[FANDOM OC] Orphaner Dualscar | Homestuck | Reserve

History: Due to the Ancestors having such a vague past, assumptions are often made in regards to what positions and personalities they possessed in their time. We can judge these sorts of things by the characters they associate with, the traits that are most predominant in their descendants and even minor elements such as their appearance and garments.

For someone so high in the caste system, it’s unsurprising that Dualscar’s loyalties lie with both the Empress and the Empire. Why would one be inclined to fight a system that only benefits them?
His flushed feelings for the Empress are no secret, though the reasons behind them are never elaborated upon. Perhaps it seems only right for the female of the highest caste to choose a suitor from the second highest caste, another thing Dualscar would not argue against. He desires what he perceives as his blood rights and he persues what he believes he deserves.

He seems the sort to maintain order, seeing as order is a reoccurring theme through his life. Everything is based on rank and everything is judged by power. The Highbloods are stronger, more powerful and guaranteed to live longer, so it’s only right that they should hold the reigns. With the two highest castes belonging to sea dwellers, the authority of Alternia belongs to those on the seas. Were he the highest caste, Dualscar would fancy himself the ruler of the sea, but will instead settle for ruler of the waves. From his garb, it seems obvious that he’s in an official position of power. His cape, armor and metals worn as decoration indicate an illustrious sort of career. It seems unlikely that a pirate would dress in such a manner, though personal grooming and appearance is key to him. An admiral or general is a far more befitting assumption for our Dualscar. Not to say he was necessarily a just and fair man of the military, it is probable that he would be more than a little corrupt. Even prone to the occasional (frequent) abuse of power and the use of underhanded methods to stake claim on lands and treasure. All in the name of the empire, mind you. Far be it from Dualscar to so selfishly take whatever he pleases. (haha.)

Though, in a society built around hate, fear and inevitable death it’s hardly surprising. In Alternia, you do what you can to survive, even if that means sticking your feet in people’s faces and stabbing them in the back. Dualscar would have to fight tooth and claw to remain the head of his fleet. This would probably call for the occasional culling of a crew member to keep the men sprightly and on their toes. All he asks for is total devotion, loyalty and the utmost respect for him. Whatever he’s doing, it’s to keep himself at the top. He strives to be the best, to be the most impressive, the most powerful, the richest and the one with the firmly filled quadrants. The last one seemed a hopeless cause for a good many sweeps, until he met someone who saw through all of his barriers of intimidation and hatred.

Now, if we refer back to pirates, we can begin to discuss his glorious kismesitude with Marquise Spinneret Mindfang. Mindfang is the very essence of the corruption Dualscar indulges in. While he is rigid and strict, she is wild and free. The two would have more than a few reasons to clash when it came to claiming land and serving the Empire. As a free spirit, Mindfang was inclined to do whatever she pleased, which surely did Dualscar no favours. Somehow, the two of them managed to tangle together in a black romance, which Dualscar was more than happy to foster. However, when he opened his lonely heart to such passion, he slowly allowed flushed feelings to creep in. When this mixed with the jealousy Mindfang’s rebellion caused, his emotions became more twisted and he acted out, killing his romantic rivals.

Naturally, he was turned down for a mutually flushed relationship and he sought revenge through means other than his own. For a long time, he allowed Mindfang to slip through his fingers despite her crimes toward Alternia. Until now, he felt it was fair as long as he could keep tabs on her. Now, too ashamed by her lack of interest to show his face and too bitter to allow her to live on, he visits the Highblood with everything he knows about her. She would no longer be his problem.

This doesn’t end well for him, probably because of how stuffy and disrespectful he is. The Highbloods would have no interest in what he had to say, they only wish to make a joke of him. From where I’m taking him, his pride will just barely be intact, but he won’t be dead. He’ll be self-assured in the fact that the lower-bloods who trifled with him will have suffered a suitable death and he will be none too pleased to see Mindfang alive and kicking.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths:
Physical: As a highblood and a seadweller he's both physically powerful and blessed with longevity. He can breathe and function underwater and prefers it to land, he moves quicker when he's swimming. As an Orphaner he's a particularly skilled hunter and marksman with his crosshairs, he will always bring in the best kill. His blood status also makes him more or less immune to Mindfang's mind tricks, but that isn't to say he can't be mentally manipulated in other ways.

Mental: He's well read and intelligent and he puts a lot of thought behind most actions, when it comes to battle. He's persistent and often has the patience to wait for things to come his way. He does quite a bit of research to back up his choices and, as such, he has an enthusiasm for history.

