APPLICATIONS
✗ Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
✗ IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.
✗ If you are looking for an example of what an application should be like, please refer to the application here for an example of a canon character application, and here for an original character application.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.
In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

Death, as you can imagine, is a complicated and very unusual person to write for. He isn’t really a person, when you get down to it. He is more of the End. Not the end like the end of a piece of music, but the end of everything that is. It is his job and his one true specialty in life.
As he exists on the planet upon the back of four elephants upon the back of a turtle that is Discworld, Death is usually regarded with resentment at the worst of times, respect at the best, and generally gets treated as someone who is to be neither trifled with nor ignored. He makes his rounds usually by collecting and sending off the souls of people, but has been known to collect the souls of animals. And, as far as animals are concerned, he has a soft spot for kittens and his beloved steed, the pale horse Binky.
Those who find themselves able to speak to Death (as a client or otherwise) usually note that he has a peculiar way of using tenses and referring to things that have not strictly happened yet. It is partly to do with the fact that Death can see the past, present, and future all at once, and thus sometimes finds himself having a chuckle over the confusion in his conversational partners. Aside from that, he is probably one of the more amicable people to talk to in the entirety of Discworld. He harbors an intense compassion for humanity and considers it to be far more beautiful than anyone might think. He rarely ever loses his temper, but when he does…well, you best make your peace quickly. Death is nothing if not absolute, and when he is absolutely pissed off, something will very likely die to rectify that.
Another thing that sets Death apart from others who have used his name is that he has occasionally taken it upon himself to try and adopt a habit of humanity. Whether he does so for curiosities sake (such as with Isabelle or Mort) or for more personal reasons (like in Soul Music), the results are usually mixed and tend to leave his business in disarray. He always manages to come back to his job, of course, but the things he learns as part of his experiments with human ways have left their mark. Ysabel (pronounced like Isabelle) and Mort are perhaps his two greatest accomplishments in this regard.

Apart from these things, there is not much that truly needs being said about Death. He is a living skeleton in a black cloak, and carries a scythe that can cut through the very words in the air. His eyes glow blue with the color of infinity, and he is both the most terrifying and perhaps most loving person to ever walk the Disc. He shows mercy and compassion in leaps and bounds, but never strays from his Duty. As Death, he is to end all things in time, including the universe itself.
And as a final note: HE ALWAYS SPEAKS IN CAPITALS LIKE THIS. IT IS MEANT TO SHOW WHAT HIS VOICE SOUNDS LIKE, WHICH IS SAID TO BE LIKE THE LID OF A STONE COFFIN DROPPING INTO PLACE. Wizards, witches, and cats usually seem him clearly, although anyone could. There is usually a glamor effect in place to make him seem more like something the human mind can deal with, although he can just as easily appear as himself. And on a whole, most liken him to sounding like Christopher Lee.

CURIOUS.
[Death has found himself in a number of situations people would describe as odd or worrisome, but this is neither of those nor any word that a thesaurus would declare as being similar. It was certainly not the Disc, and that was all he really needed to know for the moment.]
VERY CURIOUS.
[He summons his scythe as he reads the various signs and postings along the train station. The food and blankets were useless to him, of course, but the sentiment told him good things about the people who lived in this…Ruby City.
And then there is the matter of the pocket watch. There are other worlds where such…technology, that was the word, is common place, but such worlds are not the one he has just been taken from. Very, very odd, as it were.]
VERY WELL. [And he flips the watch open and works it on with little trouble.] I DO NOT SUPPOSE IT WOULD BE AN EASY MANNER TO MAKE CONVERSATION WITH THE ONE WHO HAS BROUGHT ME HERE? THERE ARE APPOINTMENTS I MUST KEEP, AND I CANNOT KEEP THEM FROM WHEREVER HERE IS.
Third Person:
Death, as he sometimes did, did a little decorating. He was not perfect about it, and it certainly showed that he had little proper understanding about what it meant to actually put function into a place. At his office, everything only looked like it had a function.
NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS THING? The “thing” in question was a bit of potpourri sitting by the window, and he held it between two fingers as one might a diseased carcass. Dead flowers and other plant parts dried up so that they could make a home smell good. Oh, this was most certainly a dwelling better suited for humans. It would have to do.
Heaving a sigh as well as one could without lungs; Death did another turn around to get a view of the apartment. No doubt, he would find a bed with a proper mattress and some sheets to put upon it. Even Binky didn’t seem able to find him here. That distressed him more than anything. He would actually have to…walk to places. The passage of time would be more absolute than merely a flow that went in all directions.
Nodding, Death came to a simple conclusion. PERHAPS A DRINK…
