I apologize for the mistake. I'll fix it right away, but first, is there anything else that needs to be changed about the sample, or will simply correcting the tense be acceptable?

Thank you!

[Jean Prouvaire understands that he should feel afraid. The rational part of his mind knows that this is no afterlife. No paradise. There is too much decay. It looks more like the barricade than heaven to him. And yet, he cannot help but press on with fascination marked in his eyes, like a child who is too innocent for fear and can only look at the world in wonder.]

Hello?

[He calls, and listens for a reply. He uses English, because that's the only language on the sign he had seen earlier, that he recognized and could read. It does seem funny to him that heaven would be English.

Even though this doesn't seem like heaven, he can't think of another explanation. The last thing he remembers before getting off the train is… well… He places his hand on his chest and lets his heart say a prayer for what he left behind.

He feels cold metal through his shirt and looks down at his wrist. He’d checked his fob and watch chain back at the sign and found nothing, so he’d dismissed the sign as nonsense. The strange thing on his wrist isn't what he would call a watch, but he recognizes the face. A feeling of making progress washes over him, and it's with a smile that he began to push the buttons.]

Hello? Can anyone hear me?

[He asks, using English again, colored with a rich French accent.]

CHARACTER
Name: Jefferson
Canon: Once Upon A Time
Timeline: Post "Lady of the Lake"
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a

Personality: Jefferson's personality shifts dramatically over the course of the series, giving us a fuller image of who he is as a whole.

In flashbacks to his youth, he's shown to be confident and smooth-talking, with highly animated expressions and a restless energy. It's clear he enjoys what he does as well as the freedom afforded to him by having a hat that can transport him anywhere he wants. This is a Jefferson that is very devil-may-care, more daring than sense, likely out of lack of anything or anyone to come back to and therefore very little to lose. He's on the move too often to be tied down to any one place, and with his odd jobs procuring a good amount of gold he can live comfortably wherever he chooses. He's obviously used to being on the move, as he claims he's made many enemies in his travels. One expects he never willingly stays someplace for long. He's got a definite sense of style, his attire rather dramatic and sleek with a touch of dandy to it. Though he consorts with more nefarious sorts he's more a flight-than-fight individual, and not malicious unless the job calls for it. Being ruthless and self-serving at the cost of someone's else's feelings doesn't appear to trouble him at all, however. Indeed, conning Regina only to dash her hopes seems to bring him amusement ("You should have seen her tears!") though this is probably a lack of empathy more than active malice. He also shows an overt level of flirtatiousness and a disregard for personal boundaries, given by how close he stands to people or how easily he touches even a complete stranger, and it's hard to tell if this is for shock value, him being cheeky on principle, or just not understanding the concept of 'personal space'.

The Jefferson we see as a single parent is much more subtle creature, as well as utterly devoted to his daughter Grace and her well-being. Having loved and lost has taken its toll on him, and becoming a parent has seriously reshuffled his priorities. He's considerably poorer and in shabbier shape, the obviously colorful clothing he still favors very worn and faded from hard living. He's shown to be resourceful in his poverty, selling mushrooms from the forest for coin and crafting toys for his daughter when he can't afford the real thing, though it obviously pains him not to provide for her in the way he thinks he should. He also seems to have sacrificed his world-jumping habits, claiming that doing so cost them Grace's mother and he doesn't want her to lose her father as well. He's matured quite a bit in his willingness to settle down somewhere for the long haul and care for someone else's needs above his own, though he is still obviously very impulsive and emotional, as seen in the way he offers a vendor at market every copper in his pocket to get Grace a white rabbit toy. He still has no concept of personal space, or else has grown beyond caring, readily getting into Regina's space even when preparing to send her packing. Regina claims that hard living has strengthened his resolve, but it seems a part of him still falls under the sway of others if it means he gets what he wants: in this case, the means to care for his daughter.

