CHARACTER
Character Name: Milah
Canon: Once Upon A Time
Timeline: Right after her death.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Milah is what one could consider a “fiery” woman. In canon, we are shallowly given the impression that she is rude and possibly cruel, but there’s much more to her than meets the eye. For that, we need to analyse how she reacted in her story, and her motivations behind her actions.

She was married to Rumpelstiltskin, and, together, they had a son: Baelfire. Near her end, she confesses that she never loved Rumpelstiltskin, meaning that the years spent with him were more of a chore than a loving union. But one can assume that it wasn’t so bad when they started; considering the medievalesque ambient of Fairytale land, one can assume that it was a marriage of convenience, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the “loathing” expressed in her last years was all that long lasting.
Despite all of that, she did her job as a wife and has a mother, and her love and caring for Baelfire is obvious in her actions. For example, in the first scene she appears, in the tavern, her cruel, mocking demeanor towards Rumplestiltskin is completely broken down the second she sees her son. She also mentions, during her last minutes, that she deeply regretted having left Baelfire, admitting that “there’s not a day that goes by that (she doesn’t) feel sorry for that”. Her tone is uncommonly emotional, comparing to the rest of her scenes, leaving us to realize just how much she does love her son.
Milah always had a spirit of adventure, a wish to travel the world and live a life of excitement, which she could never indulge in; her life as a mere housewife left her bitter and angry by the day.
The last drop, however, was when Rumplestiltskin, then still her husband, refused to fight in the Ogre Wars, unlike the other husbands in their village. He became a target for mockery and insult, in turn also shaming their family. This is quite a sore subject, as we see during the tavern scene, particularly when she says she became “lashes to the village coward” while other women became “honored widows”.
Despite all this, Milah’s cruel words seem to stem from her rash, impulsive attitude. In her scene with Rumpelstiltskin in their home, she is much calmer, if upset. Her words sound much less rash, and she even seems to express some hope. Not only does she express that she did not want Rumple to die but to simply have fought, she also attempts to convince him of the opportunity of the three of them to leave the village and travel the world, go somewhere new where Rumpelstiltskin is not marked in such negative ways. However, he gently refuses the idea, which leaves her frustrated.
The next day, she leaves with the pirates she had met the day before, leaving us to wonder if she had already planned to do so, depending on Rumplestiltskin’s answer, or if it was the answer itself that left her to consider that option. The latter seems to be more plausible; she might have considered the idea of running away in order to live the life she wanted, but she understood she had responsibilities, in the very least, with her son. The events of the evening before her “escape” are most likely what finally drove her to such actions.
Her rash is further witnessed in the tense scenes after Hook’s and Rumplestiltskin’s (then known as the Dark One) battle. Seeing her loved one in danger, she quickly jumps into action to strike a deal for Killian’s and her safety, throwing away all other plans. While this is a normal reaction for anyone in this sort of situation, her argument with Rumplestiltskin, while on the ship, is to be noted: while aware of the dangers (or she would not have had to strike a deal to save her and Killian’s life) of angering him, during this harsh exchange of words, she blurts out that she did not, in fact, ever loved him. This results in her untimely demise.
Milah, when not “clouded by misery”, as she was during her years before running away, seems to show a level of professionalism of sorts when dealing with serious situations. After temporarily saving Killian, she quickly helps him back to the harbor and his ship, spouting quick orders to the crew with the attitude a captain would have. The way she speaks and the way the crew quickly responds to her orders leaves us to assume that she had some power and respect among the crew; being Killian’s, the captain’s, lover, along with her general strong demeanor, further makes points to this possibility.

We are mostly shown Milah in tense, negative situations, although it is safe to assume that the years between her escapade and her death were ones of happiness. Milah says she fell in love with Killian the day she met him; with her love of adventure and the tales she must have definitely heard while in the company of Killian and his crew would have obviously lured her attention, but, as we come to find out, there was more to it than just that. With her freedom came love as well, so, despite her regrets and guilt for tricking Rumplestiltskin and leaving him and Baelfire, she finally had the life she wished for.

Milah is, therefore, a strong, powerful woman, capable of getting things done, especially if she situation calls for her hand. But she is also greatly influenced by her emotions, which, more often that not, guide her actions and choices, sometimes in rather negative ways. But she never looses sight of what's truly important to her, may it be her wishes, or those who she loves

First Person:
[ She gasps loudly as her eyes snap open, shooting and sitting. Her hand grips at her chest and, for a few moments, all she can do is gasp for air. Her senses take a while to finally let her register her surroundings.
She is sitting across a seat in one of the train’s cabins. No one else with her, not a soul to be seen or heard. She stands, legs shaking, slowly making her way out of the train and onto the station.

Words roll in her throat but it takes some strain to get them out.
]

Hel-

Hello?

[ Where is she? Where is everyone? Killian, the crew, the ship, the-

Rumplestiltskin.

Her hand is still on her chest, but, at least, her legs seem to slowly remember how to work properly without risking taking a fall.

Is this another trick? An illusion? What has he done?]

Hello?

Is anyone there?

[She needs to go back. There’s no time to waste.]

