APPLICATIONS
✗ Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
✗ IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.
✗ If you are looking for an example of what an application should be like, please refer to the application here for an example of a canon character application, and here for an original character application.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.
In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.
Re: [CANON] Hotsuma Renjou | Uraboku | No Reserve | 2 of 3
Name: Hotsuma Renjou
Canon: Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru
Age: 16.
Timeline: Before episode 5.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A
Personality: At first glance Hotsuma may seem sullen and rude, and some people have even called him "an unfriendly hothead, with a dirty mouth". And to an extent this is true, but only because the experiences within his past shaped him into the self-loathing, agonized individual he is today.
When we first meet Hotsuma he’s standoffish and rude, and after saving Yuki from death snaps at him over being stupid enough to wander off on his own. He then goes on to say that he hates taking care of people that don’t have their memories, and when Yuki tries to touch him immediately snatches his hand away and states that he doesn’t want to be touched. Once the cavalry arrives he’s quick to leave with his partner in tow, not even bothering to give Yuki a second glance or a goodbye. Throughout the series this doesn’t change much; his relationship with Yuki expands and grows, and he learns to trust again, but as far as his relationships with his peers go it still remains the same. He’s brash, compulsive and quick to lose his temper, several times snapping and yelling at someone/something whenever he gets ticked off.
At the heart of things, though, Hotsuma truly loves people, and was even popular as a child, but hates himself and will do everything he can to push them away, convinced that he will only hurt them in the end when he loses control of his temper and his powers. He does not understand how and why someone would like him, believing himself to be capable of only hurting the people that become close to him. When a girl confessed her feelings to him he automatically became hostile, since they weren’t very close acquaintances, and immediately told her to stop spouting off crap like that without thinking it through. It is his belief that if anyone learns more about him, if anyone gets close to him they will immediately abandon him like when he was younger. If being unfriendly and yelling at them means that he won't start to care about people, then fine, he'll do it. He's even said that he'd prefer not to hurt someone that he loves again.
Deep down, though, Hotsuma is a very lonely person, and will succumb easily to despair and depression if left alone. Earlier in his life, after he had been abandoned and cast off, shunned by all his peers and referred to as a “monster”, he tried to kill himself, questioning if he still existed since nobody was willing to look at him. Shuusei is the one that saved him from this fate, but not without a price, and their relationship reflects that. Shuusei is one of the few people that has remained at his side after being hurt, and because of that he is both one of the most important people to him, and also someone that Hotsuma trusts immensely. This is evidenced by the fact that they have been partners all this time, as Hotsuma has stated that he can't work with someone that he doesn't trust with his life. This is a double edged sword, though, because every time he sees the scar that he left on Shuusei he feels regret for hurting him, and becomes disillusioned by the idea that he has to spend the rest of his life atoning for it.
To sum it all up: Hotsuma is a big baby with trust issues. He believes that he is pretty much incapable of controlling his powers and snaps at people in order to push them away. He does care, and it's funny to consider that he cares so much that he's willing to destroy any friendship he even starts in order to stop from hurting anyone again.

Abilities: Hotsuma possesses the “Voice of God”, and with it can call down hellfire upon his enemies. He can control it, to an extent, but it all depends on how it’s used. However it has been known to act without his knowledge, most significantly when he was trying to protect someone and ended up burning another child. He also possesses a curved blade called Master Stroke, which he summons into existence with the ring on his finger and also uses it to inflict fire on his foes.
