A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

[FANDOM] ÉPONINE THÉNARDIER || Les Misérables || reserve || 2 of 4

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-06-29 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Eponine Thenardier is not an easy girl to describe. Though she's quite young, she's gone through more hardships than most people in their lives should ever have gone through. Though she was raised by a rather aristocratic-for-the-small-town family in Montfermiel, France, very early on in life, she lost everything she'd had, and was forced to leave the comfortable life her family had, in favor of the slums of Paris. It's there that Eponine changed from the spoiled, bratty girl to the damaged, bright young woman that exists today.

Eponine has no sense of morals, understandably, given that she'd been raised at her father's knee, learning to charge the patrons of the inn for absolutely everything. This then translated to proper theft in Paris, when her father fell in with a gang of layabouts, the Patron-Minette. Eponine, as the eldest Thenardier child, came in quite often to do their work, playing distraction, look-out, or even taking part in their schemes. Eponine is fearless, for she's seen the worst of people, and the worst side of life, and knows she can take it. This is something she's quite proud of, and has no qualms about sharing. She's proud, in a strange sort of way, of who she is, just as much as she is ashamed of herself. The shame, however, comes in from comparing herself to the wealthy people around her, and daydreaming about lives she will never have, but could have once belonged to her. Within all of this, she has grown to hate herself, and her lot in life. Shortly before her death, when she was called an angel, she corrected the man, informing him that she was indeed a devil. And she believes it. She sees no reason to live most days, and has even spoken openly about the desire to kill herself. This has turned her into a bold young woman, who will not let anything stand in her way.

She's seen the way the other half lives, and she hates it. She envies them, but somewhere within all of that, she loathes these people for having what she can't have. Not because she's never had it, but because she once had dolls and kittens and fine woolen petticoats, and now, she remains dressed in threadbare rags with no shoes to call her own. While her parents have made part of their living soliciting wealthy aristocrats for money, Eponine, if left to her own devices, will refuse it. She'd rather steal then have someone give something to her, because it implies that she needs help and that only they can help her. Eponine is extremely capable of helping herself. If she was in a bad position that she didn't want to be in, she would leave. She'd fight her way out, tooth and nail, and refuse to play the victim. She's poor, and terrible, but she has some pride left over.

Living in such poor conditions, Eponine spent the majority of her life alone. She had no one to relate to, save her mother and younger sister, and longs for someone she can call a companion. When she finds someone that will speak to her, she'll prattle on for hours and hours, dogging their steps to simply be near them. She creates relationships in her head that aren't truly there, desperate for friendship and companionship. And for those that she gives these roles, she loves dearly. She's a strange woman, with no decent way to express these emotions, and subsequently, comes off as too strong, or even delusional.

She is, of course, delusional in some ways. Living in poverty, Eponine hasn't seen a proper meal since she can remember. The hunger often effects her by giving her hallucinations. In order to starve off the hunger, she turns to drink, which only, in the end, makes everything worse and causes Eponine to be extremely mentally unstable.

Having gone from having so much to having nothing at all, Eponine has turned into a very selfish young woman. If she wants something, she will not let anything stand in her way until she gets it. The reason she went to the barricade, in the first place, after all, was to die alongside the man she loved, believing that if she couldn't have him, no one else will. In order to do this, she hid the letter that his beloved had given to her to give to him, and manipulated him into going to the barricade, too, with suicide in mind. The only reason Eponine even attempted to stop the bullet from killing him was because she didn't want to live in a world without him, and knew he would die shortly after she fell.

And yet, Eponine is friendly, for all her quirks. She likes to speak to people, even if it oversteps boundaries. Having been conversing with men since she was younger, she finds it easiest to flirt with them in order to achieve conversation (or whatever ends it is she wants). She's been around, to put it politely, which, in 19th century France, was rather frowned upon. But she is under no illusion that she's beautiful. She isn't. She's skinny and starved, but, like everything else, Eponine refuses to let that hold her down.

Though much of her personality seems to be contradictory, this in and of itself is very characteristic of Eponine herself. She's hard to predict, and is often subject to the whims of her emotions at any given time. She will scream and yell at you, or sing in the middle of a robbery or in public with no shame at all, but then she'll blush to be seen without a shawl at the same time. It's been hypothesized that, had Eponine been alive in modern times, she would be a strong candidate for borderline personality disorder. Eponine is wild, Eponine is free, and Eponine is as terrible as she is loving. And she will never make any excuses for it.

