A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

[canon] Matthew Williams / Canada || Axis Powers Hetalia || reserved || 2 of 2

[personal profile] puckoff 2013-04-19 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
First Person:
[ Matthew meanders through the bookshop, running his fingers lightly over the spines of some of the books he passes over. His violet eyes scan the titles, catching on certain words that intrigue him and passing over the majority that don't. Finally, he stops on a book with plain white lettering and a simple one-word title. Nothing flashy. It was hard to say from the cover exactly what was even inside. Perfect. He knew better than to judge any book by a beautiful cover; oftentimes those were the ones with the impressive stories he could not even stomach more than a few pages of. The subdued story with a subtle wit and strong characters is the one he prefers. Carrying the novel over to the counter, he's checked out by a friendly Quebecoise with a round face and curly red hair. ]

Merci beaucoup.

[ Exiting the shop, he breathes in the cold air as snowflakes start to fall. With his right thumb, Matthew flips through the pages as he walks back down the street toward home. The smell of the paper and ink makes him smile. Second only to the smell of cooking pancake batter, he thinks to himself as he tucks the book under his arm and walks through the falling snow back home. A new book and a cup of tea sounds like a perfect way to get through the upcoming blizzard. ]

Third Person:
With a clatter, Matthew stamped his feet as he jumped off of the couch. "Come on, come on, come on! Get it in- fuck you!" he shouted at the television screen, his face set in an uncharacteristic scowl. He ran an irritated hand through his hair as the Canadiens blocked another goal. Flopping onto the couch, he folded his arms as Montreal regained control.

It was hockey season; specifically, the NHL was knee-deep into finals, and his team was finally up for a chance to take the coveted Stanley Cup again. Dressed in a pair of jeans and a baggy Toronto jersey, Matthew flopped back onto the couch. "Never going to make it at this rate," he seethed, folding his hands and staring intently at the screen again. Matthew was not the type to usually let his temper get the best of him, but there is an exception to every rule, and hockey was his.

As it was Canada's favorite sport, Matthew followed suit and turned into a sports nut around this time. The capital city may be Ottawa, but as Toronto had the largest population by far of any of his cities, Matthew found himself favoring the Maple Leafs over the Senators. It was unabashedly his favorite city, with its bustling metropolis, diverse citizens, and long history. Not to mention that the Ottawa Senators had just reformed in 1990 after an almost 60 year hiatus, and he'd gotten into hockey long before that and been sticking with the Maple Leafs ever since.

Normally, Matthew was just like most of his citizens: he was polite and quiet, at best he maybe got a bit snarky. But when the Canadiens were beating the snot out of the Maple Leafs, things were very different. When a hockey game was on, all bets were off on what came out of Matthew's mouth. Matthew became comparable to any rabid sports fan. Alfred had his football, Arthur had rugby (or was it cricket?), and Matthew had this.

When the phone rang, he swallowed his temper, muted the TV and slid a finger across the screen to answer. "Hello?" he asked politely, his violet eyes twitching at the screen when he dared to look. "No, no, I'm fine, how are you?" Taking deep breaths and keeping a calm face, he did his best to not blow off his friend on the other end. His eyes widened and a finger curled around his ahoge as one the Maple Leafs' centers skated toward the goal, raised his stick with the puck, made a shot and- Matthew dropped his phone and screamed so loud the people above him started banging on the roof. Scrambling for the remote and his phone he turned the volume down and resumed the phone call. "I'm so, so sorry I- Hello?" Oh, now he felt bad. He grimaced and almost pressed redial but his fingers faltered as his attention zoned back into the screen for the last 4 minutes of the game. The call could wait, but he made sure to remind himself to return it.

[Canon] Ruby Lucas || Once Upon a Time || Reserved || 2 of 3

[personal profile] cloaklikeblood 2013-04-19 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
The first step to understanding Ruby is to understand that there are major two halves to her. First, there is Red Riding Hood, the woman with the red hood and shattered past. This is who she was in the Enchanted Forest before the curse. The second is Ruby Lucas, the rebellious small town waitress with a penchant of screwing up with flair. There are similar aspects to both personalities, but they are still two separate people. When the curse broke, both personalities merged. However, Red still struggles with finding peace with both of her personas.