Third Person:
She calmly strode her way through the city, observing her surroundings. The strong, red buildings that harbored creatures from many kinds and many worlds. She never thought she’d find herself in this kind of place; not even in her wildest dreams.

At first, she was admittedly afraid; it’s not everyday that you’re thrown into a place with creatures you can barely recognize as human, if at all. She thought of this as some elaborate illusion, maybe even some concept of “afterlife”, but it was all too real. She can’t begin to think of how this may have happened, but it didn’t matter now.

She sat at the bar, raising her hand to order whatever she could get. Apparently, money wasn’t an issue; well, that was one of the nice things in this place, she supposed. A drink without payment was a good a perk as any.

All things considered, it wasn’t too bad. One of the first things to consider was that fact that she was alive. She wasn’t alone, either; she found her loved one living here as well, free from harm. Along with him, so was the source of her problems...but only those of the world behind her. But none of this erased the fact she had a whole new world to explore, one of wonders she couldn’t even imagine, even if she tried.
She always wished to unravel the unknown, to travel to faraway places, to sees things she had never seen before. This certainly wasn’t what she expected but, if you looked at it the right way, wasn’t it an upgrade?

These thoughts brought with them a new wave of excitement with them. She had a new chance and new opportunities, all gifts by some mysterious hand of fate. And who was her to look a gifted horse in the mouth?

A smirk took over her lips as she put down her glass. There was no point to look at this in a dark manner. Might as well take what life gives you and make the most of it. The real adventure was just about to begin.

“Barkeep. How about a round for the house?” And she pushed her glass towards him.

CHARACTER
Name: (Sir) Integra Hellsing
Canon: Hellsing
Timeline: OVA III, after the incident in Brazil
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Integra, at her best is a strong leader: calculating, cunning, demanding, fearless, stern when need be, yet caring (as seen shown by her affection and care towards Seras, Alucard's fledgling), and extremely dedicated to her soldiers. At her worst, she is arrogant, brash, cold, distant, indecisive (ex. when faced by having to choose between unleashing Alucard in the inevitable slaughter of innocent humans who only threatened her organization as pawns, or the overall protection of her country), prideful, and ruthless. She has a strong set of morals that she holds onto dearly and is extremely loyal to Country, Queen, and her family name, as well as the Hellsing mission to eradicate evil from the world, yet finds herself in a constant struggle to balance between what she feels is right morally, and what she knows is best strategically for the protection of her Queen and country.

We first see Integra (chronologically) as a twelve year old. She was timid, and scared, running away from her vengeful uncle who was outraged by her being named as the heir to the Hellsing family on her father's deathbed. She flees to the dungeons, and in being shot, manages to awaken the corpse of the powerful vampire Alucard (who is bound to her family by alchemic seals, which essentially serve to restrict his powers, and follow the orders of the current Hellsing heir). Despite her fear towards Alucard upon their first meeting, her courage to stand up to him under her strenuous conditions commands a presence that Alucard respects, and feels a need to protect.

Integra experiences a sort of coming-of-age, gaining experience and losing her remaining innocence as events unfold and the war begins, transforming into a leader with an iron resolution who does not flinch at the first signs of danger, and who gains wisdom through dire losses and betrayals. It is when Alucard became her servant, she grows more confident in herself, and comfortable with her position as head of the Hellsing family and a Knight of the Round Table. She takes to wearing suits, smokes cigars, and acts in a traditionally masculine manner. It is uncertain as to why she takes on the title of 'Sir' (as compared to the female equivalent of 'Dame'), however it may very likely be an attempt to gain equal footing with the much older men she is surrounded by as a member of the Knights of the Round Table.

The point of which I will start Integra off at is after the incident in Brazil, where she has not yet reached her full potential in her leadership, and exhibits decisive tendencies (especially those in the control over her 'pet' vampire), however is starting to live up to her title of the Iron Maiden. It will not be uncommon for her to make impetuous decisions, nor will it be uncommon for her to feel guilt over them.

[personal profile] prosecutingly 2012-12-23 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
First Person: [Example I – Text]
I have to admit, this is all very strange to me.
It’s been a challenge trying to come to terms with my dwelling.
I’m still uncertain as to how I wound up here.
The people here are at the very least pleasant, if not dull.
I hope England isn’t in too much trouble.
But I suppose I will have to make do.
Maybe there’s a purpose to my being here, something I haven’t quite discovered yet.
Possibly I shall investigate around the city.
Perhaps I may discover something intriguing.

[Example II – Action]

Test drive meme. (Note: I decided to change her point in canon after having written the sample. Sorry for the confusion!)

Third Person: It had taken a honeyed tongue to calm Integra down from her little outburst on the communicator. It was obvious she had no desire to be in a strange city, taken away from her home, and organization. What of England, what of her duty to the Queen, what of Alucard and Seras? Too much was going on for her to all of a sudden disappear. “Perhaps there is a purpose to my being here?” she thought to herself.

She took out a small cigar tin from her pocket. As she walked she lit one up, and began inhaling the smoke deeply. Puff after puff, it felt somewhat relieving to her. At the very least, she felt lucky she still had this pleasure.

While she didn’t feel anything threatening, her eyes darted up and down all the streets and corners of the city. One could never be too careful, especially at night. God, she felt as if her years of hunting vampires were getting the best of her.

