Applications are processed weekly, every weekend. The cut-off time for the submission of applications is 11:59PST on Saturday.
✗ Before applying, please read the FAQ and Rules pages.
✗ Please submit your application with the journal you plan to use if you have one made already. If not, another journal is fine, but we prefer your intended journal so it makes for an easier time in granting access to the mod journal and the contacts page.
✗ For very long applications, we would ask you to please separate them into various comments so that they will not take up too much of the page.
✗ Please title your application as { [CANON/CANON OC/OC]CHARACTER NAME || Series Title || reserve/no reserve || X of X } in the subect header
IMPORTANT: Our application form was edited on September 07, 2015. Please use the revised form.

A note for CR AU applications
Ruby City does allow previous game history/CR to be brought over on a case by case basis. If you want to include this in your application please add additional sections for PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY beneath the Personality and Background/History sections.

In these additional sections we would like to see a brief outline of your character's previous game history and how it potentially impacted on and altered their canon personality.

[CANON] Iris Hawthorne | Ace Attorney | Not Reserved 2 of 2

[personal profile] non_toxic 2013-12-07 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER
Name: Iris Hawthorne
Canon: Ace Attorney
Age: 25
Timeline: Post-Trials and Tribulations
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: Juniper is more tied to Apollo and Athena, while Iris is more tied to Phoenix and Maya. There's no reason they have to ever cross paths.

Personality: Iris is an individual with extremely small self-esteem, and doesn't have any issues taking the blame for her sister or people she knows, whether it was partially her fault or not her fault at all. Because of this, however, she doesn't have much of a backbone and will more often than not give in and not argue with people. She feels like she is a burden to everyone and the cause of their issues, whether it's true or otherwise. She has a very pessimistic view on herself and will generally shoot down any praise she gets unless it's heavily warranted. Due to this she is very protective of information about her past and things she would prefer to keep silent about, however she is terrible at keeping secrets. When she is bullied or berated enough, especially by her sister Dahlia, she will lose all the small courage she has and defer to their logic and reasonings, especially if it's something Iris was involved in. She is modest about herself (again because of the low self-esteem) and will praise others over herself in any situation. She doesn't believe she's actually good for anything, but will still help others in need as best she can.

Despite all of this, she is very kind and polite, and tries her best to be nice to everyone she meets, even if they're being mean or rude to her. Because of this, she's able to usually keep an optimistic view on anything or anyone that is not herself. Because of her kindness however, which can be described as 'sickly sweet', she's easy to manipulate, especially by anyone that knows her very well or she's good friends with. She's also easy to deceive, and usually will not think twice about the sincerity of anything she's told unless it's obvious otherwise. She's also fairly shy when she's embarrassed or flustered and will generally not start conversations unless she is simply greeting the person or has something to talk to them about.

Iris believes there is good in everyone, even a little bit, though others believe she is a poor judge of character because of this (when in reality she's a faily good judge of character, but doesn't actively show it). She tries to be considerate of others' feelings when talking to them, and though she will help others, she generally waits to ask unless she knows the person very well, just in case she's not butting into something she has no business knowing about.

When people believe in Iris and praise her, she feels somewhat confident. However, when it comes to people that do the opposite, and when she is put down by her twin sister Dahlia, she tends to hide herself and feel like she's the cause of everyone's issues. She's still atoning for the sins she made five years prior and due to this, she won't be feeling very good about herself for a long time.

Background: Here!

Abilities: Iris has no special abilities that make her stand out in the crowd, other than being able to break physical psyche-locks (not the mental kind that require something like a Magatama to break).

First Person: Here!

Third Person: Here! I know the sample bends between past and present tense a few times, but it's mostly in past tense and was intended to set up a scene (which would have worked far better with prose than brackets.) Apologies for that!

Ruby Rose | RWBY | Reserved Pt. 2

[personal profile] ruby_roses 2013-12-08 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Ruby is a very excitable young woman. When she gets interested in something, she tends to go overboard with her enthusiasm, as evidenced by her romanticizing of the Huntsmen and Huntresses that she practically idolizes. She approaches most everything with this same sense of enthusiasm, vowing to be the best she can be in all things. The one exception to this is when it comes to her studies. She likes to read, but only novels. Things like textbooks and history lessons bore her, and her mind tends to wander when bored, to the point that she will begin to doodle in class rather than taking notes. Of course, these doodles are given her full attention and enthusiasm as well.