[FANDOM] ÉPONINE THÉNARDIER || Les Misérables || reserve || 3 of 4

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-06-29 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Background: Éponine grew up the oldest of three children at The Sergeant at Waterloo inn in Montfermiel, France. When she was no older than three, her parents took in a young girl named Cosette, in order to help Cosette's mother out. But the Thenardier's were a selfish bunch, and soon put Cosette to work, acting as her mother's servant, and scapegoat for the Thenardier girls. This continued until Eponine was seven, and Cosette was taken away by a man sent by her mother. Her mother and father's rages turned on to Eponine and her sister, Azelma, and soon thereafter, they lost the inn and were forced to move to Paris for work.

Business never did well for the Thenardiers, and M. Thenardier found it easiest to choose a less-than-honorable way to make ends meet, bringing his whole family into a life of crime. They lived together in Gorbeau House, a boarding house, and that is where Eponine met the love of her life, Marius Pontmercy. Marius was a boy a few years older than her, and Eponine fell madly in love with him, though he never viewed her as more than a friend, remaining oblivious to her affections.

One day, while Eponine and Marius were together, Marius bumped into a young woman dressed in black with an older man beside her. Marius was instantly stricken, and demanded that Eponine do her best to find her. Eponine recognized the girl as a ghost from her past, Cosette, come back to haunt her. In an effort to keep Marius' attention, and to see him smile at her, Eponine lead Marius to the home where Cosette lived with her 'father'.

That same night, Eponine's father and the Patron-Minette, who had also recognized Cosette and her father, moved to rob the house. Eponine spotted them, and knowing that Marius was in the garden, stood up to her father, and screamed to warn Marius and the Fauchelevants that they were in danger. Patron-Minette scattered, and Valjean, Cosette's father, panicked, believing that his past as a convict and parole breaker had been discovered, promised to spirit Cosette away to England. Hearing this, Cosette left a letter for Marius, which Eponine intercepted.

Reading the letter, she learned of Valjean's plan, and knew what that if Marius ever received this letter, he would know where to find Cosette, and leave to live with her forever. Having nothing to live for if Marius was gone, she kept the letter from Marius. Believing that Cosette had abandoned him, Marius resolved to join the revolution that his fellow-students had been planning, with the express plans to get shot and die.

Luckily, Eponine had the same thing in mind for the both of them. Disguising herself as a boy, Eponine joined Marius at the barricade, deciding to get herself killed first, for Marius would certainly fall after. She saw her chance when a member of the French National Guard aimed a musket at Marius. Acting quickly, she grabbed the barrel of the gun, and turned it towards herself. The shot was fatal.

But not instantly. Not before Eponine had time to confess her feelings to Marius, and give him Cosette's letter. In turn, she asked for Marius to kiss her on the forehead after she died, which he obliged.

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eponine_Thenardier

Strengths/Weaknesses: STRENGTHS: - Manipulative
- Stealthy when she is in the mood for it
- Screaming, she has a full set of pipes
- Lying
- Eponine can hold her liquor like few others can.
- Wonderful at climbing anything, from trees to gates.
- Very street smart
- Tracking and stalking people.

WEAKNESSES: - Well, she's 5' 1'' and hardly weighs 90 pounds, so her physical size is quite a weakness.
- Marius Pontmercy
- Often lacks common sense
- Unstable
- Socially awkward, often unable to pick up social cues.
- Doesn't know when to back down

Abilities: Eponine is literate, a somewhat rare quality for girls in her situation, and is very proud of this. She's a wonderful climber, and can steal and pick-pocket with the best. If you need someone to be found, feel free to ask Eponine.

Other than that, Eponine really has no special skills that would set her apart from the usual person on the street. She's an impoverished human girl who has learned to survive on the streets.

[CANON] ÉPONINE THÉNARDIER || Les Misérables || reserve || 4 of 4

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-06-29 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
First Person: [The image on the screen moves around shakily, the young woman holding the pocket-watch trying to make sense of it. Finally, there's a close up of her dark eye before she pulls back, frowning at it, and the image seems to still.] This isn't a pocket-watch I've ever seen. It doesn't wind, there's just-- What does-- oh! [She's pushed a button, an an image of herself, as she appears in the watch, pops up. After a moment, she smiles at it, pushing her hair out of her eyes and straightening out her hat.]

