A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

CHARACTER
Name: Severus Snape
Canon: Harry Potter
Timeline: After the events of Half-Blood Prince.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A!

Personality: As Head of Slytherin House, it’s only fitting that Severus possesses a great deal of what Salazar Slytherin found to be admirable qualities in a wizard. As those belonging to Slytherin are known to be, he is a man of ambition as well as cunning, finding the mind to be a far more useful weapon to him than any wand could be on its own. Recognized as an exceptional wizard even during his school years, he is both intelligent and well-studied, though that is where praise of his character usually ends. He is a talented liar with a cutting, if acidic, turn-of-phrase as well as a skilled occulemens, abilities that complement each other rather well and are quite desirable in a double agent, put to good use in keeping his true thoughts and motivations well-guarded from those who might attempt to pry. Stubborn to a fault, he is known for being incredibly ornery and determinedly caustic. While his temper is explosive when provoked, the rest of the time he is almost infuriatingly calm and soft-spoken.

Severus was an awkward child with poor social skills, something he never quite managed to grow out of. His home life was quite difficult, though he has done his best to keep the details from being made public. His parents were constantly at odds with each other, with his father being particularly abusive – though Snape’s memories only admit to there being emotional and verbal abuse, it’s implied that his father may have been violent, as well. This, along with a great deal of neglect, did much to shape his bitter disposition. His dislike for Muggles likely stems from his disdain of his father, though that same hatred was not enough to keep Severus from adopting similar behavior as he grew older. Unfortunately, children who are bullied and humiliated often learn to do the same to others, which is certainly true in Snape’s case, as can be confirmed by many of his old schoolmates or current students. He is bitter, misanthropic, and often solitary, having never quite managed to get a firm grasp on social graces. He is incredibly biased towards his own house, students and other individuals who have won his favor. Even on his best days, he is frequently condescending and often openly cruel, making cutting remarks without a thought towards filtering them, even when (or especially when) students are involved.

As mentioned before, Severus is lauded for being a brilliant wizard with an incredible aptitude for academics. He excelled during his school years and was made a member of the Slug Club, though his fascination with the dark arts made Slughorn decide that Snape would never amount to much of anything despite his great potential. He is both resourceful and thorough, and as a student, he was seen to come up with a number of innovations and improvements to potion recipes, as well as other spells, that were able to produce results that actually surpassed those achieved by students who had followed the book directly. He also invented several spells, some of which became popular upon discovery, such as Levicorpus, which was ironically used against him, triggering events that he cites as his worst memory. Muffliato, the Langlock Curse and Sectumsempra were also among his creations, the latter being particularly dangerous and meant very clearly for enemies.

He had an early fascination with the dark arts that only persisted as he grew older, and even when he promised Dumbledore his loyalty and agreed to teach at Hogwarts, Dumbledore refused him the Defense Against the Dark Arts position, feeling that such close proximity to dark magic would be too much temptation for Severus to resist. However, since Snape’s skill with both devising and brewing potions was more or less unparalleled, Potions Master was a rather fitting occupation for him. As a teacher, he is known for being a ruthless disciplinarian and has little patience for foolishness or students who waste his time. Despite his harsh methods, he is considered to be a strong educator and is well-respected among the Hogwarts staff, several of whom actually consider him a friend as well as colleague, news that would be sure to shock several of his long-suffering students.

Despite having a keen and discerning mind, Snape has been accused of putting it to the task and arriving at the completely wrong conclusion on more than one occasion. Despite his intellect, he allows his personal bias to interfere with his judgment, allowing himself to make snap-decisions based solely on what he is convinced must be the truth. Of course, since he feels a certain way, it must be so – this most often comes into play concerning James Potter and Sirius Black. While not terribly fond of Remus Lupin, Severus does find him to be the least offensive of the Marauders and has a certain (miniscule) degree of professional respect for him. Severus is quick to place blame when someone he dislikes is involved, rather than taking the time to more closely examine the evidence at hand. He is extremely prone to jealousy, shown in the latter years of his rivalry with James Potter, and can hold a grudge for years on end, clinging to his resentment as though he would be lost should it ever escape him. He is a proud creature, and once his pride has been injured, he will not forgive it easily, if at all.

Over time, Severus has come to accept that life is full of disappointments. He is not a believer in happy endings or coddling and justifies his harsh treatment of his students as a way of preparing them for the outside world. For as bitter and cruel as he can be, he is not, at his core, a bad person. Though he made mistakes when he was younger, he has long since accepted responsibility for his past deeds and come to understand that each and every action has its consequence. Though he has aimed to redeem himself for years, he works towards it quietly, requiring no one’s approval but his own – and, of course, Dumbledore’s. Snape’s actions during the second wizarding war were not seen by many, and those who did witness his deeds labeled him a villain, though each and every move was designed to bring Voldemort and his Death Eaters one step closer to their downfall. Though he is a talented liar, Severus is a thorough man who keeps his promises, and his loyalty, when truly given, is unwavering, as seen when one considers his relationship with Albus Dumbledore. He understand that sometimes, horrible things must be done out of necessity. Sacrifices must be made, and pain must be brought forth in order to serve the greater good. It’s an unpleasant fact of life, but one that he accepts, and he will go to whatever lengths he must in order to complete the task before him.

First Person: [Snape’s voice cuts sharply over the network, clearly unimpressed with his current situation. A watch with buttons? Did it even properly tell the time? Clearly, this was some Muggle foolishness – despite the fact that everything else about his surroundings suggested magic. Magic he had never seen before now, but magic all the same.]