The Jefferson that is then seen in Storybrooke is a very broken individual, with only small pieces of his former personas still clinging. What he loves most has been taken from him, and he has spent a good deal of time in captivity, being forced over and over again to try and make a hat that will work when he knows the task is pointless. His determination to see his daughter again trumps all else. The repetition of his task, his imprisonment, and his status in the town as a recluse and one of the only people to realize that they're time-locked has resulted in him becoming unhinged over the course of nearly three decades, watching the same day recycle itself again and again, and watching his daughter in the capable hands of a family that, in truth, might have the better resources to care for her. He readily voices bitterness, particularly towards her new father, implying a great deal of possessiveness. This Jefferson is above all other things desperate. He retains some of that twitchy energy from his youth, but is better at channeling it, and skilled at putting up a friendly face even when his intentions are anything but. He is bitter, angry, and violent when he feels he has cause, and he is more willing to fight now with his daughter on the line. There are still lines he will not cross, and he is told repeatedly by the woman who betrayed him that as much as he may want to kill, he does not have the capacity to kill in him. He does, however, trigger a set of events that give another character motivation to kill her instead, so it may be less nobility than a lack of stomach for doing it himself. He certainly doesn't have any qualms about threatening violence, holding Emma at gunpoint in order to earn her cooperation, as well as physically grappling with her later when she and Mary-Margaret try to escape his house. He's also developed definite self-loathing for the poor decisions he's made, blaming himself in part for his inability to return to his daughter's side, a fear he projects onto her when the curse is broken and he has the opportunity to go to her at long last. He falters, voicing the fear that she'll hate him for leaving her. It is a fear that turns out to be wholly unfounded as the two tearfully reunite.

First Person: [ This is all too familiar, stuck in a strange world with no way out. God knows he's tested the boundaries enough in the past hour. Finally desperation has him reaching out, dialing into the network until it appears the video has gone live. Weariness lines his face, shadows his eyes, his mouth set in a thin, grave line. ]

Does anyone know what they want with us here? How long are we to be kept here?

[ There's an urgency to his voice, as level as he tries to keep it. He's not doing very well at hiding his anxiety...but then after almost three decades, there are bound to be cracks in the facade. ]

I have to get home. Now. My daughter, she's waiting for me...

[ He almost stops there, biting the inside of his lip and glancing upwards. After a moment to compose himself he goes on, almost more to himself than the network. ]

I'm not leaving her again.

[ The feed promptly goes dead. ]

Third Person: The days passed as they ever had. Day in, day out, always the same. Jefferson dined alone, drank alone. He sat in the hat room staring at his creations, searching for their faults, sometimes for hours. When he needed mindless distraction he turned to the piano, the manic melody that sprawled across the keys somewhat cathartic. Later that day he broke a mirror in the bathroom in a sudden blind rush of frustration. He made the mistake of doing it with a bare fist. The mess gave him something to do for the next few hours, at least.

Now he'd taken to watching the town from his window once again. It was how he kept up with everything despite never being seen in town, observing who talked to whom, and where, and when. He turned his gaze to his daughter, chatting happily with her new family at the dinner table. How well cared for she looked, happy, and oblivious to his existence entirely. Reach out to her, Emma had said, but he wasn't that cruel. Learning you had been eleven years old for twenty-eight years...how could a person even begin to cope? How could he take that smile of hers away?

Jaw working tightly, he focused his gaze elsewhere in the town. He'd seen Emma walking the street with August, and whatever conversation they'd been having, it wasn't a happy one. He couldn't know for certain what was being said, but given that night at Granny's and August's quest to make Emma believe? He was reasonably sure he could guess. Drawing away from the telescope he set his sights nearer, watching the birds in the forest outside.

He could go down into town, but what would be the point? No one knew him, no one that knew him wanted him, and you could feel every bit as alone in a crowd as you could on your own. Maybe he'd go back to the piano tonight, grab a drink from the cabinet, and play until he couldn't feel his fingers.

CHARACTER
Name: Bela Talbot
Canon: Supernatural
Timeline: 3.12 (Jus in Bello)
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:

Bela is sarcastic, witty and can come off as quite cold when you first meet her. Always wanting to get one up on people, she uses her charm to flatter them and massage their ego so she can get what she wants. Fiercely independent, she has always relied on herself to get by and this is mostly driven by her occupation. She is confident and outgoing when it comes to social events, but doesn't seek to be the centre of attention. Bela likes to manipulate people to achieve her goals, not caring about the consequences of her actions. Pride is important to Bela, she would never normally ask someone for help unless it was an emergency. She also hates being indebted to people and likes to settle a score either through payment or information. If you're on her side, she'll treat you well; cross her, and you're asking for trouble.