It's a small mirror. With more buttons, but it's a watch. Wonder where it came from. I didn't bring it with me to the barricade, and I didn't loot any corpses. I was the-- [She stills, glancing around her.] I was the first to die.

Perhaps this place is hell. [She laughs, tossing her head back.] What a fine thing it is! Me, in hell, with only a mirror to look at myself with and think of all the things I've done! And here I thought my fate would be worse!

Third Person: The last thing Eponine remembered, before the train, was looking up into the eyes of Marius Pontmercy, shivering as blood left her body to mingle with the rain that fell. She remembered, she was sure Marius had kissed her on the forehead, but perhaps, that was just the jolt of the train coming to a stop.

Eponine opened her eyes and looked around as she stood up, assessing her surroundings. She was on a train and had apparently been laying down on one of the benches. Looking down, she realized the dark stain of her own blood on her chemise was only just beginning to dry. But… She reached down and gingerly touched it. Her skin, where the bullet had pierced her, was solid.

Where the hell was she?

She was the only person here, was the next thing she noticed, followed shortly by the darkening skies and mist outside. Adjusting her hat, she made up her mind then and there to find a way out of this train. It didn't take long, marching in a straight line till she found a door leading out to the platform.

"Hello?" She called, her voice low and hoarse. This was not Paris. This was… nowhere she'd ever been. Pulling her coat tighter around her, she began to search for some sort of indication where she was. Or, better yet, how the hell she was still alive. She'd taken a bullet to the stomach. She'd felt her life leaving her. She had her blood on her shirt, and yet, she was living, breathing.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" She called louder this time, slowly beginning to traverse the platform. "This isn't a place I've ever been, and I'd like to know where I am! Or if I'm alone- which is hardly unusual- Then, I--!" she cut off with a small shriek as the train behind her blows the whistle and speeds off into the blackness.

Eponine watched the train as it disappeared, hardly daring to breathe in the intense silence that followed the departure of the train. Once again, she realized, as she stuffed her hands into what was now her over-sized coat, she was completely and utterly alone. Despite that grim fact, she couldn't help but smile into the blackness, a hoarse laugh bubbling from her throat. Alone. Of course. She was always alone, why should death be any different?

Aw, it always gets me with the past tense!! Is that the only thing that needs revising, or should I write up a different sample? I know the premise is a bit sillier than usual.

In any case, I think I've caught all the verbs, so it should be fixed now.

[CANON] Chouza Habaki | Itsuwaribito Utsuho | Reserved | 2/?

[personal profile] poisonedclaws 2013-06-30 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Chouza is the “straight man” to Uzume's idiot, and to when anyone else in their group act incredibly stupid. If someone says or does something idiotic, he's the first one to retort with common sense. He's the first one to scold someone when they do something that they shouldn't have done. He's the type of guy to use a lot of sarcasm, and he is not easily impressed. Otherwise, he is a pretty calm guy, who effortlessly acts like an Uzume-dictionary to when he says the wrong word and no one gets what he tries to say. His own reasoning can be a bit off too, sometimes, with a simple example being when Kuroha tells him to kill a child and he refuses because the weather is nice.
But of course, there are things that triggers roaring laughter even from him. Like when Kuroha lost her mask, and painted a face on a bag that she used instead. It was just so wrong, weird and hilarious to see Kuroha looking like that. And sometimes, Uzume's silly personality amuses him.

It's difficult for him to trust people, and the scars run deep. He can only trust someone that proves themselves worthy of that trust. Because of the pain he has suffered both mentally and physically ever since he was small, he didn't know that people were possible of being trusted, he didn't understand how some people could put their life in someone else's hands. But then he met and got to know Uzume, who trusted even less than he did, and the more time they spent together, the more they became friendly with each other. Before he knew it, after Minamo joined their group, Choua trusted Uzume. When he likes and trusts someone, he cares a lot about them, and notices when they are down or feeling lonely or depressed, and tries to cheer them up. But he also knows when they need to be left alone.