She stopped, and took a moment to lean against the side of a building. She then removed the cigar from her mouth, letting out a cloud of smoke from her lips. Fact of the matter is, she realized, is that at some point she’ll have to come to terms with living here, gain a tolerance to the people, adapt to everyday life until such a time she can go home… whenever that time may be. She sighed, and took another puff from her cigar, as she walked off to her new home in the darkness of the night.

CHARACTER
Name: Gamzee Makara
Canon: Homestuck
Timeline: Pre-Scratch, pre-sobriety
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: Previously played Gamzee and Bro at the same time; they don't interact at all in canon and should there be a reason for them to interact in game, it'll be done off-screen.

Personality: Gamzee’s Trollian handle simplifies his personality almost completely: terminally capricious. That is, Gamzee is prone to abrupt changes in his mood and behavior. There is a direct correlation between his changes in mood in his sopor supply.

Sopor slime is a green substance that is in Recuperacoons, which are troll beds. Most trolls know that the slime should never be consumed because it does “weird things to a troll’s head.” Unfortunately for Gamzee, he did not have the best Lusus in the world. Instead of looking out for him and teaching him the essential things he needed to know, Sea-Goat spent most of his time out at sea, leaving Gamzee to fend for himself. Because of this, Gamzee began making pies out of the sopor slime at some point in his life. The result of consuming the slime made him the equivalent of being stoned. When he is in this state, he is more relaxed and laidback.

Gamzee is devout to his Juggalo-esque religion, in which he prays to the MIRTHFUL MESSIAHS and awaits the Vast Honk, which would be the rise of the band of rowdy and capricious minstrels on the paradise planet that doesn’t exist yet—with music, faygo, miracle appreciation and copious amounts of special stardust.

From his perspective, the world is full of miracles. From the carbonation in soda bottles to the technology that allows him to communicate with his friends through the computer, everything is a miracle. He chooses this blissful ignorance over learning the truth because it takes away his miracles, as he explains to Karkat:

CG: IT'S CARBONATION YOU IGNORANT DOUCHE.
CG: TRY GETTING SCHOOLFED SOME TIME INSTEAD OF SLURPING DOWN THAT WEIRD SWILL ALL DAY AND FONDLING YOUR STUPID HORNS.

TC: No No BrO, i DoN't WaNnA kNoW, dOn'T eVeN tElL mE.
TC: kNoWiNg ShIt JuSt StEaLs Up AlL tHe FuCkIn MaGiC fRoM mY mIrAcLeS lIkE a MoThErFuCkIn ThIeF.
TC: AnD tHaT aIn'T cOoL.

In this sense, Gamzee does not adjust well to change. For example, in the post-scratch timeline, the combination of running out of sopor slime and Dave showing him the ICP video, “Miracles” was enough to completely push him over the edge. That was when he realized that many things he believed in were a lie, down to coming to the realization the sopor slime was bad for him and that he was both of the messiahs from his religion.

Gamzee’s clown-loving and other eccentricities aside, he has a good personality and a caring heart. He knows that what he believes and feels is perhaps unconventional but, “i'Ve gOt tO BeLiEvE At wHaT My hEaRt tElLs iN Me, EvEn iF It's a fAkE ThInG“ Friendship is very important to him—he is constantly checking up on his friends to make sure they’re okay. (Such as Karkat, whose insults he takes with a grain of salt because that’s his best friend.) In the case of them being upset, he tries to help, although his advice tends to not be useful at all, as it usually boils down to waiting for a miracle. His intentions are sincere, though.

From the point he is taken from in canon, he will still have had some sopor slime left to sate himself, and it'll be handwaved for him to somehow stay that way, whether his high simply continues by some miracle or by other means. As Bard of Rage, he has the potential to be dangerous to anyone without it.

Third Person:
If Gamzee didn’t know any better, he’d assume he’d been here before. He couldn’t assume though, so when he first starts walking around the area near the train station, it was all a giant mystery. The details on his arrival were hazy, but he was certain that because he was here, he was supposed to be here. The sign at the train station reading Ruby City was his only indicator of this place’s name. Unfortunately, it meant nothing to him.

Although it was a curious situation for him, he didn’t linger on it too much. When it was time for him to know the full scope of things, he would. It was as simple as that. Some things looked familiar, some didn’t. Considering his home world looked nothing like this, it should’ve been a clear indicator to him that yes, he had been here before.

His main focus though, was wondering why it was so cold. Being so not warm outside just seemed darn-right unnatural. He wasn’t equipped for it, as he was only wearing pants and a t-shirt. It didn’t take him too long to push against a door and enter a building that was definitely not like any hive he’d ever seen. It wasn’t even a dwelling—it was a clothing store. Clearly, the day was full of miracles. He hadn’t even been meaning to find a clothing store, but here one was, stocked full of jackets and warm things! Oh yes, good things were to definitely come from his new stay in the city.