While these devices may be considered a more efficient means of communication than most magic, and nowhere near as messy as firetalking has the potential to be, there are inherent flaws in their design. They are far too small, for one, and lend themselves to being easily misplaced.

That said, I wish to know more of the nature of this place. As kidnappings go, I suppose this one could be considered civil, but that doesn’t make it anything less of a violation. Any information that others here might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

[Though really, from the tone of his voice, it doesn’t sound like he appreciates much of anything.]

Third Person: It was as though some higher power had suddenly decided that his life did not have enough irksome interruptions forcing themselves on him already. Travel by train was hardly foreign, but in general, he tended to remember actually boarding rather than simply waking up to find himself already in-transit. That had been unsettling enough, until the train had pulled into the station and the fog had cleared, revealing a city both strange and unfamiliar.

He was glad to find that his wand had remained on his person, and promptly armed himself with it as he ventured forth from the platform. The station itself was quiet, almost eerily so, as though it didn’t see many travelers. The brochures that were on display caught his eye as he passed, their covers bright red and demanding of attention, and he paused long enough to help himself to one, gingerly unfolding it and skimming through the information provided. His upper lip curled into an unpleasant sneer as he read.

Welcome to Ruby City. He quickly read through what followed. What unabashed, idiotic drivel. Even the worst of his students could have concocted a better tale; they were all better liars than they were potion-makers, anyway. Clearly, whatever magic or mischief was afoot here, there were answers to be had, and he would seek them out. Severus Snape was not a man who suffered any brand of foolishness gladly, nor was he a man who enjoyed being left in the dark.

It was only then that an unfamiliar weight in his right pocket caught his attention. Upon investigating, he produced a small, brightly silver-plated pocket-watch, turning it over in his gaunt hand as he examined it. Curious, but worth further investigation – much like everything else in this place, he imagined.

It was time to ask questions and hope that there was someone available with enough intelligence to provide him with acceptable answers.

CHARACTER
Name: Nina Fortner/Anna Liebert
Canon: Monster
Timeline: Post-Volume 4: Ayse's Friend/Episode 17: Reunion. Upon thwarting the attempted destruction of the Turkish Quarter in Frantfurt, Nina has split from Tenma and Dieter and is doing her best to find Johan with the intention of shooting him again, ending this once and for all. Nina's native tongue is German, the whole series is spoken in German (even though it's Japanese/English respectively for the viewer). How does translation work in the city?

If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

History: http://obluda.wikia.com/wiki/Nina_Fortner

Personality: Nina Fortner - also known as Anna Liebert - is very much a study in contradictions. A law student at the University of Heidalburg in Germany, Nina is a young, intelligent, kind, gentle and generally unassuming young woman. She is popular and good at akido which she practices regularly with a club of her peers. She is bright and sunny but her life is not perfect. In act far from it.

With memories that only go back as far as her tenth birthday, Nina's past is a mystery to her. Although there are some sparks of recollection, her life has been turned upside down and parts of her that she never even knew about have been put on display for the world to see - although they don't realize that they're seeing it.

Where once Nina had a very clear sense of right and wrong, she has been pulled into a life that she can only remember small parts of, that has caused her to stray from the path that she was on - the life with her friends and her family and what she knew - and instead turned her to a much more gray area where things are not what they seem, she is laden with a responsiblity to fix what is wrong. Nina's belief that killing her twin brother - the evil Johan Liebert - is something she must do (before Dr. Tenma does it) has has changed her.

Her brother is a monster, a cold calculating killer who cares little for the ants that get in the way. As his twin, Nina (or Anna) fears that she may have a Monster inside her as her brother does. She has no doubt that it will destroy her and perhaps the only way to end it is to do just that: Put an end to her brother's reign of terror once and for all. And the lengths she's willing to go to to do so have not yet been fully seen...

Re: Nina Fortner/Anna Liebert

[personal profile] aim4thehead 2013-01-22 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Nina is a person who was pulled from a happy life - the only one that she really knew, back into a void that she had long since forgotten. Much of the trauma goes back to how she and her twin were born - the products of a eugenics experiment before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Her brother was bred to be the next Hitler after they were placed into separate orphanages. But it was Nina - or Anna as she was called at that point - who finally stopped him, shooting him in the head, right between the eyes, after she learned that he had been killing their foster parents.

The memories were either suppressed or Nina herself surpressed them, but it was she who failed to rid the world of the monster the first time, meaning that it has to be her who does it again. Her job. Her responsibility. Admittedly she doesn't actually remember any of this, but she has this feeling...

In order to carry out this job, she will stoop to many things. Nina has impersonated a prostitute to find a mob boss, she has learned to fire a gun, she made friends with a former gun for hire. The death of the Fortners - her foster parents - set her on this path and she has gathered many skills along the way.

Nina knows how to cook, having learned Italian food from the former hitman (who did not teach her to shoot). She likes children and has managed to keep a good portion of her good nature despite the evil she's become attached to. She wants to make the world a better place. It's one reason she is learning the law. She likes to have fun, is good with research and facts, and is not above helping someone in need. She is intelligent. And at this point, she will do whatever it takes to bring down her brother.

First Person:
[The face of a young woman flashes on the screen. She seems confused and is pressing buttons.]

What the...

[Her eyes narrow]

A watch isn't supposed to do this. Is this some kind of new setting?

First the train - this isn't Nice - and now this? Where is this place? I know that I got on the right train... it shouldn't have been this short a trip to get from Frankfurt.

[The picture drops from her face as her arm falls back to her side and she approaches the information booth, trying to get someone to talk to her. The blue dufflebag whose strap is hanging from her shoulder is visible.]

