APPLICATIONS
✗ Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
✗ IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.
✗ If you are looking for an example of what an application should be like, please refer to the application here for an example of a canon character application, and here for an original character application.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.
In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.
{[CANON] HENRY MILLS || Once Upon A Time || Reserve || 2 of 2}
Henry is a brave and optimistic young boy. He grew up in a small town where just about everyone knew his name. But then his teacher gave him a book, and Henry's eyes were opened to a world beneath the world he knew. A world where people were trapped and unhappy and they didn't even know it. It's this book that defines the Henry we know. Not because he believes that the people within it are the people he knows and cares about, but because of what Henry chooses to do with this knowledge.
Henry believes he needs to fix things. Find a way to break the curse so the people of Storybrooke will remember their old lives and be happy again. He believes this so strongly that it becomes a responsibility as much as it is a hope. When he goes looking for Emma, it is not just to find the mother he has never known, but to find the Hero who will break the curse.
His faith in people is not blind. He has an innate sense for right and wrong, helped further by his suspicions of who certain people are in relation to the fairytales. And while he may not always get it right, he is clever enough, and intuitive enough, to know better than to trust the wrong person or do the wrong thing. It's both his fate and this innate inner sense that make him all the more determined to believe in Emma's ability to break the curse.
But faith alone is not enough, and that's okay. Because Henry is a brave boy who doesn't know when to give up. He's willing to go the distance to prove the curse is real and to save the people he cares about, in surprising ways from such a young boy. He even risks his own life biting into the poisoned turnover to prove to Emma that magic was real and make her finally believe. And that bravery doesn't end with the curse.
Blame it on genetics, but Henry is as stubborn as he is brave. When he believes in something or someone, it takes a lot to shift that view, and even when it happens it is very easy for Henry to begin to believe again. He is a hero, and in a way he was born to be one. Nearly unshakeable faith, willingness to sacrifice himself, and bravery to stand up for what he believes in, even when it means facing up to hard facts or adults he shouldn't be antagonizing. He's not afraid to speak his mind. If he believes someone is bad, or not doing the right thing, he will tell them so, and he will do it with all the self-righteousness of a boy who knows what he believes in and what he defines as right and wrong.
It may be that fantasy was an easier escape from reality, but nothing about breaking the curse on Storybrooke was easy, and figuring out his life after the curse was no simpler. Storybrooke was still in chaos, and so was Henry's life. But determined boy that he is, Henry holds fast to his beliefs and for the most part he never gives up, and never loses faith. He does long for his own adventure. He wants to be the Hero of his own story, but what little boy doesn't want to see himself be the hero?
Background:
Henry Mills at OUaT Wiki
Abilities:
Shy of being just an overall good kid and having a lot of faith in people (Especially Emma) Henry has no abilities
First Person:
Hello?
[Henry was certain he had heard the watch talking when he pressed one of the buttons along its sides. But he had been going through the buttons so quickly he had shut it off and now he wasn't sure how to make it come back. The last button he had pressed had activated audio so that was what he was broadcasting now. Though he was not aware of that yet. He held the watch up to his ear before looking down at it with a little frown]
Can you hear me? Don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you. You can talk again. Are you a magic watch? Is that it?
[He turned it around in his hands a few times, chin resting on his knees]
Come on, don't be shy. Say something else.
[This watch, for all he knew, might be the only living creature around.]
Third Person:
Henry has his arms wrapped around his knees on a bench in the train station, staring at the round little watch he had found in his pocket and smoothing his fingers over it. Everything had gone so strange and hectic. One minute he was with his friends and family and the next he was being dragged away, pulled into a portal to another place, another world. It would have been exciting if it had been other circumstances. If it had been Emma he was exploring other worlds with and not his kidnappers dragging him away from everything.
When he had woken on the train, alone, he had been scared. But Henry was a tough little kid. He had swallowed his fear and explored the train until it stopped at the station. If this was another world, then all he had to do was find a way to get home. He could do that. It'd be his very own adventure. Hadn't he wanted to be the Hero?
He flipped the pocketwatch open, curiosity, for the moment, a distraction from anything else. And one he needed right now. He had been severed from his family, from his home, and sent far away all alone. That was a lot for any eleven year old. But he was also the boy who believed. The one who knew the real story, or at least, parts of the real stories of the people of Storybrooke. That was enough to make him believe he could do this. He would find a way home. And Emma had to be looking for him. He knew she would be. So whatever happened, he would find his family again.
He just had to take that first step into his own story. And that first step began with the unusual watch in his hands. It was simple on the outside, a silver metal and not much to look at. But the screen inside wasn't like an ordinary watch, and Henry pressed at the buttons as he watched it. Maybe this was how he was supposed to get back home?

MOD NOTE: Please be aware that Sample "A" of your First Person Samples does not actually fit the requirements for "First Person" writing here at Ruby City, which should be present-tense, "Bracket spam"-style writing. We understand that everybody makes mistakes, however, and your "B" sample was sufficient for a First Person Sample by itself, so we have decided to let this slide-- But please do be careful in future postings!
