We don't precisely know just how Tieria became to be so cold and distant from others. We know that he was created by the supercomputer Veda and raised by the paramilitary organization Celestial Being to be the perfect Gundam Meister. We know that he isn't human, and that he knows he isn't human. And we know that he considers himself responsible for the safety and security of not just the entire crew of the Ptolemaios, but of Veda and everything to do with Celestial Being.

Veda is the sticking point, here. It's clearly shown that Tieria takes failure extremely poorly - whether his own or other people's - and the first time Tieria makes what he considers a critical error on a mission he's left sobbing brokenly in his Gundam. Things really start to go badly wrong for him when he starts to notice that there are parts of Veda that he is being denied access to - parts that he previously thought were open to him. What starts off as a sickly suspicion coiling in his gut rapidly becomes a full-blown crisis. Due to the mounting problems surrounding Veda, the bridge crew of the Ptolemaios create a back-up OS to replace it should anything go wrong. Mid-battle, something does go wrong - the connection to Veda is completely shut down, leaving the Gundams without power, controls, anything. Fortunately, the back-up OS works, but that's only for 3 of the Gundams. Tieria's connection to Veda (that he thought made him oh so special) hampers the reboot of his Gundam, leaving him dead in the water. His comrade, Lockon Stratos, is forced to make a self-sacrificing leap in front of him. Lockon's machine is heavily damaged while trying to defend Tieria, resulting in Lockon being blinded in one eye.

The loss of Veda is not the only thing that's had a dramatic effect on Tieria's personality, however. Being exposed to "normal" life amongst the crew and his fellow Meisters has meant that slowly but surely, Tieria has come to certain realisations about humanity and about himself. He learns that it's okay to make mistakes, and to have more faith in other people. He even learns that he can come to his own conclusions and that he doesn't have to wait for Veda to tell him everything - this is clear in the way he follows Setsuna into battle against the Trinity siblings. It was not a mission or something specifically required of him, and yet because he felt that their actions were "wrong" of his own accord, he could fight them. He demands to be reprimanded for his disobedience after the fact, of course, and is mystified by the way Sumeragi (their tactical forecaster) shrugs it off. Tieria is present when Lockon finds out that Setsuna is indirectly responsible for the death of Lockon's parents, and sees the way that Lockon chooses not to hold Setsuna accountable for the sake of forgiveness, the success of the mission and humanity. Humans frequently confuse him - initially causing him irritation and aggravation at how unpredictable they can be - but eventually he becomes charmed by their ways, and strives to be more like them.

Where these two issues overlap, however, sits Lockon Stratos. It would be incorrect to say that he's the only person that's had a direct effect on Tieria's personality - after all, he grows much closer to Setsuna, Allelujah and all of the Ptolemaios crew throughout the course of the series. However, Tieria himself starts to center his opinion of the world around Lockon. It's Lockon that guesses that Tieria isn't human, it's Lockon that throws himself into harm's way to save Tieria when Veda abandons them, and it's Lockon that Tieria feels a crushing guilt over when he finds out that Lockon was hurt for his sake.

When Lockon then dies only days later, it's too much for Tieria to take. Even if he hadn't realised it himself, this was the man that Tieria has placed his faith in after Veda was lost to him. He lashes out at those around him before eventually deciding the fault is his own, and fights recklessly to avenge Lockon. His once uptight, entirely logical personality has been broken and reforged into something that's, yes, softer, but also wilder and more unpredictable as he struggles to come to terms with his emotions.

CHARACTER
Name: Yoko Littner
Canon: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Age: 18
Timeline: After the defeat of Guame by Simon and Nia
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a

Personality:
Despite being very young, Yoko is seen as being very mature and rather educated for some one living underground. Instead of being impulsive and brash like her gang leader, Kamina, Yoko prefers to take things slow and think them through before she goes charging head-first into a battle. In the case of Ritona Village being under Beastman attack, she is pivital in planning out a defensive strategy that allows the village not only its saftey, but puts a Gunmen in the hands of Kamina. She is also shown to be a very protective person, especially towards her companion Simon. Not only is she a support on the field with her skillfull talent at sharpshooting, she has offered Simon and Kamina many times an insightful conversation or support when the young pilot and their leader find themselves in doubt.

Yoko is not only a rock to those she is friends with, but also a Mother figure that they look up to and rely on. In the many times that Simon often questions himself, Yoko has a knack for appearing before him and lending an ear. Before their conflict in which the life of Kamina is lost, Yoko eases Simon down from his worry by reminding him that Kamina believes in him and his ability to fight. It is almost as if she knows just what to say and when to say it.

She's very dependable, in the often times where her friend Leerom advice and help when tinkering around with machines or weaponry. It makes her a very valuable asset to those with limited knowledge of the surface, having spent a good deal of time fending off Beastmen but also exploring the different technology forgotten to those below ground. She's always eager to try and improve the situation of those she cares for, selflessly putting herself in danger if it means protecting lives. In the case of her first appearance in the series, she follows the Gunmen which lands in Jiha Village even though she is one person with a gun facing an opponent in a giant mechanized robot.

For a woman who has seen death and hardship many times over, she is also very internally strong. Even when left in tears at the wake of Kamina's death, she stubbornly tells her friend Dyakka that "I'm fine". She isn't one to let her weaknesses show, putting on a tough front when the chips are down. Though she chooses to fight, Yoko dislikes violence and makes it very vocal that she does not agree with it. Even though the canon point she is being plucked from doesn't show it as strongly, she later in the series becomes an advocate for peace, becoming a school teacher rather than a gun-slinger. She firmly believes that children shouldn't have to face violence and death, much like her friend Simon has had to do countless times.

She is easily flustered by those around her, not taking lightly to being teased or gawked at. Though she chooses to dress with limited clothing (believing that more clothing restricts her movements), she has often had her heel or fist find many the face of a man who remarks about her choice of combat wear. Though she is confident in herself, she still exhibits a bit of shame and bashfulness when Kamina points out her qualities and endowments.

[CANON] Yoko Littner - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - RESERVE: 2 of 2

[personal profile] thegurlnextdoor 2013-08-29 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Background:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gurren_Lagann_characters#Yoko_Littner

Abilities:
Copied from the Gurren Lagann Wiki-

Skilled Marksmen: Yoko is a skilled shot with her rifle and has shown to be able to take out two Gunmen alone, without suffering any injuries. She is also shown to be able to hit weak spots on Gunmen even in the middle of a fight. One of the best examples of her marksmanship is during her battle with Viral when she piloted the Gurren Lagann with Simon. She was able to nearly hit Viral, despite being in the air and moving around, and only missing him by a hair's width.

Skilled Gunmen Pilot: Like most members of Team Dai-Gurren, Yoko is skilled in Piloting a Gunmen. She piloted Gurren-Lagann with Simon once and piloted the Dayakkaiser in the second half and she, along with Kittan, Gimmy and Darry, took out many Anti-Spiral ships on their own.

World Knowledge: Having survived on the harsh and dangerous surface, Yoko has a plethora of knowledge on the land, the air, and everything around her. This makes her a perfect teacher, as she later becomes, being able to pass her knowledge of the world onto those younger than her. She knows a great deal of history, mechanics, weaponry, and even history.

First Person:
[Yoko is used to these sorts of contraptions, handling the watch with care as she inspects the device twice before attempting to use it. Marveled by the design, she pops the lid of the communicator open, unsurprised by the feed as it turns on. She deducts right away that it's purpose isn't only to keep time.]

This is Yoko Littner, over. If anyone can hear me, please respond, over! My name again is Yoko.. Littner.. Over. Please respond if you can hear me!

[She remains in front of the feed, watching for any sign of intelligent life on the other side. Though, while the worry of a response is on her mind, she couldn't help but also hope her communication ettiquette was correct.]