He's a bit of a worrywart, but he doesn't realize it himself. He says that he knows that his friends are strong, and can take care of themselves just fine. But then he says that they have to look for them, and in that way, he worries about them. For instance, he knows that while Uzume is extremely strong, he is also extremely stupid. He protects those that he cares completely about, even if he has to sacrifice his own life, and if someone hurts someone important to him, he will not forgive. He spoils Uzume terribly, even though he tells Utsuho not to spoil Pochi. And Chouza knows that he spoils Uzume, and even use “should I stop spoiling you, then?” as something of a threat at more playful times.

He has killed a lot of people, but from the start, he didn't do it just to kill, he did it to survive. As Yakuma notes, Chouza is not a cold-blooded killer who only kills for the sake of it. Sure, while he was with Kuroha's group, he killed without reason because Kuroha told him to and it was easy, because he hated people, but after he was locked up in the Castle of no Return with Yakuma, he started to think, and changed. He didn't want to kill for no reason anymore, and started wanting to protect. People, too. While he still doesn't like people, and have a hard time warming up or even trusting someone in the slightest, he's getting used to the thought of actually havign a family that doesn't want to hurt him.

Because of the tattoo that was placed on him when he was a child, Chouza was attacked to both mind and body by people who had been harmed by his father, or who knew who's child he was. Because of this trauma, he can't handle people seeing his tattoos. If his bangs are pulled from his face and his tattoos become visible to see, he freezes up and can't move, tenses and shivers. It's a fear hard to cure, and the only way for him not to react like that is to be really used to the people, to trust them completely and be used to that they look at his tattoos. This far, the only ones that he can stand looking at them are Uzume and Minamo, even if he is still very uncomfortable with it. He knos that it's a liability that he freezes up, but he does not want to have people look at the tattoos, and thus it's hard for him to get used to people looking. But if someone forcefully shows his tattoos, he gets extremely pissed off, and threatened to kill even Uzume if he dared to do that again. But Uzume is precious to him, and he can feel when something bad happens to him, as if he has a sixth sense for when Uzume is badly hurt.

He's not that easily frightened, and doesn't care much for ghost stories. He doesn’t' get scared by them, even if he can get unnerved, especially if his friends vanish out of his sight right after, for example, having heard a story about people vanishing. He does get scared when people suddenly appear, like Minamo did, appearing in the darkness with only her face visible in the torch light. But sometimes, people scare him. Kuroha, for example, is an incredibly scary woman, even if she wears a weird face when she throws knifes at him. Strong people, who he can feel are stronger than him just by looking, also make him uneasy, and he would rather not fight those people, even if he wouldn't hesitate to if he found his friends being hurt by them. It also scares him when people talk about their own brain melting – which Yakuma did – with a straight face and even a smile.

He doesn't really believe in good lies, which Utsuho uses, but if necessary, he will use lies to get out of trouble. It's not that he's a very skilled liar, like many of his friends, but because he has spent so much time around liars that he has been infected – not that he would ever admit that he has been infected, but he has been, none the less.

He is pretty easily embarrassed, and sometimes when he acts serious and is very cool, it is ruined by someone elses comments, and Chouza ends up being completely flustered. When he apologize for something, he does it a bit stubbornly and pouty, but that's because he is embarrassed.

Background: http://poisonedclaws.dreamwidth.org/305.html

Strengths/Weaknesses:
He also has easy to understand more stupid characters’ ways of thinking.
When his tattoos become visible for people to see, he freezes up and can’t move. This is a liability in fights, and while he knows that, he is also too traumatized to even want to practice getting used to people seeing them.

Abilities: He’s great at fighting and he uses a weapon called poisoned claws, which he handles flawlessly.

First Person:
[ He looks completely uninterested, as he turns on the screen. The interest in the thing has been pushed aside by another matter. ]

Anyone seen a scroll about the Kokonotsu? The old version of the tale. There're notes about everywhere on it, by different people. I could mention what's written by who, but that's annoying and you don’t know them anyway.

[ He waves a sleeve in a motion of a little confusion, and pats down his bangs when they gets ruffled. ]

Anyway. It vanished, and I don't know much of where to find lost things at this place yet. If anyone does know that'd be great but... yeah....yeah, that's ...it, I guess.