In terms of social interaction, Ruby is very awkward. She often speaks before she thinks, and will tend to shy away from crowds. Despite her enthusiasm and drive to be the very best she can be, she also wants to be a normal girl. Something that has been made infinitely more difficult in the light of her acceptance into Beacon University two years ahead of her classmates. Her close bond to her sister, Yang, has been both a blessing and curse to her since coming to Beacon with her older sister. The two are very close and thus are very prone to watching each other's back and helping out whenever possible, however, Ruby does feel almost inadequate in comparison to Yang. She sees Yang as the ideal she has to live up to, and the position of "leader" on their team makes her feel even more awkward.

Above all, though, Ruby's defining trait is her sense of justice. She has a very strong sense of justice and honor. Almost to a fault. She tends to rush into a situation head-first and figure out details later, and is undaunted by odds. While admirable, this could easily land her in trouble if outnumbered or outmatched in terms of skill or ability. She joined Beacon University to pursue a career as a Huntress and keep people safe from the Creatures of Grimm that plague the land. At one point, she even said she chose to be a Huntress instead of a police officer because being a huntress was "way more cool." Her child-like innocence, coupled with a grim understanding of how her world is makes for a unique person within the academy.

CHARACTER
Name: Earl Cain Hargreaves
Canon: Godchild
Age: 17
Timeline: After his death at the end of the series.

Earl Cain Hargreaves | Godchild | Reserved

[personal profile] potentpoisons 2013-12-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

While Cain, on the surface, seems like the perfect English Gentleman, he is very much the "black sheep" of the Victorian society. His interest in poisons as well as his ability to solve various crimes sets him apart from the polite citizens. Yet he doesn't care one bit what others think of him - particularly if they oppose him without getting to know him in the first place. There are very few that can get through to Cain or stop him (only temporarily at that) from doing what he wants to do.

Yet, while he can be quite temperamental or even volatile at times, he does care about the feelings of others. Underneath his whimsical facade of not caring about anyone but himself, he actually possesses a kind heart that has been hurt often in the past. If he feels a connection to another, that person will see a new side to the Earl - one that is kind hearted and desperate to protect those who ally themselves with him.

Thanks to finally confronting Alexis and ending a - quite literally - life long feud, Cain is stronger than he used to be. While he will miss Riff and Mary and Uncle Neil - as well as various others, he will finally be able to stand on his own two feet and start a new life. Perhaps in this one he won't be as much of a black sheep? Maybe he will even be able to have normalcy?

Only time will tell.

How Cain Will Adapt to RC: Cain didn't have the best upbringing by any stretch of the imagination. He was abused physically and mentally by his father, Alexis, and that took a toll on him in the form of nightmares and an intense fear of his father (at least until he finally confronted Alexis and poisoned him properly). He faced his death with no regrets, in the decaying arms of his ever-loyal servant, Riff.

He was certain he would travel into the afterlife with his servant; he was certain he could finally have some peace. However, once he finds out that has been denied him, he will be angry. Without Riff and without Mary, Cain will only have himself to rely on - physically and emotionally. But he is a strong young man. He knows how to change himself - both inside and outside - to better fit in his environment. Until he can accept his new existence, he will rely on his craftiness.

Background: This covers his story pretty well.

Abilities: ~ He has an extensive knowledge of poisons and how to use them (dosages etc.).

~ He is an excellent shot with his pistol.

~ He is damn crafty when it comes to reading other people and tricking them into their own traps.

~ He is very charming (particularly with the opposite sex).

~ And he has all the knowledge one would expect from a Victorian Earl (i.e. he is well-spoken, polite (for the most part), well-read and he can speak multiple languages).

~ On a vaguer note, Cain also has a connection to spirits. He is easily possessed by them.

dontknowhim: (「パネエ!!」)

[personal profile] dontknowhim 2013-12-14 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
More than anything Peter is extremely carefree. He's pretty much always got his head in the clouds. Since he lives in Heaven which is made of clouds in SYM's universe that's pretty literal, but. He's definitely a free spirit and very cheerful. He likes to go drinking on Earth, often chatting it up with the salarymen and goofing around with them. Letting loose and having fun, and joking around are everything Peter wants to be a part of, he also has a high alcohol tolerance. Often he comes across as rather childish, doing things like dancing around Moses as he bugs him. Other times his jokes can get rather offensive. Various forms of teasing, sometimes sexual jokes, flirting with or making mildly suggestive comments about pretty women - notably commenting on St. Mary's beauty with Andrew in front of Jesus. Peter doesn't mean any harm by it, and he doesn't really say anything bad, mean or crude, but the simple fact that he takes his jokes in that direct can be more than enough for some people. He also doesn't seem to be very bright. Jesus brings him a finger trap as a souvenir and initially it scares him because he can't get it unstuck.

