A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

[OC] Noa Tasi || Original || no reserve || 3 of 4

World Information:

In most ways, Noa’s world is basically just like our own. The history is largely the same, major events play out in almost the same exact fashion, discoveries are found more or less at the same time as they usually are; the only exception is really that Magic plays a role. Magic is simple a part of things where he comes from. It simply Is. Welcome to Magic Realism. Magic Realism is the concept that magic normal in its setting, making it mostly innocuous rather than a big thing that everyone has to blather on about. It is simply a part of people’s day to day lives, to the point that the cat suddenly growing wings is something that people can brush off as yet another trifling accident made by a growing witch or a cunning little wizard. Strange events and Happenings are as normal as running water, to the point that Alice in Wonderland is considered less of a fanciful tale and more of a charming slice of life.

At current, it is July of 1920 in the US of A. Noa’s job as a big cat caretaker and trainer is a good position and he’s rather good at it. The circus is a fairly popular attraction during this time, since people were more accustomed to leaving their homes for entertainment. The world is pretending to be less jaded than it actually is, finding joys in the little things; after all, the war was only 2 years ago. Not even the presence of magic could make the horrors and atrocities of the Great War seem even slightly better. The 20’s are largely a time where people tried to forget their problems, seeking out new things and experiences to keep their mind off their troubles. The circus helps that. The tent at this particular circus is particularly special; the acts underneath it are especially dramatic and full of flare. It works as an enhancer for the magic within, giving it extra sparkle and razzle dazzle.

Noa doesn’t really do an act at the circus, however. He’s more of a behind the scenes sort of guy. The physical effects of his accident stop him from having the confidence to step into the ring; a shame, really, because he can be quite the showman if given the chance. Before that happened, Noa used to be incredibly popular and could make the cats practically dance for him. It doesn’t hurt that he’s basically one of them. (See: Personality. Were-cat, go!)

Though on the surface, his world can seem pretty nice. And in many ways, it is. But like our world, which is oh-so-close to Noa’s own, there are always Problems. Wars still happen, as we’ve already established. Persecution is still very much a thing, whether it be towards gender, race, or sexuality. Cruelty and violence still play heavy roles and many still turn a blind eye on the plight of their fellow man. It’s important to remember that Magic is not a solution in this world; it cannot make things better by itself. It is simply another factor in a sea of others. People are the drivers of change in this world. Magic is just the spice of life.

History:

Noa was born on April 20th of 1892 in southern California. His parents immigrated to the US when they were teenagers, and he spent nearly his entire childhood and teenage years under the hot California sun. Noa is a big fan of water and he loved the beach as a child, running up and down the sand and splashing around until he was too exhausted to move. Noa is not quite the baby of the family, the 4th of 5 children, but he is his mothers favorite regardless. When he was 8, Noa was bit by some kind of feral creature which later turned out to be a were-cat; of course, once the were-cat turned back into a human being, she came and apologized for the incident which was really quite nice of her, considering.

The woman's name was Rebecca and she came from a long line of were-cats and was genuinely sorry for pushing Noa into something without his express permission. She taught him the ropes of how to be the best that he could be and when he got the basics, she left as quickly as the came-- in the form of a giant puma. Which is hella cool, lets be real. Needless to say, Noa used his powers for mischief. They didn't really affect his life at all past the occasional urge to be fuzzy and roll around in pleasant smelling greenery. It wasn't until he reached the ripe age of 18 that Noa's powers really gave him anything beneficial.

It was around that time that a traveling circus rolled into town. Once he was able to, Noa started working, busing tables and doing warehouse work, and luckily enough for him he just so happened to get that fateful night off. The members of the audience and the lion tamer herself were more than a little shocked when their usually reserved and hard to please lioness bounded up to the slightly surprised Noa and tried to curl up in his lap like a housecat.

Hey. He's a ladies man. They just can't keep their paws off of him.

The lion tamer later turned out to be Jillian, Noa's latest employer. The woman immediately realized that Noa had something in him that was meant to be used. He was good with animals, great with people, and had all the charisma to run a show. This was the man she was waiting for. The act needed something special something to bring them some attention. So naturally, she offered him a job. And that's how Noa officially became The Guy Who Feeds The Big Cats. It paid more than any other job he'd had before and with that, he could save up and maybe even go to college one day. So he kissed his mom on the cheek, gave his dad a manly hug, and ran off to join the circus.

The circus was good. It wasn't sunshine and roses, but it was good. The world changed around Noa while he was there, unsinkable ships sank, the social hierarchy was changing, things weren't all horse drawn carriages and steam powered engines. The world was an amazing place. Terrible. And amazing. But its funny, sometimes, how quickly things change. 4 years after joining the circus, early in 1914, Noa lost control. He didn't lose control of himself; he lost control of a cat.

And in the process he lost his arm, half his sight, and all of the money he had saved for his dream of school.

Noa had a connection with the big cats, but he wasn't, at his core, one of them. The cats were still animals and he was still a man. Ultimately, the accident wasn't entirely his fault. A member of the audience erupted in the middle of the set, spooking one of the larger tigers and making it very snappish and hard to work with. When he tried to calm it down and get it out of the ring, it attacked him. Noa had never been scared of the cats before. He wonders, now, if that's why it happened. Did he not respect them enough? Not give them the space and courtesy needed? Was he so blinded by their connection that he forgot that ultimately, these were animals who could rip his throat out in a heartbeat?

He did the best he could to get the cat off of him, changing and shifting in the middle of the ring to try and up his chances, but the cat took him down before anything could be done. When he tries to remember what happened, all he can think about was the pain and the blood and the screaming.

He tries not to think about it.

The cat was put down and Noa's career as a lion tamer was over. The money he saved went towards the medical bills he suddenly acquired and and he was realized then that the circus, which had once been his ticket out, was now a one way trip. There was no getting off this train. No one else in their right mind would hire him. He was a one armed freak show with two cat ears and a tail.

It's been a 6 years since his accident and he's not sure he'll ever fully recover from it. The accident changed who Noa was, really; he used to be more outgoing, more charming, more willing to just try new things and see where the road took him. He still reads and still thinks and still writes but he was naturally left handed and he even if he bought a type writer, using it one handed would be incredibly annoying.

When people see Noa these days, he wears a bandana or a scarf (depending on the weather) over the lower half of his face, hiding the exposure of teeth and gum on the one side. Jillian tries to tell him that it doesn't matter what other people thing, he should just stick it to them and be himself but, well- that's a battle far from won and at this point in time, there's no fixing it.
