CHARACTER
Character Name: Portugal/Madalena Almeida
Canon: Hetalia
Timeline: Portugal, at this point, is only various concept sketches; we know the character exists but we don't know anything else, including gender since concept sketches of both genders have appeared. However, I am bringing Portugal in from the present day.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: Largely irrelevant; Portugal has no real reason to interact with Canada or Wales, so there's no reason for playercest.

Personality: Portugal, at first glance, appears to be a cheerful, slightly mischievous woman, and in large part this is true. She's a bit of a matchmaker when she's bored, so watch out for her to meddle in other people's relationships if she has nothing better to do. The majority of her people are Roman Catholic, and she herself is still devout, though she doubts that she has any chance of heaven should she die. This bleak opinion of herself is something she keeps well-hidden, however; as said above she tends to act happy.

She does, however, have a darker side. After all, she was once an empire, and while she tended to be a stern mistress rather than a cruel one, imperial ambitions require a degree of ruthlessness. Another example of this is during the Iberian Union (when Spain ruled Portugal), when she did her best to break up the personal part of the Hapsburg Union, i.e. Spain and Austria's marriage. Her goal in that case was the hope that a personal break would eventually affect politics, and that her brother would lose enough strength that she could be free again. It failed and her people's independence was finally achieved with French aid, but at the time it seemed like a good idea to her and she didn't care if someone got hurt in the process. Today, though, she has largely let go of this ruthless side – it can appear in extreme situations but it's rarely needed now. She's working on finding her identity in this modern world, after decades of dictatorial and Church control kept her firmly entrenched in older traditions.

Portugal also has a defiant side to her nature. As a female nation, she's often faced trouble from her leaders in a culture that historically placed women as lesser. This led, for example, to her disguising herself as a boy to fight in wars – particularly wars against her brother, Spain. Today it mostly shows up as a contrary side to her nature; she loves to argue and play devil's advocate. Sometimes she disagrees with someone or tells them no simply for the fun of riling them up or starting an argument.

She is a terrible, terrible driver and should never be allowed behind the wheel of a car. (Portugal has the most automobile-related deaths in the EU.) However, she is extremely good at handling all kinds of ships, and she's the perfect person to sit shotgun because she's an excellent navigator. When she's drunk, she starts acting remarkably like her casually affectionate brother, becoming very touchy-feely and a bit flirty. She says that when she drinks and when she's on the water are the only times she fully relaxes. Portugal always likes to cuddle, but she has too much pride to seek that sort of contact from most people. The time she's spent as a ship's navigator in centuries past and as a soldier in the old days and more recently (military service being required by her government for all citizens, she signs up herself now and then to show solidarity) has left her with a bit of a dirty mouth when stressed or worried.

Part of why she's such a bad driver is that she's an adrenaline junkie. Portugal is someone who once held significant power, and who took to the battlefields and the oceans herself, damn the consequences. So it's little surprise that in the modern day she seeks out danger and excitement. The fact that there's some risk to life in Ruby City will be, to her, one of the upsides to the situation.

Portugal is extremely loyal if she decides to give that loyalty to someone, and it is both a strength and a weakness because it can blind her to their faults. The reverse is also true; she is very slow to change her opinion if she dislikes someone. Similarly, when she loves it's with all she has; sometimes the love can change from romantic to platonic (or nearly so) and vice-versa, but once you matter you always matter, outside of betrayal. That is the only time she really turns on someone. It's very nearly impossible to get her to forgive or to forget.

Portugal is a tall woman who appears to be about twenty-five or so; she's slender rather than curvy, with long dark brown hair and gray eyes. She's tan from living in a Meditteranean climate.

History: Exactly when Portugal was born is a mystery even to her – she vaguely remembers Roman Lusitania, who she assumes is her father. This would put her birth sometime before the fifth century, when Germanic tribes invaded. This, she remembers clearly, and suspects that it's the origin of her gray eyes. She also remembers the time she spent under the rule of the Moors, African Muslims, as a rather confusing time. It was the last period when she and her brother were united in wanting to throw off the yoke they were both under, which led to the Reconquista. (She managed escape several hundred years before all of her brother's land was freed.) After that, though, she had to break free of the control of one of the regions that belonged to her brother, Galicia.

CHARACTER
Name: Remus John Lupin
Canon: Harry Potter
Timeline: A couple years after the First Wizarding War.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: : Remus Lupin is a half-blood wizard who is considered by many to be a kind and approachable individual who always has a smile on his face. Indeed, he is a gentle and good-natured young man who is intelligent and perceptive, possessing an uncanny ability to read people’s emotions and guess what’s on their minds. His patience knows no bounds as he’s calmly observant and a polite listener, which has contributed to the wisdom he possesses and is willing to pass on to others seeking advice. He is quite knowledgeable in many subjects to do with magic due to his studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, particularly in Defense Against the Dark Arts. He is also quite often depicted as having an insatiable love of chocolate.

However, all is not what it seems on the surface. When Remus was a small child, he was attacked and bitten by a werewolf, which effectively turned the young boy into one. On every night of a full moon, Remus is forced to undergo the agonizing transformation into a blood-thirsty dark creature and lose his human mind. In a transformed state, werewolves desire to spread their curse through their victims by violently attacking them. When segregated from humans, werewolves will often turn to biting and clawing themselves out of frustration, causing more pain and suffering for the inflicted individual. Some even lose their humanity completely and are taken over by the dangerous and hostile tendencies outside of their transformations.

Due to the horrendous nature of werewolves, wizarding society has strong prejudices toward anyone affected with lycanthropy. Because of this, Remus harbors feelings of self-shame and a fear of rejection. While at school, he would often turn a blind eye when his friends – James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew – would bully a fellow student, despite being against such treatment, because of his desire to be accepted by other people. Although he never partook of the bullying, he would quietly feel guilty for not doing anything to stop it. This branded him the mature one of the group, though it can hardly be said that Remus didn’t participate in playing pranks and causing trouble with the others, for he certainly isn’t without a good sense of humor. He can be witty and sarcastic with a penchant for mischief, characteristics associated with being one of the Marauders during his time at Hogwarts.

The on-going transformations have caused stress and weariness to take its toll on Remus’s body, making him sick and exhausted. But despite the hardships he’s had to endure for years since his youth, Remus remains strong-minded and tactful in being able to see the good in almost everything and forgiving of ignorance with an understanding of the reasons people fear werewolves as they do. However he often lacks self-worth, submitting himself to thinking he is too dangerous to be around people and has trouble opening himself up to others. His friends became his pillar of support. Even when he tried to hold on to the secret of his lycanthropy – out of respect for Dumbledore’s wishes and his own shame for being what he was - his friends found out about him being a werewolf, but instead of abandoning him they each became Animagi – wizards who could turn into animals – in order to help make Remus’s transformations less excruciating. This bold act of friendship strengthened their bond and became the happiest Remus had ever been in his life.

Even though he is naturally calm and level-headed, Remus can become frighteningly aggressive when provoked or angered. He is a quick thinker and a powerful wizard, and his cheerful and mellow demeanor should not be taken for weakness. He has shown to have a sadistic side toward people who have wronged someone he cares for. Despite his feelings of self-loathing, he is brave and loyal to his friends, and he is willing to face extreme perils to protect those he loves.

After the First Wizarding War and the supposed deaths of three of his friends and betrayal of another, Remus has struggled to make ends meet. Discrimination toward werewolves has made it hard for him to find work and support himself, where before he had been relying on his friends’ help. Still, he courageously holds on to the belief that there will one day be light shed on his otherwise terrible life.

First Person: [Remus steps off the train and looks around the seemingly deserted platform with a mixed expression of exasperation and confusion. It did not appear anything out of the ordinary to him except that there weren’t any people around either coming or leaving, only him.]

Is anybody there? [When no one answers, he circles around to check the train and feels something press against him in his coat pocket. He reaches inside and pulls out what appears to be an old-fashioned pocket watch, one he has no recollection of owning. Curious, he opens it and is surprised to see a small screen of some kind instead of a clock’s face.]

Interesting little gadget. Must be a muggle’s device. But how on earth did you wind up in my pocket?

[He checks for a name, sees none, and sighs. He then checks to make sure his wand is with him then looks out toward the city.]

Third Person: Alone. It was a dreary feeling but one Remus was well acquainted with at this point. Still, in spite of the fact that no one appeared to be around, there was the distinguishable feeling of another presence, one that made up for the general lack of human contact, as if the city itself were alive and bustling with activity and emotion.

Remus shook his head. He was still weary from the painful events of the night before last that had induced the sleep he had woken from, and it was obviously taking a toll on his mind. He looked around again and saw quite clearly that the city was deserted. However he had gotten on the train that brought him here was certainly anyone’s guess, though Remus was willing to gamble on a few explanations, the simplest one being he must have fallen asleep on what he thought was an out of order train again only to wake up and find himself magically whisked away to some unknown location.

Still safer than sleeping in the streets, he supposed.

What was odd, though, was that he didn’t feel the slightest bit compelled to return to the train. Instead he was quite curious to see where his unplanned departure had brought him. The watch (which he was reduced to calling it even though opening it had made it obvious that was not what it was) in his hand seemed to buzz with his anticipation to find out more about this place. If he was lucky he would find a directory telling him where he was exactly and from that point, if there turns out to not be much else to explore, maybe he could apparate back to…well…it wasn't like he had much else to do.

Remus began walking toward the entryway that led away from the station, his tired yet inquisitive eyes searching the area for signs of civilization or just plain signs in general.

CHARACTER
Name: AJ Crowley
Canon: Good Omens
Timeline: Present-day
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:
First and foremost, Crowley is a demon, or, better known as 'an Angel who did not fall so much as saunter vaguely downwards.' A rather highly-regarded fallen angel who has lived on earth since the time of its creation, Crowley has very little free will when it comes to his 'Superiors' who take residence in the Below. It has been shown a few times that he is not only incapable of disobeying any orders given to him by the 'higher ups' in the Below, but he seems to do what he's told with a hint of reluctance or discontent. When told to deliver the Spawn of Satan to the order of the Chattering nuns, he tries to talk his way out of it with two dukes of hell, only to give into those orders in the end.

Unlike most other demons in hell, Crowley is a bit more adjusted to life on earth and life among humans. So far as he is concerned, humans can be far crueler to each other than demons and things from the Below could ever be. He's fascinated by new technology, as well as things that other demons pay little or no attention to, driving an old Bentley car to get from place to place instead of another more demonic way of travel, as well as using human technology to do his 'job'. He always keeps a brand new computer in his house, always upgrading to the newer and better grade machine when it is put on the market, but it is said that he only keeps it up to date because it seems to be 'something a normal human would do'. The fact that he seems to appreciate and even like humanity is considered a major failing in a demon, according to the 'Dramatis Personae,' but he doesn't seem to ever give a damn.