He's interested and amazed by simple modern inventions and the like, the finger trap being a good example. Not only does Peter seem to think it's the greatest thing ever, he spends a long time playing with it and trying to figure out its secret. Modern things are his lifeblood. He loves manga, video games and general popculture - he even has a Twitter account. In an MMORPG, Daemon Hunter Online, he has a high level knight class character...and spends his time looking for rare mushrooms. He loves horror and has a wealth of knowledge of scary stories, although slasher films terrify him because they're just too brutal. Friday the 13th in particular is something he can't take. Even while he's working Heaven's reception desk, he's usually reading Shounen Jump (One Piece is his favourite). Which also happens to showcase his laziness. Granted, he doesn't have much to do but sit there 90% of the time, but even so, it's not exactly the professional thing to do. When Jesus stumbles across Peter and Andrew sitting at the desk discussing One Piece, he pretty much can't believe what he's seeing. The leader of the apostles not taking his job seriously in the least.

At one point he comments that he and his younger brother, Andrew, were reckless before becoming Jesus' followers. He says he's grateful to the teacher who changed them from their former no-good selves. He thinks school teachers could learn a lot from his way of doing things and wishes everyone could experience such transformation. Despite his usual sillyness, when it comes down to it, Peter is surprisingly wellspoken. His rare cases of seriousness serve to remind everyone exactly why he's the leader of the apostles, first Pope, and keeper of Heaven's gate. In a way, it's exactly because he can be both happy-go-lucky and serious that he's the right one for the job. While most of the others have fairly obvious failings, such as John having a hot temper, Judas lacking any selfconfidence or Jacob never speaking up, Peter actually has very good leadership skills. He can inspire people with insightful speeches and relate to them on a personal level by being funny and approachable. He's understanding, rarely upset, and easily comes up with solutions to problems.

Peter and Andrew are practically inseparable. They've always lived and worked together, have practically the same personality and interests, it's almost as if they're the same mind. He loves his brother and takes pride in his accomplishments almost as if they were his own. His friends are extremely important to him and Peter would do anything for Andrew and Jesus in particular. Although more so in the past, he is unfortunately, and generally understandably, frightened of dangerous situations. His denial of Christ was due to being afraid he would be persecuted as well if he admitted to being his follower. And that is something he regrets. Although because of his easygoing nature, he's moved passed it by now and knows it was wrong, but won't beat himself up over it. Similarly, he's easily forgiven Judas and often sticks up for him. He and Andrew are something like caretakers to Judas and tend to keep an eye on him out of concern for his wellbeing.

Background: Canon and Biblical Peter

Abilities: He is a gr8 fisherman and not so bad at farm work and carpentry. He's also capable of using a sword and likely a bow and arrow. He would likely be able to perform some minor miracles and as other saints have been shown to do, if he does something particularly virtuous his halo would become apparent, which would appear as his head glowing. He's also a surprisingly good leader.

Mostly he's really good at video games and drinking.

CHARACTER
Name: Ryotaro Dojima
Canon: Persona 4
Age: 41
Timeline: Shortly after Mitsuo was brought in
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: If you were to ask Dojima what kind of person he is, he would tell you he's nothing but a simple country detective living alone with his daughter. While it's true to an extent and Dojima doesn't find himself all that interesting, there is way more to him than just that. On first looking at him, all signs point to Dojima being a workaholic. He spends long hours at work and barely any time at home with his daughter. It's clear that he is a man who values hard work and diligence and that he doesn't stop until he gets the job done, with a strong sense of justice to go along with it all.

Or at least those are the reasons he puts up for how hard he works. In reality, it's because of the death of his wife, Chisato, that has driven Dojima to spend long hours away from home. The reasons are plentiful though the two biggest and most relevant are the fact he feels guilty for not being able to find the person who killed his wife in a hit and run, and the fact that his daughter reminds him so much of his wife that it's painful for him to look at her. Dojima is so busy running from his problems and hiding that he neglects Nanako in favor of work.

That doesn't mean he doesn't love Nanako, though, he's just extremely bad at showing it. He claims to have left raising her up to his wife because she knew how to do it. Now that she's gone, he has no idea what he's doing and he has a hard time with it. He tries though, despite how much of a hard worker he is. Sometimes he brings Nanako presents and sometimes he promises to take her places- the only problem is more often than not, he has to cancel his plans for work without really stopping to think how it must make Nanako feel. He's convinced himself though, that Nanako will understand when she's older. That he did all his work for her, to make the world a safer place, even if that's an excuse to justify running from his real problems.

The arrival of his nephew was good for Dojima in the grand scheme of things. As the two of them grew closer, his nephew was able to help Dojima realize that he was really just running away from his problems and his family because he was afraid of losing them. With that realization came the determination to do things differently and not neglect Nanako in favor of seeking revenge. Overall, it showed that he really cared for her and that he felt guilty for being so distant, and that he cared a lot his nephew as well, who he came to grow very close to over the course of him staying with them.