She is quite intelligent and has a solid knowledge of the supernatural world, which is very important in her line of work. She shows a keen interest in anything to do with the arts or history, which also made her choose her career path; she is also very articulate and scholarly, having a great love for literature. Bela likes money as it fulfils the lifestyle that she leads and would do almost anything to get it. She is very elegant in her mannerisms and the way that she carries herself in front of others, maintaining a polite persona when it is required.

Not only is Bela a thief, she is a con artist: easily slipping into different roles and aliases, using this tactic for when she is on a job for a client. Using her charm and wit to lull people into a false sense of security is something that she likes to do if needed. Bela is not above using her beauty or seduction skills to complete a task; she understands that it is a method that can have quite effective results. She has even played the 'damsel in distress' card, faking a swoon in order to obtain a particularly valuable item. Essentially, Bela uses all the tools and skills that she has to achieve her goals, even if she wouldn't like some of her actions at times.

However, there is a quiet and vulnerable side to Bela that most people don't get to see because she doesn't like to show it; she finds it hard to let others in. Due to what happened to her as a child, Bela doesn't trust people easily and has trouble building up relationships. She has built walls around herself and maintains a front to deceive people, afraid to show her true nature. This would explain why she abandoned her original name and life; Bela Talbot is this persona that she has created to hide behind. When she was Abby, she never got the love she craved from her parents. They abused her and this played an important part in shaping who she was.

She seems to substitute money for love, always wanting to acquire luxuries and drive around in her upmarket car. There is not much known about Bela's love life or how she views sexual relationships. However, she's not afraid to use her wiles or her forwardness to achieve what she wants.

Her encounters with the Winchesters are certainly interesting; little by little it unveils some more of her personality and how she views the world. They can't believe that she would exploit her knowledge of the supernatural world to gain money and she doesn't share a very favourable view on hunters, telling them: "Come on! You do this out of vengeance and obsession. You're a stone's throw from being a serial killer." She is willing to sell people out if it saved her own skin and she did this once to the Winchesters, when she told Gordon Walker (a hunter driven to kill Sam) their location. Bela even went as far to call the FBI on the brothers as a way of leading them off her trail after she stole the Colt from them. There isn't a limit to what Bela would do to survive; she was willing to kill Sam to get out of her deal.

First Person:

[After snooping around a little, Bela hadn't yielded much information about where she was or how she could leave. Normally, she was quite good at getting people to talk-either through charm or threats but Bela came up empty today. There was no one else around and all she could remember was a train journey, fog and then the station.

She tapped at the pocketwatch she held in her hand and the object sprung to life, much to Bela's surprise. She thought it was broken; it wasn't like any other watch she had seen because it had a screen. It reminded Bela of something from a spy film..curiouser and curiouser...
]

Well, isn't this a treat? Stuck in some unknown place with no familiar landmarks and only a bloody pocketwatch for my trouble. Not exactly a welcome gift I expected to receive.

[After fiddling with the watch, Bela manages to switch the feed from audio to video. She's a striking young woman with long, light brown hair and piercing green eyes. From her accent, one can tell that she was born and bred in England, her words pronounced and crisp. It's safe to say that she's displeased with the situation, judging by her annoyed expression.]

I'm beginning to wonder if there is anyone actually here but if my kidnapper is out there, please step forward. If it's money you want, I can provide that. I'll be on my best behaviour. No tricks. Just business.

[The feed times out and Bela is left wondering if anyone is going to respond because she's doubtful. What she does know is that she doesn't want to stay here.]

Third Person:

The French diplomat's gaze was too fixated on her chest to notice Bela's hand slipping into his pocket to retrieve the key card she needed to get into the vault and retrieve the cursed dagger she was after. The item itself was worth about two million dollars ( five million if you sold it on the black market) and Bela already had a client lined up to buy it. Everything had gone to plan so far and it seemed that this was going to be an easy job. When it was over, she was going to leave the diplomat's home, catch the next flight back to America and hand deliver the dagger to the buyer.

A simple case of get it, then get out.

Choosing a life of crime wasn't the path that Bela had set herself on when she was younger. If anything, she didn't have any real ambition beyond surviving the hell that her parents had put her through ever since she was a child. Her father was abusive and her mother chose to ignore it, deciding that drinking herself into a stupor was a far better use of her time rather than protecting her own daughter. When the opportunity presented itself to end the suffering, Bela seized it and her parents were gone, despite Bela not fully understanding the implications of the deal she made until much later. That was her first encounter with the world of the supernatural and it had piqued Bela's interest from then on.