Third Person:
Like an old friend resting upon another's shoulder, Yoko rested the barrel of her long-range rifle as the cold steel nuzzled against her neck. As the sun set in the distance, thoughts collected as her mind looked back at the past few months here in the city, whilst her eyes took in the shades of orange and yellow setting behind the patches of clouds over head.

Her arrival here was smooth, yet the passing weeks had been a ride unlike any she had experienced before. Life atop the surface was a fight for survival, living and sleeping under and on top of rocks. Though times here had their rough patches, she couldn't help but think that she had been blessed with having a somewhat more comfortable situation.

But then again.. She couldn't help but curse herself at the thought. Life had been hard back home, but she wouldn't trade in her time there for the world, let alone a bed here. She had survived against the Beastmen, and she had survived against the strange events here in Ruby City. But all the while, she found herself wishing for the cold and shiver-filled nights under the blue moon, waking up in the dirt and running frantically from becoming a meal.

CHARACTER
Name: Aiden
Canon: Teen Wolf
Age: Unknown, probably late teens early twenties.
Timeline: Taken from the end of Season 3, episode Lunar Eclipse.

Personality: Aiden is a killer. No softening it, no lying. He will easily (and gleefully) kill whenever something or somebody is in his way. And not only that, but he'll threaten people close to his brother with death if he's really pissed off.

To get to why he's like this, we have to go back a little bit. Ethan and Aiden are twin Alpha werewolves. It has been stated that they were abused by their pack, and were Omegas, the lowest of the low in terms of the werewolf totem pole. The extent of this abuse has not been fully fleshed out yet, but Ethan referred to them as the pack's "Bitches" so it couldn't have been fun.

Deucalion, the leader of a pack of Alphas, approached Ethan and Aiden, to teach them how to control their powers, and how to steal the power of the Alpha for themselves. They murdered their entire pack, including the human/druid emissary, and went on their merry way. This instilled in Aiden a very twisted and deep sort of loyalty to Duecalion, and the Alpha pack. He admired Kali, and Ennis, and did everything he could to bring their pack power.

Then, Beacon Hills happened. He was assigned to check out one Lydia Martin, believing she was the key to getting at Scott McCall, who had the potential to be the True Alpha. (Basically Werewolf Jesus.) And then there was the small matter of an evil druid bent on killing all werewolves ever. So Aiden set about seducing Lydia, while his brother Ethan seduced one Danny Mahealani.

The only problem was, the twins both fell in love with the people they were supposed to be spying on.

Aiden, gruff and not very talkative, found himself really looking forward to his time spent with the fiery redhead. She became as important to him as his pack. It went from something purely physical to something much more complicated and deeper. This was incredibly frustrating for Aiden, who found himself torn between loyalties now. It wasn't until the very end, when the evil druid was destroyed, that Aiden allowed himself to finally confess all his feelings. Where he's going to go now, whether or not he'll be aiming for redemption, that remains to be seen.

He's very hot-headed, easy to trigger into a temper fit, and has a tendency to act first and think later. He's also incredibly loyal, and fiercely protective of people he considers important. He's willing to kill perhaps a bit too easily, but he'll have full justifications in his head for it the entire time. Preferring to let actions speak louder than words, he'll let a smirk tell an entire story with people he barely knows.

But when he's with his brother, he's a very different boy. He'll be playful, he'll banter, he'll even joke around. The only time he won't is if Ethan does something to piss him off. But even then, he might bluster and threaten but he won't follow through. And when he's with Lydia, he'll actually be tender, and follow her instructions. He has a strange sort of respect for her, and won't push her too far, or disobey her. (Frankly? He's totally pussywhipped for her, negl.)

[Canon] Aiden || Teen Wolf || Reserved || 2 of 3

[personal profile] actuator 2013-08-31 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Background: Wiki.

Abilities: Aiden is an Alpha wolf. In TW canon, this means he has the ability to control Betas and Omegas by sheer force of will. He's also stronger and faster than the average werewolf, and is implied to be in greater control of his transformations. The full moon affects him, but doesn't turn him into a mindless monster.

Since Aiden is also an Alpha Twin, he and his brother Ethan are capable of merging into one, giant, Hulk-like alpha wolf with exponentially greater strength. (Fandom is still on the fence about what happens to their genitalia.) This merging can happen any place, any time, but it's easier when the moon is full. He can also feel when his brother is in pain or been injured, and vice versa.

First Person:

[Aiden appears on his watch...device. Thing. Why the hell was it a pocket watch and not a cell phone? That would have made at least a little bit of sense. Grr. He feels really stupid talking into a pocket watch, and when Aiden feels stupid, bad things happen to innocent people.]

...I'm not a big talker. So I'll make this short, simple, and to the point. I'm looking for either Ethan or Deucalion. Ethan's pretty simple, he looks like me. Deucalion is a...guy, older, blond hair, has a thing for sunglasses? British accent.

If anybody sees either of them, or...Deucalion, Ethan, if you're listening. Call me. I just got here and I really don't get this place.

Third Person:

Aiden had never been on a train in his life. He'd never held a pocket watch. So when he found himself doing both, part of him wondered if this was some really specific and realistic wolfsbane hallucination. The subtle knocking rhythm of the train along the track was lulling him into a false sense of peace and security. And that was not. Good.

Clenching his jaw, he forced a little of the wolf into his eyes, making them turn bright red. And he could feel his fangs elongating in his mouth, ready to bite, to tear. If there had been another on the train with him, he very well might have taken them out, just because he could. He did not like being separated from his pack, and he especially did not like being separated from his twin, his other self.

In a cloud of smoke and steam, the train finally began to slow, and finally stop. His glaring out the window had answered nothing; just miles of anonymous, old-growth woods. And then...a city. An old-fashioned city, mostly crumbling, but with bright spots of activity. The sort of place a werewolf could curl up and lick his wounds, try to figure out what to do next.

But then...a miracle? Or a disaster. He could sense his brother somewhere nearby. What the actual fuck was going on?! The compulsion to seek his brother out, to get the hell off this train, was suddenly overwhelming. Fangs retracted, red leeched out of his eyes, and he was a normal-looking young man again, out to stalk this bizarre city. And if anybody had done anything to hurt his brother, he would personally remove the spines, by hand, of the ones who did it.

CHARACTER
Name: Chika Funami
Canon: Hana to Hoshi
Age: 17-18 (never specified, but she's a senior in high school)
Timeline: Series end
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?:
n/a

Personality: The face Chika Funami presents to the world at large tends to have a smile on it. She's an outgoing, playful girl, best known around her school for running a table tennis club so laid-back and unorganized that it doesn't actually qualify for official club status and is instead listed as an "association." But that's just fine in Chika's books; as she puts it, her association is meant to be a place where people can just play around without having to worry about winning or losing.

It's not all pure-hearted egalitarian cheer with Chika, though; her sense of fun comes with a mischievous streak a mile wide. She's a girl who enjoys teasing and pushing boundaries. For example, she uses her nearsightedness as an excuse to invade the personal space of the series' protagonist, Sawako, clearly getting a laugh out of her reaction. At another point, when Sawako asks help her understand what it feels like to be in love, Chika drags her on a fake date, during which she tells Sawako they're going to a hotel--again, just to freak the poor girl out.

She's just as forward with Shiori, the girl she actually loves, though when it comes to Shiori she's more serious about it. She very casually kisses Shiori on the cheek in public, sits in her lap without any hesitation, and makes several unsuccessful attempts to get Shiori to return her affections.