All of his deep rooted issues aside, Dojima is a pretty nice guy underneath his rough exterior. He isn't always the best at expressing himself and he can have an abrasive air to him. For example, his daughter tends to think he's fighting with his nephew when the two of them talk because Dojima comes off like he's interrogating him. Dojima doesn't mean to and usually he actually means well by it, wanting to keep his nephew out of trouble. At times, he can have a pretty short temper, especially when his work is piling up, notably during the murder investigations. He tends to treat his partner, Adachi, with exasperation and annoyance, ordering him around and yelling at him when he lets things slip he shouldn't.

Which really leads into how serious he takes his job. Dojima has been a detective for years and because of this, he's a damn good detective. He's perceptive, like most detectives and because he's such a workaholic, he doesn't like stopping until cases are settled. He doesn't always get it right, falsely accusing his nephew and friends and being suspicious of them on more than one occasion, but he still gets there in the end. He takes great pride in his job and felt insulted when Naoto, a teenager, was brought in to help with the investigation because he felt it should have been left up to the professionals. In fact, it's only when things really hit the fan and Nanako is put in danger that Dojima stops feeling so strongly about the kids getting involved. Otherwise, he gets angry if people stick their noses where it doesn't belong.

Overall, Dojima ain't that bad of a guy. Sure, he has some temper issues on occasion and he can come off as grouchy, but who doesn't have those days? For the most part, it's all brought on by the stress of the investigation. Without those, he's a bit more relaxed and less likely to get annoyed by things. Of course, one doesn't really see him outside of that environment so it would probably be weird for people to see that he has a more relaxed, softer side. But he does! Even if it is buried pretty deep and not many people get to witness it.

Background: http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Ryotaro_Dojima

Abilities: Dojima doesn't really have any special abilities or skills, aside from detective training and all that comes with that. He's pretty much your typical middle aged man as far as endurance and athletics go.

First Person: http://dear-mun.dreamwidth.org/10264548.html

Third Person:

It hit a little too close to home, the whole being kidnapped thing. Dojima couldn't help but wonder if he was a victim, at this rate. Was this what happened when someone was kidnapped and murdered? Was this what happened to that announcer and Saki Konishi? If whoever did this thought that they could kidnap him and get away with it, then they had another thing coming. Dojima wasn't going to just take that lying down.

But there was something different, he could feel it in his gut. Something about this wasn't like the cases back home. It was too... elaborate. No one had come back with stories of being taken to another city. No one had mentioned a train ride. None of it added up and none of it made a lick of sense. So no, Dojima didn't particularly believe that this had anything to do with the murders. But he wasn't exactly happy about being kidnapped at any rate.

Above everything, his biggest worry was Nanako. What would she do when he didn't come home from work? Of course she was used to that. But when the clock kept ticking and he stayed gone longer and longer, what would she do then? His nephew could look after her, yeah, but Dojima wasn't exactly pleased with that idea. Dojima trusted him, but he was her father. It was his responsibility to look after her. Nanako couldn't lose both parents, it just wasn't fair.

That was his biggest motivation to find out what was going on. Nanako. He had to get back to her no matter what. They could call in anyone else to solve the murder investigation, but they couldn't just call in another father for Nanako. Something about being dragged here was pretty eye opening in that regard.

CHARACTER
Name: The Doctor
Canon: Doctor Who
Age: Estimates vary on how old the Doctor actually is, apart from “old”. However, he appears to be to somewhere in his 30s.
Timeline: post “Embrace the Darkness”
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: The simplest way to explain the Doctor’s Eighth incarnation is to say that he is one of the chattier Doctors. Admittedly, being talkative is a trait common to many Doctors, but the Eighth takes it very nearly to the logical extreme - he is more often found talking to himself than, to the point that at least one of his companions remarks that it’s entirely unlike him to silent. He’s also prone to what is either soliloquizing or thinking aloud - he recognizes it at as a bad habit, but can never seem to manage to stop doing it either. This habit is not much helped by the fact that the Doctor also has a habit of going off on tangents as they occur to him, much less the fact that he tends to have his head in the clouds at the best of times.

That said, Eight is no less brilliant than any of his other incarnation. It’s simply that this, like many other of the traits that tend to be common across multiple Doctors, tends to be very well hidden are the fact that he is not only fairly charming and polite, but also that he is - at best - a little bit distractible, at least when it comes to staying on a single topic of conversion. This is not much helped by the fact that his tendency to make sweeping gestures, and the fact that he tends to get more than a little loud when he’s either angry or excited - as evident largely towards the end of the TV movie, but also throughout the course of his audios.