CHARACTER
Name: Remus Lupin
Canon: Harry Potter
Timeline: In his early twenties, after Lily and James are killed and Sirius is sent to Azkaban.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Remus Lupin is a very tolerant, fair-minded and patient young man, and has retained an ability to see the good in everyone despite the prejudice and discrimination that he has been forced to endure thanks to his lycanthropy. He is a very forgiving person, always trying to keep his judgements until he knows every side of the story, and if proven wrong he will not fight to prove an incorrect point, but rather use the mistake to further his own knowledge. Unlike his school friends, he never partook in the bullying of those such as Severus Snape, but he also never stepped in to put a stop to it – something which he regretted in later life. He will always attempt to remain civil, even with people that he doesn’t really like, and it takes a great deal to push him to anger.

He was probably the most calm, mature member of the group of Marauders, even becoming a prefect in his fifth year, and possesses a near-uncanny ability to guess the thoughts of people around him. This is possibly down to enhanced senses thanks to his being a werewolf. He is also highly intelligent, knowing bits and pieces of general knowledge that become useful in unusual situations, and has a sense of humour that could be described as dry, but is most definitely not dulled by his tendency to play by the rules. He could prank with the best of them, and would say in his later life that Dumbledore’s hope that he could control his friends upon becoming a prefect was perhaps more than a little misguided.

Despite his outward good nature and the bravery that he will often display, Remus suffers with constant and deep-seated feelings of shame about his condition and fear of rejection thanks to people finding out what he is which can often push him into thinking he should back away from situations where he might have otherwise leapt in and defended someone, or stopped something from happening. Trust means a great deal to him and he will have to be sorely pressed to break it, feeling a great amount of guilt when he knows that he has.

He can at first come across as a timid, even nervous individual, but he’s more sure of himself than he seems. Sharp-witted and quick to retort to insults, Remus is in no way a pushover, though ‘passive’ would not be an inappropriate word to use to describe him.

First Person:

[It’s the train shuddering to a stop that wakes him, and he sits up with a start, an unpleasant, nervous twist clenching at his stomach and sending a wave of nausea through him.]

Oh my God.

[He first pinches himself, frowns, pinches himself harder, then lets out a slow sigh and gets to his feet, resting one hand against the window as he tries to peer out. There’s nothing visible past the station platform, save for what look to be soft coloured lights in the distance. Remus swallows, bites his lip, then straightens and gives his lapels a neatening tweak. Alright, Moony, let’s see what you’ve got yourself into now.

The first thing he does when he steps off the train is look for the moon. His eyes squint against the glow and just for a moment his stomach drops... but no. It’s close, but there are a few days yet. The chill in the air eats through his clothes and he pulls his jacket closer around himself, letting out a rough cough. There’s a weight in his pocket, something round and heavy, and he lifts it out, fumbling with cold-stiffened fingers. Ruby City will be greeted with the sight of a slightly confused-looking young man with deep shadows under his eyes, who licks his lips once before he speaks.
]

What’s this… Hello? Can anyone hear me?

Third Person:

The number of times that Remus Lupin had woken in a hospital bed numbered beyond counting. He didn’t like to think about it, especially not at times like this. The moment he opened his eyes it felt as if trolls were hammering on the insides of his skull, and he gave his state of consciousness away by quietly groaning and turning his head away from the light streaming in through the window. Someone muttered an apology in a low voice, and he grunted in response, relaxing as a screen was drawn between himself and the light.

Warm fingers closed around his, and his hand twitched. It was Sirius. He knew that much from the awkward throat-clearing and the sound of his breathing. Remus cracked one eye open. The other boy looked just as bad as he felt and he had to wonder, just for a moment and with a pang of guilt, what kinds of things his friend had needed to keep him from doing last night to have him looking as if he’d been put through a wringer.

"James--"

"We’re all fine."

Remus let out a huff of relief, his free hand feeling across his face for any cuts and bruises. He smiled, then, and shook his head. There weren’t any words for how much gratitude he felt towards his friends for the lengths they’d gone to in order to keep him company. One day he’d repay them. One day, he would.