Both Ruby and Red are unfalteringly loyal to her friends. When Emma was looking for Ashley Boyd, Ruby sent her to Ashley's ex-boyfriend's house. This gave Ashley enough time to pack up a few things and get back to the diner where Ruby gave the pregnant young woman the keys to her car so that she could leave town. Red displays this same trait many times over when she saves Snow from Anita, when she delivers food to Snow and tells her that Charming has stopped the wedding to Abigail, and when she fights by Snow and Charming's side in the war that they waged against King George.

Ruby and Red are both very kind hearted and are more than willing to help a stranger. With Red, this is seen when she offers Snow a place to stay when they first meet. With Ruby, we see this when she's friendly with Emma despite her being an outsider and despite the things that Regina tries to do to her.

Both personas were very adventurous, always wanting to get away. Before Red discovered that she was the wolf, she longed to leave the little town that she lived in with Peter and get away from her Granny's many rules. Ruby also longed to be out in the world, having adventures and "chasing lemurs." When she had her first taste of adventure, it frightened her but she didn't let it stop her.

There is also a courage and a strength to her that is seen many times. It can be seen when Red's willing to sacrifice her life to help Peter because she believes him to be the wolf. It can be seen again when she gets control of her wolf and stands up to Anita in order to prevent her mother from killing Snow. It's also seen when she stands up to Regina after the curse is broken, despite the fact that Regina is once more wielding magic.

Despite her courage and strength, there is also a strong fear. She fears that she will lose control of the wolf and hurt those that she cares about. This is first seen when she learns that she is the wolf and that she ate Peter. Upon discovering that there is a rip in her cloak, she sends Snow away in order to keep from hurting her. After transforming the first time in twenty-eight years after the curse is broken and she thinks she killed Billy, she fears that she's going to kill or hurt the others that she cares about and begs to be locked up.

She also is far too self sacrificing for her own good. The most prominent example of this is when she chains Belle up in the library and goes to face the angry mob that's out for her blood. There is also evidence of her putting other people's happiness before her own and how she's willing to give up her nights and personal time to help out her friends. This can be mainly seen during all the times that she babysits Henry for Emma.

Ruby is also very determined to make a new life for herself, despite her past. In her conversation with Whale the night that she prevents him from committing suicide, she tells him that she sees Regina's curse as a second chance. She also mentions that she's determined to take this second chance to make a life for herself, for what it's worth.

The wolf is also an integral aspect of Ruby's overall personality. Both personas have shown wolfish traits including loyalty and strong ties to those that she considers part of her "pack." Originally, however, the wolf was a mindless killing machine with no ability to tell the difference between friend or foe. However, after she gains control over the wolf, the wolf becomes a lot more tame and humane. The wolf still shows a ferocity in battle and moves by instinct.

First Person:
[Ruby's confused beyond belief as she steps off the train and peers around. None of this made any sense whatsoever. She'd been going home after getting the news on that outsider at the hospital only to wake up on a train. Now she's in some strange city that was probably as far from Storybrooke as she could get.

It doesn't take her long to find the strange pocket watch that she didn't remember having beforehand. Frowning slightly, she begins playing with the buttons. For someone who spent twenty-eight years in a town that automatically updated its technology with each passing year, she's surprisingly incompetent when it comes to tech.

She accidentally activates the video function, blinking in surprise once she realizes what she's done
]

Um, hello?

[She's nervous and unsure, but gives a smile anyway]

I seem to be a bit lost. Where am I exactly?

[A sudden thought occurs to her, causing her to frown]

Did we get cursed again? But if we did, then why do I remember...?

[She looks frustrated and even more confused than before. She glances around, desperately hoping that a familiar face appears out of the darkness]

Third Person:
Screams echoed through her mind as she ran, all four legs pistoning beneath her. The wind blew through her fur and the smell of burning buildings and flesh flooded her nose. She paused to tilt her head upwards and howl up at the beautiful silver moon that shone down upon the scene of destruction around her. It had been far too long since she had been allowed to roam free, to kill at will.

