people who wouldn't have answers to any questions. Maybe some of them might be potential friends, but he wasn't exactly comfortable with just walking up to some random person and asking questions.

So he shadow travelled until he knew the layout of the town. In all his travels, he didn't see one monster. Not one demigod, either - at least, none he knew by sight.

But there were a lot of ghosts. He had a few good conversations with them, and that calmed his fears and gave him a better grounding for what to expect.

Finally, when he felt confident, he approached his first actual living person in the city.

"Hi," he said, melting out of the shadows in what was probably a startling way - it wasn't intentional, he was just a bit shy and didn't realize he was hiding as he approached. "I'm new here."