CHARACTER
Name: Sirius Black
Canon: Harry Potter
Timeline: After having been imprisoned in Azkaban for around a year.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Sirius has a complex personality and over time he changes a lot, though in some ways he really just becomes more truly what he's always been.
He can be a bully and a jerk, even his friends being victims of jokes and pranks that go just a bit too far. Going just a bit too far is typical for him in general. Reckless and not always the most thoughtful, he doesn't often pause to seriously consider consequences.
There is a trend with his traits sometimes being so extreme that even a good thing can turn into a bad one. For example his bravery becoming said recklessness and in combination with his loyalty leading him to run to people's rescue without really thinking it through. Another example is his sense of humour - also used just a bit as a defense mechanism - leading to him saying and doing things he regrets later.
Sirius is intelligent and capable, with a good memory and excellent associative reasoning. He is a schemer, one doesn't become be famed for one's pranks, learn to become an animagus or create the Marauders’ Map without putting some effort in. However, he can be a bit lazy about studying, as he generally tends to avoid all things that he doesn't want to do. Experience has shown him time and time again that he manages just fine without studying. Furthermore he doesn't easily accept authority or take well to discipline, preferring to follow his own plans and motives and be on his own schedule, a free spirit. In fact, he likes to provoke, something that comes from growing up in a rigid environment he didn’t agree with. An example of his revolt is, other than the obvious running away from home at 16, how he put muggle pin-up posters up in his room.
All that talent and the awareness of being good-looking make for a rather over-blown ego, which he does treat in a humorous way, but which is nonetheless very much there.
Despite all his shortcomings, he is essentially a good guy. Like any true Gryffindor, he has a chivalrous streak. He is brave, loyal and protective. Besides that, he is also capable of a lot of love, just like he can hate passionately. The people he loves, as much as they might have to suffer from his bad traits at times, mean the world to him and he'd do what it takes to keep them safe and make them happy.
On the other hand, when he hates he is very absolute in it as well. His dislike for his own heritance, his family that takes so much pride in their bloodline, is the driving force behind his rejection of everything they stand for. Blood purity and resulting supremacy, the Dark Arts, Slytherin,... It's easy to forgive him for his bigotry, just as it's easy to forgive someone's irrational hatred of Nazis, but it is still irrational, even if there might be many arguments in favor of this dislike. Besides, it's undeniable that the consequences he draws from his hatred are often difficult to justify, for example his bullying of Severus Snape – even if he truly wasn’t just an innocent victim. However, actually setting him up to get killed was taking it a bit far. Similarly he mistreated his family's houself, Kreacher, for years, just because Kreacher was loyal to Sirius’ mother. Ultimately this was one of the factors that led to Sirius’ death.
Another negative trait that can't be denied is his hypocrisy. He doesn’t do as he preaches. For example he does say that there is good in everyone and that one shouldn't let hatred or anger role one's judgment, but clearly his own thinking is very black and white, as seen for example by his incapability to think Severus Snape capable of good.

First Person: Hello? Is this thing doing anything?

[The voice that can be heard sounds heavy and rough, as if the man talking hasn’t used it in a long time, not for anything other than screaming at least. Only for a couple of moments his face is visible. Good-looking, definitely, but also looking worn and haunted, with dark rings under his eyes that stand out even more because of how pale he is. Seems like he hasn’t seen the sun in a long while. ]

Oh. Like a two-way mirror. I’m not sure who can hear this… I thought I was dreaming, I was on a train…

[He breaks off, clearing his throat. It doesn’t help make his voice sound any better.]
Where am I?

Third Person: Bound by the Fidelius charm, Sirius could know of the secret, but not tell it to anyone. Only the Secret-Keeper could do that. He had been the Keeper at first, but with the spy in their ranks, with how fewer and fewer could be trusted and with him suspecting that Voldemort was after him in particular, since his friendship with James was well known, he had convinced his friends to change and to put their trust into Peter instead.

Unseemly, harmless Peter, who might not be the bravest, but he had always been loyal to James. It had seemed like a good idea. Who would suspect Peter, when both Sirius and Remus were much more capable wizards, brave to the point of disregarding their own safety? Who would suspect Peter?

They hadn’t.

Sirius saw the mark hover above Godric’s Hallow when he approached on his motorcycle. His chest tightened, but at the same time a single-minded determination grabbed hold of him. As if anything he did could still matter. He had never flown as fast before. Once on the ground, he ran to the open door, his wand out and ready.

Ready for what? He was too late and there was no spell that could protect him from that.

There were no tears when he dropped to his knees next to James’ body. He had seen death before. It was war and they were on the losing side. But never before had it felt like this. As if he was dying himself.
His eyes were still open.
Sirius had to push James’ glasses up into his hair to close them. When he put them back down some strands of his hair were smoothed down with them. He stared at him with too wide eyes and without breathing. James wasn’t supposed to look like this, still and with hair even close to orderly.

His hand was shaking when he pulled his hair free again. He’d have to look for Lily next. Harry…

He had talked them into this. It was his fault.

CHARACTER
Name: Norman Jayden
Canon: Heavy Rain
Timeline: the Fish Tank chapter, after he fails too many QTEs and is impaled on Paco’s desk by the Origami Killer
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a

Personality: Norman Jayden is a highly intelligent man. A profiler with the FBI, he has degrees in not only psychology, but criminal psychology. He’s honed an intuition about people, taking a near-instant dislike to Blake and putting his trust in Ethan despite all of the evidence pointing toward Ethan as the killer. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, Norman is a solitary figure, presenting an aloof and untouchable façade no matter how he crumbles inside. He isn’t married (no ring), and makes no mention of a partner in his internal monologues. He is also the only one of the four protagonists who cannot form any kind of romantic ties in the game, despite his status as the fandom bicycle. Despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that he is on the clock during most of his segments of the game, the overall impression of Norman is that of a man who is married to his job.

He is also very passionate when he believes that he is right, going so far as to lash out when the odds are stacked against him, reporting the actions of the corrupt Lieutenant Blake to his commanding officer and butting heads with Blake repeatedly when Blake’s actions threaten not just the integrity of the case but the safety of the civilians they’re questioning or interviewing. He gets very personally invested in his investigations, going so far as to become downright reckless and careless with his own safety (evidenced when he didn’t take backup in the Mad Jack or Fish Tank chapters, or how it’s possible to kill him in Solving the Puzzle by having him use ARI until his brain fries) in the pursuit of the truth.