Because he appreciates the idea and existence of humanity so much, Crowley often finds himself irritated and bored with the way most demons think. Old thinkers, with old ideas and old ways of going about things, he feels that because the demon race are not 'up and with' the constantly growing and evolving human race, that their ways of dealing with humans and, more so, dealing with damning the souls of humans are old-fashioned. They are, in his opinon, in desperate need of finding new ways to bring them to hell. A meeting with two old dukes of hell, Ligur and Hastur, he brings up the point (in his own head, at least) that picking away at one soul at a time was meaningless. Yes, it took skill and was pretty well an art, but with the population on earth as large as it was becoming, he feels that it was a waste of time. Crowley prefers to bring a large number of souls a little closer to Satan, rather than to consume one person completely with temptation after a few years. The old thinkers, Ligur and Hastur thought nothing of the fact that Crowley tied up all of the phone lines in London during lunchtime. When, if they were up to date with technology in the here and now, they would have realised how many human souls this would have tarnished via rage and frustration from not being able to make important and perhaps even vital phone calls.

Crowley is actually better known as the snake that tempted Eve into eating the fruit of knowledge some 6000 years ago. As 'The world's most approachable demon', Crowley actually doesn't have the stomach for the sort of cruelties that other demons are capable of, or even what humans are capable of either. Many times he says that humans are far more imaginative than demons are, and that the Below should shut down Dis and Pandemonium, because all the demons were up on earth, 'seeking asylum'. He does his job as a demon, as he did deliver the antichrist and in the past, getting under Aziraphale's feet, however, it's said that things like the Spanish Inquisition had drove him to drink for a week. Showing that, perhaps, he is not as cruel as one might think. In his opinion, humans are far better at causing each other misery than any demon could, anyway. Crowley is also extremely level-headed, showing little or no panic in dangerous or tense situations. The two dukes of hell, sent to capture and see the snakelike man brought back to the Below for screwing up an important mission could not even phase him. He manages to deal with them as if they were nothing more than a minor inconvenience before going about his business as if nothing had happened.

In the very beginning of 'time,' Crowley makes a joke at Aziraphale that he would find it funny if he had done the right thing in the Garden of Eden. That perhaps, persuading Eve to eat the Apple of Knowledge was the right thing to do, while Aziraphale's act of giving away his flaming sword was the wrong one. This suggest that, perhaps, Crowley doesn't think that things he does are wrong, or that he just doesn't think of some of his actions as being wrong. This is shown again when he is feeding ducks with the angel, and almost causes one of the ducks to drown by making the animal sink under the surface after eating a bit of bread. He only releases whatever sort of hold he had on the animal when Aziraphale scolds him for it. At the same time, Crowley IS capable of doing some good. Bringing a dove back to life after suffocating, convincing Aziraphale to become the Antichrist’s godfather to directly attempt to prevent the apocalypse from happening, as well as being ready to fight against Lucifer, the King of Below alongside Aziraphale when it seemed like he was about to come up onto earth when his son did not cause the apocalypse.

The last notable trait about Crowley is that he's a bit of a perfectionist. His human home, which he barely ever uses, is spotless from top to bottom. Not a speck of dust or dirt to be found. His music, books, and movies all arranged neatly on his shelves in alphabetical order, arranging them as such a sort of habit when he becomes bored. He also has the most luxurious, verdant, and beautiful houseplants in all of London, which is something he takes pride in. Having heard on the radio that plants grow better when spoken to, he has made habit of not only talking to his houseplants, but threatening them. When one becomes a little lackluster, it's leaves not so green, or something of the sort... he takes the plant around to all the others in his house, saying 'He just couldn't cut it. Say goodbye.' to the other plants in the house before taking it away, never to be seen again. This has seemed to have quite an effect, as his plants are in the most beautiful form one would ever see.

First Person:
[Pain wasn’t something Crowley was fond of. Hell, it was something he was barely aware of, let alone something he ever experienced. Yet, at this very moment, where he stood—or, rather, lay kind of unscrupulously on the ground of some weird train station he HOPED was no-where near the Below—he had the most irritating headache he’d had in some centuries. Maybe some hangover from the fourteen-hundreds was comparable. A little while earlier, he had happened in on a train somewhere near Brighton and found it to be complete abandoned. He hadn’t PLANNED on taking a trip on a train, as his new Bentley was parked just outside, it’s headlights dead, not a drop of fuel in its tank. It just felt odd, when he’d walked up to the platform. No humans, certainly no demons, and not a trace of holy power, he found himself drawn to the thing. He’d damn well say he blacked out the moment he stepped onto the thing, because the next thing he knew, he was in an empty traincar, barrelling down a dark tunnel at a speed that made him, a demon, uncomfortable.

He’d not liked the feel of the thing, and he decided it was time to use a little of his demonic influence to stop it from running. That’s when everything backfired, and he found himself being flung out the very same door he’d walked into, landing on his arse and tumbling elbow over teakettle, and finally into the position he was now. He groaned softly, finally moving to stand. Brushing himself off, his usual well-tailored suit dirtied by the dirt and dust from the floor, he took a moment to take a look around, Pushing ever-present glasses up over eyes that flashed slightly yellow.]

Right. Either I’ve happened into some corner of Below I haven’t been to in my entire life, or, someone from Above is seriously screwing with me right now.

[He grinned, the corners of his lips curling in a slightly snakelike expression. He put a thumb and a forefinger to his lips, letting out something of a piercing whistle. Moving about the train station of search of someone—anyone.]

Employees? Conductor! Grease monkey, is anybody here? So long as I seem to be on holiday from Earth, I could go for a good glass of wine and something good to eat.

Hey!

[He yells again. Expecting someone to answer.]

Third Person:
Yellow, piercing eyes gaze out from the leaves of a particularly beautiful, fruit-laden tree. The eyes of what would later be considered a demon, but, right now with the world so fresh and new, he could hardly be considered such. He was just a number, in this great new game called life that had taken seven days to create. Or that’s what the book says, at least. No-one really knows for sure, after all. But the guess was that it was somewhere around 4004 BC. Nevertheless, these amber demon’s eyes sat on the face of a rather dark-scaled, streamlined creature that had recently been named a snake. And he was sitting on the branch of this aforementioned beautiful tree. It had been deemed the Tree of Knowledge or some such rubbish by the big bossman upstairs. The snake had, many hours before, heard the ‘big boss’ tell his new little toys, the first man and woman on earth, to never touch the fruit of the tree.

Disappointing, really. In the snake’s most honest opinions, the tree was the most attractive out of them all, and the fruit smelled the best. Not that he’d ever eat it or anything foolish like that. But what made him think about it the most, was the fact that the human woman, or, Eve, as she had been named, had been hanging about underneath the thing for quite a long time now. Large eyes examining the forbidden fruit with a longing, almost curious look. She knew she was disallowed to touch anything on it. But what was the harm in looking? The snake thought it was foolish. It was just fruit. And it was just one tree. What could really be the harm in having a meal from its branches?
The snake decided to share this opinion with the woman. Despite the fact that he knew it would likely be something of a bad idea.

“Hey, you.” He spoke, a sort of cheeky look on reptilian features. “Yess, you. Did... God say ‘You must never eat the fruit of any tree in the garden'?” he queried, looking her up and down with an almost crafty air about him. She responded; telling him that they were allowed any fruit, save for from this tree, lest they would die. The snake let out something of a laugh in response. "You certainly won't die!” he scoffed, flicking a forked tongue out from between his teeth. “God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened. You'll be like God, knowing good and evil." If a snake could shrug, surely he would have. He watched with careful eyes as she seemed to agree with this, long, thin fingers reaching to pluck one of the forbidden fruit from near his tail. A crafty smile moved up his face. Perhaps tempting humans, even the first humans on Earth, was far simpler than he had imagined.

CHARACTER
Name: Sirius Black
Canon: Harry Potter
Timeline: During the war, before James and Lily's deaths.

Personality:
Due to the fact that his friends are the only real family he has, Sirius will do anything to protect them, both from physical and verbal attacks. He always seems uncaring and aloof to everything around him, largely due to his arrogance, but Sirius can actually be very perceptive, and truly is concerned with the state of things around him. He’s not one to stand by and let some injustice happen to others, although this is a part of the hypocrisy that laces his personality as he, himself, often performs injustices towards Severus Snape, though he’d never admit to it.

Sirius’ arrogance stems largely from the fact that he is a gifted student, with things coming very easily to him; this combined with his good looks have given him an arrogant streak that some people have a hard time looking past. Other than the obvious tendency to be a bit of a troublemaker, the things that get him into real trouble are his stubbornness and his explosive temper, the only things he ever had in common with his family. Generally speaking, Sirius can be fairly laid back and easy-going. Rarely does he ever worry about ‘superfluous’ things - such as grades or opinions of others - and will ignore anything he doesn’t deem ‘worthy’ of his attention, another Black trait.

Sirius is the type who hates anything that could even possibly be considered dull; consequently, he’s always looking for something to entertain him, which often leads him into trouble. His pranks generally only end up in property damage and surprise for the unlucky target, but Sirius has been known to take things too far, as with his near fatal prank on Snape while they were in school.

While he is often considered a big flirt - because he is - his flirting is more often than not just a playful past time: something he does more for entertainment and attention than anything. Unfortunately, it often leads to dashed hopes and broken hearts in the female population (and some males). Despite his flirting, if Sirius were to ever be in an actual relationship he’d be very loyal to that person, considering he’d have to trust them very much to actually consider being with them. The fact his parents betrayed his trust at such an early age has given Sirius major trust issues while growing up. While he may be a social person and have several friends, he only really has a few close friends. Because dating someone requires a lot of exposing of oneself, getting close, and reliability, Sirius would be very picky about whom he chose to share that much of himself with.

First Person:

I didn’t mean for it to be like this.
It was just supposed to be…..I don’t know, it was supposed to be fun, I didn’t think the git would actually try to go and see Remus. I didn’t think he’d go so far; he was supposed to get scared and turn around.

[ He sighs.]

Instead everything just went wrong. Not as wrong as it could’ve been, but wrong enough. It was stupid, I know that now…wish I could’ve thought of that sooner, but, I was just too…wrapped up in the game of it. I could’ve gotten Snape killed, not that I care what happens to him, but, what that would’ve meant for Moony…it wasn’t worth it.

The worst part isn’t knowing I was a stupid bloody twat and it’s not the things James and Remus sad to me…it’s the fact they’ve stopped saying things to me. It’s like….I don’t exist anymore…and I hate that feeling. But not as much as I hate the fact that I know I betrayed them. For that reason, I know I deserve what I’m getting…I just wish I could change the whole thing.

Third Person:
Sirius stared out the window in the 7th year Gryffindor boy’s dorm. This was it. Most of his things were already packed away and ready for when he and the rest of the Marauders get on the train the next day. This was his last night in the place that was more of a home than anywhere else ever had been. Sure, he wasn’t going to miss the rules and most of the teachers, certainly not the homework, but those were only a fraction of what he’d done here.
Staring out over the grounds of the school, watching as some people lay out on the grass or near the lake; it only served to remind him of all the adventures he’d been through with James, Remus, and Peter. He’d miss it. The nights of the full moon, laying out under the tree by the lake, sneaking around at night, trying their damnedest not to get caught, there were just too many memories. He’d miss Hogwarts.

