A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.
In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

In 1386 came the Treaty of Windsor, the start of the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance and her first time meeting England. The two hit it off immediately, the start of a romance that would last until the time of the Iberian Union in the latter part of the 16th and into the 17th century.
Portugal was there at the start of her empire, when her King John and his entire family traveled to the Islamic trading city Ceuta on the North African coast across from Gibraltar. It was a family-affair conquest, the first of Portuguese imperial holdings. One of the royal sons on that first trip, Prince Henry the Navigator, later became the pioneer of maritime exploration – he is remembered today as Henry the Navigator, and Portugal traveled with as many of his captains as she could, learning everything they had to teach. After Henry's death, she had trouble involving herself in later expeditions – his support had been crucial – but she got around this by dressing as a boy and sneaking aboard anyway, to the frustration of whoever happened to be her king at the time. In this way she was directly involved in some of the conquests of her people, though few ever realized it. One who did was Brazil – Brazil was her little brother, who she named Afonso, and hoped to have a second chance at a proper sibling bond with. (By this time her relations with her brother, Spain, were abysmal.)
As noted above, the Iberian Union temporarily broke the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance. The reason for this is because in 1580, Portugal's king died without a clear heir. Philip II of Spain, a claimant through his mother, a Portuguese princess, claimed the throne. Though Portugal was technically autonomous, all foreign policy was made to match that of Spain, and at the time Spain and England were enemies. Centuries later, that is the one thing she won't forgive Spain for, though she is trying to forgive the other things.
The Iberian Union broke in 1640, after later Spanish kings treated the Portuguese – particularly the nobles – worse and worse. They lost Ceuta when the city refused to give up allegiance to Spain, and Spain did not recognize Portuguese independence until 1668. During this century, enough Portuguese citizens emigrated to Brazil that such emigration was banned, and Brazil gained enough importance to be elevated to vice-kingdom status rather than just being a colony. Portugal herself was thrilled to see her brother growing up, and with her people there she assumed he would grow to be like her.

Portugal was invaded by Napoleon during his conquests – and she was furious at having to bow to France's short little boss. In 1820 she lost Brazil, and in 1890 she was betrayed by England's bosses, her military forced out of Mozambique and Angola in order to further British interests. The only reason she doesn't blame England for this is because as far as she knows, it was not his idea. She believes this fully – if it's true or not, who can say? This, however, led eventually to such discontent among her people that her government collapsed.
The 20th century was a time of upheaval for her. She had a republic starting from the October 1910 Revolution, but her politics remained fractured. It only got worse when she involved herself in WWI, officially joining in 1916. The infighting continued afterwards – there was a brief civil war in 1918 – eventually ending in the New State (Estado Novo) a dictatorship that lasted until the 1970s. In the last decades of the 20th century, Portugal let go of the last of her colonies, ending with Macau, who returned to China with Hong Kong (let go of by Britain) in 1997.
Today she is part of the European Union, NATO, the UN, and still recovering from decades of a dictatorship that quashed development and forced a conservative regression. But she is getting there, and is very much a modern country. She;s just still trying to adapt herself to being such.

Abilities: She has no supernatural abilities, save that she can see magical creatures when around England.
Relationships to Canon Characters: She was previously in a relationship with England (Anglo-Portuguese Alliance) and they're still friends today, though she tends to be a bit flirty with him. She knows Austria, as they were once in-laws.
First Person: [When Portugal wakes up on the train, her first thought is that she is not supposed to be here. Is this some kind of prank being pulled on her by her aggravating brother and his friends? It's possible – the hostility of previous centuries is reduced to that now, after all. But... Something tells her no, especially when she is propelled off the train by an unseen force. Glancing around at what appears to be a ghost town, she frowns, eyes sharp.]
Mãe de Deus... What is this place?
[She starts walking, and this is when she notices the fact that there's something in her pocket besides her cell phone. She takes that out first, though, only to find that it doesn't work. Then she takes out the pocketwatch, frowning at it.]
This is not mine... How did I get this?
[For now she keeps walking, though – it's likely that the town isn't entirely deserted or else a train wouldn't come here, so she just has to keep going until she finds someone.]
Third Person: So. Portugal wasn't sure how she felt about – once again – being confined against her will. At least, while she had no ability to leave, within the city she was more or less free to exercise her free will. That was an improvement over her other experiences of being forced into things. But at the same time, she couldn't deny that the situation was unsettling. And not just unsettling, but possibly dangerous.
And, all right, she had to admit that bit didn't bother her at all. Truth to tell, she'd been insanely bored at home, and a bored Madalena was never a good thing. She tended to get up to mischief at such times. Well, for now it was too early to decide what she really thought of this place, anyway. She liked the fact that there were others here from home – it was good not to be alone.
So, she would wait and see how things played out here. If nothing else, it was a break from the stresses that came with being a country, and it was a new adventure. It couldn't be completely bad, now could it?