Weaknesses::
Physical: While it's not confirmed, it's possible that he is not quite so fast on land as he is underwater. Water is his natural habitat, so existing on land may cause small but irritating problems for him.

Mental: Dualscar is somewhat restrained by what he beliefs is right and wrong, he isn't very open minded and he desires order. That being said, he's fairly easy to manipulate since he's lets his emotions rule him. He has a habit of underestimating others because he believes he's better from the start.

Abilities: As previously mentioned, he’s an excellent strategist and a man hardened by battle. He’s skilled at formulating effective plans, he can draw up maps and reference history books if need be. His long term memory is great, but his short term memory leaves much to be desired. Occasionally he can forget his intentions midway through an argument or he’ll forget tricks Mindfang has already played on him.
As a troll he has levelled up strength and agility and a longer life span. As a sea dweller he has gills, expanding organs and fins for swimming and breathing underwater. He’s slightly more graceful underwater than he is on land, but that isn’t to say he’s any less of a threat. A land dweller would not want to engage him in a sea battle. Due to his connection to the sea, he can become cagey and uncomfortable if parted from it for long periods of time.
He’s been wielding his cross hairs for as long as he can remember, he’s an adept marksman and his gun is his most valued weapon. He’s capable of combat without it, obviously, but he will lament the lack of it. In close range his claws, fists and anything he can get his hands on become his weapons. He’s strong, but he isn’t the strongest troll. If someone such as The Grand Highblood challenged him to a fist fight, he would have to rely more on wit than brawn.

Relationships to Canon Characters:
Mindfang: His former kismesis. The two were infamous for their black romance until Dualscar began to develop flushed feelings that he eventually confessed to. The relationship was built on mutual benefit and snark and Dualscar is confused as to how he really feels about her.
Her Imperious Condescension: It's implied by Mindfang that he's flushed for her, and it's possible considering their descendants. As someone loyal to the empire and second highest in ranking it seems fitting that he would desire her.
The Helmsman: It's possible he had a hand in getting him his job as the Helmsman. Though he probably detests anyone who interests the Empress more than Dualscar himself, he doesn't really know him.
Grand Highblood: Killed by him because he couldn't think of a funny joke, thinks he's ridiculous but had the nerve to attempt to use him in order to rid himself of Mindfang's scorn.
The Dolorosa: Has an intense dislike for her, coupled with jealousy. She was getting in the way of his relationship with Mindfang so he had her killed.

Eridan Ampora:His descendant whom he has had no direct contact with. However, it's said that an Ancestor will leave hints for their Descendant and help them follow their path, the only clear indication of this is that Eridan wields his crosshairs and roleplays Dualscar with a passion. That being said, Eridan himself is quick to give it away and replace it with his new weapon.

Third Person: The sound of Dualscar's boots clicking against the stone floors is the only thing stopping an eerie silence from falling over the darkened caves. There's a dim light in the distance, but it serves little comfort to the troll as he walks. The further he walks forward, the closer the figure on the chair becomes. He feels small, standing in the other troll's presence, so he does not kneel. The blood smeared on the walls in rainbow patterns and queer faces sends a shiver of disgust down his spine.

The next parts are a blur. He argues and he freezes. Suddenly words do not come so easily. A joke should be so simple, right? Such a foolish request, and yet, Dualscar could not even open his mouth. The light behind the other troll seems to shine brighter as he stands, the patterns becoming swirls as Dualscar's eyes struggle to focus. A spiked club raises and Dualscar's heart stops, the moment seeming to freeze almost entirely before it all comes crashing down. The club collides, the pain burns and suddenly Dualscar sees the world through violet coloured glasses before a cold rush of air fills his lungs.

One deep breath is followed by a few short, sharp ones as Dualscar begins to realise his surroundings. Had that all been a dream? He shakes his head, trying to focus again as he glances around. Nope. Actually. Looking around himself is making this worse. His body is shaking and he feels sick to stomach as he buries his face in his hands and shuts his eyes for a moment. He regrets that choice as soon as he makes it, when he closes his eyes all he can see is that twisted, painted face and all he can hear is the booming echo of his laugh. It wasn't just his skull that had been shattered, it was his pride.

Curious as this contraption was, he wasn't sure if he wanted to know where he was being taken, but he supposes he's about to find out as the train rolls to a stop. He wills his shaking legs to stand as he steps toward the doors, shouldering his crosshairs to wedge out of the train. He inhales sharply, trying to earn the courage to step onto the platform. The breeze rustles his hair as he peers out the door and he scowls into the empty platform.

If a troll stays on a train and nobody is there to see him, would anyone notice?