However, he still had things to look forward too. Yeah, the war was coming, it was one of the hottest topics on everyone’s mind, but that didn’t mean Sirius couldn’t think of some of the good things he had to look forward to. He’d never have to go home; he could even get his own place if he wanted. He and the others could go visit each other anytime they wanted, especially once Sirius finished his bike.

It might not be perfect, and there were definitely things about being a ‘kid’ that he was going to miss badly, but at least there was some hope and anticipation when he looked out at the horizon.

“Shouldn’t be so bad.” He smirked and stood from the window seat. Might as well finish packing.

Personality: Upon first meeting Lithuania, most will see him as a shy, polite kind of guy whom they can sense they'll get along with. He looks plain, not threatening, average at best on all levels at first glance. He's a nice guy and easy to mesh with, and though Lithuania is a bit on the introverted side, he's quite popular in his own right, just because people tend to have a fondness for him. He's not quick to anger and mild-mannered in most situations. Do him wrong? He'll be hurt, of course, but your transgressions will be forgiven in his own way, though it may take a while (though probably not). That's not to say he forgives and forgets, however. He carries a lot of memories with him; it's hard not to when you're a country. He might not always say he forgives someone, but the relationship of whoever has troubled him will resume to normal quite quickly, such as with Poland and his aggravation towards him that normally lasted no more than a minute or two. Lithuania tends to look for the best in people and he's blind to a lot of faults, whether by density or just selective realization, or both. He's not necessarily trusting, though, and he's been done wrong a few too many times to just let his guard down so easily. He chooses who he's comfortable with, and it shows. He's polite and congenial, more apt to be formal with acquaintances. When Lithuania is with people he's closer to, or at least more familiar with or used to, there's an obvious air about him that exudes a bit more familiarity and that he's more relaxed.

Concerning his emotions, Lithuania may be easy to read, but he keeps most of his emotions on the inside, not really openly admitting to a lot of the feelings he has. Normally it's plainly obvious how he feels, at least to more perceptive individuals, but he never out-rightly states how he feels and internalizes a lot of his worries and concerns, but only when it comes to himself. He'll continuously fret and fluster about something, enough to cause him great stress and probably an ulcer or two; he doesn't want pity or anyone to dote on him in times of need. More than anything, he wants to be independent. He's got it all under control. It all comes with being a country; he has a strong sense of independence and the ability to do things himself. Lithuania is a private person, unwilling to share the hardships he's faced, not even his best friend.

A bundle of nerves, Lithuania is always thinking about something. When living with Russia during WWII, he constantly worried over whether Poland was going to get invaded, whether Poland was ready for battle, whether Poland had any kind of defense. It's shown that he worries about his own safety, Poland's well-being, his brothers' (Estonia and Latvia) safety (though their relationship is a little lop-sided; Estonia and Latvia seem to hold him in higher regard than how he sees them, though he does have feelings of concern for them), and even how America is doing. He's nervous in general and is like a mom and housewife rolled into one, always concerned about the general state of those close to him, enough to take a lot of loads onto his own shoulders.

He likes to take care of those he cherishes too, unafraid of taking on more than his share of the work, though it's something he doesn't necessarily choose for himself sometimes, and he might complain about it a little along the way. He does find enjoyment and fulfillment in it, though, as seen with taking care of the laid back America after World War I. When forced to do things he doesn’t like or agree with, such as doing Russia’s bidding or being subjected to one too many of Poland’s whims, he doesn’t enjoy himself nearly as much. Lithuania is also kind of indebted to and knows a lot of countries, what with being moved around a lot and having to have a little assistance to stay afloat. Once, upon seeing Japan, he thanked him profusely and was very congenial towards him, all because Japan supported him a little during a tough time, though the gesture wasn't reciprocated. Though he likes to try to stay within the bounds of his close friends and brothers, he's a decent guy who likes those who help him and works well with them.

With all that concern and worry comes a bad spell or two. Though Lithuania is resilient, he's by no means optimistic. He knows that he’s still alive and now that he’s self reliant, it’ll all be okay in the end...maybe. His pessimism isn't true pessimism, just that he knows (based on his history), that bad stuff happens and he needs to be prepared for things. Lithuania's constantly got something heavy on his mind, and with people like Poland and Russia in his life, he's going to have a freak out occasionally. These range from annoyance to downright panicking, depending on how far he's pushed and the severity of the issue. He deals with a lot of stress, strain, and has had a hard time coping in the past, so he’s a little on edge, and one can’t really blame him. It's taken a toll on his body as well, and it's known that Lithuania has his fare share of stomach problems and "colds" (aka the economy isn't doing so hot). It's hard for him to be comfortable somewhere right off the bat. Since he was young, he's stayed close to only a select few people, namely Poland and his Baltic brothers, Estonia, Latvia, and Belarus (though that’s certainly debatable on her part). Though he's capable of getting close to others, he'd rather be with one of them than anywhere else and won't necessarily go out of his way to make friends, no matter how personable he seems. As a side note, it's important to know that Lithuania has only gotten really, legitimately angry once, arguably twice. It wasn't directly said to the aggressor in question, and he recovered quickly. His fuse is long and only a spark when it does finally light.

CHARACTER
Name: Lucien Iyesterius

Age: He appears in his mid twenties, but in truth he’s very old. He doesn’t disclose how old, and in truth he’s not completely certain when he was born anymore. Generally speaking, he’s probably around 800 to 1000 years old.

Appearance: Lucien is about six foot two inches, with an extremely fair complexion and a moderately muscular build. He’s obviously trained his body, and upkeeps his build with constant exercise. His hair is a natural fiery red, though the ends are preferentially dyed an orange-yellow color, giving the illusion of flame-tipped hair. He happens to like his hair that way, not that he’s particularly vain. His eyes are bright emerald green, and his smile is just as electrified as his eye color. Were one to look well enough, they would notice the pointed edges of his canines peeking just past his lower lip. Lucien Iyesterius is a vampire.

His clothing is neither overly simple, nor greatly extravagant. He tends to wear dark, form-fitting shirts with breathable pants, along with hardy boots. His favorite coat is bisected at the back, allowing the attachment of a sword to his belt. He wears the sheath of his blade horizontally during training, and as he is left handed, the hilt faces this arm. It’s easier for him to draw this way by now. The man also has a scarf which he is fond of, black in color, and he usually wears it as an accessory.

Lucien carries himself with a confident air. He doesn’t particularly look down on people, but neither does he think of himself as less. He walks with an easygoing gait, and is very expressive, particularly with his facial expressions and his laughter. He can also be loud with his arm movements when he wants to be. He has a Scottish accent, but it isn’t extremely overpowering. He makes himself understood when he wants to be understood. Every once in a while, especially when under some influence, his accent will become annoyingly thick.

Chosen PB: I do use game character images for Lucien, from a moderately rare game known as Tales of the Abyss (of the character Luke fon Fabre). As there have been no applications I have seen for any of the characters from this game present, I don’t feel there’s too much a problem using them.

Personality: Lucien expresses himself with a sunny disposition, and doesn’t tend to be so much the pessimist as the realist. This is because in his world, he is a very special sort of trader; the trader of not only goods, but information. Being so old, he has acquired the ability to be bright and charismatic for the job. It should always be noted, however, that because he is an information bank, he will learn about you, and he will trade information for his benefit. It’s nothing personal, it’s just how he’s gotten along for years. Under the farce of his superficiality, the man is actually pretty cold and calculating. It goes hand in hand with his realism, and he will tell you, when pushed, what you need to hear.

Lucien’s longevity is granted by his existence as a vampire. Born and turned in Scotland, he’s become the son of the world, well-traveled and well-learned. He has very good memory, which has allowed him to learn many languages, several if only in understanding. He likes knowing what people have to say about him. Regardless of such, he’s the best at English with a prevalent Scottish accent. And when he doesn’t want you to know what he’s saying or he doesn’t feel like expressing himself in a universal language, well. He’s not above switching to a language few will understand at all.

With his bright and cheerful personality—and also a token of his age—Lucien has become an extremely patient person. He will take little insult to anything, and he’s not terribly patriotic. The only way you might get a rise out of him is if you pull something from his past and lay it before him. This is incredibly difficult, as the man is impossibly secretive and doesn’t share information unless he is given equal return. That being said, he does have a breaking point, and it would be a blunder to reach it. Not only is he a vampire, but he is classified as an Elder Vampire in his world, given how old he is, and he does indeed have a great amount of power granted by age. This is, of course, barring the fact that he is Scottish, and that by heritage, he’s been taught that physical prowess is a desired trait.

Lucien has a secretly mischievous side. He likes to play tricks on others, in a somewhat playful manner. There’s something serious about setting a tripline for someone to stop them from finding you, but also something amusing from seeing them hang upside-down by an ankle. It satisfies him to catch people in his interesting traps.

World Information: Lucien is a part of a semi-post-apocalyptic world in which vampires have run over the earth and overhunted human beings. There are now few to feed the hordes, though Lucien is only lightly affected due to how rich he is and how long he can go without having blood.

Re: [OC] Lucien Iyesterius | Not Reserved | 2/3

[personal profile] scottish_database 2012-03-25 04:02 am (UTC)(link)

History: In his world, Lucien Iyesterius is the go-to man for anyone, human, vampire, and otherwise, seeking information. His home is outfitted with a pair of Cray supercomputers—somewhat excessive to some, but he doesn’t think so—as well as a vast multitude of terabyte drives all interconnected to several monitors and other input connections. From this workstation he can organize all of his findings into vast, categorized databases. He rather likes it. It’s a step up from the handwritten historian approach. For a price, he’ll be willing to impart a piece of his immense database to you. Or if you’re bartering for something else, he’s definitely a man who knows how to find things, and he’s good at making decent clothing if he must, as well as trading for rarities from around the globe.

Lucien keeps to the British Isles pretty regularly, mostly because he likes the feel of being close to home. This is because he was, before being Turned, born Scottish. His life as a human is one of Lucien’s best-kept secrets, but he will at times admit that his heritage from previous generations was not strictly Scottish…as well as that he was born somewhere in the Highlands. That’s about it. Anything else that can be gained of his habits and such is relatively recent and has to do with his aforementioned profession.

Because of said profession, Lucien does like being hard to locate. Even within the confines of the British Isles he’s hard to pinpoint because of how often and spontaneously he’ll move. If you find him, you deserve the information he has. He does run a website upon which he will offer those who are of an inquiring mind a chance at his database. Be ready to pay very well, information on your enemies doesn’t come cheap? Why?

Well, when one imparts weaknesses and other unsavory information on an adversary, it tends to create enemies. Lucien has a great deal of those. While he’s not a coward, he’s also not stupid and doesn’t wish to get into a brawl if he can help it. His livelihood is extremely important to him, and it has been threatened before. One of his greatest enemies is the vampire Syphus Alsheer, and coincidentally, Syphus is also an Elder who blooded a vampiric anomaly, one who Lucien has kept in tight contact with. The two play a dangerous game with each other, as Syphus is the most powerful and feared vampire of their era, a title which Lucien doesn’t care to contest him for. He’s had his chance, and he has a scar on his neck to remind him of why he hides from others while selling his skill of gathering information. This is why he tends to wear his scarf, or high-collared coats and shirts.