Excuse me? I'm sorry, where is this? My ticket was for Nice. Is this a layover? They didn't say anything about changing when I boarded in Frankfurt.

[She then realizes no one is in the booth.]

What's going on?

[She sounds confused and preturbed.]

CHARACTER
Name: Sherlock Holmes
Canon: Guy Ritchie Movieverse
Timeline: Beginning of Game of Shadows, just after he’s told Watson about Moriarty
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:
Sherlock Holmes is an eccentric genius and consulting detective, oftentimes his work is private cases but he also works alongside Scotland Yard. His eccentricism lies in a number of places--including his use of drugs, his drinking things like formaldehyde or stuff for eye surgery, his manner of dress (which is often a hodge-podge of clothing) and his secluding himself away for months at a time. He also has a tendency to use a number of outrageous disguises to conceal himself for cases, including false noses, beards and even dressing as a woman.

His genius lies in his talent for observation; he can see the smallest details, from a speck of ink on a person’s ear to the smell of a certain type of glaze on bread. He then takes these minute details--which he believes more important than the big picture--to form assumptions about people or the actions they’ve taken. He’s exceptionally good at it and he’s dedicated a number of years of his life to perfecting it.

This is for a number of reasons. Firstly, he gets quite the kick out of it. He finds it incredibly entertaining. Boredom does not suit him at all. In the first movie, after his case was finished he’d spent three months locked in a room in his house and eventually ended up shooting holes in the wall because he couldn’t find anything else to do with his time. Boredom also leads him to ingesting nothing but tobacco, coffee and coca leaves (the plant cocaine is made from).

He also strives for a challenge and going mind to mind with other brilliant people. People like Moriarty, who might be evil and Sherlock might detest what he does, but he also has the capacity to respect and admire the skill that had been required to nearly start a world war. Intelligent people draw his interest because they function on the same level mentally as he does. He tends to insult people he thinks are ridiculously less intelligent, Lestrade for example but it is typically all in good fun. It is not meant to be scathing or hurtful. Watson even claims that Irene Adler is the only woman he likes because she’s the only one that’s ever outsmarted him.

For all his genius, or maybe because of it, Sherlock is difficult for most people to get along with because he’s rather full of himself and cares very little for what other people think of him. There are only a handful of people that he would ever admit caring for (and even then, it would never be out loud) and getting him to show it would be nigh impossible. His care for people is shown in crazy, roundabout ways like getting Watson into a fight on accident the night before his wedding. Normally, he wouldn’t bother himself with things like stag parties for people and he’d actually forgotten, but he’d done his best to make a night of it anyway.

[personal profile] embrace_me 2013-01-22 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
His greatest and dearest companion is Dr. John Watson. The man had begun as simply his roommate and quickly morphed into someone that Sherlock has difficulty managing without. He sees the other man as intelligent and has gone so far as to begin to teach him how to observe things the way he does. He has a great deal of respect for him and Watson is one of the few people who has the capacity to deal with him for any length of time. However, Sherlock rarely tells him the extent of his plans. This may be to keep Watson from any more danger and to keep him out of as much trouble as possible.

He is incredibly possessive of the doctor as well and expresses a large amount of disdain for Mary Morstan, Watson’s new fiance. He spent weeks just avoiding meeting her and when they did get married, Sherlock appears rather heartbroken. He knows that she will take Watson’s time away from him and he’s grown rather fond of his company. Sherlock likes to have him around on cases and she is making Watson retire from the detective business. He is often simply fake polite around her and the doctor is forever telling him to behave himself. In order to gain him back, Sherlock tries rather unhanded methods like leaving the stove on or leaving his revolver where he knows Watson will see it or going where he knows he’ll get in trouble.

The law is not entirely black and white for him. He’ll break and enter if he feels it is necessary to catch the culprit of his case or to find clues. It doesn’t bother him to get into any sort of trouble and even when he ends up getting himself and Watson thrown in jail he doesn’t show remorse for it. To Sherlock, it’s just a thing that happens and it comes with the job. He seems to get himself in this sort of trouble rather often as the regulars in the holding yard spoke to him by name and requested he provide jokes to them.

Sherlock has a fondness for learning and technology. He remarks with amazement about a bridge being built and again at the machine that Blackwell built using radio waves. It excites him because it gives him something else to fill his mind with and in turn, likely gives him more ideas of his own to try out. He is quite the tinkerer, constantly fiddling with things like a gun silencer and creating his own medications. He can also be innovative during fights, using things as weapons without knowing what it does but trying it out anyway.

There are things he is not interested in and those often fall by the wayside. He tends to know a lot about certain subjects, like chemistry and almost nothing about others, like art. He is also rather skeptical when it comes to supernatural things and religious beings. He prefers to work in the literal and tangible but he has gone out on a limb with Lord Blackwell because he hadn’t wanted to discount anything. This lead him to the answer he was looking for.

First Person:
There is a link here!

Third Person:

This was clearly a dream or some odd hallucination as a result of taking--what was that again? Some bizarre concoction of coffee and something Watson left in his office when he abandoned Sherlock. Something he wasn’t meant to imbibe obviously, given his current state. This train felt a little too real to be simply a dream though he didn’t have the faintest idea how he would have gotten here. This wasn’t like any train that he knew.

He was tempted to stay--it needed to return to its origin at some point, did it not?--but no, he needed to disembark, for what purpose he couldn’t say in the slightest, but he was meant to be here. If this was a dream, he would simply let it play out. Yes, that was it exactly. He needed to let it work itself out. As soon as he stepped from the train, he was nearly jolted with the realization that this was not as much of a dream as he believed. There was a realness to it that dreams didn’t hold, a physicality that was impossible in the unconscious mind and not to mention, this wasn’t skipping around at all like his dreams normally would.