Chika isn't all smiles and sunshine, though; she can be extremely possessive, and she has a scary temper. Back when she and Shiori were kids, Chika would terrorize anyone who gave the then-timid Shiori a hard time. Nowadays, it's Sawako who catches the brunt of her anger. As Chika sees it, Sawako is an interloper, getting between her and her love for her childhood friend. And as Sawako quickly finds out, Chika's mood can change with dizzying speed: she'll seem as cheerful as can be one moment, only to be glaring daggers the next, only to go back to smiling a second later! She makes something of a habit out of hiding her darker feelings behind her upbeat disposition.

Chika also doesn't take rejection especially well; when Shiori tells her that she's going to confess to Sawako, Chika's immediate reaction is that Shiori must hate her and want her out of her life. When Shiori says that that's not it, Chika then demands that Shiori go out with her. It's hard, at times, for her to find emotional middle ground--she can be an all-or-nothing sort of person.

But, for all of that, Chika is a resilient, caring girl--a big sisterly type. Underneath the teasing, underneath the temper, Chika harbors a deep, protective love for Shiori . . . and maybe kinda sorta cares about Sawako too, geez. She does actually make an attempt (a grudging, angry attempt, but still) to give Sawako genuine advice on how to deal with the confusing romantic situation she's found herself in, and in spite of the breakdown she has when Shiori makes her intentions clear, the two remain friends. (Actually, Chika doesn't entirely give up on pursuing Shiori, even though Sawako and Shiori are dating by the end of the series. She has maybe a liiiiiittle trouble letting go.)

CHARACTER
Name: James Potter
Canon: Harry Potter
Age: 17
Timeline: During the Marauder era. During James's Seventh year at Hogwarts.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:

Lily: "You think you're funny, but you're just an arrogant, bullying toerag, Potter. Leave him alone."

James: "I will if you go out with me, Evans. Go on, go out with me and I will never lay a wand on old Snivelly again."

Lily: "I wouldn't go out with you if it were a choice between you and the giant squid!"
— James and Lily in their fifth year.

James can come across as a rather arrogant and self-centred boy, as most will come to find out. He is a pure-blooded wizard, born to rich parents, so his arrogance may be born from that. He often picks on other students for a laugh, especially Severus Snape, James's arch rival. He can bit a bit of a bully and use his popularity against others. He usually hangs around his best friend, Sirius Black and his other two friends, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. Having the gang of "Marauders" makes James think he has an heir of authority over others. Having his friends around him makes him feel slightly invincible and over-inflates his ego some. That is one thing James Potter is know for. His ego.

His ego aside, James values loyalty and friendship above everything else. He is hardly ever seen alone, as he favours to stick by Sirius, his best friend. Him and Sirius are the main trouble-makers, as Remus and Peter steer clear mostly. Sirius was disowned from his family when he was sixteen, as he didn't agree with their "pure-blood mania." They wanted to fashion Sirius into the perfect model of a son, like his brother, Regulus. Sirius had none of it and James allowed Sirius to stay with him permanently, like a member of the Potter family. James accepted Sirius into his family like a brother and brought their bond even closer together.

If anything happened to any of his friends, he would stick by and defend them. He has a deep crush on fellow Gryffindor student, Lily Evans. Severus Snape, his arch rival, once insulted Lily deeply, by calling her a "Mud-blood." It means "dirty blood." Someone who was born to Muggle parents and not magical ones. James immediately jumped to her rescue and hexed Severus. One of the main reasons he jumped to her aid as he did, was because of his love for her. Throughout most of his school years, Lily Evans caused a deep infatuation in James Potter. He would stalk the corridors and Quidditch pitch, trying to ask her out on a date. Usually, he ended up with her shoving him off or just scowling at him. One thing James Potter is good with is perseverance. He isn't one to give up that easily, when his heart and soul goes into it.

One incident caused controversy around Hogwarts, was when a stunt performed by Sirius Black, nearly cost Severus Snape his life. James showed an act of heroism by rescuing his arch rival from the Whomping Willow. Remus Lupin was a werewolf in secret and for many months had to have his medicine delivered to him by the school's nurse. The place where the medicine was delivered was inside the Whomping Willow. Snape decided to follow, but was nearly crushed to death, as he touched the knot on the tree. Sirius had told Snape to touch the knot to get in, but the knot activated the tree to come alive. James saw the encounter and quickly came to his aide, rescuing him from the Willow's branches. This was one of James's most famous acts of bravery.

James is a good duellist and when he is not mucking around with his friends, he is a hard-working individual. He sometimes lets his pranks and bad behaviour mask his true self. He is actually a very intelligent boy, who actually becomes Head Boy in his seventh and final year at Hogwarts. Before being Head Boy, he became a Prefect. This shows that James does actually have an honest and hard-working head on him. James studied to become an Animagus, whilst at Hogwarts. A wizard who can turn into an animal at will. It was very advanced magic and he mainly did this, along with Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black, so he could accompany Remus Lupin, when he transformed into a werewolf. He spent many years trying to perfect his Animagus form, which was in the form of a stag. He gained the nick-name "Prongs." Both his Animagus and Patronus were a stag.

James may come across as rather geeky, since he is tall and wears round glasses. He likes ruffle his un-tidy hair where possible, as he wants Lily Evans to look at him. He has a self-conscience about how he looks and how others perceive him. The ruffling of the hair is to make it look like he's just gotten off his broom from Quidditch. He is a skilled Chaser on the pitch, so likes to think others around the school admire him for his skill. Again, this is his ego coming into play here. What would scare James the most is if one of his friends were killed or died. Remus Lupin, being a werewolf, cannot control himself once he's transformed. At the back of his mind is always the thought of "what if" Remus attacks any of them. Becoming an Animagus helped solved the problem, as Remus won't attack another animal, only a human. This was partly why Sirius, James and Peter all became Animagi, to be with their friend during transformations.

James is a pure-blooded wizard but he doesn't not believe it makes him any higher than anyone else. Some wizards believe that having pure-blood makes them elitist in a way. Most of these are Slytherin students. James doesn't agree with the way Muggle-borns and half-bloods are treated by some pure-blood wizards. Sirius is a pure-blood like James and doesn't agree with the supremacy either. This is partly why both James and Sirius are friends, as they think along the same lines regarding blood prejudices. Remus Lupin is a half-blood and werewolf, so has a lot of prejudice on him. James has a stout heart and will defend his friends against anything that comes their way.

Background: Here: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/James_Potter_I and Here: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Potter_family

Abilities:

James has an extraordinary ability for landing himself in trouble. Along with his best friend, Sirius Black, he is never very far from earning himself detention. He likes to think his witty charm can get him out of everything, but that is not so. This may not be one of James's positive abilities, but it is certainly one to be mentioned.

Negative abilities aside, James is a very good duellist and apt at Transfiguration. He is very clever, even though he does not seem show it much. He is a skilled Quidditch player, earning the position of Chaser for the Gryffindor team. He has fast reflexes, which may aid him in his spell casting.

More on James's abilities:

Animagus: James was able to become an Animagus at the age of fifteen. He had incredible skill in using this ability and could turn into the form of a stag. He often used this ability to visit his friend, Remus Lupin, during the time of his transformation into a werewolf.

Duelling: James is a skilled duellest alongside his best friend, Sirius Black. He taught himself most spells involving defence and offence. He often learnt spells to taunt others within the school, especially his rival, Severus Snape. Even though James can come across as a trouble maker, he is skilled with the wand at the best of times.

Quidditch: James is a skilled Chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. He has excellent reflexes, which gives him the advantage over others, which don't have them same. He can pass and catch the Quaffle during the fastest of Quidditch matches. He even demonstrated in catching a Snitch, when he was playing with the Quidditch supplies one day.

Patronus charm: James taught himself how to cast a Patronus charm, which is useful against Dementors. His form is a stag, which is the male form of the deer. Lily Evans, his love interest, has a doe, the female form. He can conjure up enough happy thought to dispel most Dementors that appear close by.