The audios also begin to flesh this incarnation out a little more than what had otherwise been present in the movie. It’s here that we first see that there is more to him than otherwise thought. The best example of this comes in Seasons of Fear - when the local villain minorly injures Eight’s companion, the Doctor wastes absolutely no time in not only threatening him with more suffering than he might have wished for, but later throwing him quite literally off the top of a castle. This later proves to be one of the few things that can manage to stun him into silence - as he explains to his companion after a bit of prodding, he wasn’t at all considering that he might have killed the man in throwing him off as he had and given his preference to avoid violence at , it disturbs him to have come so close without even thinking about it. That said, once the Doctor has decided on a course of action, he will most certainly not give up. This is mostly in cases where the lives of people or worlds are in danger, but on least one occasion (The Chimes of Midnight) he refuses to let the villain in question - a sentient house - talk him into letting it live. Not only should the house never have been, it was also fueling it existence on death itself. That the life of his companion at the time also stood in the balance probably didn’t hurt either. If the Doctor truly cares for anyone, it’s the people he brings along with him.

However, the Doctor also has more than a few bad habits. The most notable of these is
fact that he seems to be almost unable to to help people in need. In fact, his sense of heroism is so strong that he has made more than one attempt to make a heroic sacrifice for the sake of his companion - as of Embrace the Darkness, she has begun to realize his habit of trying to make a dramatic sacrifice for her and absolutely no intention of letting him do so. However, this combined with Eight’s tendency to never to give up means that he is almost exceedingly willing to help even people he’s not so much as heard of before.

In times of strain, he also has something of a habit of resorting to sarcasm, largely in an attempt to distract himself from the situation at hand. Whether or not it actually works is another matter entirely, but even at the very end of his life, it’s still very much a habit of his - as the Sisterhood of Karn would be all too glad to attest to.

Abilities: First and foremost is the fact that all appearances aside, the Doctor is in fact not actually human. As such, there are more than a few differences when it comes to the more biological side of things. The most noticeable - and familiar - of these is the fact that he has two hearts instead of one. This has, on occasion, confused medical professionals who haven’t been expecting it, especially given that his heart(s)beat runs to a four-beat instead of the much more standard two-beat found in most humans. He is also capable of surviving with only a single working heart, although this is neither particular comfortable nor necessarily feasible for any particular stretch of time. In addition to this, he is also generally more resilient than the average human, and can better tolerate extremes of both heat and cold, as well as being able to survive electrical shocks that would be fatal to humans. Likewise, all of his senses are distinctly better than human average - this includes proprioception, which makes him generally harder to disorient. Alongside these, he has a nebulously defined “time sense” which allows him to sense the flow of time as well as disruptions and jumps in the time stream.

Like all Gallifreyans, he is also mildly telepathic. This mostly extends to a sort of telepathic link with other Time Lords, he is also capable of using it to read - and sometimes alter people’s minds - as well transfer memories. With effort, he can also communicate telepathically at long range, but this appears to be limited to specifically other Time Lords.

Rounding out the various biological quirks is the fact that his biochemistry is different enough that various poisons either affect him differently - in his later incarnations, he’s been shown to be able to counteract the effects of cyanide poisoning given a few extra bit and pieces, and X-ray radiation affects Time Lords so little as to be very nearly harmless - or take longer to actually kill him. On the flip side, aspirin is toxic to him, even in small doses.

Finally, like all Time Lords he’s capable of regenerating into a new form - and a new personality - in order to escape death.

Alongside this, the Doctor knows in a number of languages. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, Old High Gallifreyan, Gallifreyan (his native tongue), Judoon, Delphon, several Chinese dialects, Ancient North Martian, Tritovore, French, English, and some Sycoraxic. Anything he’s not familiar with is usually taken care of by the TARDIS’s translation circuits.

He also naturally smells like honey, for reasons that have never really been explained.

First Person: [There’s a brief moment of silence, and then a voice speaks up. What he was doing prior to speaking - and it is most definitely a male voice - isn’t quite so certain, although presumably some of it was spent working out the approximate workings of the communicator.]

Ah, there we are. Strange sort of thing though, isn’t it? Communicator inside a pocket watch - almost mistook it for mine. Not quite the same design though. Similar, yes, but not quite. Either someone’s done a very poor job of duplicating it or it’s a very common design for these sort of things.

Still, the question is - just what sort of network is this. Watch-based, yes, but what is it actually for? Who else is here, and more importantly, why does whoever made these in the first place want to be so sure we stayed in contact?

