APPLICATIONS

APPLICATIONS

Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.
✗ If you are looking for an example of what an application should be like, please refer to the application here for an example of a canon character application, and here for an original character application.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

[Canon] Daniel | Once Upon a Time | No Reserve | 2 of 2

[personal profile] stableboy 2013-02-17 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Daniel is a kind-hearted and optimistic man. He prefers to think well of people, as opposed to assuming the worst. Even knowing what Cora was like, he preferred to believe that she would allow her daughter to find happiness, rather than choose to force her to be miserable and marry a man she did not love.

When it comes to Regina, he is patient with their need to hide their relationship, but he is also disappointed. He wants to be able to show his love for Regina, regardless of who is around. In his opinion, true love is greater than any magic, and they would always be able to overcome the obstacles between them. A hope that turned out to be false, unfortunately for both of them

He is an honest man, unfond of hiding their relationship. He believed they should be upfront with their love, but seeing Regina's fear, he agreed to run away with her and start a new life. They would not have had much, but they would have had each other. For him that was all that mattered.

Daniel is good with animals, working with horses and showing the kind of patience required when dealing with such large and easily spooked creatures. He takes good care of them and seems to enjoy his work, even if he is not particularly fond of Cora or the way she treats Regina.

Over-all he is a little too trusting in his faith in people, but he has (or had) a good heart and a strong sense of hope.

First Person:
[The gentleman studying the watch seems to be trying to discern just what exactly it is. Some form of magic? Whatever it is, it is not nearly as confusing as the realization that he is somewhere entirely unfamiliar, and, more importantly, alive.

Rather than address the watch, he looks around the empty station, holding tight to the ticking reminder of his continued existence.]

Hello? Is anyone there?

Third Person:
The train rattled slowly to a stop on the tracks, Daniel still tracing his fingers along the face of the watch with a curious stare. It wasn't as though he had never seen anything like it. Just nothing quite as unusual as this one.

The relative silence of the empty train car is peaceful, but also unsettling. Leaving him to his thoughts and his confusion. Was he dead? Was this what death was? He had never stopped to consider what it might be like before.

Idly, he rubbed a hand over his chest, the feel of his heart still beating beneath the skin almost startling. What had he expected? Some sort of empty wound? He felt hollow...

So this was what it was to die.

Regina...

Where was she now?

Would she be forced to marry that king?

He bowed his head and watched the light and shadows move across the floor. What kind of person does that to people in love?

Expanded Personality

[personal profile] stableboy 2013-02-17 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel has lived a simple life. As a stable boy he has never really had to deal with the politics of wealth or status. His life has always been of a more simple nature. This has allowed him to become a very optimistic man. He believes that happiness is of much greater value than wealth, or power. This is perhaps, why he is so ready to believe in true love and the power behind it. After all, what force could ever hope to stand in the way of true happiness?

It has to be said that, for his age and the life he lives, Daniel proves to be a naive man. He believes there is good in people, and is willing to give even the less savory individuals the benefit of the doubt. When Regina expressed her fears of what Cora would do to them if she found out, he was reluctant to agree. He wanted to believe that a mother would not stand in the way of her daughter's happiness, not even Cora.

Still, he chose to run away with Regina, with the news that Cora had agreed to have her daughter marry the king. He knew he would not be able to offer her much in life, but they would be happy together, and for him, that was more than enough. There is nothing that true love can not conquer, and so, surely, they would find a way to survive. He would do anything for Regina.

He proved to be more than willing to trust that Cora had, in fact, come to her senses and was willing to let her daughter find happiness, with her blessing, and so his murder came as a completer surprise to him, at her hand. What he fully believed to be a gesture of good will and forgiveness only sealed his fate, cruelly and far too soon. He underestimated Cora's willingness to put power and wealth above love, because he, himself could not understand why anyone would do such a thing.

He has faith, a good heart, and a lot of patience, but that was not enough to save him, and for his trust and naivety, he paid the ultimate price.