Charms: James is good at charms, as he and his friends, Sirius, Remus and Peter, crafted the Marauder's Map. They did this as teenagers and therefore, James's charms skill came into it's own. Not many teenagers at Hogwarts could perform such a feat.

Transfiguration: James's wand was good for Transfiguration, as it was crafted from mahogany and is very pliable. An excellent wand for Transfiguration. His wand helped with him in the transformation into his Animagus form. Even his friend, Remus Lupin, said that becoming an Animagus was tricky, as lots can go wrong.

Third Person:

James heard the referee's whistle blow with a shrill scream through the air, as the Quaffle was released. This always made him feel on top of the world, high atop the ground on his broomstick. He pushed his broom forwards with nimble accuracy and speed, as he saw a Slytherin Chaser diving forward to catch it. He was faster and managed to snatch the red ball in his right arm and tuck it close to his chest. The Slytherin Beaters were doing their best to whack the Bludgers straight at James, as he was in possession of the Quaffle. He gave a nod to the other Gryffindor Chaser, as he passed the Quaffle quickly. He caught the red ball with accuracy and zoomed on forwards. James felt something close by his head, as he narrowly avoiding another Bludger. Bloody Slytherins. They were determined to knock his head off with the Bludgers. James dived with his broom, as the other Chaser threw him the Quaffle back. A Slytherin Chaser smacked into James, just as he caught the Quaffle. He narrowed his eyes at the big brute of a boy, before placing his whole body against his broom. He launched himself forwards, throwing the Quaffle straight past the Keeper and through the ring.

"Take that, you slimy gits." James whispered to the Slytherin team. There was a roar of applause from the crowd when James scored. He hoped that Lily Evans was there within the Gryffindor stands, cheering him on. He didn't have time to think, as the Slytherin team were soon in possession of the Quaffle. James turned his broom around and went to intercept the Slytherin Chaser in possession. He felt nimble within the air, like a bird almost. He was skilled at what he did best and nothing could beat the feel of the air whipping through his hair, or the euphoria of scoring a goal.

He caught up with the Slytherin holding the Quaffle and aimed to smash into his side. The Slytherin boy shot an evil glance at James, whilst zooming forwards on his broom. James had a decent racing broom, as his family wasn't short of a few Galleons. He urged his broom onwards towards his goal and managed to bash sideways into the Slytherin Chaser. The impact knocked him to the left, as his grip loosened on the Quaffle. James quickly dived under the Slytherin and grabbed the Quaffle, which was falling to the floor. He snatched it with a fast reflex action and tucked it under his right arm. Zooming forwards, he kicked his broom to encourage more speed and threw with all his might at the goal post. The Slytherin Keeper dived to the left to catch it, but James had thrown it to the right. The Keeper missed and the Quaffle went in with a satisfying "ding." More applause from the red and gold stands. He smirked and gave the Slytherin Keeper a wink, before turning around and flying towards the centre of the stadium.

He looked upwards to see the Gryffindor Beaters giving a nod to James, before pelting a Bludger towards the Slytherin Beaters. Still no sign of the Snitch. Gryffindor were twenty points to nil and so far. It was going well. James felt a blast of air pass him, as he looked to see who flew past him in a green blur. It was the Slytherin Seeker, Regulus Black. Sirius Black's brother. Sirius, who was James's best friend at school, didn't get on at all with his brother. Sirius was disowned from the family at sixteen, so it was understandable that there wasn't much brotherly love. Regulus gave James a long, hard stare, before flying high up to try and spot the Snitch.

James was back in action once more, as the other Gryffindor Chaser was in possession of the Quaffle. He passed the ball quickly to James, who snatched it in mid-air. He felt someone smash into his left shoulder. A Slytherin Chaser had smashed into him from the side. The other Slytherin Chaser was on his other side. Right. James snarled, as pain well up in his shoulder. They were trying to block him in! He was still in possession, so pushed his broom for an extra burst of speed. The Slytherin Chaser to his left elbowed him in the face, which caused James to drop the Quaffle. He placed a hand over his injured eye and cursed loudly. Now, Slytherin took advantage of their dirty tactics and slammed home a goal of their own, straight past the Gryffindor Keeper. James swore loudly and hit his broomstick. Surely, the referee would have seen that?! But she did nothing and signalled the game to carry on.

The match carried on without any other incidents, as Slytherin finally caught up with Gryffindor's score. Fifty to Gryffindor and Fifty to Slytherin. James preyed that the Snitch would appear soon, so that the Gryffindor Seeker could catch it. "Come on. Where are you?" He ducked, as another Bludger was sent his way by the Slytherin Beaters. There. He saw the Snitch flash passed his eyes, as then a blur of red whip past him. He smirked to himself, as his team had seen it first. Regulus, the Slytherin Seeker, was still watching the skies, before noticing the flash of red and a well-trained Seeker bearing down on the Snitch. Regulus zoomed past James and went to smash into the right side of the Gryffindor Seeker. It was neck on neck to make it to the little, zooming ball. James knew that if his team caught the Snitch, the game would be over. Gryffindor would win Two hundred points to Fifty, as the Snitch was worth One hundred and Fifty points. He grabbed the Quaffle from the other Chaser and tried not to focus on the Seekers too much. He was still a Chaser at the end of the day and needed to perform to score more points. Just in case neither side caught the Snitch. James hurled the Quaffle back to the other Chaser, right over the Slytherin Chaser's head. A neat shot. Then, it was all over. The whistle sounded, as the Snitch had been caught.

A tremendous cheer erupted from the Gryffindor stand. They had won. The Gryffindor Seeker was muddied from falling off his broom, but had the Snitch safety within his palm. The Slytherin team swore to one another, as they lowered to the ground in defeat. Regulus's face was dark with anger and disappointment. James punched the air and did a loop-de-loop, hoping to impress Evans, if she was watching. He felt a tingling feeling inside his stomach at the victory. This was what it was all about. Another good match over all.

CHARACTER
Name: Soga no Tojiko
Canon: Touhou Project.
Age: Dead, but estimated somewhere around 1400 years old.
Timeline: Post Hopeless Masquerade
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Tojiko is a Bourei, or resentful spirit. To that effect, she's a pretty irritable sort of person, easy to infuriate. However, despite the fact that her capacity for utilizing powerful lightning indicates a very high level of vengefulness, Tojiko has actually largely let go of the grudge she's held for humans. Still, she doesn't go out of her way to make friends. In all honesty, the only human or human-like people she gets along with are Toyosatomimi no Miko, the would be great leader she threw her hat behind, and Mononobe no Futo, her rival/friend. That isn't to say she couldn't warm up to others given the opportunity, but that would, well, require getting past the obstacle of her short temper.

Tojiko does not tolerate idiots. If she had any Buddhist patience when she was alive, that has pretty much evaporated in her current state as a manifestation of pure resent. Most of the time this aspect of her personality presents itself as a snappish, sardonic attitude, but pester her enough and she'll quickly become quite angry. You'll know it's probably a good idea to leave well enough alone when you start seeing little sparks off the metal in the area.

Her Symposium of Post-Mysticism entry denotes her as ill-bred. Despite being a member of one of the two major warring clans, Tojiko's language and demeanor is coarse and blunt. She's actually a tidy and organized person otherwise, but by the standards of her era she's quite rude. She also has a slightly old-fashioned way of talking, though, so it comes off a little strange.

However, she's also described as tender-hearted. Sure enough, underneath that rough, short-tempered exterior is someone who possesses more empathy that expected of someone with her personality. She detests seeing the undeserving suffer, and may even feel for an enemy who is otherwise showing genuine distress. This aspect of her personality is one of the biggest carry-overs from her time alive, and while it was suppressed for the longest time in the headiest days of her grudge, it has slowly worked its way back in.

