Personality:

Peach's personality is shown her to be kind and well mannered, a proper Princess for a struggling kingdom. She is also shown as being motherly, in the way that she often looks over her subjects and seems to take care of things for Mario, by either baking him cakes or making sure that his living arrangements and travels are accommodated or comfortable. This is seen during most of the spin-off games, where Peach has constructed game board islands or Baseball islands for Mario and his friends to relax and have fun. In most of the Mario Series games she is portrayed as selfless, perky and generous. She does not show an aggressive nature even when she is fighting (this is shown by her use of quick slaps, graceful high kicks, hip-checks in the air, and other elegant fighting techniques, as seen in the Super Smash Bros., Super Mario RPG, and Super Princess Peach games) or confronting her enemies. Though, however, there are a few games and manga where she displays a fit of temper or deep sadness. In Super Princess Peach, she shows wild mood swings that switch from Joy, Gloom, Happiness, and even Anger; each of which gives her a special ability to use in the game. These changes in emotion are most likely attributed to the "strange powers" of Vibe Island mentioned in the game's booklet and where the game takes place, but also show that Peach is capable of very strong emotions, not previously seen in many of the other Mario stories. In Super Princess Peach, she also shows Bowser that she is capable of taking care of herself, having to save a kidnapped Mario whom is typically her savior and becoming the main character.

Although often kidnapped and sought after by him, Peach has never really been shown to hold any grudges at Bowser/Koopa. She even embraces the thought of having him by her and Mario's side when a bigger villain threatens the kingdom, as per his role in the Super Nintendo game Super Mario RPG: Secret of the Seven Stars. It shows that Peach is compassionate and wise, knowing that a power house like Bowser is greater to have as an ally than to be a victim of his villainy. The Paper Mario series has revealed that she can sometimes succumb to a more bratty like behavior, typically associated with Princess', though this often dissipates as soon as everything gets explained to her by Toad or other members of her court.

It has been shown through the comics published in issues of Nintendo's official Nintendo Power magazine that Peach is very cunning, disguising herself as Luigi in order to make her way past the Mushroom Kingdom's guards in order to pursue Mario and finish off Bowser herself. She has also disguised members of her staff as stand-ins in order to go along with Mario on his journey, displaying a crafty and delinquent side to her otherwise royal upbringing. In Super Paper Mario, Peach states she was taught to help others, so it explains why she is not content to just sit and allow Mario to things all on his own. It also shows that she is much more than a Princess kept behind tall walls, displaying that when things become harsh for her people (going back to the selfless and generous mentions), she will do anything to make things right, even if it means breaking rules and jumping over the castle wall. Her strength and resolve are greater, if not equal, to Mario's. In almost every entry in the Mario series, Peach has never surrendered to Bowser (even when shackled and locked away in a dungeon) and has always been seen as holding on to the hope that Mario and company will do what is right, or at the very least that she herself will make Bowser pay for his evil deeds. Much like her "hero", she too has never been one to give in or surrender, always resolving to do what must be done in order to bring order back to the kingdom, even if it means traveling over 8 treacherous and dangerous worlds.

Peach's one weakness seems to be that she is very suceptible to kidnappings, as well as being drawn away from her throne. Regardless of the villain or the kidnapper, there is little room for error for anyone being able to scoop her off and abscond off with her. In almost every entry of the Mario games (not including the sports, spin-offs, and board game games), Peach is kidnapped by Bowser and is taken away for purposes of being married or for kingdom-bargaining. In all other entries, Peach follows along with Mario to try and aide in his quest. Very few of her fears have been revealed through the years, as Peach has been shown to be more courageous than Luigi, if not as much as Mario. In the Super Mario manga books drawn by Charlie Nozawa, Peach is fearful of most common things that are spooky in the Mushroom Kingdom, such as ghosts or ghastly creatures, having been attacked by a horde of Boo ghosts. During this attack, Peach is seen running away in fear, rather than trying to fight against them. Aside from that, she is rarely seen as being fearful or worrisome about most things, perhaps another pillar of resolve from a Princess' upbringing.

Background: Here.

Abilities: Here.

First Person:

[Peach's eyes open slowly, her hands raising to rub at her temples as her head aches with confusion. The sounds of the locomotive are nothing foreign to her, but the Princess cannot recall how it is that she came to board the train she was now traveling on.]

{Am I.. Still in the Mushroom Kingdom?}

[The decor of the train car looked nothing like the architecture of any kingdom she knew. Rather, the train itself seemed dull and plain, noting extravagant or ornate. The Princess assumes that she is being taken to parts unknown, a feeling she is all too used to, sadly.]

{This cannot be Bowser's doing, can it?}

[She sits up straight, hands running over the lap of her skirt to work out the wrinkles. The train, as far as she can tell, begins to slow its pace. Her mind races, anxious yet excited to see just where her destination may be.

Peach hears the whistle shriek, the churning of pistons and the almost deafening cry of steel grinding against steel. Her eyes can see through the non-obscured windows that she has arrived in a rather drab looking city, her lips turning to a worried frown as she stands from her seat in the now still car.She turns side-to-side, looking down the length of the passenger car to see if she truly is the sole traveler.

There is no sign of a red hat, no hint of a black mustache, or even a pair of denim overalls in her sight. Thankfully, as she steps towards the opening doors, she sees no notice of a spiked, green tyrant, either.]

Third Person:

She had seen the fangs many times before, and every time she saw them she found herself back there when her kingdom was first under siege.

As she looked to the creature now coming upon her, she stood her ground, hands clenching and not bothering to raise themselves in defense. Her mind saw past visions of a time where she cowered in fear, memories of traversing over pits of boiling magma where flimsy bridges were the only escape lest she wait upon foreign plumbers to save her. The shine of its claws under the dim moonlight above did not stir her like they used to, the countless times she felt their grip about her and knowing now that no harm would come to her.

The warmth of his breath, though it was fierce and foul, was almost nostalgic as she looked into the King's terrible, gaping maw. Through his presentation she did no waver, her body remaining stiff and planted as if she were another statue among the fixtures in a castle hall. Her eyebrows did not furrow, her azure orbs showed no malice or despair. She'd looked upon the lizard plainly. She knew his mannerisms and his will, and to those who feared him she could sympathize with very well.

Yet, the brave Princess stood her ground. Just as the fearsome Koopa brought forth a mighty hand to ensnare her, it was then that she raised a firm, open hand and connected with the side of his snout.

"Even after all this time? The least you could do is greet me before you try and snatch me! How rude."