She began researching not long after that, finding out everything she could about demons, ghosts and whatever else existed in her world. Bela soon discovered the lore about supernatural items: some of them were ancient and cursed, others were more recent but had incredible value. What better way to throw off the shackles of her oppression by doing something spontaneous and profitable like stealing -or acquiring as she liked to call it now- rare items that could earn her a tidy income as well as bringing out a more confident side.

After a few years of research and hands on experience, Bela had learned the tricks of the trade, becoming a master thief and con-artist. Charming her way into people's hearts then robbing them blind. Using her beauty and wit to fool people into trusting her. This was the person that she had become now. A façade yes, but it was something that Bela could hide behind without letting anyone know about the scared little girl who remained underneath.

Bidding farewell to the diplomat, Bela turned on her heel and headed off towards the vault, head held high, her hips sashaying just a little. She had to give off a certain allure after all to convince people of the alias she had undertaken for the job: incredibly flirtatious and a bit of a bad girl. Not a far stretch from her normal persona but Bela was pretending to be an American this time around.

In just a few short hours, Bela would be a few million dollars richer and back in her apartment in New York. Sipping the finest champagne to celebrate her victory. Forget about the deal hanging over her head and enjoy life to the fullest while she was still around to live it. Yes, it was definitely going to be a good couple of days for her when she returned home. Maybe she could share it with someone else, find a handsome stranger in a cocktail bar then take him home and show him a good time. Kick him out the next day and promise to call but never actually go through with it. That was how Bela lived and she wasn't going to change it.

Living like that forced away any negative thoughts or feelings of emptiness. It helped Bela to forget about her anxiety, the fear she felt about dying within a few months.

No. That simply wouldn't do.

Life was for living with no regrets.

It was the motto that Bela had stuck to for quite some time.

CHARACTER
Name: Godot (Diego Armando)
Canon: Ace Attorney
Timeline: Post-canon
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Godot is most easily described as a man of contradictions; both fiery in personality and temper yet cool in presentation and reception, he is simultaneously dedicated and laid back, serious and wry. It can be a bit much to take in at once, and he is described variably as a 'hot shot,' a 'mysterious man,' or just plain 'smug.' Each contains varying levels of truth, and he denies none of them. On first impression, Godot is a charming, suave, slightly sarcastic man. He exudes confidence and competence, and seems as comfortable with himself as is humanly possible; anyone who talks to him for any length of time, however, will find him not only snarky and idly self-deprecating but focused, dedicated--and possessed of a strange and unrelenting intensity. Despite his nonchalance when presented with difficulty, Godot is an obsessive, a man with a spark in his mind and a fire in his heart--a fire that has been dampened with 'age' and smothered by time, but a fire that smoulders deeply nonetheless, and his tired acceptance of his pending death has done only so much towards disguising it.

Death is a recurring theme for Godot; as a lawyer, of course, it is inevitable that death should enter the picture, but then a suspect witness slipped poison into his cup of coffee without his knowledge, and... well. He drank it. The damage to his body and central nervous system was devastating, and though they were eventually able to "bring him back from the dead," he was permanently altered by its effect. He lay in a coma for five long years. When he woke, he learned that Mia, the woman he loved, had been brutally murdered one year ago--and he himself would not live long without constant medical maintenance and supervision. His vision was completely ruined; the combination of poison and oxygen deprivation to the brain had left his optic nerves and visual cortex heavily afflicted. The visor he wears corrects this for the most part, although the colour red renders as white. Still, without it, he is completely blind.

Godot's sanity has been questioned more than once, and it's very possible that the poison, coma, and time in between affected his brain in more ways than one. Emotionally, Godot is not exactly volatile--in fact, with very few exceptions, Godot seems to have very few strong feelings at all; perhaps this is why he is so unflappable, so fearless, and--ultimately--so unmoved by the things that shock and touch the people around him. According to him, such things have been seared out of him by the depths and fires of hell or have atrophied during his five long years in a coma, and he makes no claim to great emotional capacity; in fact, it's quite the opposite--in canon, Godot has occasionally made claims of being unable to feel at all. This is hyperbole, however--Godot is demonstrably capable of both anger and love. His anger is easier for him to face: it burns, low and hot and bitter, and he can seethe with it... or, without warning, manifest a rage so violent, sudden, and rare that its outburst can silence an entire courtroom.