A name was being called, causing the wolf to stiffen. She turned slowly towards the sound, lowering her body to the ground. A growl ripped itself from her throat as her fur stood up on end. At this point, most men would have turned and run, but not this one. He was frightened, that much the wolf could smell, but he kept coming towards her.

He was calling her that name, the name that belonged to her human half. His voice was low and soothing, but his words meant nothing. This man meant a lot to her human half, but absolutely nothing to her. Her urge to kill this man rose the closer that he edged towards her. Oh, this doctor was foolish. Far too foolish for his own good.

The wolf lowered herself to the ground, backing up a few steps before launching herself at her prey. Her jaws went straight for his throat, yearning to taste that hot wet blood running in her mouth.

Ruby woke up with a jolt, her hair and sheets soaked with sweat. She trembled violently as the tears filled her eyes, spilling onto her cheeks. The nightmare was getting worse as Wolf's Time grew closer. She could smell the burning flesh, feel the hot blood, feel the wind through her fur. It made her stomach churn and her breath catch in her throat.

She rolled out of bed, half stumbling towards the shower. It was about time for her to get up, anyway. She had promised Granny that she would open the diner and allow her to get a little extra sleep. She'd been a tad under the weather lately and Ruby was worried. Between Granny's health, Regina's antics, the outsiders in town, and worrying herself sick over Snow and the others, she was a ball of constant worry and tension.

She never showed it, though. She felt as if she couldn't show it, especially not to her friends. Ruby was the one that people looked to for strength, for advice, for warmth and gentleness. She couldn't let them know how worried she was or about her nightmares. They all had so much on their plates already and she really didn't want to add anymore.

These days, Ruby felt so very alone. Everyone was too busy running around town stopping Regina or whatever problem had decided to rear its head this week. Sure, she had Henry and she loved the little guy, but it just wasn't the same. A ten year old simply wasn't that good of a conversationalist when it came to things like feelings and about the wolf.

It seemed that the only thing that she really had to look forward to lately is the time that she brought a certain doctor his lunch every day. Those few moments just sitting with him, chatting about whatever was really nice. It was these stolen moments that helped Ruby forget about her own loneliness and she could only hope that it helped Dr. Whale as well.

She stepped out of the shower, the effects of the dream fading away. Her stomach still churned, but that was easily ignored. Ruby toweled off her hair, debating on what outfit to wear. Should she go for something bright and flashy or something a bit darker? Darker, definitely. She just wasn't in the mood for bright and flashy today.

Some time later, Ruby was bustling around the diner and performing a few last preparations before she opened it up. She had already put on her happy face, hiding all of her fears and her loneliness. No one would bother to look beneath the surface, to try to see how she truly felt. No one really cared, as long as they got a bright smile and a good meal.

She flicked the sign from Closed to Open before sighing and glancing at the clock. How much longer until lunch?

[CANON] Adam Milligan || Supernatural || Reserve Expired || 2 of 3

[personal profile] didntgetthatmemo 2013-04-19 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Adam is something of a special case, considering we never see him exactly as he was in life. When the Winchester brothers first meet him, it’s not their half-brother that meets them at the diner, but a ghoul wearing his face instead, with the real Adam and his mother having been killed days if not weeks beforehand. That said, the ghoul’s representation of Adam seems to be fairly accurate – he’s taken on more than just Adam’s appearance, but also his thoughts, feelings and memories.

Those who knew Adam in life act as though there’s nothing out of the ordinary when they interact with him. He shows himself to be respectful and well-mannered, evidenced in the way he talks to and thanks the waitress taking care of them when he first meets with Sam and Dean. He is both intelligent and hard-working, a pre-med student at the University of Wisconsin. Even though Adam’s first appearance is made by an imposter, it still gives us a glimpse of how family-oriented is, as he spends most of his time being torn up and worried sick about the disappearance of his mother. She’s the only family he’s ever really known, despite the annual birthday visits he received from John Winchester during his teenage years, and he is fiercely protective of her. The way he sees it, his mother worked hard as a single parent and did her best to give him everything she thought he deserved – he’s insistent on showing her that same kind of dedication.