He also has his fair share of secrets, including a twifold addiction. The Added Reality Interface, or the ARI glasses that he wears and uses to aid him in his investigations is implied to do heavy, perhaps irreparable damage to his health when overused, and boy does Norman overuse it. He has severe withdrawal symptoms that set in almost immediately when he removes the glasses (Welcome Norman, Jayden Blues, Mad Jack), and which start with tremors in his hands and a pallor to his face, but can become as severe as to include a nosebleed, uncontrollable flashes in and out of the ARI state, and possibly even eye bleeding. The player is given the option to self-medicate by feeding the other monkey on Norman’s back; an addiction to the fictional drug Triptocaine which, when he takes a hit of it, neutralizes the effect of the ARI withdrawal.

His addiction is not just related to his use of ARI as a crime solving tool. Rather, his addiction to ARI seems to be related to his isolated nature, as it’s implied that he uses it as an escape (Jayden Blues, where he’s at the piano), and as entertainment (Welcome Norman; his wall ball score is 21105, and only goes up one point at a time with every successful catch. While it’s unknown how long he’s had ARI, the level of technology implies that it’s not in widespread use, and is a fairly new development, which means that he’s amassed that score in a few months, at most.)

He is an FBI agent, but there are times when he looks at the bigger picture and acts according to what he believes is right, instead of following the direction of his superiors. The best example of this is in the Under Arrest chapter, when he helps Ethan escape from police custody because he believes that Ethan is not the killer, and even if he is, he’s also the best chance they have at finding Shaun alive. He seems to be fairly inexperienced with field work, as evidenced by his reaction if the player makes him shoot Nathaniel. It’s also possible that he just feels guilty for having shot an innocent man, but whichever is the case that decision haunts him through the end of that chapter and into the Covered Market chapter.

He also states that he prefers to have all of the information before him before making a decision, which fits well with his profession as a profiler whose job it is to gather information and to help an investigation by forming a psychological profile of the perpetrator. This view, as well as being the stated reason behind his refusal to shoot Nathaniel (in the inverse to the above situation), can be seen as a contributing factor to his release of Ethan (if Ethan is arrested), and the fact that despite being presented with many opportunities to JUST SHOOT THE S.O.B. ALREADY (Mad Jack, Fish Tank to an extent, The Old Warehouse), he instead piddles around until he is disarmed and thrust into a QTE fight where the player has to fight to keep his ass alive.

Norman also demonstrates a certain level of sass, genre savvy, and sarcasm that warms the player to his cause. Notable examples include answering a statement of ‘I don’t speak “cop”’ with “THEN READ MY LIPS, ASSHOLE, CAUSE I GOT NO TIME TO TRANSLATE.” Almost every time he lays into Blake, as well, is a laugh-inducing line, but the tour de force is when – after the second life-or-death fight that the player has had to go through with him, and the third fight so far in the game – the player selects one of his thoughts to hear and is met with “I seem to spend most of my time getting the shit kicked outta me.”

Norman Jayden knows people. It’s his job as a profiler to know what makes people tick, and it’s because of this that he doesn’t seem to have much in the way of interpersonal relationships. However, he is also deeply troubled himself, no matter how well he hides his addictions, and partly as a result of this and partly because he is so dedicated to his job, he is a solitary individual who turns to ARI as a dangerous escape.

First Person:
[Walkie-talkies and cell phones, Norman knows. Hell, at 34 he even remembers the good old days talking back and forth from room to room or tree fort to the ground through two tin cans on a string.

But outside of sci-fi flicks, he’s never seen a communicator that looks like a watch, and this sure as hell didn’t look like sci-fi. Still, as he presses the buttons experimentally, he nonetheless hears it come to life in his hand.

ARI conditioned him to not feel strange about talking to himself in public places long ago. Whatever the case, he needs to find a place where he can get cleaned up. There’s a clinic highlighted on the map; he plans to head there.]

This is Agent Norman Jayden, FBI. Is there anyone out there receivin’ this? I saw the posters, but I still ain’t sure what’s goin’ on here. Last I remember, I...

[He shakes his head to clear the memory of a blue-lit room, a dead body in a chair, a man with a dark coat, the sting of a sword and the sharp, sharp pain of being stabbed.]

Anyway, I wasn’t anywhere near a train station. Are there any doctors or staff at the clinic right now? I need a bigger patch job than me, myself, and a first aid kit can do.

Third Person:
Thunk.

Thunk.

The sound was as real as the virtual ball in his hand and the virtual wall he was throwing it against, but unlike the weight of the former solid and heavy against the black glove every time it bounced back to his hand, it made no pretence of being anything else. He always thought best when he was doing something with his hands, and he had plenty to think about right now.

Thunk.

About how he should be dead, pinned to Paco Mendez’ desk.

Thunk.

About how he wasn’t, but whether he’d been spared on purpose or accident, he was in no position to continue the investigation.

Thunk.

About whether Lieutenant Blake would wait until after the autopsy to spit on his corpse or whether he’d do it right there at the scene.

Thunk.

About how he hoped Ethan Mars had been right about being able to save his son, because if he was wrong then there was no one left on the police force who didn’t have their self-congratulatory dildo up their ass about pinning the killings on Ethan.

Thunk.

Norman had a lot of things to think about right now.

Thunk.