As he stood on the platform, he stuffed his hands in his pockets and came out with a small, round watch. One that decidedly wasn’t his or borrowed from Watson. Sherlock looked up again to scan the area, his eyes flitted over every last detail of where he was standing and his attention caught on one of the posters on the wall.

“This is meant to allow communication with others? It hasn’t any wires attached,” What a grand notion that was--if it were true. He didn’t know of any type of communication that could possibly be housed within something so small as a watch.

He flipped it open curiously and eyed what was within, pushing the buttons along the side at random to test just what reaction he received from the watch.

{[Canon] The Doctor (10th Regeneration) || Doctor Who || No Reserve || 2 of 2 }

[personal profile] keepcalmandrun 2013-01-23 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
This regeneration of the Doctor has a very positive outward attitude. He is, for all appearances, cheerful, outgoing, optimistic and energetic. He is constantly dashing too and fro with excited explanations and often a bit too exuberant about dangerous situations as long as they are 'new'. He tends to talk fast as well, resulting in him ranting about silly things, and even things that most people are oblivious of, because, well he’s a Time Lord and he has seen many a strange things.

He is outgoing and dwells on the past far less than his previous regeneration, often quickly changing the subject or taking only a brief moment to reflect on his own past. He is positive, even in awkward or dangerous situations, wearing a smile on his face most of the time. It’s when he doesn’t have a smile that is when you should really worry. He sees potential in any sort of organism, be it human, an alien or a creature. The Doctor believes they are unique in their own right, and are fascinating. Being the last of his own kind, he doesn’t talk about his past all too much. The only time he will tell someone about his past is when he has grown to get to know a person very well, like his companions Rose, Donna, Captain Jack, and Martha.

The Doctor is a passionate individual, and when he gets angry or upset, he will not hesitate to throw himself into the fray and sacrifice himself for others he cares for, even if he is the last of his own kind. His whole demeanor changes into one that is cold and ruthless. It’s a silent anger that would shake the very soul of anyone who witnesses it. When he gets this angry, it is as if he is a different man. He is willing to make compromises and offer his enemies a chance to take back their decisions and threats. But when they push his patience, the Doctor is ruthless and unforgiving, even wiping out an entire species.

Whenever he loses someone he dearly cares about, or fails in a mission, he does not take it lightly. It is clear the Doctor is devastated each time someone else is ripped away from him. At several points in this regeneration's life, he attempts to travel without a companion, hoping that by being alone he will not get hurt further with another loss. But The Doctor needs people. Above everything, he needs people. He needs a distraction from the memories that haunt him in his own silence. The guilt and time that weighs on his mind. For this he needs the companions he gathers along his travels. He needs someone to make him more human, to tell him when to stop and to keep him from hardening to the Universe.

When confronting an enemy, he rarely ever takes up a weapon. He believes in the power of words and conversation to resolve things. Most of the time, the Doctor will run. This way, it keeps himself and his enemy alive. If his enemy can’t find him, then neither of them will die! Simple as that. But that won’t stop the Doctor from trying to stop his enemy. He usually takes a less violent method when it comes to taking down his enemies, but if pushed too far, he will take up a weapon, as a last resort.

The Doctor is always fascinated by new things, even if they are dangerous looking. He won’t hesitate to go up to a new object or being, and inspect it, or even touch it, if he dares to.

He doesn't like to trouble his companions, keeping a positive outlook and a smile for as long as possible, even in grim situations. He is always alright, in his words. Even when he clearly isn't. Preferring to press on and swallow down the pain and sorrow around him and move forward. He is always running. Not just from places or people, but from himself and his past. Terrified that if he stops everything will come crashing down on him and drown him.

First Person:
[The Doctor does not look pleased in the slightest. His usual cheerful smile replaced by a far more somber expression, and the dark circles present beneath his eyes tell of the strain the recent changes are putting on him.]

This city- The entire city is a churning mass of time and space anomalies. Universes crashing together and colliding. People who shouldn't be alive, people who should never have been here, coming and going, seeing things they should never have encountered. Traces of so many particles in the air, on the people, the technologies. All this movement through time and space and parallel universes and its effects are becoming clearer to me. The Tardis could feel it, brought me here for a reason. I don't know what that reason is yet. But I am going to find out.

In past trips I let it slide. I continued onward, because I did not, do not, fully understand what was happening. I should have paid closer attention to the signs.

[He frowns and shakes his head, running fingers through his hair until it stands on end]

Something is coming. Something drawn to this place like a moth to a flame. Places like this do not exist with out consequences. Things out there are noticing you. Dangerous things. Things you can only imagine in your deepest darkest nightmares.

[His expression turns darker, gaze sharp and focused as he addresses the people he believes to be behind the growing rifts in time around the city.]

I want a word with you, MDEA. We need to talk.

I don't know how you are doing it, I don't know why. But know this. You are altering the very course of time, and that comes with a price. A price you have not even begun to understand. I can not allow this to continue. This is your warning.

Third Person:
The sound could send certain people running. Some away. Some to. Always running. An awful lot of running. It was a sound that was known very well to anyone who had spent time in the presence of The Doctor. It was the sound of the Tardis.