His mother, unfortunately, is also his blind spot, and the importance he places on family can and has been used to manipulate him. It was the angels that brought Adam back from the dead, promising him that if he did all they asked and served as Michael’s vessel, he would be rewarded with getting to see his mother again. It was enough to make the decision to help them a simple one, at least in his eyes, and no matter how much Sam and Dean tried to impress on him that the angels were trying to manipulate him, he refused to bend. He’d made a promise, and he had every intention to keep it. When Sam tried to pull the “family sticks together” card to try and get Adam to give them the benefit of the doubt concerning the angels and their intentions, Adam’s response made his feelings on the situation crystal clear:

”No, John Winchester was some guy who took me to a baseball game once a year. I don’t have a dad. So we may be blood, but we are not family. My mom is my family. And if I do my job, I get to see her again. So no offense, but she’s the one I give a rat’s ass about, not you.”

Having been raised in a single-parent home, Adam is very independent and self-sufficient, having learned to take care of himself at a young age out of necessity. His mother was a nurse who worked the graveyard shift, and Adam states plainly that he spent his childhood making his own dinners and putting himself to bed. He never held a grudge against his mother for her absence, but instead appreciated how hard she worked to make sure their lives were as comfortable as possible. All of his bitterness was directed towards John, though John did turn up when Adam was twelve and made an effort to be involved in the boy’s life, even if it was rather minimally. The time spent with John clearly meant something to Adam; not all of the memories are bad, as evidenced by the photos he’s kept of the two of them together at one of the baseball games John took him to, but he can’t help being angry and feeling cheated that he never had the opportunity to have a real father.

While he doesn’t have anything personal against either Sam or Dean, the fact remains that he’s jealous of them, no matter how many times they tell him their childhood was less than ideal. Sam tells Adam that the only thing worse than only getting to see John once or twice a year was having to see him every day, but Adam insists that he “would have taken anything.” Anything would have been better than no father at all. If the timing had been better – that is, if the real Adam had been given the chance to meet his brothers when they weren’t being forced into the middle of a war – he would have been eager to get to know the both of them, hinted at when the ghoul posing as Adam shows excitement over learning he has brothers at all. The promise of being part of a family is incredibly appealing to him, but he’s uncertain about whether or not he and his brothers will have that “dewy-eyed bromance” Sam proposed.

Adam is a person who puts a premium on loyalty and dedication, someone who keeps his promises once they’re made. Once he gives his word, he’s not likely to go back on it. His determination stems from that Winchester stubbornness, a trait that’s extremely prominent in each and every member of the family. He believes in working hard for what you want, something he learned from watching his mom while he was growing up. Considering the fact that he’s only nineteen and he’s already solid in his decision to study pre-med, he’s not afraid of setting the bar high and doing whatever it takes to accomplish his goals. Considering how much stock he puts in his own promises, he is easily blindsided by betrayal and takes it very seriously – it cuts deep. Because he wouldn’t do such a thing himself, he doesn’t expect it of other people, which implies a certain level of naïveté. How horrified he looked when he realized the angels had lied to him about their deal and only intended to use him as bait for Dean was evidence enough of that. He expected them to keep their word, just as he intended to keep his, and was not only disappointed, but angry at their exploiting his love of his family and his personal moral code to suit their own purposes.

First Person: [The young man that appears on the watch seems to be rather disoriented, though it looks like there may be more to it than just the usual confusion of someone who’s just stepped off the train. A clear view of the station can be seen over his shoulder, and he looks towards one of the posters that’s been put up with the intention of helping newcomers, pursing his lips slightly as he reads it. The watch hadn’t taken him long to figure out; a little bit of experimental button-pushing and he figured he’d touched on all of its functions. It wasn’t nearly as complicated as most cell phones he’d seen.

When he turns his attention back to the video feed itself, he appears to be dazed, unfocused. A lot had happened. He hadn’t expected to see anything remotely resembling being top-side again, but as much as this place looks like earth, he can’t be sure it’s not some kind of trick. Either it’s another one of Hell’s “diversions,” or there are angels intervening again.

