CHARACTER Name: Yosuke Hanamura Canon: Persona 4 Age: 17 Timeline: after Persona 4 Arena If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A
Personality: One of the first things you'll notice when you meet Yosuke is probably that he appears to be a pretty cheerful boy and his attitude is pretty much the one of a typical happy-go-lucky guy, which can help others to cheer up. He often tries to joke or tease to relax a tense or serious situation, but they are often at the expenses of his friends. Still, Yosuke shows to be a gentle and caring boy, as can be seen when he stands up to Mitsuru (even though he is scared to do so) so that she won't use terms that are commonly used for objects for Labrys, a robot girl with a heart. He also likes to take care of others, as can be seen when he adopts Teddie without hesitation and gives him a home.
Unfortunately, this also makes him an easy target for being used, so many people approach him to complain about their situation and expect him to magically do something about it. Additionally, as the son of the manager of Junes (a shopping center which drives the local shops into ruin) people tend to talk a lot behind his back about him, but even when he hears them doing that he never really stands up for himself and just tries to play it down. It probably is tied to the fact that he has a rather "fragile ego" as he puts it and has trouble with believing in himself, as can be seen through the fact that he temporary lost his ability to summon his persona after his supposed shadow toys with his emotions and insecurities. That is likely the reason why somewhere deep down in his heart he wishes to be special and grows envious and jealous of others, as he as a person feels kind of overlooked by most people.
His outer self is also a bit of a facade, though. He forces himself to be cheerful because he is scared of being alone and lonely. What he also hides is the fact that he is quite easily bored, and that the reason he jumped so easily on the murder case was that it gave him the chance to do something different and dangerous, which is anything but noble. His judgment is also easily clouded by his emotions and can lead up to a murderous intent, as he is the one who wants to kill Namatame the most when evidence made him seem the murderer.
Yosuke is generally someone who has a rather quick temper and his friends enjoy teasing him or to get him riled up. It doesn't help that he is rather clumsy, since he even managed to crash into and land in a trash can while riding his bike. This makes him an easy target for verbal jabs. Even his tendency to overthink and read too much into a situation lead him to make rather rude or insensitive remarks from time to time, as Yu notices.
Like your typical teenage boy, Yosuke has a great weakness for pretty girls and tries to hit on them, though that usually also ends in failure. He also shows signs of being a homophobe and is for example scared of the fact that Kanji, who has an ambiguous sexuality, might try to molest him. Yet Yosuke isn't really one who really has prejudices and is very accepting as can be seen in the way he treats Teddie, a shadow, or Aigis and Labrys, two robot girls. He can also be very understanding, shown when despite his worry what Aigis might do to Labrys, he doesn't hold it against Aigis that she can't tell an outsider such information.
Abilities: Supervisor - thanks to the fact that people always complain to him, he has acquired skills to handle such conflicting situations and acts sometimes as the supervisor in Junes. Kunai - Yosuke usually wields two kunais when he fights and does decent damage. He uses them a bit more like swords rather than like throwing weapons. Persona - Yosuke can summon a persona, a being that has shown that he has accepted his weakness, though he has only done so in the TV-world and never in the real one. With his Persona, Yosuke is able to use wind magic and a bit of healing magic, can buff his allies and debuff his enemies.
First Person: Man, what's wrong here? I've never seen this stupid city. Huh? Why is a watch in my pocket?
[Finally, a face can be seen - it shows a boy with brown hair and brown eyes and said face comes closer to the screen.]
Wait, that's no ordinary watch. Is this that communication system that was written about? Does it work like the internet?
[He takes another closer look at the watch.]
No! Don't tell me it has been recording me! [Man, that was embarrassing. Hopefully nobody saw him conversing with himself. Well, anyways, perhaps he could still use it. It wouldn't hurt to try it, at least.]
Hey, can anybody hear me?
Third Person: Yosuke could recognize the distinct sound of a train stopping. He let out a small yawn as he opened his eyes. It was just then when it dawned to him - he hadn't boarded a train. He went so rarely to the bigger city, he'd know it if he had stepped inside a train to go there. Just what was going on here? This was more than fishy - but more importantly, he had to leave this train. He wouldn't get back if he stayed on it.
He took a good look at the surroundings. Whoa, whoa! What was that place? That station looked even more abandoned than the one in Inaba. That wasn't too important now, though, he needed to find the timetable. He went inside the building, but he found nothing. No timetables, nobody at the reception, not one damn sign that could help him out. Ohhh, that was just his luck. He let out a sigh as he leaned with his back on one of the walls outside of the building.
Something about this place seemed not quite normal. He couldn't exactly point his finger on it, though. This looked like a train station, but everything that belonged to a normal train station was nowhere to be found here. Yosuke took out his cellphone - as he had expected, there was no net. Was it perhaps the world inside the TV? He shook his head. Even if the fog reminded him of the many times they were in the TV and the fact he couldn't help but feeling watched, that place should look differently again. Then again, who- or whatever had been the cause of the last Midnight Channel did say that he would be back. Yeah, that thought made Yosuke definitely feel uneasy. First things first, though. He had to find out - wait, there was a poster with information. How had he overlooked that before? That was a start for now.