[Yeah, he’s... pretty much talking to himself at this point. Distractions or interruptions are probably a good idea.]

Third Person: By most circumstances, there were certain things that were fairly common to time travel. New locations, occasionally new alien species, and an awful lot of problems to get into. Most of them, however, tended not to come with quite such interesting transport. True, it looked like a train, but any train that could pull him out of the TARDIS itself was a very impressive train and no mistake.

Unfortunately for the Doctor, any attempts at curiosity were not really going to be feasible. Not when the train was already pulling into what seemed to be a station. Not one he knew, of course, but that was at least not anything new. New places were part of the fun, and given that the train was now stationary there was certainly nothing stopping him from seeing what he could find about the train. Or at least, that was his intent. The train, meanwhile, seemed to have other ideas, and he wasn’t really certain what to make of it.

The fact the train also vanished shortly after he finally bent to the pressure attempting to shoo him off the train was simply another oddity. Of course, with train now gone there wasn’t anything he could actually observe, but well. Sooner or later it would be back. Or at least, presumably it would be back. For now, there was at least something else to look at. What could be made of this new city... well, that would be something to find out and with one last look at where the train had been, the Doctor set out into the city at large. He had a TARDIS to find, at the very least, to say nothing of Charley.

The only question then, was what this particular world - or city - happened to have in store for him.

[CANON] Gabumon || Digimon Adventure || No Reserve || 2 of 3

[personal profile] blueblaster 2013-12-20 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Digimon Adventure Gabumon, like all Gabumon in general, is a shy monster who prefers friendship to fighting. Though he resists fighting, with other Digimon and with his partner, if he is pushed to his limit he will defend himself and anyone he cares about is threatened. This is why he and Yamato obtain the Crest of Friendship; whenever their friends are in danger, like the time Seadramon attacks the Chosen Children and captures Yamato, Gabumon is eager to evolve and launch an attack. Otherwise, Gabumon is a calm Digimon.

Speaking of Yamato, Gabumon considers him his most treasured friend. His loyalty and devotion to Yamato is so intense that when Yamato leaves the safety of the group, Gabumon does everything in his power to convince the boy to return. When he refuses, Gabumon promises to stay by his side and do whatever he can to help Yamato, which includes challenging the other Chosen Children and their Digimon. They go so far as to attack Taichi and Agumon, entering a battle against Wargreymon as Metalgarurumon. After the Chosen Children work out their differences, Gabumon gladly rejoins the team with Yamato and resumes fighting as their ally. His dedication to his friends is never broken, only put under stress.

When he warms up to people, Gabumon is a friendly and kind monster. At Yamato’s urging, Gabumon leaves his side to hold Yamato’s younger brother Takeru to keep him warm. Gabumon could have refused, but understanding that Yamato just wants to take care of his brother, follows his orders, but not without telling Yamato he should be a little more forward next time. Another time, Yamato falls ill while searching for Takeru on a cold, snow-covered island. Gabumon takes him back to a cave where he keeps a fire going, then covers Yamato with his pelt. Gabumon is very resistant to removing his pelt, being a modest Digimon, so giving up his pelt for anyone is a sign of great love. The next morning Gabumon develops a cold but doesn’t complain about it. He rarely groans about anything, and is more likely to suffer through a bad situation than make trouble for anyone else. Gabumon believes in sharing and equality, treating everyone he meets with respect as long as they aren’t making trouble.

Gabumon has a few fears and weaknesses. He can’t stand the thought of his friends suffering and being unable to help them. In general he would be sad to lose his friends, as anyone would. He is very sensitive about his pelt and nudity. When Taichi teases him about giving up his pelt, Gabumon runs away in fear. At another point in the series, the children enjoy a hot bath while Gabumon stands miserably around the corner. He has one hand on his shoulder, having removed the pelt from one of his arms, but does not undress any further. It can be assumed he never joins the other Digimon and their partners. After a difficult fight in which he does or does not evolve, Gabumon will revert to his in-training stage, Tsunomon. Whenever Gabumon loses his strength, he needs food and rest to repower. If he is hungry or tired, his Petit Fire attack is more like a matchstick lighting than an honest flame, and he cannot evolve. Gabumon also cannot evolve without Yamato or without a strong power source, as seen in 02 when Qinglongmon’s DigiCore gives Gabumon the ability to evolve to Weregarurumon after he’d lost that power.