And all the time in the world to think about them.

CHARACTER
Name: James “Jim” Moriarty
Canon: BBC Sherlock
Timeline: Series 2 Episode 3, Reichenbach Fall After shooting himself in the head.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:

Jim Moriarty has a personality that most would say is pretty unpredictable, one could even say he is insane or a psychopath. It's probably been said more than once and it probably will not be the last time it's said. He acts a lot on what seems to be whim but for someone as intelligent as himself it is shown that he actually thinks through what he does. He doesn't typically let emotion get in the way of his judgment at all unless of course it is his cursed enemy, boredom (“Psychopaths get bored.”). His boredom leads him to take a few risks along the course of Sherlock. An example of the risks he takes is indeed meeting Sherlock “playing gay” and giving him his number. Andrew Scott (Moriarty's actor) confesses in an interview that James Moriarty is a very lonely unhappy man this would explain his obsession with Sherlock.

He is incredibly playful and sarcastic, often playing with Sherlock to see if he will catch on, any scene from on top of Bart's would be a good example of this. He even went as far as to fake knowing a computer code that could unlock any door and tapped it out in Sherlock's sight to see if he'd mimic it. Another good example would be how he starts up and dancing when he's stealing the crown jewels, simply to put on a show. His playfulness is from his egotism, he knows he's absurdly intelligent and likes to spice things up. He even seems to get visibly upset and pouty when he thinks he's missed something Sherlock saw.

Moriarty's personality is made up of extremes mostly. Jim doesn't just do things, he makes sure when he does something it is known who credit belongs to, unless of course he is trying to hide the fact that he did it, then no one will be able to say otherwise. He created Richard Brook and deleted James Moriarty from existence simply to frame Sherlock. His extremes aren't only with his actions, the facade he puts up is too. If he's “Angry” He's yelling and screaming about burning the heart out of Sherlock. If he's happy, he's dancing about and stealing jewels. If He's bored? He starts killing people, unless Sherlock can save them.

Jim uses people constantly, his behavior could be contributed to that of a psychopath's. He uses people's lives to lead Sherlock around on a goose chase to see how intelligent he is. He uses Sherlock to quell his boredom and he even uses Sherlock's friends to manipulate Sherlock. James Moriarty is cold and calculating, and gets what he wants no matter who he has to manipulate or destroy.

As stated previously, Moriarty is the world's only consulting criminal in Sherlock. What that means is, he helps someone plot a crime and carry it out, for a hefty fee of course, why else would he be able to buy a Westwood suit? This title of course is in rebuttal to Sherlock's own “Consulting Detective.” He is shown to have the power and influence to carry out even the most troubling crimes.

Moriarty is beyond genius level intelligence, it is speculated that he is even more intelligent that Sherlock Holmes himself, being seen to be the only one other than “The Woman” to be steps ahead of Sherlock and John. Unlike Addler, Moriarty doesn't really get “bested” by Sherlock, until he “kills himself” (I say this in parenthesis because we're not too sure what's going to happen and why Andrew (the actor of Moriarty) hasn't signed off from the next season.) to make Sherlock fall. He knows exactly how to manipulate people; he knows what exactly to do to be the perfect actor. If he didn't, he wouldn't have been able to fool so many people into thinking Sherlock was a fraud. If he wasn't brilliant at what he did there'd be no reason for the British Government to keep an eye on him.

He is shown to be spoiled, incredibly so as well. Dressing himself in expensive things and always looking his best to getting upset over Sherlock not being smart enough to outwit him. He has a lot of money and gets what he wants, always. This snobby behavior of course is made obvious with how he holds himself with such pride and dignity. This most likely came from his troubled childhood – which Andrew Scott makes mention in an interview that most of his problems stem from his childhood. It can be taken a step further to say he has issues with his dad as he makes “daddy” jokes a lot which generally have to do with “daddy” being disinterested or unhappy.

First Person:

[He awoke on a train he doesn't remember boarding. This isn't right, is he dead? Is this some sort of trick? Is Sherlock behind this? The way he exits the train is of hesitance as if the boasted Kali's Kitten is about to pounce any moment and dig sharp claws into him. It isn't fear, it's dislike of the unknown but curiosity overwhelms that.

Wide brown eyes flicker into view as Jim's video feed comes on. Curiosity evident on his face as he wiggles the device around. When he speaks there's a heavy Irish accent, voice quiet, soft:]

Oh? A recording device? What for?

[Pristine brows raise as he tilts his head a fraction of an inch.]

A strange train ride and now a strange recording device?

[His accent is of Dublin decent, made more obvious as he speaks. His attention turns from the video feed to something else off screen. Then his dusky amber gaze is staring back at the watch.]

Huh.

Third Person:
It hadn't been long but it had not been a fast trek either, even then at some point the snow began to crunch underfoot of another – alerting Sherlock of Jim's presence. Moriarty paused seeming to have decided he'd gotten close enough. It was an interesting turn of events, as usual it would be some form of amusement, from his favourite little detective.

A disgruntled noise passed the Irish man's lips when he pulled the over sized coat he decided to drown his body in in around himself tighter. “You could've chose somewhere warmer - no offer of Asian cuisine? I know this one place - open until two,” he spoke around a grin that split his face in two only providing to show off his teeth.

