APPLICATIONS
✗ Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
✗ IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.
✗ If you are looking for an example of what an application should be like, please refer to the application here for an example of a canon character application, and here for an original character application.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.
In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.
[Part 2]
He doesn't understand. How could he? Tony has no idea of just what he's playing with as he attempts to rile me up enough to bring out the Other Guy. Of course he doesn't know. He's never had to suffer the effects from it, he's never faced the destruction that can come from it.
I just have to remain calm, let it pass over me. No, Big Guy, this isn't for you. I won't let you out, not here, not to hurt these people. Stark is just an asshole with an ego problem.
If he keeps pushing, he may be an ego without a body anymore. I just don't know how long until it happens.
Third Person:
It had been roughly five months since everything had taken place, since Fury came storming into his life with a demand of his mind and body to help save the Earth again. Well, sent someone to storm into his life. Five months since they had stopped a madman and set things right again, and New York had started to repair from the terrible damage that had been wrought to it.
He could see those repairs if he lifted his gaze and looked out the window, but right now the book in his hand was far more interesting. Tony never failed to keep an intriguing selection on hand, and since Bruce had yet to see the man stop long enough to read, he could only assume they were both for show and now to entertain his live-in guest. Not that Bruce was complaining. Tony knew his tastes well enough to chose things he would have chosen for himself, and the things he would not have he still found himself reading cover to cover intently.
With a pair of loose pants and a half buttoned shirt, tucked into the beautiful top story lounge of the Stark Tower, Bruce was refusing to go straight to the lab and instead was enjoying his cup of tea with a good book. He had five months to learn to ignore Tony's roll of the eyes while the other man went straight to work. He was convinced Tony would just suffer a heart attack one day. Personally, he had enough to worry about without adding a morning cup of tea on top of it. It wasn't as if he hadn't spent until three in the morning in the lab, anyway, and it would happen again tonight.
[Part 3]
REVISION REQUESTED
At this time we are requesting revisions before we consider your application for acceptance. Specifically, we are concerned with a few key points; we feel that your application displays an out-of-character tone, making it difficult to pinpoint your character's personality clearly, as well as only providing a very basic idea of the way in which your character's mind works. Moreover, your first-person sample doesn't fit the application's basic requirements. We would like to ask for a general revision on both of those.
We would also like to add that we won't be accepting the use of two different accounts for your character, so we ask you to reconsider that as well.
Re: REVISION REQUESTED
1) On plurk, it was discussed my using of two accounts and no one seemed to have any issue with it. In fact, it was well received. I am not sure who went over my app, so ... there may need to be discussion between you guys? Or is this a change in decision?
2) What do you believe displays an out of character tone? It is a very vague statement I am not sure how to rectify.
REVISION REQUESTED
2) Some specific parts we felt were out-of-character are as follows;
- The examples you showed for Hulk's style of play don't demonstrate any of the complexity he shows, either as a "separate character" or as a usually-restrained aspect of Bruce's own personality. There is more to Hulk than just the mindless tank shown when his change comes involuntarily, and we don't feel that your examples adequately demonstrate that(despite your acknowledgment of this difference in his "Personality" section). Further, the bold-print, sentence-fragment bracket-spam playing is quite simply not the sort of quality of play we would like to see in Ruby City.
- The overall lack of clarification regarding Bruce's thought processes and how they result in the conclusions he draws is a large part of what we felt was OOC. Banner is a very complex character and while obviously we don't expect you yourself to be a super-genius capable of following every nuance of his thinking, we'd like to see a bit more grasp of how he tends to reason(given that his intellect and rationale are such a large part of who he is).
- Most specifically, there's not much mention of how the sudden change of becoming the Hulk has affected Bruce's life, mindset, etc, and this really should make up a huge part of who he is now. You do mention that he tends to withdraw from most social situations, but simply referring to him as an "emotional recluse" is fairly vague and we'd like to see more clarification over how that effects him as an individual.
- Your revised First-Person Sample does look good, however! That's much more along the lines of the sort of thing we were looking for, thank you for taking care of that so handily.
First Person Revision: (my apologies on this as I realize I somehow put the wrong FP all together.)
[This time, though? Fully clothed in the same cheap cotton shirt and pants he's used to. It actually unsettles him more than his normal nude wake up after a Change. So as he sits up, looking around... the train left him on edge as it was a small compartment and the sort of thing he avoided traveling on as much as possible. He doesn't do well inside enclosed spaces. Well, more like the enclosed spaces never did well with him inside them.]
[The train around him has the feeling of age, yet it couldn't possibly be much older than sometime within the last century. His mind begins to play over the possibilities of what country he could be in when his next shift to stand taps something against his thigh. There, attached to a belt loop and hanging on a gold chain... is a pocket watch. A brow lifts as he reaches down, scooping it up into a smooth palm and turning it over. No inscription and nothing like anything he had owned in his life, yet it couldn't have been left by another passenger unless they decided to attach it to his person. He clicks it open and immediately is surprised at what he finds inside.]
[No watch, but instead humming quietly as the screen powers up, providing a reflection of himself in a camera facing towards himself and a small dark crimson dot most people would recognize as the international symbol for 'record'. Is this something Tony had left him? No, no, this doesn't have any of Tony's tastes layered on it. Too old fashioned by far for him.]
[Curious, the scientist sits back down and uses his thumb to tap 'record'. It glows, followed by a small beep, and he can only suspect he is truly being recorded. He says nothing, not knowing it would be broadcasted out over the multitude of other devices given to the city's occupants, assuming it is for himself alone.] Strange. Strange... Why a pocketwatch? Why would the only feature be to record? [A constant stream of thoughts questions the device in every way as he murmurs to himself over the feed before ending the recording with another tap of his thumb.]
[Several of those questions are answered as the record symbol moves leaving several others now to access.] Someone wanted me to record immediately. [The remark leaves him before he thinks to keep it to himself, and the ideas that come with the remark leave him all the more uneasy. It leaves behind the feeling of being watched.]
[If there's one thing Bruce Banner hates, it's being watched by unknown eyes.]