Dubbing himself as the “Child of the World” is no small title. He’s traveled across the globe for centuries and lived in every major country at least once. His favorites include Scotland, England, France, Canada, Singapore, Italy, Norway, and New Zealand. He tries to steer clear of the United States. So much mess there, and waaaay too many young upstarts.

In his long life, Lucien has learned many skills. Swordsmanship, gathering information, making weapons and clothing…and customer service, of course!

Strengths/Weaknesses: Lucien is smart, well-educated and worldly. He can lift heavy objects that no one else would be able to, and carry them long distances if needed. He’s also charismatic and likeable.

Unfortunately, when he takes a shine to you he does like having a little fun at your expense. And he is vindictive, rather like a cat. So if you bother him, he’ll play tricks of a far nastier sort on you.

With his charismatic nature comes a sense of chivalry. Both combine to make him rather persuasive. He needs to be, since he only feeds from willing donors. No point soiling your hands when people pay for what you know, right?

Because of his chivalrous nature, he feels a need to protect those weaker than he is, which can prove a fatal distraction. And whenever he is not feeling chivalrous, he can be cold-hearted and collected. He isn’t above suggesting something that will further his ends, or being the one who says what no one else wants to hear.

Lucien is, regrettably, a slave to his hunger for blood, however loose. If he loses too much blood, he will inevitably fall into an barely controlled, if at all restrained, hunger. And if he has been fasting, the smell of blood will be an annoyance.

Abilities: Lucien has an eidetic, or “photographic” memory. Whatever he sees, he remembers. He doesn’t advertise the fact that he can remember, especially since despite having this photographic memory, he has trouble remembering vivid detail in several events. This is probably because of how long he has lived. In fact, he speculates that there are a few things he has suppressed or forgotten altogether from his deep past to make room for more information, which is why he very much enjoys his database.

In addition to his memory, Lucien is also gifted with superhuman speed and strength. He’s faster than a cheetah by far, and many times stronger. Moreso when he’s fed.

Lucien is very well-versed in swordsmanship. He’s a little less skilled in footwork, but makes up for it in sheer power and speed. Because he’s left-handed, his tendencies are flipped, something he finds has thrown off previous foes.

On the subject of feeding, he is able to suppress his need for as long as a month without feeling heavy effects. If necessary he will abstain for anywhere between then and half a year. He becomes sluggish by one month though, so he tends to hermit around his home when he needs to fast.

As well, he can withstand grievous injury and heal fast. His healing abilities when well-fed are extremely accelerated, and mortal injuries will not kill him so much as incapacitate him for up to a day. Unfed, he heals slower. It can take up to a week or more to heal from injuries. He hasn’t healed from a full decapitation before, and he’d rather not test if that’s possible.

CHARACTER
Name: Jacqueline Tisch
Age: 24
Appearance: height: 5'3"
eyes: golden-brown
hair: bistre

In daylight, Jacqueline's attire tends to be understated. She's rarely clad in jeans, preferring leggings and skirts, and all of her shoes have heels, to making her seem just a little taller. A scarf completes her attire in the winter, and a fashionable hat is the topper in the warmer months. When out for some sort of Event, her gowns tend to be subtly glitzy and curve-hugging, showing off her form without overdoing it.

In the bedroom, however, all bets are off. The attire available in her spare closet ranges from elaborate corsets to leather thigh-high boots. Behind closed doors, the girl revealed is as different from the daytime princess as one could be.

Chosen PB: Olivia Thirlby

Personality: On the surface, Jacqueline is every bit the demure, socialite princess that her mother always wanted her to be. She's soft-spoken and quiet, with a smile that dazzles in the brief moments that it lights up her face. She tends to listen more than she speaks, and she's more than happy to let people talk themselves to happy death in their futile attempts to fill the void of her silence. (More than one plaything has condemned herhimself to a night of rough punishment because of their overdeveloped need to babble.) She's one to observe, rather than one who needs to be center stage. It gives her more chances to hear all about all the weaknesses someone may or may not have.

She also hoards gossip like a dragon with treasure. Many of the 'pets' she's owned in the past were claimed specifically because they had connections, or because they knew how to ferret out the right rumors and discover the truth under the lies. She likes to be 'in the know', and she'll take great lengths to make sure she is...and occasionally will go even further to ensure that the number people who are aware of how much she knows are kept to a minimum. It's one of her favorite types of power, and she wields it with a subdued caution, using the tidbits of truth she has like unusual currency, buying and selling them at her whims.

In the safety of her own dungeon home, she becomes a different creature entirely. She's very exacting and demanding on her toys, and is prone to bouts of ecstatic rage whenever one of them fouls up. A mistake - any mistake - merits punishment, and her punishments are creative, cruel things. More than one former toy bears scars from a round or two in the second bedroom of her luxurious apartment, and there are plenty who have underestimated her and despaired for it. The Mistress in leather is nothing like the princess in public, and woe unto those who think otherwise...

World Information: Jacqueline came from an alternate earth that is essentially just like the world we live in, with supernatural quirks. There's possibly some supernatural blood in her, and I'm gonna leave that a little up in the air so it can be developed - or not - as the mods/her interactions with the world/etc. see fit.

History: Unlike many socialite couples in Manhattan, Muffy & Edward Tisch were very happy with each other - they met in high school, and married with the blessings of both families shortly after college - and the persistence of their passions are evident in the number of their children. More than two seemed unusual in high society, yet Jacqueline was the third born of the pair's romantic moments, the first girl in the family, followed shortly by her younger sister. Lined in a row, the four Tisch children were split in coloration and hue almost right down the middle - James and Jacqueline resembling their father, with dark hair and brooding eyes, and Parker and Alyssa mirroring their mother in their blue-eyed, blonde-haired visages.

So while Jacqueline was surely spoiled, as are most of society's children, she never felt the privilege of the spotlight as strongly as many of her schoolmates. James, of course, was appointed heir to his father's company when he was still in the crib, and Alyssa would always be 'Mommy's baby girl'. Even Parker seemed to earn more attention than her, with his near-genius IQ and his dazzling academic career. In the end, Jacqueline was just lost in the shuffle - or as lost in the shuffle as a high-born girl can be.

Jackie didn't mind. With even the eyes of the media focused on all but her, she found herself capable of moving through the tides of current affairs unnoticed, a quiet girl in the background while the spotlight focused on the dazzling players main stage. It afforded her a special sort of anonymity, gave her leave to indulge in the sorts of things that would have made society gasp, if they'd only been paying attention. All she had to do was be careful and cautious, and the whole world was none the wiser. When she was little, this meant sneaking out (with the chauffeur, of course; not even at the age of ten was she dumb enough to wander Manhattan with some sort of guard) and exploring Central Park; as she got older, it meant sampling the darker clubs downtown and finding the secret parties that raged in Brooklyn. Unlike most people who get involved in such scenes, however, Jacqueline continued to maintain the appearance of 'socialite princess' in the light of day. It made maintaining her two-faced lifestyle so much simpler when nobody asked questions.

When it came time for college, it was taken for granted that she would attend the same prestigious college that her father and mother had, and her brothers before her. Her arrival wasn't marked with any fanfare - she was not the first legacy to darken the hallways, and she would be far from the last - but there were dark groups here, fraternities and sororities that met in the middle of the night and practiced things not-quite-legal. One of them was a twisted sort of sex-cult, and apparently all of her family had been part of it before her. To learn of it was a bit of a shock, but she welcomed it. It was a little like being back home...except now, she was old enough to take control of who she wanted. After all, she'd seen several times the interactions between Dominant and lesser, and now, she was going to have a chance to sample things for herself. It was like a dream come true, and little miss Jacqueline has no desire to see her dream undone.

Jacqueline, of course, graduated with honors, though not a single member of her family watched her receive her diploma (something that isn't very unusual in the world of the social elite). Some of her closest friends escorted her to the train and wished her well when she boarded for Manhattan. Having had a long day, she tucked her head against a pillow, and decided to take a nap on the short ride back to the city. It was to be her first day as the socialite princess her mother had made her into, and she was going to enjoy it.

When she woke, the train had mostly cleared out, and it was pulling into the station in Ruby City. Now she just has to figure out why she - the most normal of the norm, in comparison to the other 'colorful' residents of the city - was brought here...

Strengths/Weaknesses: strengths: calm, thoughtful, observant || weaknesses: soft-spoken, inflexible, overtly harsh
Abilities: As of right now, Jackie is a very boring human, though she weilds a mean whip. This could develop into more later on, if something triggers her; but that's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

First Person: I'm not sure where you're going with this. [Jackie shifts uneasily, eyebrows arching high on her brow, watching the man before her warily.] I mean, it's not as if I've propositioned you.

[The silence drags on to the point of being uncomfortable. With a bit of a sigh, the girl shifts her bag from one shoulder to another, to make available that well-manicured hand, which comes to rest on her hip. Full lips pursing into a frown, she shifts again, resisting the urge to begin tapping her toe obnoxiously against the ground. This is taking much longer than it should, and she's damned tired of having to wade through this amount of crap, just for a drink.] Look, it's cold out here, and these heels are murdering my calves. Do you know what it's like? Standing around in heels? [She stares up at the man in front of her, doing her best to glower. She's not exactly used to being denied what she wants, and it's starting to irritate her - fire is evident in her dark eyes.]

I don't know who you are. [Her shoulders slump, and she huffs out another sigh in exasperation, blowing her bangs out of her eyes. Naturally, they flutter for a moment, only to settle right back down where they were, partially obscuring her eyebrows and veiling that angry glare, which she fixes firmly on the face of the man barring her way.] But there's no cause to keep me out of here. Now move, or I'm liable to get upset.

Third Person:

Jackie's heel clicked against the wooden platform of the station as she stepped off the train. Her breath came out in a puff of white steam, and she shivered... more due to the unfamiliar scenery than any actual chill the cool outside air may have brought her. Though she'd dressed warmly, she was a New Yorker at heart, and a touch of cool in the air wasn't anything to be afraid of. The alien feel of her surroundings, however, was. This was new, unexpected - and most definitely not where she was supposed to be. Hazel eyes flicked nervously over what was before her: a foggy last stop for the line of a train that was most definitely not the one she'd entered back in Massachusetts. Immediately, almost instinctively, she began checking over herself, looking for signs of foul play. No obvious puncture wounds, no grogginess. Her reactions and reflexes seemed normal - hell, she even checked her pulse with a quick flick of a hand to her throat. No, no foul play. So...what? And where the hell was she?

