APPLICATIONS

APPLICATIONS

Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.
✗ If you are looking for an example of what an application should be like, please refer to the application here for an example of a canon character application, and here for an original character application.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

Personality:
Daryan comes off as a serious and level-headed man that likes rock music, and a penchant for justice. Some people find this especially odd, seeing as rock music symbolizes rebellion and the police symbolizes quite the opposite. Regardless of the conflicting symbolism, he could really give a flying rat's ass about people's opinions about it. He dislikes a lot of things, and the list is considerably longer than his "likes" list, such as "people touching his guitar" to "people touching my hair"... or just "people" in general. He's quick to anger and prone to violence, demonstrated clearly in his attempts to murder not only an Interpol agent, but a blind woman- although these two examples are rather poor, seeing as they were merely caught up on the wrong side of his smuggling plans. But it's not a long shot to say that his quick temper could easily build up to something more drastic.

Obviously, he's not very good in socializing with people without being somewhat over-bearing. First impressions usually don't go awry and is generally friendly, but if there's even a little something he doesn't like about the other person, their relationship quickly goes south. He's honest with his feelings at least, and doesn't lead anyone on in thinking that they'll be good friends or anything. Even when meeting with relatively easy-going characters like Apollo or Trucy, he develops a dislike for them just after their second meeting- especially towards Apollo. He gives Apollo the nickname 'Spikes' in reference to his hair, and even straight out tells them "I don't like you two.", then goes on his way. It might've just been Apollo and Trucy poking about in his illegal affairs that make him on-edge, but he generally seems to be an unpleasant person to be around and doubly so when he's in a bad mood. Despite all these horrible sounding personality traits, he's not a jerk without having a good reason to be, and is tolerable most of the time. Some of his good qualities are that he's a hard worker, is fairly smart, and a talented guitarist.

When it comes down to his work, he has a lot of strengths. He's extremely focused, and pays good attention to detail. A good example would be the entire plan he pulls off with smuggling the cocoon from the country of Borginia. It takes a lot of balls to smuggle something out from a country that penalizes all smugglers of said cocoon with death. It's not easy to phase him, able to mask his feelings and emotions or cover them up with a completely different one to throw people off the scent. All the physical and psychological training that comes into becoming a police officer (then detective) really pays off and he makes an effort to incorporate all that training into his day-to-day. Even when it comes down to the band, he puts his all into it, needing to match Klavier's standards for perfection. He likes to complain and give Klavier grief about his perfectionism, but he really does want to please Klavier since he's the only guy he really deems worthy of respect in both the music and law enforcement world. His weaknesses include lack of sympathy with others (though he wouldn't see it as a weakness) and his temperament. There aren't very many instances of everyday fear, but he does snap pretty easily when he's cornered, like with any criminal that sees no way out. It's very likely that he hasn't committed any crimes of this nature before, so it would be reasonable to think that he was very on-edge and fearful during the entire ordeal- but the fact that he operated with a level-head and seemingly calm disposition shows that even under great stress, he can still think relatively clearly.

Background:
Ye olde history.

Abilities:
No particular abilities outside of a normal human being. He has normal strength, normal response times, and normal everything else. The year that he was convicted and hauled off to prison, he had just made detective in International Affairs so he's had basic training and tests when first starting off as a police officer. He's also a talented musician, who played second guitar in Prosecutor Klavier's band The Gavinners.

And here I thought being sentenced to death was the worst thing to ever happen to me. Long ass train rides can really make a guy think, I guess. Turns out I was fuckin' right. This is way better than dyin' for a shit crime.

[Whether that's sarcasm or not, it's your call because he sure as hell isn't calling it for you. But for something that shouldn't sound sarcastic, he's really piling the tone on there.]

Guess not dyin' comes with a price, since I can't remember a damn thing about getting this pocket watch that's not a pocket watch. Can't remember anyone tellin' me about being shipped to some town in buttfuck nowhere, either.

Third Person:
Once he'd gotten over the initial confused and 'meh, whatever' phase, Daryan felt like he need a drink. It pleased to him know that there was indeed a bar of some sort in this bizarre ghost town.

There was no drinking or celebrating in a cell room, so it's been a while. Not that he had anything to celebrate while in his cell, though he's pretty sure he felt fear and terror wash over him when the guard had come to unlock the door to take him to the transport vehicle. That merited a drink, right? He found himself recalling the events of the day before arriving here: Did he get a last meal? Was the execution held in a different building? He remembered having all these questions but unable to voice them when they'd taken hold of his arms to lead him outside. The jeers and cries of the other inmates, some he had even helped put behind bars, they couldn't even penetrate the mind-numbing fear. His initial worry about going to prison was facing them, to have to deal with their bullshit and fight his way to the top. It wasn't as bad as this- the trek to one's death without any way to fight your way out of it.

"H-Heh, guess they've finally set the date, huh?" He muttered to the guards on each side of him. They were silent, as they should be.

Daryan hadn't bothered with getting a conversation out of them. He sat in the car, then was... huh. He couldn't really remember much after that. Somehow he had gotten on a train and his cuffs were gone. No guards. No nothing. Though he did remember a vague feeling of a presence that made his hair stand on end. He remembered wondering why that all made sense at the time, but thinking back on it, was really ridiculous.

"Yeah, that drink sounds real fuckin' good right about now." Shaking his head, he took a couple of steps off the platform and towards the city. He wasn't worried about not finding it in time- there was plenty of time, now. Nobody tracking him down, nobody chasing him. Just a guy with a pocket watch. Oh, right, what the hell was he doing with a pocket watch, anyway? Perhaps someone just-

Ugh, nope, drink first. Questions later.