A couple of final quirks: Tojiko generally doesn't view youkai in quite the same negative light as Miko, and certainly nowhere near the negative light Futo does. Living for hundreds of years as a ghost tends to defang notions that youkai are evil or impure. She again doesn't go out of her way to be friendly, but she can't really be bothered about them otherwise. She also, owing to the various little hints she's gotten of the outside world due to the occasional trespasser to the mausoleum and overhead airplane during her ghost years, developed something of a fascination with modern technology, and wants to learn as much about it as she can. Mind, having been locked in a mausoleum for hundreds of years, her concept of "modern technology" covers a shockingly wide time period.

Background: In life, Tojiko was a member of the Soga family who, along with Prince Shoutoku (known in reality as the woman named Toyosatomimi no Miko) clashed with the Mononobe clan in a religious war between Buddhism (Soga) and Shintoism (Mononobe). The war, however, was a front; in reality, she, Miko, and Mononobe no Futo were followers of Taoism, and desired to pacify the nation under Buddhism to reduce the general populace's political power. This would pave the way for Miko and her consorts' rule when they would eventually revive as shikaisen -- hermits who had surpassed mortality utilizing Taoist techniques. The three of them chose the vessals they would preserve their spirits in; however, Mononobe swapped the jar Tojiko chose with an unfired one shortly before she underwent the shikaisen process, possibly as one final act of revenge for her role on the opposite side of the religious war. The jar decayed, leaving Tojiko without a vessal. However, since her association with Mononobe defied Buddhism, she was also cast off the cycle of reincarnation, thus leaving her a ghost. Oddly enough, once the initial outrage settled down, she actually found she preferred being a ghost to being a physical being, which is perhaps the reason why she doesn't hate Mononobe for what she did.

Since the jar decayed so quickly, it is fairly safe to assume that Tojiko was aware of her surroundings for a much, much longer time than either Futo or Miko. Since the mausoleum they were interred in were sealed by Buddhists, and since Buddhism's power did not in fact wane as had been predicted, Tojiko effectively remained sealed but aware in the mausoleum for centuries, as opposed to the other two, who remained dormant until the time of their resurrection. This gave her time for two things: one, it allowed the resentment she harbored towards the people who put her in that position and towards humanity to dampen down. Two, it provided opportunity to develop a permanent resentment and hatred for the religion she once followed, Buddhism. After all, it was the Buddhists' fault the three were in this situation, and her own worship hadn't provided a suitable backup when she had died for real.

She maintained the mausoleum while she waited for the day the other two could finally revive. The opportunity finally came centuries later, but not because Buddhism had died out; rather, it was because Prince Shoutoku herself faded into legend, and subsequently the mausoleum itself faded into the land of belief, Gensokyo. Furthermore, Byakuren Myouren, in an attempt to watch over the seal by placing her temple on the mausoleum, actually ended up breaking the seal herself, allowing Miko and Futo to revive, and causing an incident in which spirits that represented the manifestation of human desires flooded to the Mausoleum to greet Miko. Post-incident resolution (i.e. Reimu Hakurei kicked their butts), the three relocated to a dojo so that they would not live under a temple occupied by youkai.

(It's worth noting that despite her canon point being post Hopeless Masquerade, Tojiko herself had little involvement with those events, but she would certainly have heard of them from Miko and Futo both.)

Abilities: Tojiko is a ghost, which means both the capacity for flight and the ability to go non-corporeal at will. (The former isn't as unusual as you'd think considering she's from Gensokyo.) Like most Gensokyo residents, she fights primarily using danmaku, which is basically a massively scattershot projectile style. In particular, she utilizes the spellcard system, which basically covers all of the fighting without any of the lethality. This isn't to say she couldn't be lethal if she wanted to be, but generally speaking she keeps the kid gloves. Finally, as a bourei, she can generate powerful lightning, something which can cause interesting issues if she's really pissed off.

(As a tradeoff for being, well, dead, Tojiko CAN be dispersed, which would functionally work like death, so she's not absolutely immortal.)

First Person: [VIDEO]
All right, could somebody please explain something to me? Watches like these are supposed to be time telling devices, yes? Like... like... I don't know how it works, I just know you tell time with it. So why can I use it as some sort of communication device? How come I can see and hear everybody through it? And don't give me some crap about it being "magic." I'm ancient. I'm not DUMB. It's some sort of technology you humans have been coming up with over the years, I know. Have watches, ah, changed that much?

Third Person:
She floated closer to the large tower in the town, peering at the large circle with the numbers on it. She'd seen some of these in smaller forms, mostly by people who'd attempted to loot the mausoleum, or people who'd stumbled upon it by accident years later. This was the first time she'd seen one quite so LARGE, however. Did people really need a big thing like this if they had a bunch of smaller ones?

She shifted into the building, taking into account the gears and machinery working. She had to admit, the technology that humanity had developed in the 1400 years since she'd attempted -- and failed, thank you very much Mononobe -- to become a shikaisen was truly amazing. Even if she'd only gotten her information in bits and pieces, she'd developed part of her appreciation for being a ghost simply in being alert to see these changes. That they'd figure out how to make a device that functioned like this... humanity truly was amazing.

Gensokyo had some technology, of course, but it was halted. Things occasionally leaked in from the outside world, by her understanding, but there was something sad about knowing that there'd be no real technological development. It was a world of youkai, and even though she was now one herself, she thought it sad they were forced to sacrifice science for the sake of maintaining the status quo. At least that shop near the human village had extra information, extra devices. And all the humans and creatures around here could also tell her about how things had developed. Not a bad deal, on a whole. Temporarily, at least.

[Canon] Cloud Strife || Final Fantasy 7 || Reserve || 2 of 4

[personal profile] neverfirstclass 2013-09-01 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Cloud has a rather complicated personality at the very beginning of Final Fantasy 7, due to the combined effects of Mako poisoning and the influence of Jenova's cells in his body. Cloud unknowingly holds a false persona created by Jenova cells mixing with the memories of Zack's personality and alongside the over-confident and selfish attitude that Cloud believes a SOLDIER 1st Class would have. As the story progresses however, and the point he is being taken from, Cloud has eventually begun to show genuine concern for the fate of Gaia, his friends and the others they run into, opening up to them more as he interacts and spends close time with them. It is a very sharp contrast to his personality at the very beginning of the game, where he claims he does not care and only agreed to help AVALANCHE for the right price, shown in his interactions with Barret and Tifa at the Seventh Heaven bar when they prepare for their raid on the Sector 5 reactor.

At the beginning, Cloud is very egotistical, thinking himself better than others and not bothering to get himself close to anyone. Even the new player training is done with him giving dismissive and know-it-all responses to the people in the room, showing off the things he knows. This goes back to when he was a kid, when he held a very strong crush on Tifa, but loathed and hated the other children she was close with. This was partly due to jealousy, but also because of him thinking that he was a far better person to be around. This leada to him picking many fights with the other children, and becoming a bit of a lone wolf.

Later in the game Tifa explains that her and Cloud were never actually that close as children, while Cloud's descriptions and flashback in Kalm that the two were close childhood friends. She knew him as her neighbor, but their actual most major interaction was the night he said he was going off to become a SOLDIER, shortly after the incident in the mountains where she got herself hurt and he got blamed. He never forgave himself for being unable to protect her, and promised her that one day he'd come back and rescue her if she was in danger. His current recollection of the past is that he failed to save her during the Nibelheim incident, and while this is not true, Tifa was unconscious and Zack was the only witness.