Her gaze was drawn (finally) to the poster directly in front of her, and her hand slipped into her pocket, which contained the watch she'd found in the seat next to her on the train. She'd had every intention of turning in to some sort of 'Lost and Found' at the train station, but now, with the realization it was hers, she resisted the urge to slide it out of her pocket and confirm that it worked as it should. Rash movement seemed like showing weakness, so she focused instead on slowing her heart rate, on calming her breathing. Make yourself known. Well, if that whole damned thing wasn't ominous, she wasn't sure what was.

With a shake of her head, she curled a hand around her suitcase and began to walk swiftly towards the stairs that she assumed led down and away from the place where the train had dumped her, the wheels of her single carry-on clacking over the boards. She wasn't sure of the rest of her substantial luggage had been magically transported by whatever means to the train that had brought her, and she wasn't ready to find out. Dainty hands politely waved away any that approached, be they other newcomers or the volunteers who were patrolling the worn platform. No, she wasn't prepared for this level of interaction...and she wasn't about to present herself to the public without having a better grip of what, exactly, was going on. These people didn't know who Jacqueline Tisch was.

She was going to have to show them.

Personality: With the first year of Genji serving as a turbulent backdrop, conflict and constant change threaten to tear the nation of Japan apart as the shogunate and the imperialists vie for ultimate power and control of their nation's future.

Chizuru Yukimura grew up an only child in Edo, daughter to a well-regarded doctor named Koudou Yukimura, who specialized in Western medicine. She often isolated herself as a child, afraid to go out and play with her peers due to a habored secret - she healed remarkably fast. Shallow cuts would heal within moments, deeper injuries hours, or overnight. As such, she imposed upon herself a very sheltered childhood out of fear that upon discovery of her ability, she would be regarded as a monster and would have her family chased out of town. This developed into a deeply-rooted fear of blades and battle. Therefore, she spent most of her life at home with her father, assisting in minor medical procedures and keeping up the house occupied by just the two of them until he was summoned to Kyoto.

Her upbringing and devotion to her father invoked in Chizuru a strong sense of responsibility and filial piety. She is diligent in whatever chores she is tasked with, never considering anything beneath her, and grateful for the opportunity to be useful. She imposes upon herself a lot of limitations, due to her wish to conceal her remarkable healing ability. When her father's daily letters stopped coming, she doesn't hesitate to leave her place of comfort in Edo to search for him, and confirm his safety. She goes so far as to disguise herself as a boy upon her trek to Kyoto in order to avoid any possible confrontation with rabble-rousing ronin looking for an easy target. This desire of hers, however, is eventually challenged when she encounters the famously ruthless Shinsengumi. Upon the discovery that she is the doctor Yukimura's daughter, they offer her shelter in hopes that her search will lead them to the man who was behind their top-secret experiment.

Chizuru spent the next two years chasing dead-end leads and serving as a page for the Shinsengumi. She carries out the housekeeping duties usually done at home at the headquarters with dutiful compliance, grateful for the hospitality and, at times, protection they offered. As she befriends the captains and soldiers, however, she begins to wish she could somehow be more useful. In haphazard attempts to prove herself and help the captains, she often made rash decisions such as throwing herself between several ronin harassing a beautiful young woman named Senhime. Her confrontation was without teeth, however, as she was still terrified of blades and fighting. While she carried a kodachi with her, her aim was to protect it--as it was a precious family heirloom from her long since deceased mother--rather than the other way around. Luckily, she was on patrol with a Shinsengumi captain, and he was able to back her up...but not without subsequent scolding for carelessly putting herself in danger. As often as Chizuru meant well, she often did find herself running into the heat of battle with little more than the kodachi that she was unable--or unwilling--to wield.

In all ways but one, Chizuru is an entirely average girl. She has a habit of mixing up what things she should mull over, and what things she should stop over-thinking and simply act upon. She often finds herself getting up in her head, dwelling on the doubts that so readily plague her at every turn. She has both moments of foolish recklessness and crippling insecurity. When push comes to shove, however, she is often a wild card, serving as a distraction to adversaries and turning the tables so her allies can gain the upper hand. For that reason alone, she is often seen as a good luck charm to the Shinsengumi, and true to her namesake, which literally means "thousand cranes."

In spite of her apparent high-maintenance, Chizuru has several redeeming qualities that make her presence at Shinsengumi headquarters as much a pleasure as a duty. Her friendliness and nurturing nature are a welcome change in a building full of loud, fierce warriors. She does her best to stay out of their way when duty calls, and frequently volunteers herself to carry out the less glorious errands, such as running across town to deliver messages inconspicuously. She is free of judgement, willing to put up with each of the captain's eccentricities and shenanigans--from Okita's constant death threats, to Saitou's stoicism, to Harada and Nakagura's red-light district misadventures. While initally withdrawn, once Chizuru is shown a little bit of warmth, she easily opens up and is often approachable.

One of her best qualities, especially in the eyes of the Shinsengumi, is her ability to keep secrets. Just as she kept her healing capabilites a secret for her entire life, she keeps the secrets of the Shinsengumi--namely, that of the rasetsu. Spawned by an elixir formed by her father called ochimizu, rasetsu are vampire-like monsters with supernatural regenrative capabilities. In exchange for this super-human power, however, is the cost of the person's sanity. Plagued with bloodlust for the duration of their unlives, rasetsu are driven to madness unless they are able to satiate their need. The Shinsengumi maintain a unit of these creatures, originally fallen comrades in battle. Outside of the Shinsengumi, Chizuru is one of the only people to know of its existence.

Another secret Chizuru discovers during her time in the Shinsengumi is that of her true origin. She is actually one of the last pure-blooded oni of the Yukimura clan - a now-exinct family of oni, save for her and her twin brother Kaoru, who was separated at a very early age. Shocked that everything she knew - her father, her upbringing, her very own existence - is a lie, Chizuru finds herself aimless, and at the mercy of those who have all the answers...on whichever side of the war they are on.

CHARACTER
Name: Celty Sturluson
Canon: Durarara!!
Timeline: Somewhere in the second half of the anime series. Will review episodes and nail it down to a specific one if necessary, but certainly after her public freakout during episode 11, but before the gang war comes to a head in the series second half.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: There is an urban legend in Tokyo's district of Ikebukuro known as the "Black Rider". A black motorcycle that goes without lights on and makes odd noises, ridden by someone dressed in black, save for their yellow helmet. Some even refer to this legend as the "Headless Rider", claiming that the person riding the motorcycle is not human.

The truth of the matter is that this is all absolutely true. Celty is a Dullahan who has journeyed over from Ireland in search of her missing head. The motorcycle is actually her horse Shooter, disguised via her powers. In the rare occasions where it takes horse form, it has no head as well (this is more thematic, while hers has gone missing entirely). She has lost her memories of her time before losing her head, not knowing where it is, but having a vague sense of where it may be.

Since coming to Ikebukuro and making various connections there, she has taken on the roll of a courier and has acclimated well to her surroundings. She is also a member of a street gang known as The Dollars. Unable to communicate vocally, she does so by typing messages into her phone and showing it to people. The phone itself is a gift of the scientist whom she lives with, and considers it a treasured possession.

She spends a good deal of time online and in chat rooms. She enjoys watching scary movies and alien autopsy documentaries, but usually winds up scaring herself instead. The only thing she fears more than aliens are traffic cops. She also has a concern that splits her main reason for being in Ikebukuro: On the one hand she wants to get her head back, for fear that she may lose herself without it as she is having trouble remembering what it looked like, but at the same time is not sure who she may become if she got it back and had her memories restored.

First Person: [Coming to on the train was one of the more disturbing moments of her brief remembrance. She had been on a courier run....had she? A quick patting down found her phone in her pocket which was reassuring, but that was quickly lost when she couldn't get a message through to Shinra or anyone else. There was nothing else on or around her that seemed to imply any sort of job she had been on.]

!!

[Standing up, she quickly moved through the train car towards the back, following the sensation of the presence of her horse. She found the motorcycle in the storage car, looking similarly distressed. Patting it and comforting it, she guided it off the train and looked around. Wherever this was, it wasn't Ikebukuro.]

Third Person: Celty guided her horse through the streets of this new city, urging it on silently as she took in her surroundings. The motorcycle rolled on, only making brief whinnies that echoed her own discomfort at the sudden change, but as they rolled on through the night they didn't seem to attract too much attention.

What could it have been that brought her here? Anesthetic had proven to be ineffective on her, so it couldn't have been humans. Maybe she'd finally run into another of her own kind? Perhaps this was a clue to where her head had gone...

'...Oh no...it's aliens! It has to be aliens! Aliens would be the most likely to kidnap me, right? Little green men preparing to perform experiments!'

The darkness and shadow around her coalesced into a scythe and she looked around frantically, holding it tight in self defense. After a few moments of nothing leaping out at her, Celty finally got herself to calm down again. She forced herself to put the idea of alien invaders from her mind as she continued searching for some clue of what had happened.

She perked up as she finally found someone else roaming the street and pulled her bike to a stop next to them. Typing quickly into her phone, she then held it out to show them the glowing screen. {Excuse me. Where is this?}

Re: Gamzee Makara || Homestuck || Reserved

[personal profile] leggomahfaygo 2012-04-12 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Gamzee’s Trollian handle simplifies his personality almost completely: terminally capricious. That is, Gamzee is prone to abrupt changes in his mood and behavior. There is a direct correlation between his changes in mood in his sopor supply.

Sopor slime is a green substance that is in Recuperacoons, which are troll beds. Most trolls know that the slime should never be consumed because it does “weird things to a troll’s head.” Unfortunately for Gamzee, he did not have the best Lusus in the world. Instead of looking out for him and teaching him the essential things he needed to know, Sea-Goat spent most of his time out at sea, leaving Gamzee to fend for himself. Because of this, Gamzee began making pies out of the sopor slime at some point in his life. The result of consuming the slime made him the equivalent of being stoned. When he is in this state, he is more relaxed and laidback.

Gamzee is devout to his Juggalo-esque religion, in which he prays to the MIRTHFUL MESSIAHS and awaits the Vast Honk, which would be the rise of the band of rowdy and capricious minstrels on the paradise planet that doesn’t exist yet—with music, faygo, miracle appreciation and copious amounts of special stardust.

From his perspective, the world is full of miracles. From the carbonation in soda bottles to the technology that allows him to communicate with his friends through the computer, everything is a miracle. He chooses this blissful ignorance over learning the truth because it takes away his miracles, as he explains to Karkat:

CG: IT'S CARBONATION YOU IGNORANT DOUCHE.
CG: TRY GETTING SCHOOLFED SOME TIME INSTEAD OF SLURPING DOWN THAT WEIRD SWILL ALL DAY AND FONDLING YOUR STUPID HORNS.

TC: No No BrO, i DoN't WaNnA kNoW, dOn'T eVeN tElL mE.
TC: kNoWiNg ShIt JuSt StEaLs Up AlL tHe FuCkIn MaGiC fRoM mY mIrAcLeS lIkE a MoThErFuCkIn ThIeF.
TC: AnD tHaT aIn'T cOoL.