Re: Godot || Ace Attorney || Reserve

[personal profile] abittertruth 2013-04-27 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
His affections, while seemingly casual or careless (I'll be honest, he can also come off as a bit misogynistic) disguise a love so deep as to have consumed his guilt, his anger, his life... and his regrets.

Threaded throughout all of this is a strange sort of self-awareness, an almost unsettlingly blase attitude towards death and life; he is familiar with the threads of fate and fortune, and speaks of them as one might an old friend... or an old foe. He doesn't seem terribly put out by his death or the tragedy of his life, but upon closer inspection, there will always be a thread of bitterness running through the length of his narrative--like the coffee he so loves, it is bitter and black.

The hell he speaks of having endured--while largely metaphorical--is nevertheless real enough, and is yet fuel for the fire that still burns untapped in his heart. At this point, though, he is simply waiting--his health is always a matter of tricky balance, pain takes its toll, and exhaustion drains a great deal of energy from his body. At 34, Godot is now waiting, more or less, to pass on and rejoin his love--Mia, who he failed; Mia, who he respects more than possibly even himself--in the afterlife.

Perhaps Ruby City will bring back the spark of life that he's been waiting for--poor substitute for the light of love, perhaps, but life, as they say, goes on.

And Godot has never been much of a quitter.

First Person: [Godot is positioned with his jaw resting on one fist, 'regarding' the screen seriously through the red lights of his visor. Once he's sure it's on, he removes his chin from his hand and sits back.]

I've been watching this whatever it is to find out what's going on around here, but it looks like no one's got the answer--just a lot of words, tossed around carelessly to hide your ignorance. The scent of desperation is so strong that I can smell it from here--sharp and bitter, like the blackest dregs at the bottom of a cup of coffee.

So there is no answer. Fine!

When there's salt in your cup... you drink it down fast straight to the last drop--no matter how hot it may be!

[If you kept up this far, the next bit is going to sound like a nonsequiter--and maybe it is.]

I've just got one question:

What's the nearest good hospital?

Third Person: Logically, Godot knew that if he were a sane man, he should have been relieved to be spared the icy grip of death.

But Godot was not a sane man. Patience was its own reward, but perdition had only left him wanting. The endless white tile of the ceiling and the steady beep of the ECG were the soul of tedium; the grit-laced aftertaste of loneliness left him tired. He was old. Worn out. The hollow emptiness that echoed inside him... the betrayal of his due... the burden of truth--his truth, the real truth... no. He was not sane. Not by a long shot.

He resented it. He felt cheated, bitter--a bitterness deeper than that harsh black brew--and his anger burned hot, searing what was left of his soul like the very flames of hell. This--the lifting of his sentence--was anything but a reprieve. This was no blessing. Death. A finish. At this point in his life, it was all he'd wanted, and he'd waited for it; just making it through the day was that day's goal, each day its own mundane ordeal. Enduring it was a long, tiring process, and he knew the next step--a step increasingly overdue--was death.

Mia. Death would be a relief. A release--into her arms, from the increasing pain and weariness of living. Living on. He didn't know if she was waiting for him, but he was waiting for her. His guilt, his anger, his contempt and all the blame he carried... this dead, shambling husk would be shed, and whatever happened next would happen as it did. The world after death would, if nothing else, have her there. But it wasn't his guilt he wanted to escape. His guilt would come with him, he knew--his purgatory and perdition, all of it. As it should be.

The burdens he carried he had brought on himself.

So he'd waited. And then, finally, it was his turn to go. They'd come to inform him of his fate the night before, as the law dictated; his surviving family (ha...!) would be told after the fact. The news was almost a relief. Was a relief. At last the waiting was over. He hadn't wanted to rush, eagerly, into the arms of death, but neither would he take his own life to get there. He knew better--it wasn't what she would have wanted, and death, for him--for everyone--must come naturally, or as naturally as a death like his could be. Should come naturally. He'd been patient. Waiting.

For her.

His fists clenched. The ill-kept machinery of his creaking body wearing down or the long drop and a short stop--either one would have been fine with him. But this... he grit his teeth, grinding them against the rising sense of having been cheated of what was rightfully his.

...rightfully his...?