Even though he seems cool and confident, there is a bit of levity to Cloud's attitude. Willingly crossdressing in order to save Tifa from the hands of a brothel, Cloud displays not only concern for his friends but begrudging self-sacrifice, it also shows that Cloud can roll with the punches (and still be able to crack a joke or two at his own expense). He also shows a sense of humor at the ribbing and jabbing he makes between other members of his party, teasing Barret about keeping his sailor uniform as pajamas once they arrive at Costa del Sol ("You look like a teddybear wearing a marshmallow")

Though most of his actions are influenced to a certain degree by Sephiroth and the mixture of cells and memories clouding his personality, Cloud seldom shows fear or doubt, running into fights or doing his best to save lives when he can. Even though he may at first he show hesitation, Cloud still performs heroic deeds, such as performing CPR on a young girl after being instructed on how to do so. This further shows Cloud's true selflessness, as well as an ability to perform calmly and collected in a dire situation.

He also has an expansive knowledge of things in their world, as there are a few points throughout the game where Cloud is asked to explain the use of an an item or a term or even a game command. Though these scenes are done as tutorials, it is Cloud who is instructing, showing his broad swath of knowledge. Even though he attributes this to his knowledge from his time in SOLDIER, it more likely comes as a mix of his time as a military grunt and as Zack's best friend. He's also adaptable and a quick learner, able to pilot a submarine without previous training, though as his original personality begins to surface his former symptoms of motion sickness (though not a personality trait) begin to show. It does, however, affect his feelings upon riding vehicles, but in the end he still plows through the pain and carries on.

His relationship with Tifa is a large plot point in the game, and there are several instances where Cloud, hopelessly clueless to Tifa's feelings, doesn't quite catch a phrase or euphemism that Tifa utters. During their gondola ride (if the player is able to achieve the outcome through flirting and correct menu choices), Tifa explains to Cloud that she wants to tell him something, saying that "Aerith would be able to tell you, probably. So I should, too." This alludes to the budding feelings that Tifa has for Cloud, but with Cloud's reply of nothing but a "?", Cloud seems oblivious to her feelings. The bravado he is showing through his SOLDIER persona has him constantly trying to play it cool, but he is overshooting his mark and misses those cues that he shouldn't be. It's not until their conversation at the airship the night before they go to Northern Crater that anything is resolved, though Tifa's reaction and level of embarrassment to everyone listening in depends on how the player has treated her over the course of the game.

When Cloud confronts Sephiroth during their numerous encounters, Cloud doesn't seem to harbor a malice for the terrible things that Sephiroth has done. Rather, Cloud seems to ask a string of questions before bothering to initiate an attack. His concern does lie with trying to stop Sephiroth, but not necessarily trying to kill him. Whether this has anything to do with being controlled by Sephiroth or not, it shows that even with his mortal enemy, the man who killed his Mother and destroyed his home town is a force to be stopped, not one to be snuffed out. Most outwardly, Cloud's driving force seems to be to want to understand, questioning why Sephiroth is doing this, and how he survived the battle in the reactor in Nibelheim. It isn't until later in the game that Cloud's resolve to destroy Sephiroth shows, as the only way to save Gaia is by fighting him to the death, a task that he believes he must handle himself and on his own to prove his self worth and identity.

Background: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Cloud_Strife

Abilities:
Cloud is stronger and more durable than an average human, on par with a high ranking SOLDIER, and has memories and knowledge of military procedures, particularly those of ShinRa. However, this is actually tied to his unwitting involvement in the Sephiroth Clone project and not the SOLDIER initiation program as he believes and states. He has very weak mental defenses because his own sense of self is not what he pretends it is, and because of the JENOVA cells in his blood. Sephiroth in particular can use these cells as a way to manipulate Cloud's body and mind.

Despite how true or not Cloud’s claims of being a member of SOLDIER are, his sword skills are top notch and at least help support his claim. I’ll leave it to the mods to select which limit breaks he has available if it’s an issue, but at the least he should have Braver and Cross Slash.

Re: [CANON] NIkola Tesla || Sanctuary || Reserve || 2 of 3

[personal profile] vampiregenius 2013-09-01 05:30 am (UTC)(link)

Personality:
Nikola Tesla is described as “an acquired taste” by Helen Magnus and that isn’t far from the truth. There aren’t many who can get along with Tesla at first. He really has to grow on you first.

First of all, this little genius is incredibly arrogant and conceited. He looks out for number one (for the most part) and number one only (or so he’ll say). He is brilliant, and that much is obvious, but he also knows he’s brilliant. And that’s where most of his insufferable traits come from. This arrogance makes him almost impossible to work with unless you are incredibly patient with him or on a level of intellect that is comparable to his own (because a level equal to his own is just impossible in his book). He tends to work well with Helen Magnus and sometimes, Henry Foss. Tesla will openly announce he is the most brilliant one in the room and have no shame in pointing it out any chance he gets. He aims mostly to look out for himself only, but despite this selfish behavior, he has been known to risk life and limb for Helen, as well as protect others. He even developed the antidote for the Lazarus Virus (though, he did take personal offence when Biggie refused it at first). He is known to worry about Helen’s safety and even preformed some very dangerous maneuvers to rescue Henry Foss.

Nikola has difficulty controlling himself. He’s rather changeable and almost on the verge of bipolar if you were to classify him psychologically. When he was first introduced, he came in offering to save Magnus’ life for just a kiss. He revealed his love for her, and that he always had loved her, but when she refused to join him, he shrugged it off and tried to kill her. His moods are near unpredictable at times and that makes him a tentative ally at first. Later on, he seems to tilt more on the side of good rather than evil, and has even defended the Sanctuary with Magnus and Henry.

Being part human and part vampire, he has an incredible pride in his race—the Sanguine Vampiris part of his race. The Source Blood injected into him back in the 19th century recognized a bit of Vampire DNA in his blood and allowed it to overtake his human nature. He was effectively transformed into one of the extinct Vampires and has had to live his life on a serum developed by Magnus that sates his blood lust so he doesn’t need to feed on humans or animals. Even after being apart from her for sixty plus years, he still used the serum in place of human blood. For a long time, he was dead-set on reviving the Vampire race until the day he met another pure blood vampire and she was a total “inbred bitch”. Upon trying to kill him and use Magnus as a human canteen, he decided he liked being the only one left.

Tesla can be very dangerous when agitated or in one of his moods, but he can also be a very powerful ally. As your ally, it is a good idea to keep in mind that he might have an ulterior motive to aiding you. As of late, the biggest danger he poses is to Helen’s winery. His “immortal metabolism” prevents him from intoxication, and he does have quite a love for wine, so he will drink bottle after bottle with no end in sight.

Nikola can be quite sassy most of the time. He’s keen on witty comebacks and general snark, often using these skills to hit on Helen Magnus every chance he gets. Even in a perilous situation he can find time for flirty sass. When the Adam AI for the Praxian nanite has them cornered in a virtual world, Helen asks him how his magnetism works in the virtual world, his reply is simple and flirty, “You tell me.” She expresses her exasperation and he shrugs it off nonchalantly.

When he isn’t hitting on Magnus or generally causing trouble, he’s working on new ideas and technology. Brainstorming designs and building incredible gadgets (that can also cause mayhem, but sometimes that’s unintentional). There are times when he’s so incredibly naïve about his work. For example, he half-way developed an energy grid to keep just about anything contained, but when Henry Foss mentions that SCIU will overcharge it and use it to kill everyone inside, he is upset, going as far as to insist that was not what it was designed for. The realization of the malevolent capabilities of his device in the wrong hands leaves him incredibly upset.

For someone hell-bent on world domination, Tesla has yet to actually dominate the world, and in fact has helped save it.

Background:
Wikia Biography

Abilities:
Nikola Tesla is the Nikola Tesla of the history books. Mostly. His intellect is probably not considered a real ‘ability’ but it partly stems from his heritage as part of the abnormal race, Sanguine Vampiris. He possesses a shifted form of pointed teeth and elongated (very elongated) claws, and black eyes when using his Vampiric powers which include strength, speed, healing, and longevity. He also has a special little ability to manipulate electro-magnetism. His uses for this almost seem to be endless when combined with his brilliant and creative mind. Originally, he possessed the ability to manipulate/generate electricity, but after becoming human, the ability was lost, replaced with electro-magnetism. When he was ‘re-vamped’, the electro-magnetism remained.

