APPLICATIONS

✗ Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.

As well as their general posture and mannerisms as well, like quirks or vocal tics. <b>Chosen PB:</b> First come, first serve. Please check the taken PB page. You are also welcome to use your own or commissioned art, or icons that do not depict your characters face but facets of their personality as well. <b>Items with character at canon point</b>: Tell us what your character has with them at the point you have pulled them from - this includes any animal companions. <b>Personality:</b> This should be self explanatory. However, when discussing personality please include why they have particular personality traits, how this effects their lives and interactions. Please provide us with insight to your character and their behaviour, their likes, dislikes and fears, as well as your understanding of them. The minimum will be three well-written paragraphs, but you should be able to write more. <b>World Information:</b> Please go as in depth as you can about the world. A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

Despite her lack of trust towards strangers, should she develop some sort of friendly bond towards someone, she is more likely to open up to them; such was the case with John where after she ceased trolling him and held proper conversations where she wasn’t constantly saying how great she was and eventually decided to help him.

Vriska does also have some genuine feelings, she isn’t all about kill or be killed and out to get everyone, though she is slightly paranoid that people instantly hate her. Vriska does actually care and does show some form of regret towards her actions, even if it’s not shown in the right way, she does wish to atone for her mistakes.

She still, however, does enjoying being the centre of things and though she is less likely to brag to people she knows, she’s still determined to make a “good” impression on other people and will do what she can to make her seem like the best and will find a way to make a conversation be about her.

First Person:
[Of all the things on her list of shit to do before sunrise, one of them was trek across a desert - or rather "trek across the shitty desert that makes up your shitty land and find some shitty treasure". Vriska still mutters to herself about what a stupid idea it was to write that. Why in fucks name would anyone want to hike through mile after mile after mile of sand, grit and heat.

Vriska plods through, her footprints quickly vanishing as the sand rolls back over it. The waves of heat rising off the ground causing the hoofbeasts in the distance to look distorted.

Even so, there was no mistaking that red cloak on the tiny person. The thought of how she looks so small next to the hoofbeasts causes Vriska to chuckle to herself.

Vriska approaches her slowly, hoping to scare her when she hears her name.
Damn. So close. A sheepish look spreads across Vriska's face.]

Third Person:
Vriska groaned, rubbing her temples as she stood on the platform, her long tangled hair whipped about by the wind. She tried to recall what had happened to put her here. She remembered some sort of large hunkering box, the thing that was puffing off into the distance now. She remembered vast plains and fog, lots of fog.

She removed her glasses, cleaning the lens on the black fabric of her t-shirt, which was emblazoned with a now faded cerulean blue Scorpio symbol, quickly putting them back on less something decide to jump her while she was more or less blind, after all, her bad luck put her here, and though the chance of something mauling her was unlikely, her luck would see that it would happen.

How long had she been standing here now, eight seconds, eight minutes, eight hours? Time just seemed to linger on and panic was slowly brewing within her, though she refused to show it. Shoulders hunched, she felt something weigh down her jacket, and it wasn’t the usual weight of her dice either.

She put her hand to her pocket, taking out some sort of round object. She flipped it around in her hand, prodding and tapping at it until it sprung open, revealing some sort of keypad-like thing and static strangling already barely audible voices. “Jeez this place just gets weirder and weirder” she muttered to herself as she started walking along the platform, placing the device back in her pocket.

Didn’t need help before, don’t need help now. If this was someone’s idea of revenge, she could easily play along.

Vriska, despite not having a strongly emphasised duality theme, does have two very distinct sides to herself.

The most known side to her is the fact that she's an arrogant, manipulative bitch, who's always blaming her problems on everything - usually her "shitty luck" - but herself. Even after everything she's done, paralysing Tavros, killing Aradia, and blinding Terezi, she still finds reason to complain that no one likes her. She does, however, hold herself highly, and when not complaining about how horrible her luck is, will brag about herself, or find ways to turn a conversation in her favour so that she can brag about herself.

Then there's the nicer, softer side to Vriska, who very rarely makes an appearance, unless she's comfortable and trusts the person she's with, which, when it comes to Vriska, is an honour to have, as she is very insecure. She has only trusted one person with her feelings, that being John. She has expressed feeling guilty about killing Tavros, despite that troll society says she is within her rights to kill him. Vriska continues to blame troll society for more of her problems, such as the numerous trolls she's had to kill and feed to her lusus just to stay alive.
Before her showdown with Terezi, she tells John that her real reason for fighting Jack is to protect everyone, rather than for glory, despite the fact that, although she was fulfilling a paradox, she had wanted the glory of not only creating the Bec-prototyped Jack, but also the one to slay him.

I think what people tend to forget about Vriska though, is the fact that she not only struggles to find herself and step out of her ancestor's shadow, but also has many hidden insecurities. Her FLARP character was based off of Marquise Spinneret Mindfang as she looked up to her. Vriska's admiration for her ancestor went so far as to her trying to get in a quadrant with Tavros because of an entry in Mindfang's journal stating how she was in a flushed relationship with the Summoner, who is Tavros' ancestor.

And while she may not outright say it, or even show it very well, she does honestly care about her friends, and she does wish to atone for her mistakes. She blames her problems on other people and on various things such as luck, culture and other such entities, because it's easier then admitting that it's her fault. It's easier than facing facts that she was the one to screw everything up.
This only adds to her insecurities, which make up part of the reason as to why she brags. If she can make herself look good, even at other people's expense, she feels better. During her initial conversations with John, she bragged about her FLARPing exploits as well as stating her name was Mindfang, before later telling him her real name, again due to her admiration towards her ancestor.
