Strengths/Weaknesses: Portugal is a skilled fighter, having spent time as an empire and more recently as a soldier for her compulsory military service. As noted above, she is an extremely good navigator, and has a nearly photographic memory. She has a very good head for money and business – much of her influence at its height was based in being a trading power. However, she can be used by anyone who she cares about – she simply will not believe they're in the wrong unless forced to, and even then she will try to find some excuse. In this she is very good at self-delusion. Her pride can also be used against her since she can't stand to be mocked or to look foolish. However, if she can keep her pride out of a situation she is very practical.
Abilities: She has no supernatural abilities, save that she can see magical creatures when around England.
Relationships to Canon Characters: She was previously in a relationship with England (Anglo-Portuguese Alliance) and they're still friends today, though she tends to be a bit flirty with him. She knows Austria, as they were once in-laws. First Person: [When Portugal wakes up on the train, her first thought is that she is not supposed to be here. Is this some kind of prank being pulled on her by her aggravating brother and his friends? It's possible – the hostility of previous centuries is reduced to that now, after all. But... Something tells her no, especially when she is propelled off the train by an unseen force. Glancing around at what appears to be a ghost town, she frowns, eyes sharp.]
Mãe de Deus... What is this place?
[She starts walking, and this is when she notices the fact that there's something in her pocket besides her cell phone. She takes that out first, though, only to find that it doesn't work. Then she takes out the pocketwatch, frowning at it.]
This is not mine... How did I get this?
[For now she keeps walking, though – it's likely that the town isn't entirely deserted or else a train wouldn't come here, so she just has to keep going until she finds someone.]
Third Person: So. Portugal wasn't sure how she felt about – once again – being confined against her will. At least, while she had no ability to leave, within the city she was more or less free to exercise her free will. That was an improvement over her other experiences of being forced into things. But at the same time, she couldn't deny that the situation was unsettling. And not just unsettling, but possibly dangerous.
And, all right, she had to admit that bit didn't bother her at all. Truth to tell, she'd been insanely bored at home, and a bored Madalena was never a good thing. She tended to get up to mischief at such times. Well, for now it was too early to decide what she really thought of this place, anyway. She liked the fact that there were others here from home – it was good not to be alone.
So, she would wait and see how things played out here. If nothing else, it was a break from the stresses that came with being a country, and it was a new adventure. It couldn't be completely bad, now could it?