In this sense, Gamzee does not adjust well to change. For example, in the post-scratch timeline, the combination of running out of sopor slime and Dave showing him the ICP video, “Miracles” was enough to completely push him over the edge. That was when he realized that many things he believed in were a lie, down to coming to the realization the sopor slime was bad for him and that he was both of the messiahs from his religion.

Gamzee’s clown-loving and other eccentricities aside, he has a good personality and a caring heart. He knows that what he believes and feels is perhaps unconventional but, “i'Ve gOt tO BeLiEvE At wHaT My hEaRt tElLs iN Me, EvEn iF It's a fAkE ThInG“ Friendship is very important to him—he is constantly checking up on his friends to make sure they’re okay. (Such as Karkat, whose insults he takes with a grain of salt because that’s his best friend.) In the case of them being upset, he tries to help, although his advice tends to not be useful at all, as it usually boils down to waiting for a miracle. His intentions are sincere, though.

From the point he is taken from in canon, he will still have had some sopor slime left to sate himself, but that will change as he is forced to endure a cold-turkey withdraw of the slime. This will mean that his mood will eventually become very sporadic to the point of him being dangerous to those around him. He is, after all, the Bard of Rage.

CHARACTER
Name: Ventus
Canon: Kingdom Heart: Birth By Sleep
Timeline: Just after meeting Lea and Isa in Radiant Garden
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:

Ventus is the youngest of the three main characters and his original group of friends but he doesn't let it bother him. Instead he learns from Terra and Aqua and even goes as far as looking up to Terra like an older brother. He does show his youth in several scenes such as when Scrooge McDuck tells him to take two grown-ups to Disney Town and he gives the tickets to Terra and Aqua. Not long after that, he is told to go home by both of his friends and he pouts and doesn't understand they're just trying to protect him from harm. Instead of going home as told, he continues to search for them and others for his friendship until the end which could a willingness to prove he is not a kid as he appears to be.

Throughout the game, Ventus is shown to have remarkable courage despite the odds, loyalty to both friends and strangers and curiosity which should get him in trouble. He is seen protecting Jaq from Lucifer when he was no larger than the mouse, helping Snow White through the woods after only just meeting her and fighting off the Unversed for Ienzo even though he hadn't seen the boy before. He doesn't mind putting himself in danger for others, especially Terra and Aqua and will do so even if he knows the risk is losing his own heart.

To Ventus, friendship is the most important thing. It's what gives him his power and his friends' power comes from him. It's his friendship with Terra and Aqua which makes me fight Vanitas in the end and let him forge the χ-blade with his heart. This bravery and selflessness is his greatest strength and his greatest weakness.

First Person:

Hello? Is anyone there? [Ventus had stepped off the train moments before and not long after found the watch. It hadn't taken him long to work out it's functions and wondered if it was simply something that this new world offered. It was a shame he didn't remember leaving the previous one.]

My name is Ventus. I think I'm a little lost. Can anyone help me?

Third Person:

Ventus sat in the Radiant Garden after Lea and Isa had left and thought about the road ahead. Perhaps he didn't need to follow the road Terra and Aqua had taken. He'd always be there for them if they needed him but for now, he'd go his own way.

He wanted to learn about friendship, make new friends and know how those friends valued the concept and his own friendship with them. Standing up, he took out Terra's wooden Keyblade and grinned. He'd meet up with them some point down the line, but for now, this was his own path.

He summoned his Keyblade Glider and smiled, this was going to one fun story to tell when he did finally meet up with Terra and Aqua, and he couldn't wait to create it.

[personal profile] demon_prosecutor 2012-04-27 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Miles comes off as a ruthless and amoral man to some. When the player/audience first met him in Ace Attorney he was a cutthroat prosecutor who was reputed to do anything for a guilty plea. He was shown to request extra tests, even a second autopsy in an Ace Attorney case simply to prove a point and eliminate the defense’s case. He is very stubborn and rarely gives up on his case even when he is clearly losing to the defense. He has shown through his cases to have a very clear understanding of the case before trial starts [in this game’s universe, trials are conducted almost immediately after a crime has occurred] and he uses this to his advantage to prolong the trial and make himself survive a long time in court. The defense doesn’t win over him easily, it’s a long battle. Nearly every case in the series featuring him as the prosecution lasts the full three days allotted for a trial.

Previously noted, it’s apparent that Miles is very smart. In Trials and Tribulations he was noted as a ‘genius’ before he even debuted in court. This is due largely to his upbringing. Contrary to belief that Miles is an evil person, he was simply raised by an evil person masked as a good one. The story goes back to Miles’ childhood [the fourth case shown in Ace Attorney]. He was being raised by his father, Gregory Edgeworth, an astute defense attorney. His father revealed that a rival prosecutor, Manfred von Karma [a legendary flawless prosecutor in the game’s universe] was actually withholding and fabricating evidence to win all his trials. This sent Manfred into a rage and he murdered Gregory Edgeworth, taking his son Miles in as his own. Miles barely recalls the incident but it haunts him to present day. He is triggered into panic by earthquakes [which happened at the time of his father’s murder] throughout the series.

This is all revealed in the fourth case of Ace Attorney. Miles was previously illustrated as a character who wanted a guilty verdict and a perfect record, not necessarily justice. He was shown to withhold certain truths [including evidence, certain possible motives, and the identity of Dahlia Hawthorn all in Case 1 of Trials and Tribulations] for the sake of keeping the defense as ignorant as possible. It is clear he does his ‘homework’ on all his cases and has every possibility accounted for so he can easily withhold information to make his case more convincing. As such he is often shown grimacing or even growling when a witness throws him a curveball and ‘remembers’ something on the stand. However despite being raised by a corrupt lawyer to be a corrupt lawyer, he is still a truthful person deep down.

In the third case of Ace Attorney, the defendant was innocent but the testimony of the last witness, Dee Vasquez, was eluding the Defense. Miles should have simply taken his win and been happy but he objected and demanded the witness testify again, knowing he would lose because of this. He chose to lose in order to reveal the truth. This happens again with Case 5 of the same game in which a corrupted Chief of Police has covered up crimes for years and Miles worked along with the defense in court to question the witnesses in order to reveal the truth; again, sacrificing a win on his record for this.

Miles is very withdrawn, he is a man of very few words outside the courtroom. This is confirmed to be due to his upbringing, having to be ‘perfect in every way’ which leads to short precise statements, as well as his father’s murder. He blamed himself for that crime his whole life and seemed to be punishing himself in a way. He rarely ever said anything more than what was necessary as a professional. The end of Ace Attorney shows him yelling ‘whoooo’ for New Years after being misinformed about customs, and then walking away humiliated. He is a thorough man, but a wounded one, one that seeks truth above his own success.

Re: [CANON] Tom Riddle || Harry Potter || reserve || 2 of 3

[personal profile] you_know_who 2012-04-27 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Born and raised in an orphanage, Tom knew from an early age that he was different to the other children, able to perform feats of magic that he used to torment and torture the other orphans, to the point that he once took two of them to a cave and performed an act so horrifying that they were traumatised into silence. Even before enrolling in Hogwarts, Tom was capable of Legilimency and Occlumency, using his talents to toy with people’s minds while keeping his own shielded. He was also able to ‘speak’ to animals, and is a Parselmouth – possessing an ability to speak to snakes passed down through the bloodline of his mother’s side.

Tom’s personality is composed of two facets – the side the he presents to everyone, and the reality.

On the surface, he would seem to be a charming, handsome and polite young man. He gained a reputation in Hogwarts through his intelligence and appearance of being a model student, seen as ‘poor, but brilliant’. His lack of parents inspired a sympathy in others, leading to him being viewed as brave, with only Albus Dumbledore remaining suspicious of him.

However, behind that quiet, charismatic façade, Tom Riddle is an ambitious, cruel and sadistic young man believing in the superiority of pure-blood wizards and witches despite being a half-blood himself. This hypocritical view comes from his being ashamed of his family, from his muggle father to his pure-blood mother, who he sees as weak and unworthy. He clings to his familial connection with Salazar Slytherin as a conformation of his own self-worth, after discovering that he is descended from the House founder.

Arrogant and megalomaniacal to the point of sociopathic, Tom is possessed of a Machiavellian personality which he uses to its utmost to manipulate those around him. He is a liar, and a hypocrite, often expecting of others what he would not do himself, putting his ‘allies’ into harms’ way and disposing of them like toys when he has no further use for them, having very little concern for the effects that his actions may have upon others – only whether or not they will be beneficial to him. He easily dismisses things which have no (perceived) value, such as softer emotions like kindness and love, a trait which would be to his detriment later in his life.

He will keep his word when it suits him to do so and as long as it doesn’t get in his way, or if the person asking is of a certain level of usefulness to him at that given moment. While he can acknowledge the mistakes that he makes he doesn’t seem to learn from them, and he will become very unpredictable when angry, swinging from calm and composed to an explosion of fiery rage within moments. He becomes uncomfortable, even fearful when things around him begin to slip beyond his control, and is not above cowardice in situations where it would benefit him.

Tom has an almost pathological fear of death, believing it to be the utmost of human weakness. While attending Hogwarts he became obsessed with the idea of immortality and how he could attain it, and he also discovered his lineage and his status as the Heir of Slytherin. It was through this revelation that he found the entrance to Salazar Slytherin’s Chamber of Secrets.

Unfortunately, he has found himself whisked away to Ruby City before he was able to open it…

[CANON] Taokaka || Blazeblue || No Reserve || 2 of 3

[personal profile] tao_is_taokaka 2012-04-27 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Taokaka is a member of the Kaka clan, which are a group of genetically-modified beings who live underneath the main city called the Kagutsuchi. She’s a well-respected warrior, and most certainly one of the strongest members of the Kaka tribe. She comes across as fairly brainless and ditzy, refusing to call anyone she meets by their actual name. Suggesting that she doesn’t have the ability to remember them, or she is just far too easy going to do such. Instead, she comes up with a unique nickname for every person that she meets, basing them on their appearance, or, perhaps even their personality. She calls her teacher and friend, Litchi, ‘Boobie Lady’ thanks to the woman’s quite notable chest, as well as giving ‘Ragna’ the nickname of ‘Good-guy’ based on his personality, as well as the fact that he gave her free food.

Tao is very much a cat, despite her humanlike stature; the appearance of a tail, as well as moveable catlike ears atop the hood she wears are rather hard to miss. Besides that, Taokaka’s only desires in life seem to be to eat well, sleep a lot, and spend time with people who are nice to her. If she isn’t out and about, hunting for food or bugging her many friends for something to eat, she can be found flaked out in any available patch of sun, sleeping her life away. She’s incredibly easy-going and simple to get along with, as shown many times in the series that she will talk to and play with just about anyone. Regardless of appearance, attitude, or even how dangerous they might be. She is first sent out of her village to find and capture ‘Ragna the Bloodedge’ by her elder; a dangerous criminal whose bounty would help the Kaka clan to secure a new home. She finds Ragna, or, ‘Rawrgnya’, as she messes his name up as, and instead of fighting and capturing him, she manages to befriend him and even comes to enjoy his company quite a lot.