[ Awkward silence. Alright, so he doesn't know much about what he was supposed to say on this. Was that enough? ...Oh... Right.. There was that. ]

And if anyone runs into an idiot who mistakes words all the time called Uzume around, tell him that I'm gonna punch him once when I see him. Or Thread Eyes or Doctor---most of all Cat Eyes though.

[personal profile] poisonedclaws 2013-06-30 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Third Person:
He was dreaming, and it wasn't a happy dream.

The dream was pain and blood, it was fear and heartbreak, and it was words filled with hate. Pain from both people's lips that spilled insults and curses and death, and pain from fists and sticks and weapons raining down on his body. He heard his own pleas and screams, felt his throat go sore by it, felt tears spill down his face as they burned his face with marks that would last for eternity.

When he woke up, he felt his body shivering, tense with memories flooding his mind, seeing faces of people who only wished him pain, instead of the ceiling above him. A strangled sound escaped his throat, and he was unable to tell them to stop, don't, he had nothing to do with it.

When his mind returned to him, sharply telling him that it was something long passed, he noticed. Uzume's body-heat wasn't there... Nor the crushing familiarity of his bone-breaking hugs... What... ”Uzu...!?” Where was he? Where was the stupid idiot? And, when he turned to look to his other side, where was Minamo?

With a body that was still tense and filled with fear, confusion and the need for his friends, he sat up, looked around him and his mind screamed. No, where was anyone? None of the others were there, not Thread Eyes, not Doctor, not Cat Eyes, not Hime-san or Nee-san, nor either of the two tanuki. He was all alone, in a place that he didn't know, didn't recognize, and he didn't like it, he hated it, it reminded him far too much of the loneliness and pain back when he was a child, blamed for being part of something that his father had done all on his own. Things that he had nothing to do with, that he had been punished for.

He rubbed his sleeve over his face, wiped traces of tears, only barely there, and tried not to think about the tattoos that he hated so much. With his movement, something moved in his lap, rolled from his knee and over the floor. With eyes wild, he turned his gaze to it, and noticed what it was.

He must have fallen sleep while reading through the scroll, filled with the old tale of the Kokonotsu written down on it. Taking a deep, shaky breath in an attempt to calm down, he reached for the scroll. Yes, it was the tale of the Kokonotsu treasure. Filled with notes added by people from their group. There were scrawls that was unmistakably Thread Eyes', words written in a tidy hand, belonging to Doctor, Ne-chan's neat but elegant letters. And Uzume's almost illegible writing, corrected with Chouza's own writing. The scroll was even signed, close to Thread Eyes' writing, by Pochi's paw print.

Feeling the texture of the familiar item, feeling the faint scents of everyone mixed together sticking to the scroll, he noticed how his breathing calmed, his grip relaxing. His body was still shivering infrequently, but it wasn't a terrible force anymore, even if he felt as if he was about to double over from the thoughts running through his mind.

Unease and determination took over instead, and he clutched tighter to the scroll as he slowly climbed to his feet. First of all, he had to find the others.

[CANON] Sephiroth || Final Fantasy VII || reserve || 2 of ?

[personal profile] neverbeamemory 2013-06-30 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Although very intelligent, Sephiroth would probably be classed psychologically as borderline psychotic with a god complex but he would never allow anyone close enough to obtain such an insight. He is cold, ruthless, vengeful and fiercely confident of his own abilities and skills; nothing can stop him and this is encouraged by his solid belief that he has evolved to be a higher being. This belief is demonstrated throughout OGC & in following canon (AC/C, OTWTAS Novella's) but it is specifically referred to in Advent Children when Sephiroth refers to sailing the cosmos as Jenova did; Jenova being a celestial being which arrived to the Planet the same way. Though most of the time, he generally appears as calm, collected and in complete control of himself. He has a great deal of pride about himself and his achievements and is egotistical to the point of megalomania. That being said, Sephiroth would be the one who would listen to what everyone else had to say if it helped further his own ends, take it all in to form his own opinion; never to be shared with anyone else unless he was already in a superior position to them. Sephiroth is professional in execution of his goals and efficient with his skills to the point of arrogance, and egotistical enough to love a challenge in which to show off his talents. He is not one to lie or cheat like your typical villain but will more likely use the truth, or some interpretation thereof, to his own advantage; as displayed when Cloud finally reaches the Northern Crater in OGC and Sephiroth reveals the truth about Nibelheim and Cloud's fake memories - using the same a tool to break his enemy.