[Far be it from Nikola to find himself in odd places. Quite honestly, ‘odd places’ are the only places he ever finds himself in, but what makes this one ‘odd’ is that he can’t remember actually getting here. Sure, he’s taken his fair share of train rides to bizarre locations all over the world, but this one is almost reminiscent of home. And by ‘home’ he doesn’t mean Serbia, he means England in the 19th century. Classy, yet somewhat outdated in its fundamentals.

Adding to the List of Strange Things, he is quite certain the watch he is now holding in his hand was not there prior to his arrival. Curios piece of technology this is. Not only because it’s a pocket watch that just seems out of place, no, because it’s a pocket watch with functions of a modern-day smart phone.

He flips it over and over in his hands, examining the smooth surfaces and features. Skillfully, he activates the video feature as he steps off the train and into the station.]

Well, this is new. [His voice has a touch of an accent you can’t quite place and a musical lilt giving it an interesting quality.] Let me take an educated guess, [He begins, looking up from the watch’s screen and scanning his surroundings. It’s clear the wheels are turning in his head as he takes in every sight, building, and tree.] If I’ve been given this lovely little toy with all the capabilities of a cellular phone, but not a phone, it would seem this is someone’s way of mass communication. Probably with the population of this grand little city. [He places a finger to his lips in thought. When he moves it away to speak, the movement is fluid and graceful. This man is the epitome of eccentric.] So tell me, little birdies, why have I been kidnapped? [He holds up a hand quickly, to stem the tide of responses before they can even happen.] No, wait, I can answer that one. It’s obviously for my intellect. Not that I blame you, really. If I were you, I’d kidnap me too, but let’s be real here… Do you really think you can hold me against my will?

[As if answering Tesla, the train pulls out of the station, leaving him there to stare blankly at the vacant tracks. So, anyone actually watching his network video might notice he is now pouting. Thank you very much, Ruby City.] …well. I guess you can. [And with that little bit of humiliation, he snaps the watch shut.]

Third Person:
Nikola Tesla, vampire genius and smart-ass extraordinaire, found himself wandering the halls of the Sanctuary in distress. For the thirty-fifth time, he keyed the walkie and spoke, "Helen, this little game isn't funny anymore." His tone had gradually gone from light and jovial to irritated and finally what it was now, somewhat frantically worried. He couldn't find her, she wasn't answering her radio, and even her hairy assistant was clueless as to her whereabouts.

Tesla brushed by her lab again, glancing inside as he'd done ten times already in the span of an hour, when he decided to actually enter and perform a more thorough search. To his enormous relief, there was the woman in question, tucked away in a far corner with her head down on a table top. He smiled fondly down at the sight and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Helen," He waited for her to lift her head, blinking blearily, before he continued. "I think your bed might be more comfortable."

"I think you might be right." She replied, pealing a page of test results from her cheek.

"Wonderful! I'll join you!" Tesla chirped and clapped his hands together with a mischievous little grin.

This seemed to take a moment to register in Helen's groggy mind before she rolled her eyes and said his name, sharply clipped in warning. She couldn't help the small smile on her lips, however.

The Vampire didn't seem discouraged by her tone in the least. When was he ever one to be discouraged by Helen Magnus? He held out a hand to help her to her feet and used his hold to steer her towards the door when Henry and Biggie ran past before backtracking.

"You could have called." Henry griped, crossing his arms, facing off with Tesla. Behind him, Biggie grunted and nodded his agreement with the HAP.

"Oh, my apologies. I didn't know I had to inform the kids. I'll be sure to give you a call next time, Heinrich." Tesla quipped back, smiling toothily and gracefully danced past the pair with Magnus in tow.

"Nikola--"

"Oh, don't worry, Helen. I'll kiss their foreheads and tuck them in for you, you needn't worry." He cut her off and smiled brilliantly in her direction.

"What?" Confusion bloomed across her features. "No. I meant, I am perfectly capable of finding my bedroom on my own, thank you."

"Suit yourself. But I'd still be more than happy to keep you company in--"

It was Magnus' turn to cut him off, holding a hand up. "Goodnight Nikola." She turned from him and continued down the hall, leaving him standing there grinning.

Third Person:
Cloud's boots pounded on the pavement as he chased the shadow through the streets. Each glimpse was just a moment too late, only seeing trailing white hair or the fluttering of the black cape before it disappeared around a corner. Cloud grimaced as he kept chase. He was doing this on purpose! Keeping just out of reach, leading him along, but he couldn't just let that man go!

None of this made any sense. The things that he had said, the questions he was asking, talking about their meeting in Nibelheim as if it was something that happened recently and not five years ago. And what did he mean about the Temple of the Ancients. Puppet? What was he talking about?! He had to catch him and get some answers.

Another corner and....gone....damnit! Cloud punched the wall next to him, gritting his teeth as he looked around. No sign of him on the streets but his eyes drifted upward, looking at the clocktower up ahead. Sephiroth must have gone up there, or at least he'd be able to get a better view of the city.

Even here, far from Gaia, the chase was continuing; the man in the black cape, always a few steps ahead. He gripped the handle of the buster sword, prepared to unsling it from his back. Tifa had begged him to stay at the bar, but something had drawn him out to the ruins of that hotel.

{You should have stayed you know. She wanted you by her side but you ran away again.}

No, he didn't run away. He didn't know how, but he knew Sephiroth was here even before he saw him. He had to follow him. He had to know the truth. He ran on and into the tower, ready for whatever he found inside.

CHARACTER
Name: Rima Touya
Canon: Vampire Knight
Age: 16
Timeline: Chapter 49

Personality: Similarly to most of the night class, Rima seems to have seems to have accepted the Day Class students as a normal, albeit annoying, part of daily life. But unlike Aido or Ruka who seem to have opinions on the other students, Rima shows little (if any) interest in them at all, regardless of their endlessly enthusiastic attempts to grab her attention. In fact, she shows surprisingly little concern towards most things, for example when apprehending Zero along with a handful of others. From the start, she had seemed dubious about attacking him, asking the others if they are “really doing this” since Ichijou said not to, and afterwards shows how little she really cares about dealing with him by paying more attention to Kain’s “uncool” actions than to their target. Even so, the fact that she was there in the first place shows she does care genuinely about Kaname in her own discreet way, rather than hanging around him just because of his Pureblood status. It is later revealed that she attends the academy because she feels happy and comfortable in the place he created for them as opposed to being there because of her family’s political beliefs (pro-monarchy/Kaname).

For most of the story Rima appears calm, quiet and indifferent, not unlike her fellow model Shiki. She seems more curious than afraid when waiting for the arrival of a more powerful vampire, her face remaining blank and tone unvaried since she’s already use to being in the presence of someone “scarier”. Although her personality is quite similar to Shiki’s in some aspects, she tends to pay a little more attention to her surroundings – for example, informing him of the fact there really is a new student when he hears Ichijou murmuring about it and asks whether their friend is talking about a new book.

Despite the fact she is often reluctant to fulfil orders such as exterminating ex humans and being assigned to protect Yuuki Cross during the day, she follows Kaname’s orders without question and is able to carry them out without a fuss. While she and three others are watching over Yuuki, she doesn’t bother to hide her irritation regarding the situation, but still manages to maintain the respectful bodyguard role. And though this seems to be a result of wanting to complete the task somewhat professionally rather than actually respecting her at that point in time, she even interrupts Aidou’s rant in order to add “-sama” to Yuuki’s name. She is also seen attending the Winter Ball and dancing in a group with some day class students while wearing an expression that clearly shows a lack of enthusiasm. While sometimes compliant, she won’t pretend to be enjoying something when she isn’t.

