EVENT: Trousers of Time
On Friday, June 23, Ruby City is going to be party to yet another weird happening. This one, though, is a little more expansive than previous events have been. Your lucky characters are going to have access to other worlds! At least for a little while.
ICly, the Trousers of Time event will start not with a bang but with a whimper--or rather a strange coincidence. Sometime the morning of the 23rd, your character will open a door to somewhere totally normal, like the bathroom, and find themselves staring into a portal. Unfortunately, they've already put one foot forward, so . . . guess they're falling through!
They'll find themselves in one of the worlds that once was the home of a character in Ruby City. For example, someone in the Tolkien cast might end up in Night Vale! Yikes. These portals, or Tears, will only remain open for a short amount of time, the duration of which can be anything from minutes to hours at player discretion. Your character will be yanked back to Ruby City when the Tear closes, so there's no danger of being left behind.
They can, however, bounce back to Ruby City with items from the worlds they've visited! Up to three new items, in fact, and that includes weapons--anything that's not gamebreaking. You're welcome to include items your characters would have deliberately picked up while in other worlds, as well as items they wouldn't have chosen but you OOCly want them to have.
Speaking of OOC, here's how this event works on a player level! Obviously every player won't be familiar with every canon in the game. As such, please fill out the form below to give your fellow players a brief description of your character's world as well as some ideas on how to play around in them. We strongly encourage plotting on this post! If you have canonmates and they get to the world description first, feel free to add your thoughts.
Don't be shy of asking your fellow players further questions. In addition, don't feel you have to get other people's canons perfect--just have fun with the information you have and have fun worldhopping!

World Name: Earth - Ancient Greece
Canon description in ten words or less: Greece back in 100 BC or so.
Technology level: Basic technologies of ancient civilizations. Chariots, steel weaponry, dirt roads, wells.
Wildlife: Deer, foxes, wolves, goats, birds, small animals, and the occasional large cat.
Sentient species: Humans, with some gods and similar entities mixed in that nobody would realize aren't human.
What might daily life be like for those in this world? The Greeks are currently at war with Rome, so given the location life could either be brutal in an attacked city or peaceful. Some citizens can go about their daily lives without trouble. Others live in constant fear.
What might a character entering this world encounter first? Depends on where they arrive. Soldiers would be a common occurrence. Arriving in a town would bring a lot of people (who smell) and vendor stands.
What might a character encounter while exploring? Cities will have quite a few shopping opportunities. There is evidence of slavery and depending on the location devastation from battle. Horses are very common.
What dangers might a character encounter? War. Both Roman and Greek soldiers could be a threat to an incoming character.
Other important details: Most likely whatever clothing a character is wearing is going to draw some really weird looks in Ancient Greece.
Canon Name: Chronicles of Nick / Dark Hunter
World Name: Earth - United States - New Orleans, Louisiana
Canon description in ten words or less: The big easy baby, only with lots of supernatural stuff.
Technology level: Typical US technology of 2006.
Wildlife: Gators, birds, turtles, small mammals.
Sentient species: Humans, apollites, daimons, gods/demi-gods, were hunters, a variety of demon species.
What might daily life be like for those in this world? The average human won't realize there is anything supernatural going on. People go about their daily business and enjoy the party scene the is New Orleans.
What might a character entering this world encounter first? Large groups of people partying it up and loving life.
What might a character encounter while exploring? Sanctuary Bar is run by all were hunters, though most humans wouldn't know it. There are also some interesting shops like psychics, erotic sex shops, clubs (including one run by Charonte), and coffee shops selling amazing powdered sugar beignets.
What dangers might a character encounter? Daimons lurk in with the typical humans, and most can't tell them apart. Run into one, and they'll eat your soul. The wrong type of demon is also known to kill or eat humans. Venturing out into the swamp areas will bring the more normal threat of gators.
Other important details: Were hunters are capable of taking both human and animal shape. Without some supernatural senses, you probably can't tell. Most are at least relatively friendly. Running into a Charonte demon will result in you being chased by it while he tries to cover you in barbecue sauce and eat you.