Tao seems to be a personification of pure innocence in many ways. A ditzy outlook, forgetful to a fault, and completely trusting of everyone she comes across, she only wishes the best for those around her. Fighting with her natural talent to protect them without any real care, or even thought, that what she could get herself into could be damaging, or even fatal, to her own well-being. So long as she sees reason to fight, she will keep going to protect those dear to her. Though, really, she’d much prefer to just share and eat food with everyone instead of fighting. Fighting, to Taokaka, isn’t something that she really actively thinks about as bad. She often refers to fighting as ‘playing’, going so far to full-on attacking her teacher, Litchi, just because she’s bored and wants something to do. Her extreme speed and stamina usually means she comes out on top, but very often she finds herself easily beaten by those who rely on pure power, like Hazama and Iron Tager, who oftentimes always manage to defeat her in battle.

Despite how brainless Tao often comes across as, she isn’t completely unable to learn. She is able to harnesses a power called ‘Siethr,’ which, described to her by her teacher, Miss Litchi, is a very powerful substance in the air throughout the world. Litchi says only very highly skilled beings with lots of training in the ways of Ars Magus can draw off the seithr in the air, and use it to utilize hellishly powerful spells and abilities. However, with no formal training nor prior knowledge to the stuff, she can use it with startling skill. It’s also notable that anyone exposed to too much siethr are at risk to being tainted by it, and almost always die. However, the members of the Kaka clan are completely unaffected by the negative effects, and it’s suggested that the natural immunity to its deadly effects might be a reason to why Tao can harness its power so naturally. Untrained in the art of fighting, her attacks are extremely unpredictable, her moves lightning-fast and without real skill. She relies on her speed and pure natural instincts to win against her opponents.

Personality:

For you to check on his personality.

Lucifel is one of Heaven’s greatest Archangels, if not the greatest of them. Despite his high position in Heaven, he is laid-back and calm all the time, even at the most desperate moments. He is shown to be cold when it comes to something like emotions or the Grigori, a group of fallen angels. (See the beginning of Chapter 8 and Chapter 1) Aside from that he always appears self-confident and is a sly guy, if not even trickster like. He stops time at some points of the game to explain something. Towards the end of Chapter 2 he is even shown breaking the 4th wall by saying the player could beat the game within a few hours, although this doesn’t happen only in the game but also in the official Manga “Exodus”, where he is seen to be holding a copy of the issue in which the serialization began.

One of the archangel’s duties when descending to earth is to simply observe and report about the progress of the mission to God via his cellphone, during his talks with the Lord he is usually trying to keep him calm and telling him not to worry. The other duty of his is to support Enoch during his mission and he does everything that would serve the purpose by supplying him with armor or a vehicle once. (During the 6th Chapter) He even suggests to serve with a better armor and (after proving to Enoch that his current armor is not good enough) provides him with the best armor he has – along with a pair of EDWIN jeans. It shows that he cares and it’s not only this, also by saying that he “is not going anywhere” after Enoch was told that he is granted immortality. And he keeps this promise, during the whole Chapter 9, which takes ten years; he doesn’t leave his side until he had recovered. Aside from that he is forbidden to interfere. Even though he is forbidden to act on his own accord, Lucifel is able to find someone to use for the purpose of returning Enoch after he fell victim to The Darkness.

In the IC interview from “Flowers for Lucifel” it is stated that he is interested in the accomplishments and development of mankind. Things such like cellphones, umbrellas and modern day clothes like jeans – especially EDWIN Jeans – hairstyling products or buildings fascinate him and hint that he is inquisitive as well. We also get to know through this interview and in Chapter 10 that God’s opinion about him is important to the archangel, it even goes so far that he is offering favors or talks down the other archangels and Enoch (he DOES say that he is impressed of his piety though) when it comes to God’s favor, except his brother Michael of whom he never speaks ill of. It’s either a sign of being a little overprotective of God’s favor, jealousy or he might even be afraid of losing God’s favor on some level.

Due to how he was raised and the lifestyle he lives currently, he can be considered quite socially stunted: uncertain as to what behaviors are normal and what isn't, though Kogarasumaru has helped. He also seems to have trouble distinguishing between topics that are socially acceptable or not, but this seems to be something brought on by how comfortable he is around who he's with.

Originally loud and energetic, as he grew more accustomed to his freedom and Kogarasumaru began to be a higher target for danger, Akito withdrew more into their mind. He became softer-spoken, giving Kogarasumaru his strength through Agito, though his optimism and curiosity remains intact. It could be said that he simply has matured into a young adult, since his personality has calmed down greatly.

Akito is a very informal person - never really bowing in greeting or apology. The extent of his formality extends to suffixes (specifically '-san'), which he tends to give to most people he meets until he grows more comfortable with them. He also tends to speak more properly than Agito or Lind, never cursing or swearing, and often relates things to metaphors - explaining using them as well as smilies much of the time. Additionally, he also comes across as a very practical person when the situation calls for it. For example he is well aware that he isn't strong enough to fight anymore, and so he relinquishes control to Agito without hesitation.

Generally, Akito can be found hanging out with the girls when times are more relaxed; going shopping with them, gossiping with them, and even dressing up with them. When the girls aren't around, he tends to stay quiet and listen rather than engage, though he'll jump at the chance to join in with the boys' antics, such as trashing hotel rooms or sneaking out on field trips.

In terms of interpersonal relationships, Akito is the most easy-going. He is friendly and open to playing along with whatever his peers want him to, and enjoys being supportively helpful - often giving advice in a way that allows the person to come to the proper conclusion on their own. He thrives on the company of others, though he gives up most of the time they have to hang out as friends to Agito for practical reasons. He is prone to being jealous and disdainful at times.

His most important relationships - aside from with Agito - are with Ikki and his "brother". Having been raised since the age of around six (though he would only have been a few months to a year old at the time according to what chapter 300 is saying) by Kaito, he loves him deeply despite the fear he has of him. He would defend Kaito at very high risk to himself if he had to because, even though he was severely abused, he also has many fond and happy memories with his "brother". Once learning of Kaito's real relation to him, Akito is quick to adjust to calling him 'Papa'.

With Ikki, Akito has an entirely different kind of love. He loves to kiss and cling to the other teen, proclaiming the deep romantic love he has for him through affectionate actions and the unwavering support he has in him. Without question, Akito would give his life for Ikki if asked to - and even if he wasn't. If it wasn't for Ikki he would still be locked in a cage, only dreaming of the sky.

With the rest of Kogarasumaru, Akito blends more into the background, prefering to listen and follow/join in rather than chime in and lead, though he makes himself heard when he wants to be. He learnt many of his social skills from his friends - gaining knowledge through watching and mimicking rather than asking. Because of this, his social skills are rather unconventional, though he does his best to fit in due to a want for affection he never received growing up. He seems to throw himself into relationships with others and hope for the best, which is both a strength and a weakness of his.

Agito on the other hand is short-tempered, very intelligent, and aggressive; Agito is the backbone of their personalities and is usually the one in control of their body. He's confident and careful when it comes to Parts Wars, often spending weeks planning out every aspect of a future battle, though he's quick to lose control of his emotions - especially since joining with Kogarasumaru. His tactical genius is unmatched, and his keen senses allow him to seem almost omniscient when it comes to battles... When it comes to interpersonal relationships though, he's pretty clueless.

He prefers to stay by himself rather than with his friends, unless it involves training them/with them, but doesn't venture too far from them; enjoying listening in on their conversations and being able to spout out sharp commentary when he feels like it. The boys of Kogarasumaru enjoy flustering him with teasing and the other normal quirks of friendship, embarrassing Agito to the point where he often lashes out violently, cursing and swearing to make up for it. He's gotten better at accepting friendships since joining his team, originally reacting badly when told by Kazu and Onigiri that he was considered their friend, whereas now he accepts it without question and will go out of his way to help and protect them. He still won't admit to any of these feelings, but his actions give him away to anyone observing.

For all his animalistic quirks, the strongest aspect of Agito's nature is the drive to protect the ones he cares about. He's at his most powerful when he's fighting to protect someone, which is no surprise considering that he came into existence to protect Akito. Underneath his crude and violent attitude, Agito has a very tender heart. This becomes exceptionally clear in recent chapters when he reassures Arthur and Shallot that he will get revenge on their behalf so that they can move on to the afterlife in peace. (See: 1 and 2). He also gives Lind a Fang to ride back 'home' on after the battle between them and Arthur/Shallot, since Lind doesn't have the energy left to walk back into his own area of their mind easily.

Agito's relationship with Kaito is much more complicated than Akito's, as he began to endure the brunt of the abuse after gaining consciousness. If Kaito has favourites, Agito definitely wasn't it. But it was through his brutal treatment that Agito became as strong as he did, and learnt as much as he did. Despite disliking Kaito he does hold a great respect for him. If he had wanted to, he could have escaped WIND years ago, so it says something that Agito actually stayed. As the series progresses it becomes more and more clear that Agito really does care for his 'brother', tending to his wounds after a battle and offering to help him drink when he's thirsty, since his arm no longer works.

His relationship with Ikki is less complicated than Akito's. He snarls and snaps at Kogarasumaru, fearing that being friends with them will ruin them all, but they have none of it - especially Ikki. Agito is often manhandled by him, and though he gripes about it he doesn't respond violently to it as he would in the beginning. In a way, it could be said that Agito somehow became Ikki's pet, of sorts, receiving pats on the head for doing something good, and even going so far as to hand feed him when he notes he hasn't eaten.

Agito cares deeply for Ikki (and the rest of Kogarasumaru) even if he prefers not to show it. He has a particularly interesting relationship with Yayoi, since she has a crush on him and so is around him as much as she can possibly be. Since he noticed her penchant for abilities only Tuners tend to have he began to pay a bit more attention to her capabilities. He's grown used to her presence and somewhat fond of it, though he doesn't return her romantic feelings - he simply views her as a friend, as much as he can admit to himself that any of them are friends. He saves her life during the Orca battle (~ch.185-95) though is unable to bring himself to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, instead opting to use a bamboo stick to blow air into her lungs. After Yayoi proves to be a capable Tuner for him in place of Akito he shows a more active interest in making sure she can defend herself, if only to listen in while Onigiri and Kazu teach her hand-to-hand combat to make sure they don't mess it up.

His best friend is Akira, and even with their complicated past of pain and betrayal, Agito was willing to give it all up in order to show Akira freedom again. It was in the arc where Kogarasumaru fought Behemoth that it really became evident just how loyal Agito is. He spent weeks carefully planning out how to challenge Akira's team in a way that would allow the newly-formed Kogarasumaru to win, and therefore release Akira of whatever duty he felt he had to Behemoth.

Even when Ikki ruined his plans Agito didn't back down, and was prepared to fight to his 'death' to defeat Akira, both freeing his friend from his self-imposed cage, as well as give Akito back the Regalia as his 'first and final gift' from him. After achieving what he set out to do, Agito seemed honestly happy for the first time that we're shown, and the strong, silent connection and understanding between the two Fang Kings is really revealed.

Once you gain his respect and friendship, you're stuck with a fiercely protective 'shark' watching your back.