The Blue Police Call Box faded in and out, the sound reverberating off the buildings around it. When the noise finally stopped, the door swung open, the doctor stepping out onto the busy street, both him and his little blue box unnoticed by those passing by. Taking a deep breath, he smiled, crossing his arms. "Ah Cardiff. 1837, still growing, flourishing. Look at all this hustle and bustle. Humans, going about their lives, working, building, living. So resourceful and determined. Love it. Love humans. You're all so brilliant."

"Ay, what you going on about this time, then?" Rose joked, pulling her jacket closer. It was nippy out and the snow on the ground was melting into her sneakers and he was going off on his human-race tangents again. Figures.

"Look around you, Rose! This is earth at it's finest. Creating new things, expanding, ever searching for that next thing." He grinned, that cheeky crooked grin, hands in his pockets as he turned to look at her. "Places to see, things to do. Allons-y, Rose Tyler. We don't want to miss it."

She gave him a dry expression before laughing lightly. There was something about The Doctor. You just couldn't help it. His enthusiasm was infectious. "Miss what, then, you daft man." She asked, pushing him before linking her arm in his, walking along beside him.

He simply grinned at her, watching the people in front of them, a single word for his reply.

"Life."

CHARACTER
Name: Graham Humbert / The Huntsman

Canon: Once Upon a Time

Timeline: His death.

Personality: Graham is, essentially, two people in one at this point in canon. He is the Huntsman, and he is the Sheriff, and both must be discussed separately to explain how I think they would meld into a joint personality had he been allowed to live.

Huntsman was at some point during his childhood abandoned by his parents in the forest, and ended up living with a wolf pack. This instilled in him a deep mistrust of humans, in spite of the fact that he still clearly makes use of and benefits from very human things such as clothes and weapons, not to mention the fact that he goes to human taverns and speaks –as well as reads and writes- perfect English (or whatever they speak in Fairytale Land).

He weeps at felling a stag to feed himself and his wolf friend, but shows no such remorse when he kills a man for disrespecting the wolf. In my opinion this hints at a great deal of bitterness, though I believe he would be reluctant to admit this seeing as he doesn’t want it to appear as if humans have anything that he wants. It also has to do with his personal code of honor, something that seems to be very central to how he lives his life and judges those around him.

Regina asks what sort of man weeps over a dead animal, and he answers “an honorable one”. Honor is integral to everything Huntsman does, and the man who disrespected his friend was deemed as not being an honorable one, and thus no tears needed to be shed over his death. A sacrifice is a sadness, but vindication is not.

He finds humans confusing, cruel and untrustworthy, but in spite of the lingering betrayal of his parents he is still able to recognize good when he sees it, even in a human, and that is why he chooses to sacrifice himself to save Snow. He might hope that his ruse with the stag’s heart will work, but he’s willing to face the consequences if it doesn’t, because it’s the right thing to do as he sees it. The honorable thing. Even when it means that the promised protection for all wolves will not be given, he chooses not to stray from his code.

As a consequence he loses his heart and his freedom, falling completely under Regina’s control. “Take him to my bedchamber” she says when the guards take the shocked Huntsman away after she ripped his heart out, and it’s not hard to guess what’s going to happen to him there. While we never see it, based on their later relationship in Storybrooke I argue that Huntsman was raped by the Evil Queen, and that it wasn’t a one time occurrence.

In spite of all this, and in spite of her holding his heart and this having a great deal of control over him as canon has shown, he still manages to stay defiant in spirit even if he doesn’t get much opportunity to be so in action, and when an opportunity does present itself he takes it, again risking his own life to get Charming away from the Evil Queen.

After the Queen curses everyone, he ends up being the town sheriff and goes by the name Graham. Since he can’t remember who he is he doesn’t share Huntsman’s distrust for humans, and he doesn’t think of himself as anything but one.

He is in a way more under Regina’s control in this world, because he has lost who he is and this cannot seek strength from the strong values that guided Huntsman. There is however still that streak of defiance and rebellion in him, for example he makes Emma his deputy in spite of Regina clearly being opposed to this. He also manages to end the sexual relationship he has with Regina.

He still has a deep connection with nature and with animals, volunteering at the town pet center and calling the forest “his world”.

Graham has more of a sense of humor than Huntsman, bitter snark being turned into more good natured sarcasm (and the occasional really bad joke). He is a kind man, though he feels distant from everyone around him, not able to truly connect due to his loss of identity and the fact that Regina still possesses his heart.

The strongest emotional connection he makes is with Emma, and as that bond grows he gradually starts remembering who he is again. When he finally does (right before his death) you can tell that it is an enormous relief for him to finally know who he is again, and in spite of the fact that so many of these memories must be very painful, he still smiles and thanks Emma.

Others he treats with kindness and respect, but there is no one that he is truly close to, and I don’t think anyone would really claim to know the sheriff, except perhaps for Regina, but her perception of him is rather formed by what she wants him to be.

I think Graham, had he lived, would have retained the appreciation for human nature and people’s capacity for good that he’s gotten during his time as the sheriff, his memories serving more as a foundation and an anchor for his sense of self than a guide for his personality. Huntsman was a lonely soul, and I think Graham sees that he can be an honorable man and still form bonds with other human beings.

He is in many ways a very sad man, and will have painful memories to work through, but I think he would still stand by his decisions and feel that he made the right choices, and this will help him get through what no doubt will be a very traumatic experience.

First Person: [ If this is what lies beyond the end of the proverbial tunnel, it must be said that he finds it a little anticlimactic. A train ride to yet another quiet little town, and that’s it? He supposes it’s a good thing he never was one for religion, or he’d be feeling really screwed over right now. Not that he’s an expert, but the afterlife ought to have a little more pathos to it, he feels. There is of course that quite frankly creepy feeling of being watched, but that doesn’t exactly make him feel more positive about this lonely version of the great beyond. Figures that he’d end up alone.