The emotion drained out of him--slowly at first, then all at once the pot of stale brew was chugged down cold, extinguishing the inferno and reducing it to mere smouldering embers. He had no right to that--to lay claim to that kind of relief. Maybe living was his punishment--keep going, that was what he had been told to do. Keep going, just a little longer, a little longer...

He sighed, removing his visor in order to rub the bridge of his nose, feeling the deep ridge of the scar that ran across it.

Mia...

Colias Palaeno | Ace Attorney | Reserved | 2/3

[personal profile] ambassadorable 2013-04-27 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Colias has a sunny disposition, and he is outgoing, earnest, and honest to a fault. Even when it's not in his own best interest, he feels driven to tell the truth, as he does during Edgeworth's investigation, though not everything he admits puts his embassy and his staff in the best light. He strives to be helpful, whenever he can. He takes his job as ambassador very seriously, and he sees himself as a goodwill messenger representing his beloved homeland. Though he is a patriot, he's very much against isolationism or jingoism of any kind. He's in favor of celebrating differences while focusing on similarities. He believes one should always maintain free and open relationships with other countries. After all, there's a great deal to be learned from them.

Colias is, in many ways, well-suited to be a diplomat. He's polite and likes people, is enthusiastic and friendly. He takes quickly to Edgeworth, Gumshoe, and Kay, and by the end of the game is fond of all of them and doesn't hesitate to show it. He loves his country and does everything he can, within reason, to promote it. He has made a study of tourism, and he takes it very seriously, collecting souvenirs from all over. He's quick to distribute coupons for travel and various goods, to encourage people to visit and appreciate his homeland. He might be a little too fond of coupons, and one might say he can go overboard when distributing them. He has a generous heart, and he's eager to give. Sometimes, instead of coupons, he gives gifts outright. He's eager to extend his generosity to Miles Edgeworth after all the help he gave the embassy in solving the murder that took place there, but he doesn't feel so much beholden to him as admiring and pleased to know him.

On the negative side, Colias does have a huge problem with organization, and he can be quite forgetful and easily distracted. A little on the clumsy side, he has been known to spill his share of Babahlese ink.

Colias has a forgiving nature, which is not a negative trait in and of itself, but he can be blind and naive where the people he associates with are concerned. He's willing to make excuses for others and give them the benefit of the doubt. He tends to be drawn to people with strong personalities, and he can become dependent on them; he is vulnerable to being manipulated by someone controlling or demanding. This is clearly illustrated by his relationship with his secretary Manny Coachen, who was, behind his back, one of the key members of an international smuggling ring. In many ways, Manny ran the embassy in truth, as he could do virtually whatever he wanted, without having to consider Colias. For all the time Manny worked for him, Colias believed Manny was respectable and was acting in the best interests of the embassy and Babahl.

Though Colias has his failings, he is not an incompetent diplomat. He rose through the ranks to gain his current position because of his way with people and his creative and dedicated approach to diplomacy. He may have been deceived, but he is not a pushover. When the time comes, he's willing to stand up to his fellow ambassador, Quercus Alba, and do what he can to assist Edgeworth's investigation. He buys time for Edgeworth, and without his assistance, the investigation would not have been a success. Once he realizes that something dishonest is afoot, he does his best to correct it. He has learned, too, from his experience with Manny, and he's not likely to be as blindly trusting as he was in the past. He's a little older and a little wiser.

He does have a slight mischievous side. When disposing of the fake version of Cohdophia's famous Primidux statue, he sells it to the rather grating art dealer Zinc Lablanc. In a move unlike his usual honesty, he rather tellingly doesn't mention that the statue is a fake. Of course, he sold it for a greatly discounted price, so he considers that no harm was done.

Colias loves music and the arts. He never misses a chance to attend or sponsor a cultural event, and he has a great deal of respect for actors, artists, musicians and writers. He hopes that now the Theatrum Neutralis can serve as a venue for all kinds of performers.

A gentle man, he's saddened that so much suffering came about because of events that took place at his beloved embassy. He is determined to run the embassy with integrity from now on and leave those awful events in the past.

First Person:

Ah--! A communications device?

[Colias is examining the rather handsome pocket watch after being informed by a poster that it's not a watch at all, but something else altogether. How clever! He's never seen anything like it. A smile lights up his face. This warrants further investigation. It's enough to distract him from his current predicament, if only temporarily. If there's one thing he's interested in (though there are many), it's new products. He fiddles with the controls and makes an attempt to send a message.]