He is quick to anger and often most resolutions to situations are dealt with violently. He works better on his own at tasks than in groups; preferring to trust himself first and foremost. He craves control over everything, be it his own actions, destiny or even the actions of others should they be in any way affecting his future or goals. He must never be kept in the dark and utterly detests being spoken down to, or in any other way made to feel inferior and he would easily react violently to make his feelings known in this regard. Betrayal also is a deal-breaker for him, having been handed the short end of the stick for most of his history (even if he can't remember much of the specifics) even the slightest suspicion that anyone may be blackmailing, lying to or otherwise using him to further something he didn't sign up for is a sure way to make an enemy.

Beneath his solid, smooth facade there are a lot of never-before-explored, or mostly forgotten emotions that usually manifest in fits of rage when he is faced with a situation that he hasn't had to deal with on an emotional level before. Either that or he will just ignore the problem completely and shut it out of his mind, classing it as irrelevant. That being said, Sephiroth can be a strong, dependable ally to anyone he considers to be on his side, but be warned - any genuine emotion of his can be extreme and therefore beyond what is comfortable for most people to accept. For example, compassion may come across as obsessive or over-protective at best; this is a partly head-canon assumption based on his complete-supplementation of Jenova as 'Mother', and his then-obsession of her prior to his merging within the Lifestream, in the absence of a real Mother.

Sephiroth is the main antagonist throughout Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children/Complete though he was not always the villain. After being raised within ShinRa as part of the top-secret Jenova project he was the legendary hero of the Wutai war, the best General in SOLDIER; before the truth was discovered about his origins and he went 'insane'. It's complicated in that it could well have been the intention of the Jenova project (once taken over by Hojo i/o Gast) to have turned him into the villain that he became. Rather than his own conviction that he was fulfilling his own destiny by attempting the planetary take-over Jenova had failed to do whilst also taking revenge on those responsible for lying to him and/or stopping Jenova in the first place (aka the entire human race).

It all started with the events just prior to the 'Nibelheim Incident', in which Sephiroth started to look into ShinRa's G-Project following Genesis' defection. This was soon to be followed by Angeal's defection as well and as if it wasn't bad enough to have his best/only friends betray his entire life of being loyal to ShinRa, Sephiroth's world started to unravel around him as he dug deeper into research on the G-Project. He'd even hinted to Zack, that he might be leaving SOLDIER. All this tension came to a head at Nibelheim, where Sephiroth learned of the truth of his own origins and his sanity cracked - hence the Incident. After taking Jenova's power into himself within the Lifestream afterward, Sephiroth had no intention of stopping there. Enlightened with Jenova's power and the vast knowledge absorbed from the Lifestream directly, Sephiroth went about his Reunion and would use the Ultimate Destruction Magic: Meteor to propel him into that God-status with which he could complete his destiny/revenge. Only to be stopped by the same one who had sent him into the Lifestream the first time. His 'failed clone', his 'puppet' - Cloud. Revenge for all this betrayal, added to the revenge to-be-taken against those that have stopped him twice already (especially Cloud) forms a large part of Sephiroth's drive especially in post-OGC canon.

There is further canon back story available on wiki's/derived from FAQ's etc but it's not many of the the events pre-Nibelheim matter very much considering this canon pull-point.

(Refer to Memory weakness) A great bulk of Sephiroth's memories are shattered/missing, though through use of the remnants in Advent Children/Complete - picking up memories of himself from other still-living people within the canon whom the remnants came across, some of them are at least partly recovered. Details such as his appearance, skills and key aspects of his personality had to have been recovered in this way; though it's not ever stated in canon which memories Sephiroth did recover this way but it must have been sufficient for him, coupled with the vast amount of Lifestream he'd managed to gain influence over with Geostigma, to will himself back into being through Kadaj when reunited with the last remaining Jenova cells. This canon pull-point is just after he's been forced into retreating his will back into the Lifestream after being defeated by Cloud in the ensuing fight - though losing the battle might not mean he might lose the war. As long as Cloud continues to remember him, his presence will still be within the Lifestream.