He reaches into his pocket and takes out the strange… watch-like thing that he found in it during the train ride. He’s been fiddling with it for a while and has discovered that there seems to be different modes of communication available, though it’s a mystery to him who he’s supposed to be communicating with. With a bit of a shrug he flips it open and manages to ge1t the setting to be video.
]

On the off chance that this thing actually does any good… is there anybody out there?

Third Person: It felt good to leave the city behind. He’d never felt quite at home in the confined spaces of human existence even before he got his memories back, but now he’d felt the call of the trees and the open sky more strongly with every passing night. Just like the Evil Queen’s palace, the City was a cage, and he could not abide those.

His strides were long and sure as he walked, steadily heading towards what appeared to be a distant forest. He could tell that it would take some time to get there, but he wasn’t bothered by that. He took a deep breath, enjoying the simple pleasure of movement. Of feeling yourself strong and full of life. This wasn’t death after all. He, somehow, was not dead. It was a mystery he intended to solve, but in order to do that he needed to get away from all those oppressing walls.

It wasn’t that he didn’t understand the need for protection. Wolves have dens too, as do many other living things. What baffled him was the fact that people let the walls creep into their minds as well. Had someone been present to express this opinion to he might have done so, whereupon said someone might have observed that he was hardly an innocent himself in this regard. How hard had he not worked on the wall he’d thrown up between himself and humanity?

As it was, he was left to his slight hypocrisy as his steps carried him ever further away from anyone able to engage him in conversation. He would come to miss it soon, the presence of other people, and then he would return. It had always been his way, and now he could admit it, too. It was no longer a shameful thing to him that part of him wished to be around human beings, that he needed them, because now another part of him found it completely natural. It was a conflict that paradoxically gave him some peace.

But in order to return, one must first leave, and so Graham kept walking away from the pocket of relative civilization in this strange little world he’d found himself in, thinking that it seemed as if he’d escaped one curse only to get caught in another. Some might say that at least he was alive, but it had never been his way to think like that. He was alive, but at what cost?

Sorry that it took me so long to get back to the revision, i hope this is satisfying :)

first person:

[She gets off the train and stands on the platform, unsure of where to go or what to do. Jade is utterly confused. First, why is she on a train when she is supposed to be on a ship that's physically impossible for her to leave? Second, if this is a dream bubble (and she can’t enter dream bubbles either) then why can’t she remember this place? It’s not from any of her memories and this doesn’t resemble any other dream bubble she has been in before.

She is contemplating her next move when she realizes there is a heavy weight in her pocket. She pulls out the pocket watch with no idea where it comes from as she has not owned such a watch before. Staring at it for a while before she opens it up and starts pressing random buttons, she manages to turn it on and decides to maybe try and communicate with someone, not realizing in fact that she's now speaking to the whole city.]

This city is certainly strange; this can’t be a dream bubble, right? This is no memory I can recall!

[She isn’t looking at the watch; more of the buildings around her.]

Sooooo, does anyone here have answers? Or can anyone at least tell me where I am?? It would be nice to know where this place is!

[She smiles at the watch.]

So, if anyone is out there, please reply asap!!

[The feed cuts off as Jade starts her own search for an answer now.]

Third Person

It has been one year since the journey across the golden yard began.

If she was being honest with herself, not a lot had happened in that one year. Not that she was surprised though. With her powers controlling the ship and the fact that the golden yard won’t let them enter dream bubbles, there wasn’t anything out there but the void when they slept. So, the ship was the only place for Jade.

There was nothing she could do but sit and wait the three years out.

Jade didn’t mind though, since she spent most of life alone on her isolated island. Being surrounded by people for the first time was a good feeling, and although she could count on the palm of her hand how many of them she could have an intelligent conversation with she really didn't mind. It’s a good feeling, having someone to play games or have a chat with. In some strange way, it was like having a normal life with no care in the world.

On the other hand though, her time on the ship made her miss the days of playing sburb with her friends. She missed the adventure and having an important role and something to actually do. She missed Dave and Rose, and even the trolls she hasn't been able to meet yet. She sometimes wondered what they are doing on the meteor, if they were thinking the same things she was. She wanted to meet her grandpa – the kid version of him, she wanted to meet him and finally get a chance to talk with him. She wanted to help them to fix their game and beat it, and maybe they can all finally have their happily ever after.

But the reality was that she must wait, like everyone else on the ship and on the meteor. In the meantime, she will spend her time playing games with John and listening to Davesprite’s jokes, helping out Nannasprite with baking, trying not to scare Jaspersprite too much and play with the consorts when she can.

Because it’s another two years before the real adventures begins.

CHARACTER:
Name: Archie Hopper
Canon: Once upon a Time
Timeline: The end of season 2 episode 10, "The Cricket Game" (after his "death" but before the twist at the end of the episode)
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:
Archie Hopper is, on the surface, a pretty composed middle aged man. Working as a therapist in Storybrook, his temprement is suited to that. It's assumed he has several clients at his practice, but his interactions as a threapist have only been shown with Henry and Regina, and during both sessions he's demonstrated patience and understanding of how to give professional suggestions to both of them.

He's very observant, as demonstrated when he pointed out that Henry was lying about being on a field trip, but his observations can cloud his judgment. He can be quick to act when someone is in danger ("That still small voice", when he goes into the mine to find Henry) which can lead to disregarding his own safety; which shows his compassion for others. This may be due to his past as Jiminy Cricket but this is just speculation on my part.