CHARACTER
Name: The War Doctor. We're at the name and it's already complicated. None of the Doctors from 9 upwards count this one as a "Doctor" due to his actions. Even the War Doctor agrees with that. However, he's referred to by the end of Day of the Doctor by his name, and is listed as the War Doctor in all written formats. Just to make it even more complicated, upon regenerating into the War Doctor, he states he's a "Doctor no more" and is known to the Time Lords as the "Renegade". Apparently being the Doctor during the Time War and committing mass genocide gives you name-perks.
Canon: Doctor Who.
Age: Physically in his late sixties or early seventies. Mentally? Apparently not even he knows. The estimate would be in the late 800's early 900's but that is grasping at straws. The reason being that the Doctor can't keep his age right in his own head.
Timeline: Before his regeneration in Day of the Doctor. However, one thing to note is that he should not be able to remember attempting to save Gallifrey; it was a given that all the Doctors minus Eleven would forget the actions they had done that day due to separate time streams. So the War Doctor will have memories of the weapon and deciding to use it, and then being back in his TARDIS.

Personality: "War Doctor: No more."

The War Doctor, unlike his other selves, is most likely winner of the 'most grim Doctor' award. And that all boils down to the situation he has found himself in. Above all else, this Doctor is a fighter, a warrior. When the Eighth regenerated, it was with the determination that the next one be the warrior the Time War needed, and they didn't get it wrong. The War Doctor is smart and tactical, he's able to break into the Omega vault on Gallifrey and escape with The Moment with seemingly little issue. He knows what it is and what it does too, showing a grim determination to end the Time War. He's a tired Doctor, having seen a lot of things with the eyes he currently has. Upon his "birth" the War Doctor was actually young, which means that he's been in the War in that current incarnation for quite some time, lending credit to the fact he's smart enough to survive for that long in a desperate situation. He'd seen enough to know that killing all Time Lords and Daleks was the only way of saving the universe, showing that grim determination- that no matter how much he doesn't like it, and the fact it's going to kill him, he's going to do it.

"Tenth Doctor: You were The Doctor on the day it wasn't possible to get it right."

It's a known fact that the later incarnations of the Doctor shun the War Doctor, claiming that he isn't even a Doctor due to his actions. Not until the end of the movie of course. And it's something that the War Doctor actually agrees with. This Doctor is someone who looks before he leaps, mulling over actions before doing them. Whilst Ten and Eleven show kneejerk reactions, War Doctor is more just standing there, making pointed remarks on the other two's actions instead. Thus it comes back to the Time War. The War Doctor knows what he is doing is mass genocide. Even when he knows just how many billions of children there are on Gallifrey, or how it affects his later incarnations and their actions, he is still going to press that button. It is for the greater good. War Doctor knows what he's doing is heinous, there's no shame in admitting that. In fact, at one point he defends what was done, stating there was no choice in his actions. The War Doctor does not make excuses, and he sure doesn't gild the lily.

"War Doctor: Oh the pointing again. They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"

Time War aside, War Doctor does have personality other than the dark stuff. He is seemingly easily exasperated, especially by his two other selves and the things they come out with. War Doctor also has no issue in scolding the pair either. Timey-Wimey? The pair of them obviously need to stop acting like children. Even towards the end of the show, when the other two Doctor's shout out their 'battlecries', War Doctor can't help but roll his eyes and mutter "for God sake" before throwing in one of his own. The War Doctor has a serious frame of mind, and so the antics of his other selves appear childish and silly to him. It's not exactly a surprise though when this Doctor was born during the Time War to end it.

"Clara: Hang on, three of you in one cell and none of you thought to try the door?
War Doctor: It should have been locked.
Eleven: Yes, exactly. Why wasn't it locked?"

Despite the seriousness, the War Doctor does have some levity down there and it bubbles to the surface on occasion. When Ten is stating he is not wearing sand shoes, War Doctor is quick to jump in stating that they are. His sense of humour is dry, his sarcasm sharp. The War Doctor seems to like his quick witted comments, especially when it's directed at his older selves. It's not too often this happens, but it is there. And once it's revealed the destruction of Gallifrey doesn't happen, the War Doctor is much more relaxed, smiling and (still) enjoys tormenting his two older selves. He's fine with giving Clara a hug and a peck on the cheek, the weight is off his shoulders which shows that the War Doctor is carrying a heavy burden with the Time War event.

"War Doctor: We might as well get started. Help to pass the timey-wimey. Do you have to talk like children? What is it that makes you so ashamed of being a grown-up? Oh. The way you both look at me. I'm trying to think of a better word than "dread."

Overall, the War Doctor is a smart man. He knows exactly why the two others are looking at him with dread, making a point of bringing up the elephant in the room. There are moments where the actual Doctor in him shines through too, showing that he can make mad calculations in his mind. And despite being blunt and to the point, the War Doctor also knows when to keep his mouth shut. It would have been all to easy to say he hadn't destroyed Gallifrey yet, but that just wasn't on the cards. It was better to just take the negativity and blame for something he had not yet done, he'd deserve it in his mind. He can also be civilized when needed, being a complete gentleman for anyone that isn't the Doctor.