CHARACTER
Name: Nikola Tesla
Canon: Sanctuary
Timeline: End of Season Four
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: Not applicable.

Personality: Nikola Tesla is an immortal vampire, a result of experiments with the Source Blood that The Five (including James Watson and Helen Magnus) participated in at Oxford. For the better part of the following century, this fueled both his personality and his plans.

Tesla was, for most of the first three seasons, arrogant and convinced of his own genius - though in the latter case the creation of numerous technological marvels such as a cure for a super virus, the ability to artificially create vampires, and a shield to hide vampiric traits from the advanced technology of Hollow Earth. A firm believer in technology and progress, this also leads to a certain rashness in his character, willing to experiment first without consideration of consequences.

Early on, he appeared as a villain - isolation and his desire to resurrect the vampire race had pushed him closer to madness (as well as potentially not using the medication that controlled his bloodlust). This even led him to attack Helen, a woman he professed love for. But as their encounters progressed, and they found themselves arrayed against the Cabal, he became more of a problematic ally.

And despite his arrogance, and willingness to mock those he considers lesser, he still revealed traits of his better side - speaking highly of James Watson after his death, and helping John Druitt annihilate the Cabal after their actions led to the death of Helen's daughter.

In the third season, he lost and regained his vampiric powers (which it turned out he was quite attached to) - but two encounters with other vampires disappointed him immensely and removed his desire to restore the race. With these actions, he became more and more an ally.

By the end of the fourth season, he was a solid ally, though his impulsiveness and arrogance remained. They were mellowed by a degree of respect for his Sanctuary allies. In four years, his personality evolved from villain to impish problem/periodic ally, to somewhat altruistic. Likely this is the result of contact with Helen and the other members of the Sanctuary.

First Person:

[The view that swims into vision is a young-looking man, in an excellent, modern suit. He looks mildly curious, and significantly annoyed, at the change of circumstances]

So I found myself on a train. And you know, I haven't traveled by train since the late 1930s - so something has gone significantly wrong.

[He looks around for a moment, tsking quietly]

I'm afraid I'm going to have to do something terrible to whomever is behind this. [Here, he smiles] That part might be fun, but first I'm going to find out what makes this place tick.

[The smile becomes a grin, and he gestures at himself] Nikola Tesla, by the way. And I happen to be a genius - your system's days are limited.

Third Person:

With a bottle of wine uncorked by his side, Nikola Tesla created. There should have been a fanfare, he believed - some sort of ceremony to such things. But, he sighed to himself, the satisfaction of creating something new in the realm of technology was reward enough.

He toiled in the Sanctuary lab, a rare moment alone. He wondered what Helen and her little team were doing - something about...something, he hadn't really been paying attention. If this worked, he'd find a way to use Worth's temporal technology safely, and the magnitude of that potential achievement held his full attention.

He loved to create, to solve, to innovate - to draw together the gossamer threads of technology into something amazing. He sipped the wine - ah, a rather lovely Merlot - and...wait, perhaps - if he could combine parts of Worth's mechanisms with his own efforts at creating wireless electricity, he could potentially find a way to break through the barriers between worlds. He started to work anew, in another, more interesting direction.

He'd have to tell Helen about his idea - perhaps he'd bring her a bottle of wine tonight, suggesting they enjoy it together. He had persisted in his pursuit of her for years now, and he'd find his way to her heart eventually. Because if he was one thing other than brilliant, it was persistent. He grinned to himself, and worked on.

CHARACTER
Name:Bro Strider
Canon: Homestuck
Timeline: Act Four, after Bro helps Dave get to the Medium but prior to his fight with Jack.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: If Gamzee and Bro have to interact, it’ll probably be concerning Dave and take place off-screen. It will happen at some point, but not initially, as Bro would only intervene with the situation if it got serious enough; Dave’s at the age where he needs to man up, as far as Bro’s concerned.

Bro Strider | Homestuck | Reserved

[personal profile] unironicsmuppeteer 2012-05-05 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Because of limited screen time in canon, most of what there is to know about Bro Strider is found via Dave’s conversations. However, even in the limited time Bro is shown, a lot can be learnt about him from his actions alone. Bro is shown constantly testing Dave, whether it’s through sneaking up to place Lil’ Cal, his most prized puppet behind Dave when he’s not paying attention, creating really obvious pranks such as tricking Dave into pulling down the ladder to the attic, only to be smothered in a pile of puppet.

Despite coming off as an asshole who simply enjoys terrorizing his little brother/ectobiological son, Bro genuinely cares about Dave. It can easily be argued that all of these tests Bro puts Dave under is to make him a better combatant. For example, when Dave needed Bro’s Sburb cards, Bro had him strife for them. Even though Dave lost, Bro gave them to him.

Bro also exhibits characteristics of extreme bravery; he acts valiantly to gives Dave extra time when it is time to get to the Medium, and also fearlessly fights against Jack Noir on a couple of occasions, the latter ultimately leading to his death when Becq was prototyped and Jack Noir basically became invincible.

Apart from being a super cool ironic dude and an awesome brother to Dave, Bro also has some interests that, needless to say, cause him to stand out. His interest in anime is one of them; he constantly wears his pointy anime sunglasses to the point he would probably feel quite naked without them.

The biggest thing, however, is his possibly unhealthy obsession with puppets. His apartment is filled with them, in the most inconceivable places. Some of them play part in the websites he runs—one of which being a pornographic website involving puppets. Taking this at face value, one can easily assume he must enjoy this particular fetish himself—or he’s taking it to an extreme to be “ironic”—or he has no qualms about how he earns money. Or both. Regardless, Bro has no problem discussing things sexual in nature at the most inopportune times.

Bro Strider always does the best he can to look out for Dave. Lil’ Cal might be his best friend, but really, Dave is the only one who truly matters to him. Ever since Bro infant Dave came into Bro’s life, Dave’s been in the centre of it. He wants what’s best for his little brother, but Bro can only provide so much considering their circumstances.

He’s fiercely independent and prefers to do things his way, but when the time comes he is willing to take one for the team. Trust doesn’t particularly come easy for him, either. However, if Dave trusts someone, Bro is apt to as well. That doesn’t mean he won’t give Dave or any of his friends a hard time, though. Bro never misses out on an opportunity to terrorize his little bro.

One a side note, Bro is a bit of a slob, as is apparent in the visible parts of his apartment. However, it’s more likely than not organized chaos, just like the way he organises the files on his computer.
As far as his typing quick goes, Bro types in black courier without punctuation, with the exception of ending punctuation. Red text may be used for emphasis and comic sans for irony, as seen here, where he’s referencing Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff.

Timeline: Act Six, after telling Jake English that he comes from the future.

Dirk Strider | Homestuck | Reserved

[personal profile] thepuppetmaster 2012-05-05 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Although a definite show-off when it comes to the things he’s done – particularly making robots, Dirk doesn’t tend to overplay his personal thoughts and preferences. Like pre-Scratch Dave, Dirk favours irony, but in contrast to Dave does not pepper it with curses, preferring to lean more towards intellectual quips leading to him often coming off as obnoxious. Laid back by nature, he is very invested in the welfare and personal development of his friends, to the point that he will openly insult them (as he often does with Jake, ironically of course) in an effort to change their perceptions. He encourages his friend Jake to be more cynical and sceptical, thinking him too naïve, while at the same time criticising how distrustful Jane is. He will also encourage Jake to work things out for himself instead of relying on him for help, for example when he insists that Jake fight Brobot as a consequence of having wasted uranium.

Dirk’s dream self on Derse has been awake for years, but unlike Dave (who was unaware of his own conscious dream self), Dirk is fully aware and in control of his own. He has spent most of his conscious time on Derse in hiding, while looking out for Roxy’s sleepwalking dream self, and when he finally chose to reveal himself after a foiled assassination attempt by the Batterwitch, he did so in spectacular fashion, publically impaling the agent’s head on a spike and parading it through the streets of Derse. He has the ability to quickly switch between his normal and dream selves, and has been known to enjoy “legendary infinite showers”, presumably taken when he is focusing on his dream self.

He is a fan of horses, having many horse and pony themed posters in his bedroom, and also watches “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”, claiming that it is purely for academic reasons. However, he will admit to liking Rainbow Dash, because ‘she is so spunky <3’. Despite this, he often makes fun of Jake’s apparent infatuation with the character Neytiri from Avatar, calling her a ‘gigantic shitty space furry’. Whether this observation can be taken ironically given Dirk’s already established love of anthropomorphic candy-coloured ponies is anybody’s guess.

Like his pre-scratch self, Bro Strider, Dirk has a big interest in smuppets and puppets in general. Lil’ Cal is his favourite puppet, and, Dirk claims, his best friend. His own older brother had been dead for well over a century before Dirk came along, though he had left the means for Dirk’s survival behind. While he idolises his bro, Jane believes that he is bitter about his successes with Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff. Dirk has a Hella Jeff tattoo, with jpeg artefacts, on his shoulder.

Illustrating his proficiency with robots and computer programming, Dirk is in possession of a home-made auto-responder which is designed to mimic his speech patterns, personality and typing style while he isn’t at his computer. The auto-responder is based on his thirteen year old self, and by the time he is fifteen still retains a 98% margin of accuracy (though this was reduced to 92% after some pressure from Jake). The auto-responder has implied that Dirk has a romantic interest in Jake, which would seem to be backed up by conversations that have been had between the two. Jake, however, seems to be utterly unaware of the fact.

[OC] | Marius Eldritch

[personal profile] blooded_rosary 2012-05-06 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Appearance:

At six feet tall with a muscular, but slim build, Marius is not someone who is immediately intimidating. He has the appearance of a male of around thirty years of age, with dark, perpetually tousled hair and blue eyes. Despite this rather normal description, however, quite obviously appears as someone who is not quite human. He moves with a grace unseen in any mortal, almost seeming to glide rather than walk. His eyes easily give him away, the blue shade of his iris being far too bright and flecked with silver, as if someone had turned the colour saturation up too high. As a vampire, Marius has slightly elongated canine teeth, which can be lengthened when he needs to feed. Under normal circumstances they are barely noticeable.

Living as long as he has, Marius has learned the benefits of adapting to his surroundings and his clothing style reflects that. He would not be found decked out in the latest Armani fashions, but he is always smartly dressed in tailored trousers and smart-casual blazers with open-collared shirts. The vampire doesn’t dress to be noticed – but rather the opposite, for being noticed may lead to attention being drawn to parts of his appearance which are far less human-looking than his clothes. Perhaps unusually, around his neck he wears a small silver crucifix, and he keeps a rosary in his pocket at all times.

When nervous, Marius has gained the habit over the years of poking at his right canine tooth with the tip of his tongue, or biting his lip. He has a very refined way of speech, rarely using contractions such as ‘don’t’ or ‘can’t’, and will occasionally slip foreign words into his English when distracted. His accent is very rich, owing to his age and the number of places where he has lived, and despite being away from Italy for so long he retains a dominantly Italian twang.

Chosen PB:
