APPLICATIONS

✗ Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header

If they possess any abilities, learned or otherwise, they need to go in this section. <b>Network/Actionspam Sample:</b> This is the format that will be used in rubycity_rp and must be in action form (brackets). We are looking for a minimum of 6 to 10 lines that give us an idea of how your character speaks/acts. This sample may be linked, either from a musebox, different game or our test drive, provided that the linked example was written within the last six months. <b>Prose Log Sample:</b> This is the format that will be used in rubycity_logs and must be a minimum length of 250 words. This sample must be in prose format (paragraphs, no brackets) and should show character reactions/introspection. It does not need to be in game's setting, but it must demonstrate your character as you are apping them. As well as their general posture and mannerisms as well, like quirks or vocal tics. <b>Chosen PB:</b> First come, first serve. Please check the taken PB page. You are also welcome to use your own or commissioned art, or icons that do not depict your characters face but facets of their personality as well. <b>Items with character at canon point</b>: Tell us what your character has with them at the point you have pulled them from - this includes any animal companions. <b>Personality:</b> This should be self explanatory. However, when discussing personality please include why they have particular personality traits, how this effects their lives and interactions. Please provide us with insight to your character and their behaviour, their likes, dislikes and fears, as well as your understanding of them. We would also like to see details of your character's strengths and weaknesses, which may include physical, psychological and emotional. The minimum will be three well-written paragraphs, but you should be able to write more. <b>World Information:</b> Please go as in depth as you can about the world. There is no wiki or website for us to reference, and we need to know as much as we can about the place your character comes from so that we can understand the character when reviewing the application. <b>History:</b> Your characters’ history in their world. A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

Personality:
Sam is a warm-hearted hunter who tends to empathize and show compassion towards the people he meets and helps. He often takes the lead in questioning victims and often tries to offer them some kind of comfort or kind word after a traumatic event. He tends to choose his words carefully and pick his battles, though he has been known to exhibit the trademark Winchester stubbornness when fighting or holding a grudge.

Sam tends to be more open-minded when it comes to accepting people and things than his brother, leading him to come to the conclusion that the world is more gray than strictly black and white. Even though Sam often demonstrates more sensitivity than Dean, he is not afraid of confrontation and can be aggressive if he feels like he should push an issue, voice his opinion or is convinced that he is doing the right thing. In extreme cases, he believes that the means justifies the end, and will work relentlessly to justify something to himself and others if it means that it helps or saves others.

He can come across as more than a little self righteous and sometimes entitled. Especially when he believes that he possesses skills and knowledge that can get the job done better. When he is angry he tends to tense up and lash out with words aimed to show strong reason, or when that fails, stronger emotions. He has no problem going off and solving a problem on his own if he can't get the backing of others. The takes a strong responsibility for those around him and tends to take things too seriously rather than too lightly. He is also the first to blame himself when things go wrong.

For the most part, Sam believes that there is good in himself and in the world at large. This makes him more willing to give people a chance, though he is anything but naive. For the most part, he tries to hope for the best and be prepared for the worst, which is a very different approach than his brother usually takes to things.

He values his independence and the ability to think on his own, but is also afraid of losing the acceptance and love of his brother, which he desperately needs. The last three years have stripped away the possibility of a normal life outside of hunting and the death of his brother only strengthened his dedication to fighting and beating demons any way he can.

Hello?

[Sam's worked out how to use the audio on his watch, but he's not entirely sure who he's broadcasting to. The watch isn't like anything he's ever seen before.]

Can anyone hear me?

[He has a good idea who is behind this and his jaw tightens as does his fingers around the watch.]

Where am I? Where's my brother?

[He pauses and takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly.]

You know, I never thought there'd come a day when I actually found myself wanting to be an atheist. Congratulations. After everything, and I mean everything, I now wish there wasn't a God. Or any of you.

Third Person: (Sample taken from a previous game.)

Apocalypse. Angels. Antichrist. Nothing that Dean had said over the journals or now in person was making any sense to Sam. That combined with the fact that his brother looked way more worn and beaten down than Sam had ever seen made Sam wonder if there was something really wrong. Plus, Dean had more than enough sense not to be spouting words like antichrist around a bunch of strangers that had woken up in the same deserted town that they had. One of the first rules of hunting was not singling yourself out and as far as he could tell Dean had been doing just that. Just because they knew the Yellow Eyed Demon wasn't behind this didn't mean that Lilith wasn't. For all they knew, she'd stuck them here so that they wouldn't be able to find a way out of Dean's deal.

Not that there weren't other possibilities. Who was this Castiel person and how did he know the Trickster? The Trickster could bend reality, but did it have the power to pull people from different times? It didn't make any sense. Neither did the fact that there were people here that knew them. People that he didn't remember meeting and knew things about Sam that he wouldn't have ordinarily shared with anyone else. They needed to get to the bottom of this and then get out. So why Dean was suddenly acting like a mental case was beyond him.

As he pulled him towards a back booth and away from the small gathering of people he studied his brother's movements and eyes. He was moving fine and his pupils weren't dilated, so it wasn't a concussion or drugs. He released his arm only when they got to the back of the diner. "Dean, what the hell is going on?" Sam asked, studying his face. "What antichrist incident? What are you talking about? We just buried Doc Benton less than a day ago." He had to bite his tongue not to mention that they also might have buried Dean's only chance to escape the deal. "And why are you suddenly in biblical mode? Angels, apocalypse, antichrist? All you need is a bell and a sandwich board that says 'The End is Near'."