She shows no guilt or remorse when killing vampires which were once human, viewing the task as a simply job which must be done and labelling it “no big deal”. Furthermore, she seems completely unconcerned about the presence of Level Es and the potential danger they pose, even finding the time to stop for a half serious conversation with her companion before getting on with the task at hand. Like all aristocrats at the academy, she understands the need to kill them off before they start attacking humans at random and that’s all there is to it. This indifferent outlook remains the same towards other vampires too and when another model tells the story of being followed by one that wasn’t driven by bloodlust, she simply listens in with mild interest before shrugging it off as minor problem since the girl wasn’t hurt and this sort of thing was to be expected in the current situation. However, this lack of interest towards ex human vampires and other vampires in general doesn’t seem to stem from the fact she looks down on them because the difference in their statuses; Rima is just naturally aloof.

As well as attending classes at night and hunting down ex humans during the day, she also spends time modelling with Shiki, and although she doesn’t seem to show much very enthusiasm towards the profession she takes it seriously and even scolds her friend when he doesn’t. Before meeting Shiki, she was a huge fan of his mother and wanted to follow in her footsteps, but ended up modelling rather than acting for an unknown reason (maybe modelling suits the default bored look more than acting, or modelling is just her path into acting since you have more choice once you’re famous). However, the additional activities that take place during the day when most vampires would be sleeping leave Rima tired and contribute to feelings of annoyance towards pointless things that require unnecessary effort.

Aside from the usual detached manner, she can be surprising short tempered, especially if someone she cares about it concerned in the matter. This was first triggered by Maria’s presence in Cross Academy, when she and the other members of the night class immediately became suspicious of their unexpected transfer student. Clearly unimpressed by the girl’s insolence during their first encounter, Rima doesn’t hesitate to snap at her rude interruption to a conversation with Shiki while the other model doesn’t say a word. Her responsive side is far more notable when Rido Kuran arrives at the Academy. Her close bond with Shiki allows her to immediately realise something is amiss after a brief exchange of words while the majority of other students remain oblivious to the internal change. She has no problems with speaking her mind when she has an opinion and occasionally makes sardonic comments towards her classmates e.g. describing Aidou’s passionate speech as “a little creepy” and openly telling Shiki Ichijou’s katana doesn’t suit him.

Rima encountered Shiki while working as a model long before she began attending the academy and the two are rarely seen without each other. She acts like the older sister in their relationship; worrying about him while they are apart and chiding him in situations that are both unimportant (“Just chase him” while hunting Level Es) and serious (“You should love yourself more!” when his body is taken over by Rido). She is loyal to and protective of her friends – even willing to endanger her own life by fighting against a superior Pureblood vampire and wander off into a remote forest soon after being injured to search for a friend who has gone missing.

As a random side note, she also has a liking for Pocky and cute things such as pink heart shaped bags and plushies.

Background: "Ever since long ago, stretching back into the shadows of history, there has been conflict between humans and vampires.”

The original vampire appeared a long time ago, when human civilisation began to crumble, and as the number of vampires increased, the Kuran family took control as the royal family. However, the head of the Kuran family two generations prior to the storyline chose to abolish the monarchy. This led to the formation of the Senate, which govern the vampire society. The vampire society at present is represented by a pyramid: purebloods > aristocrats > common vampires > former humans > former humans who have lost control and kill humans to satisfy their bloodlust. In the present day, aristocrats and vampire hunters work to eliminate Level E vampires, which harm humans, but generally try to avoid clashing. Higher class vampires take advantage of their superior abilities to work among humans as famous singers, actors, businessmen and athletes.

Rima is first introduced as part of the night class at Cross Academy, although she met Shiki through modelling at some point before this point. The academy was founded to help humans and vampires coexist peacefully. Unaware of the true identity of the night class students, the day class idolise the members of the night class due to their beautiful appearances to the extent of gathering outside of the moon dorms every evening just to catch a glimpse of the vampires on their way to classes. For this reason, two prefects from the day class are assigned to the job of keeping the identity of the night class a secret, maintaining order while the night class make their way to lessons and patrolling the school grounds at night to apprehend any day class students who attempt to sneak over to the night class buildings.

For the initial part of the story line, Rima lives a relatively uneventful school life much like the majority of the night class. She appears before one of the prefects, Zero, with a small number of other vampires to reprimand his disrespect towards the pureblood Kaname. However, their meeting is interrupted by the second prefect who prevents the two groups from fighting. She is later seen waiting in the moon dorms with the other vampires (all whom have decided to skip classes for the day and gather for the arrival of the head of the Senate) and also attends the Winter Ball, one of the few events which allow day class and night class students to mingle.

At the end of term a small group of vampires, including Rima, leave Cross Academy to visit the Aidou mansion for the holiday. Meanwhile, Shiki returns home to visit his mother at the request of his great uncle. During her time at the mansion, Rima is seen worrying about him while admiring the roses in the garden. After returning to the academy at the end of the holiday, Rima and three other night class vampires are ordered to follow and protect a day class girl (Yuki) during the day. She later returns to the moon dorm and collapses on the sofa, grumbling about the "weird job" and is immediately greeted by a maid who announces the return of her two friends, Ichijou and Shiki (who’s body has been taken over by his pureblood father). Despite their attempt to act normal, Rima instantly realises something is wrong when she notices her fellow model's mismatched eyes and asks “what happened?”. Before he can respond, he is pulled away by Ichijou who reminds him of something important to do.

Soon after she confronts Ichijou and Rido (who is using Shiki's body), and having come to the conclusion that he is not the Shiki she knows, demands to know his true identity. They engage in a battle and Rima is quickly overpowered by the power of a pureblood vampire. She comments on her gratefulness to the rapid healing ability possessed by vampires and ignores Ichijou's request to stop fighting. Disregarding the wound, she declares that she will kick the intruder out of her friend's body, but sustains a serious injury soon after, saved only by Ichijou’s warning. She then calls out to her friend and manages to her help him regain control over his body.

Rima is next seen lying in a bed after her fight, apparently recovering from her injuries and is carried out of the building by Shiki as it begins to crumble during the fight between purebloods and hunters. As he lifts her up, she stirs from her sleep and comments that she is hungry, asking her friend for some blood later. Following the end of the battle on the school grounds and the disappearance of their close friend, Ichijou, Rima and Shiki are seen wandering into the forest at night to search for him while ignoring the protests of their manager.

Abilities:
- Enhanced senses: vampires generally tend to avoid sunlight because it hurts their eyes. They can detect the scent of blood through long distances (i.e. when vampires in the moon dorms comment on the smell of Yuki’s blood despite being on the other side of school).
- Superior strength, speed and physical abilities: during her fight with the pureblood, Rima easily leaps into the air and flips over while avoiding her opponent’s attacks.
- Superior intelligence: despite being relatively young, the night class were able to develop blood tablets which help to relieve vampires from their bloodlust. Academically, Rima is good at all subjects.
- Decelerated aging: vampires generally have a longer life span than humans and age more slowly. The rate of ageing varies depending on the purity of a vampire’s blood.
- Unnatural beauty: vampires often take advantage of their attractive looks in order to attract humans as a source of blood.
- Erasing memories: this is used to modify the memories of victims or humans who discover the existence of vampires by accident.
- Rapid healing: although she was stabbed through the upper body during her fight and confined to bed for a short period of time, Rima is seen walking around again the next day. Cuts also vanish seconds after they are inflicted and wounds that would usually kill a human can be recovered from (e.g. Ichijou manages to survive after having his heart partially cut out of his chest).
- Electricity: she can generate electric shocks while touching someone and shoot lightning bolts from the palm of her hands towards enemies.