For his good qualities, he's still human and not above being manipulated. Regina Mills has shown herself able to manipulate him into acting in contrast to what he feels is better for Henry's therapy sessions, and in the same chord, to go against his conscience. If circumstances were met, he could be manipulated to a point to tune out his conscience, though I think there would be at least one (if not several) stop gaps before it got too far. (For example, he could be convinced to tell Henry to stop believing his ideas about the fairy tale land, but I can't see him being manipulated to do something extreme like going along with an angry mob to the point of violence. (s2, "We are Both"). Once he's realized how he'd been acting, he offered Regina his help to cope with the effects of the curse being lifted. He also seems a little too trusting of people he knows, which comes back to bite him hard in s2's "The Cricket Game" at his apparent "murder".

First person:

[The last he rembers is Regina coming to his office in the middle of the night and going to get a file. His throat sealing closed, Pongo's barking ringing in his ears and-

His eyes open, blinking rapidly.] "What on..?"

[His body catching up to his mind, Archie sits up very slowly and reaches for his throat. He grimaces, inhales sharply, and looks around as the train heads for its destination. As it pulls into the station and the door slides open, he shakily climbs to his feet. Feeling a shove at his back, he staggers for the door and onto the platform.]

"Hello..? Hello! Is anyone-?"

[His hand moves to his jacket pocket, his brows creasing at an unfamiliar weight. Pulling out a silver pocket watch, he opens it with a soft,] "Well. I know this isn't mine.."

[Checking it for the time and date, he rubs at his neck again.] "All right.. I can't say I've seen this kind before, but it looks pretty basic."

[Unaware that he's broadcasting anything, the feed goes dark as he closes the top and slips it back into his pocket for the time being.] "Where on Earth am I?"

Third person:
It was, to put it very mildly, a new experience. Not riding on a train- he wasn't a stranger to public transport (though his bicycle probably didn't count as such to everyone), but he was a stranger to waking up in an unknown place.

He looked around the train, quietly sorting everything he could remember up to the point of his blackout. Regina coming to the office and asking for a file, and Pongo's sudden rush of barking before it grew difficult to breathe. His hands slowly traced around his neck, wincing at the sting of pain. Catching his reflection in the nearest window, he could see faint red marks.

Exhaling slowly, he watched the scenery as it moved past, fiddling with his jacket and then his glasses. Producing a handkerchief, the lenses were cleaned up and their position on his nose adjusted.

They'd gone askew. He remembered that as well.

The train was pristine- nearly sterile in how clean it was, if not a little old fashioned in some regards. As it pulled into a stop and the doors slid open with a chime, Archie felt the compulsion to stand, as if he had needles being poked in his legs.

He stood, looking around in case there were other passengers. Perhaps someone who could explain how he ended up where he currently found himself.

The train, in addition to its pristine looks, was also empty. "A ghost train..?" he thought, looking back towards the windows.

There was the sudden feel of his shoulders being grabbed as he was shoved forward. Stumbling and nearly toppling to the ground as he caught his bearings, he staggered from the train. He landed onto the platform, caught his breath and turned in time to see the doors slide shut as the train pulled away.

"Pretty impatient for a train, I'd say." the joke came to his mind suddenly, and in spite of how weird everything was and how many things were bouncing in his head; Archie gave a chuckle.

He checked himself over, blinking as his hand hit a new shape in his coat pocket. Pulling out a watch on a chain, he examined it for a minute before easing the lid open.

"..Well, I know this isn't mine."

CHARACTER
Name: Baelfire
Canon: Once Upon a Time
Timeline: Just after he leaves the Enchanted Forest for the Land Without Magic, but before he gets there.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?:
Henry and Baelfire have no current canon connections besides being around the same age and the same sort of magic. They would not need to interact without a third person, most likely Regina or Rumplestiltskin, and therefore there will be no need for playercesting. That said; if they were played by two different muns, then their relationship would be interesting. But as it is, it does not need to happen and can be avoided.

Personality: We are expecting at least THREE well-written paragraphs minimum, with references to canon examples of your character’s personality. Please provide us with insight to your character and their behaviour, as well as your understanding of them.

Baelfire, or Bae for short, is a caring soul. Despite his parentage, he cares for everyone else as much as himself and only wants the best for people. Because of this and many other traits, he has been described as the light inside Rumplestiltskin. The love his father has for him is what keeps him human. Sadly, this is only seen a lot later when Bae was gone. Rumplestiltskin acts much less human, with much less remorse for his actions, and tends to use everyone else in the Enchanted Forest and beyond like a giant chess board. This is relevant to note as it shows Bae was Rumplestiltskin’s anchor to humanity and despite the problems his power created, Bae’s happiness was what his father wanted most of all.

Though Rumplestiltskin wanted his son to be happy, Bae attempts to help others were mostly futile as his father generally disregarded his pleas and irritation at his acts which generally ended other people dying for no reason. This is shown very obviously in Bae’s second appearance on the show as he realises his father has killed the maid they had. Despite the fact she was mute, she was still killed and Bae argues about it with Rumplestiltskin even if it was in vain. Another unless attempt to save a person’s life came when Rumplestiltskin killed the man he turned into a snail. Bae pleaded with his father but nothing changed.

He doesn’t like the idea of his father being The Dark One and refuses to let him use his magic to help him. For example; to heal his wounds, preferring to use ointments and water like everyone else even if it took longer to heal and hurt more. He also tries to stop his friend Morraine from seeing him as he believes himself to be dangerous even though it’s his father they are afraid of, not him. This is another example of his ability to care about so many others instead of himself.