How fascinating! Am I to understand this is a communicator? If anyone is listening, I am Colias Palaeno, Cohdopia's Ambassador to the United States.

Are there any other Cohdopians here? [As their ambassador, he should help any fellow citizens, if they're here.] If there is anything I can do to assist you, please contact me at once.

[Oh, that's right, he's the one in trouble here. He should be in the embassy, not in a completely unfamiliar train station. Obviously, he has been kidnapped. He would say this could be an international incident if not for the utter strangeness of it.]

Thanks to the very helpful posters, I'm aware of where I am, but if I could trouble someone to provide me with further information? Thank you very much.

Third Person:

Yes, it was very clear to him now what Ruby City needed, the one thing it didn't have: tourism. How could he not have realized it sooner? It was a clear lack. Now, one might have said that since no one came to Ruby City except those who had been abducted and since there was no currency, there was little point in creating tourism, but such a person would simply be displaying an improper understanding of the concept of tourism. Tourism wasn't only for visitors from foreign climes, and it wasn't only about money. It was about goodwill, happiness, people enjoying themselves. What was wrong with that? In spite of the circumstances, feeling a little more at home and a little happier in Ruby City could only benefit everyone.

Colias had learned a great deal about tourism in his tireless efforts to promote first Babahl, and now Cohdopia. There were many things one needed, but there were three key components. First: attractions. Second: merchandise. Third: advertising for the first two components. With only the resources already in place, he already had the means to create all three. Yes, it would take work, but he was willing to work. It was for a good cause.

With that in mind, Colias was sitting down at his desk and had begun to write a list of ideas. So far, it read thus:

Attractions?
Theatre (performances)
Guided tours
Souvenirs: model clock towers
t-shirts (possibly humorous)
brainstorm slogans
toy monsters

He tapped his pen on the desk, reading over what he'd written. So far, it was a promising list, and he felt hopeful about it, but he was sure there was yet much to be added to it. He would need help, too, the ideas and industry of other people. There was a great deal to be done, but he had faith that with hard work, he would succeed. Someday, perhaps not too far in the future, Ruby City would have its own tourism board.

Colias smiled.

What I got is all derived from canon (visible in the wiki), so would it count if I just delete it entirely? That was the original intention; I was simply advised against removing it. I honestly have no objections to removing it, it was just part of her story as King Arthur.

The first person needs to be written in present, and the third person in past tense, right?

I FEEL BAD BECAUSE I KEEP COMMENTING but the intent of it is to explain the fact that in canon she doesn't believe herself human at all, honestly. If I need to provide the parts of the wiki/canon that state that I'll be glad to do the ground work for it but I'm also, as I said, not offended to have to just write it out. It's just simply canon that she considers herself... outside of that boundary of humanity, I guess is the best way to say it? It's a little difficult to phrase in anything shorter. The gender/humanity variance is a trope shared between this saber (Fate/Zero; Fate/Stay Night), Nero!Saber (Fate/Extra), and Arturia's paternal son (to whom she is the literal father), Mordred (who is a part of the latest released series that is still being translated, Apocrypha, and actually has the most controversial of the gender-related views in the series).

I really don't want it to cause any trouble so I really am okay with writing it out but I do want you to be aware that there is canon fact backing these claims and a friend considering Nero!Saber is a little worried about things regarding this situation because of it. I am very aware that it is a delicate situation for many reasons (beyond gender; the concept of being above humanity is a controversial one in itself), but other than writing it out and disregarding it, I don't know how to fix it, as denying it would be denying canon information.

I definitely don't want to make this any more difficult and wouldn't be pushing the issue if, from canon information/quotes and the influence of much of the fandom via tumblr, Arturia didn't believe herself to be disconnected from humanity and gender. It definitely plays a bigger role in Fate/Zero than it does in Fate/Stay Night, but most of the information regarding this issue comes from /Stay Night and the /Stay Night retelling of Arturia's history as King Arthur. And, as I said, it's a trope shared among the three female-bodied Sabers (there being only two male-bodied ones but Apocrypha!Saber/Mordred believes themselve to be male) and thus cannot easily be avoided between any of them, else I probably never would have mentioned it.