Not that he knows why they’d want to bother, at this point. They’d made it pretty damn clear. It wasn’t him they were interested in. Not really. He had been bait. Someone to break and hold hostage until Dean did what he wanted them to.

He finally decides to speak, and when he does so, his voice is hoarse – either from disuse, injury, or something else. It’s impossible to tell, at any rate.]

Hey. What is this place?

[His voice is wary, distrustful. He’s learned his lesson about trusting people.]

Ruby City… sounds made-up. Like something out of a kids’ book.

[Whether it was angels or demons, someone has to be screwing with him.]

If it’s all the same, I’d rather not play any more of these games.

Third Person: He’d had enough. He was tired of sitting on his hands, tired of listening to people talk about him like he wasn’t there, like he couldn’t hear their voices in the next room, trying to figure out what the hell to do with him. It was obvious that these so-called brothers of his didn’t trust him. They expected him to hit the bricks the first chance he got, so they were keeping him on lockdown, under the guise of bonding. Looking out for family. Sticking together.

Yeah. Right.

He couldn’t blame them for not trusting him to stay put. He’d been pretty open about his view of the situation. He’d been given a job. The angels were tired of waiting for Dean to come around and give them the “yes” they wanted, so they’d moved on to Adam. He might not have been their first choice, but the deal they’d offered him was too good to give up. A chance to see his mom again. Rewarded with eternity in Heaven once the job was done. All for letting Michael use his body so he could fight Lucifer.

He’d already been dead. It seemed like a fair trade. He had nothing to lose, and he’d promised. He always kept his promises. It was something he’d always done. He wasn’t going to stop now, just because a couple of strangers he happened to be related to by blood wanted him to hear them out and do things their way. He had a job to do. If he did it right, he would get to see his mother. Simple as that.

He strained his ears just long enough to make sure he could still hear people talking in the next room before he got to his feet and started for the back door. If he was lucky, he’d be able to put some serious distance between himself and this place before anyone noticed.

[It's far from the first time Minako's set foot off a train headed to a new place, but it's definitely the first time she has no idea where she is going. She didn't really notice at first that she was all alone while in transit, but she is a self-reliant sort of person. While she had grown to enjoy the presence of those around her, she is able to entertain herself, and she can keep herself company if she needs to.

...just how long had she been asleep, though? Is this some sort of dream? She quickly brings a hand to her forehead.]

Huh. The fever's gone...[She's usually quick to recover from these sorts of things.] Though I guess if this is a fever dream, there's nothing saying I have to be running a fever in the dream, right? [She giggles to herself a bit, realizing that she's probably talking to herself again.

She has yet to notice that she now has a watch dangling from the waistline of her skirt, let alone that it's currently open and 'on'.

She steps out onto the platform, shading her eyes as the sun hit them. She smiles, though her words don't seem to match her expression exactly.]

Now I know I'm dreaming. This doesn't look like any part of Japan I'm familiar with!

[She reaches her arms above her head and arches her back into a long, drawn-out stretch before throwing her arms to her sides. On the plus side, that just means that her friends aren't gone - they're just waiting for her for when she wakes up!]

Sorry about that! New first person as follows:

video;

Uh, hello?

[Frankly, she's not exactly sure where she was, or why she was on the train in the first place. Who even rides trains anymore? The last thing she remembers is being on the Watchtower, the clock striking midnight. Kissing Robin. She looks down at herself, mental checklist. Still in uniform, so everything still happened, right? Right.]

Does anyone know the quickest way back home? I've got school in the morning. And I'm sure my friends will be looking for me. I'd hate to say it, but you really don't want to make them mad. They're kind of superheroes. [She pauses, looking confused.] Kind of superheroes? Sidekicks? I'm not sure what you'd exactly call us.

[She shrugs.] Anyway, I still need to get home. You can't exactly just skip out after you've saved the Justice League. I'm sure we'd at least get a thanks out of Batman, and I don't want to miss that.

I mean, who would want to miss out on that? It's Batman.