He is also very brave. He seeks out the Reul Ghorm alone so as to try and help his father be the person used to be. She turns out to be the Blue Fairy and after she gives him a way to another world, he is then willing to leave everything behind for the unknown on the premise he will get his father back before he gained the powers of the Dark One. Sadly Rumplestiltskin doesn’t honour this deal and Bae calls his father a coward before disappearing into the land without magic.

Another one of Bae’s greatest traits is his hope and belief. Something he shares with Henry. Not only does he believe in himself, he believes in other and especially his father. He believes there must be a way to be with his father before the power overtook him and that belief is rewarded.

First Person: His thread on the test drive meme: http://rubycity-ooc.dreamwidth.org/133429.html?thread=1842741#cmt1842741

Third Person: Bae stepped off the train, confused. The last thing he remembered was going through what looked like a green whirlpool to the new land without magic. It saddened him thinking about it, his father had broken their deal and he had called him a coward. And now, he was here. Wherever here was.

Looking around, he noticed the posters plastered all over the walls and was glad to notice this land had a name. Ruby City. Could this really be the land without magic he was promised? Bae wasn’t sure what to believe at the moment. He’d been promised things both by his father and the Blue Fairy. He had hoped his father would honour their deal but it was not to be, so he had to believe the Blue Fairy was also telling the truth. Exiting the station, he continued to look for an occupant of this land to help answer this many questions.

“Hello?” He called out. “Is there anyone else in this land?”

Bae continued to walk away from the station, hoping to find some human contact, all the while thinking about his last moments with his father and friends. Was this really all worth it? He was now alone and a little scared in a land he had no knowledge of and the reason he was here didn’t even exist. As well as leaving his father behind, he’d left Morraine, his only friend since his father had changed. He hadn’t been worried about being here when he knew he was coming with his Papa. But now? Well, he’d just have to see what happens.

CHARACTER
Name: John Watson
Canon: Sherlock Holmes
Timeline: Post Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Personality: John Watson is, first and foremost, a gentleman. Serving in the Afghan war as a medical man helped to shape him into the man he is today - loyal, honorable, courageous and far from unintelligent. Although neat, tidy, professional, disciplined, and mild-mannered are strong descriptors, John is also the adventurous sort, learning shortly after moving in with the great mind of Sherlock Holmes that he takes great enjoyment out of accompanying him on his cases, helping to solve them, and also ensuring that Holmes doesn't get himself in more trouble than he can handle on his own.

One of the greatest factors of Watson's personality is, in fact, Sherlock Holmes himself. While he is not incapable of existing without the consulting detective, Holmes brings out the best and worst of Watson during their day to day routines. From Watson pulling teeth and slamming open blinds just to get Holmes up and out of his dingy, cluttered rooms to him fighting alongside him against thugs three times their size, Watson is always there, and unerringly loyal.

But living with and working alongside Sherlock Holmes has its... trying times, and although many have come and gone, unable to live with the other man's seemingly never-ending eccentricities, Watson is always the one man that remains at Sherlock's side (often whether Watson likes it or not).

Although he aims for an eventual and healthy domestic relationship with Mary Morstan, John is constantly drawn to the adventurous life that Holmes keeps, and even Holmes himself deduced without difficulty that Watson is 'terrified of a life without the thrill of the macabre', and this can be clearly seen in Watson's continual internal battle of 'just one more time' throughout the entirety of both movies.

John Watson's most notable shortcomings would be his drinking and gambling habits, of which Sherlock is well aware of. When in the presence of a gambling pit Watson is almost incapable of keeping hold of his professional state, drawn to the idea of just one more win, or just enough for rent, and when alcohol is involved (which Watson has no qualms about consuming in the slightest) the allure is almost impossible to ignore. Once he starts he has difficulty pulling himself away, even going so far as drinking himself into a stupor the night before his wedding and getting himself into a very large fight over bids scattered on the floor.

First Person: Sample is here

Third Person: He watched his best friend... the wisest man he'd ever known... die, before his very eyes. They'd locked gazes the moment Watson stepped through the door - he hadn't known what to expect when he walked onto the balcony of the falls, not really, but even with Holmes' last words to him ringing in the back of his mind, the thought of actually losing him was not in his thoughts - and as soon as Sherlock had closed his eyes, pushed off the wall and over... Watson's heart felt like it'd stopped beating, for the briefest of moments. Lost in time. Lost over the falls.

Moving from that spot was like accepting reality, and it was something he refused to do for a good long while before Sim came to collect him, lost in her own misery after the loss of her brother. He stumbled and turned to her, mouth open as if to speak words, but none came.

None came for some time.

He'd been at Sherlock Holmes' side for so long, for so many years, that the thought of actually losing him to a case was quite simply preposterous. They had lived a dangerous life, always on the edge, always a hair's breath away from a wrong move here, or a too-low swipe of a blade there, but luck had always been on their side.

Did you call me a selfish bastard?

Probably.

He was. He did. The selfish, selfish bastard. There had been other ways, there must have been - there was no reason he'd had to - it just didn't add up. Watson had been right there, right in the other room. He could have called for him and he'd -

But there was no use in dwelling. He knew there wasn't, but he couldn't help himself. Every stray thought, every innocent manner of every day life reminded Watson of his friend no matter how much Mary tried to console him. He appreciated her efforts, he truly did, but he was still angry. Hurt.

He should have pulled away from Sherlock Holmes sooner - perhaps it would have softened the numbness in his chest at the loss. But John Watson knew, deep down that he could never do that, not really.

A loyal dog to the end.