[CANON] The War Doctor || Doctor Who|| reserve || 2 of 2

[personal profile] gallifreyfalls 2013-12-20 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Background: Wiki Link

Abilities: The Doctor doesn't really tend to have abilities per say, but he does have some attributes if that makes sense. Firstly the Doctor is smart, he can work things out at a breakneck speed and then some more. His understanding of time and space goes beyond the norm, and has a good grasp on what cause and effect really is about. There's also the sonic screwdriver, a metal screwdriver that can scan objects and give whatever readings needed on them. It can also manipulate most things, except for wood. There's also some slight telepathy which is rarely used, and all the quirks of having two hearts, making him somewhat more resilient than the average human.

First Person: [It's prudent to use text when you're not 100% on what you're dealing with.]

Really? What a load of nonsense. I suppose this is the point where I'm meant to ask where I am. And I doubt it's the first time you've heard that one. So good time of day to you. By this point you probably have some welcome parties set up, so feel free to let them send their information to me on these devices. It would be prudent and helpful of course.

That or you could leave me to just wander around. Wouldn't be the first time.

Do I have to start with the basics? If so, then where's the exit? I don't really have time to be doing this in a place I'm not needed in.

Third Person: (taken from Asgard, will be happy to write a new one out if needed.)

It was pretty clever what had happened. Even the War Doctor had to admit that one. Not only had he been moved to another place, but it had been done at such the perfect time. Painlessly, soundless, it was definitely well done. And that made it all the more bothersome. The War Doctor shook his head as he eyed his surroundings, hands clasped behind his back. One moment he'd been in his TARDIS, the next right here in Asgard. There'd been no noise or build up; it had just simply happened. And that made it a problem, a big one. It was the War Doctor's opinion that nothing ever just happened. Sure there were reasons for it- like the ones he'd heard on arriving, vague as they were- but the physics of it all bothered him. The amount of energy needed for such a pull would have been astronomical. Such a seamless event....

At the end of it all, the outcome of winding up in a new place really didn't make much difference. The War Doctor wouldn't have batted an eyelid if a meteor hurtled from the heavens, striking them all down. Not after the heinous thing he had done. The most terrible of all things. He had pressed the button that wiped out Gallifrey. Not only Gallifrey but it's billions of inhabitants, Time Lords and Daleks (the latter not a major loss). At the end of the day it had been the only option. Destroy the galaxy that Gallifrey resided in, or let the Time War destroy all of reality. Yet as much as the War Doctor thought that to himself, it didn't lessen the pain in his hearts any. Those were his people, the large majority of them innocent of all things. Mothers, fathers, children, all gone and he had been the one to do it. The War Doctor sighed inwardly, wondering if he would ever come to terms with it. It was such a dreadful event he could barely even remember doing it. It was clear as day- the reasoning, stealing the Moment and taking it to the abandoned hut. God, he could even remember the Interface talking to him. About what though was vague, and the War Doctor knew the rest was blanked out. Perhaps that was for the best in the end. Who would want to remember causing mass genocide to begin with? It had been the right thing to do, and there was nothing anyone in the Universe could say to change that.

No-one could say anything to change it.

The punishment for such a thing was to survive. The War Doctor could remember that part, and what a punishment it was. He'd had every intention of going down with the planet, and now he had to see the rammifications of his actions for the rest of his days. And what days those would be, if they were going to be spent in Asgard. Norse mythology was always a strange read even on a good day. The War Doctor had no illusions this was going to be easy, but it sure would be a good distraction from the whirlwind of thoughts in his mind over Gallifrey. He would need information first. That would be the important bit. Information and lodgings. Since his TARDIS wasn't around the War Doctor knew he would have to get used to every day things. That was until he found his way out. Then who knew?

"Perhaps a beach and some sunshine," the War Doctor muttered to himself, casting an eye the bracelet he'd been given. Simple device, user friendly. Everyone was probably joined up through a network of sorts. That was another disturbing thought. If he'd been given one of these bracelets and some basic information, then that meant there were others around. Other people pulled in from all reaches of the universe. Probably all reaches of time as well. Just what kind of issue did the Asguardians have that would warrant such a tactic? Whatever it was, it reeked of desperation. This wasn't going to be pretty. It would probably be hard work, tedious and a pain in the backside. Between the end of the Time War and Asgard, it had all the chances of causing a midlife crisis.

The War Doctor looked forwards to it, and unlike his successors he didn't need a shouted catchphrase to show his enthusiasm. Just the slightest curl of his lips would do.