James paused again and let a puff of air out around the grin, then a snicker danced out of his mouth. Dark eyes were very obviously trained on Sherlock. He was a shark and his prey had invited him to this spot. “You're not even wearing your hat, I'm disappointed. But how interesting, this.” The sentence had been punctuated with a nod of his head.

The psychopath pulled the hood of his coat up before he shook his head. Disappointment. He was well aware the meeting wouldn't be a waste of his time, but it was always fun to make fun Sherlock and he was making Jim not want to help just by how standoffish he was acting. He kept a sour look on his face as he shrugged. “Daddy has things to do, people to deal with.”

“Dear Jim, I'm too good to say I need your help, but your expertise is required,” his voice had been contorted into something deeper: a mocking gesture. “Another fight with the Iceman? Won't let you know what he knows?” He nodded before another puff of warm air escaped past sharp teeth and soft pink lips. There was a hum as he thought.

“I'm afraid my expertise is required by many – this isn't all that interesting to me. I only stopped by to hear you ask nicely. Really, Sherlock, I'm flattered but why would I help you? The villain doesn't team up with the good guy – no, no no no no. Unless! Unless, are you suggesting we team up? Just for this? Or for more? We could go so far, you know.”

CHARACTER
Name: Caren Ortensia
Canon: Fate/hollow ataraxia
Timeline: Post-game
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: An enigma of a character, Caren's past and intentions throughout the Holy Grail War are generally unknown. Most of the game is spent playing her up as this mysterious figure that just happens to lead to the death of the protagonist every time he runs into her, clearly making her out to be the greatest threat of the Holy Grail War. Therefore, when one sees her, they happen to think of her as this foreboding force of evil. In actuality, Caren is unaffected by the time loop of this false Holy Grail War, and therefore doesn't follow the rules of it. That does make her an absurdity, but one with her limits.

Forgiving and religious, Caren comes off as a typical priestess. As an orphan (her mother committed suicide shortly after she was born and her father cared not for his offspring), she lived with her grandparents for most of her life before returning to Fuyuki City. This means most of her social interaction as a child was that with people twice her age, leaving her to be well-spoken and mature in her youth. Due to such, she might have difficulty forming bonds with those close to her in age, as she's quick to push away most people who want to help her.

In fact, her main character trait is to spend all of her time helping others. With no value placed on her own life, she's quick to assist people no matter the cost. One of the side stories involves the Burial Agency using her to detect demonic presences in the area due to the unique trait of her body. That is to say if there's a person nearby who's been possessed by a demon, Caren's own body will feel that exact pain. This kind of agony she submits herself willingly to, aiding those of the Church without consideration for her own life (although they value her a bit more due to how great of an indicator she is). Although she does take care of her wounds, perhaps an indication that she doesn't want to give up just yet. There's still a great deal of self-loathing deep within - for example, when she harms someone else, she apologizes to God instead of the person, in the hope that He will bestow comfort upon them as her own words are of no worth. With this trait comes the desire to help every single soul she comes across, even if they lash out to hurt her instead. There's never any anger or remorse felt for those who do harm her choosing instead to blame them on demons who force them to commit such sins.

There's a more sinister side to her that she's oblivious to and that's her teasing. If she can figure out a person's deepest secret, she will continue to tease them on it without finding humor or joy in doing so. In fact, she might be considered unaware to just how painful her words are and when it's brought up to her? She will focus instead on digging it deeper until the other party gives up. Calm despite any outrageous retorts, she'll often mention other's emotional vulnerabilities in front of their friends for full effect. Most often at times this teasing is sexual in nature (and generally inappropriate for a priestess).

As the fill in for Kirei Kotomine, she fulfills the role of not only the Fifth Holy Grail War's mediator (a person who everyone can come for details or advice), but the "Master" of both Gilgamesh and Lancer. The bond she shares with both of them is unlike the usual for any Master and Servant. In fact, it's a bit more strained, as she enjoys poking fun at them. Some may even say she drops as low as to torture them, but both men are much too prideful to admit to such. Save for maybe Ko-Gil, but that's because he plays up her cruelties while giving puppy dog eyes as a kiddo. Her relationships really define the kind of person she truly is, especially when it comes to Avenger, but more importantly when it comes to her other Servants. For example, she lacks any true Command Seals and instead they listen to her out of fear. In short, what she appears to be and what she really is are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

First Person:
A pleasant day to all who choose to listen in on this message. [ A soft-spoken girl with pale hair and golden eyes addresses her audience with a solemn gaze. ] I'm not sure how one goes about introducing themselves, but I thought I would mind my manners by doing so.

[ There's a noticeable enough pause to garner the attention of those who might have not clued in until now as she is one with a polite demeanor. Dressed as an individual associated with the church, she's careful with the positioning of her arms as she continues. ]

My name is Caren Ortensia and I am an associate of the Church in Fuyuki City. [ It spills out as a formal title, but with enough hiccup behind it to show that it's possibly a new position. ] If you are familiar with either of those terms, I would prefer to speak with you personally face-to-face. I believe the cathedral to be an appropriate place for a reunion.

[ And in a more dangerous tone: ] Please don't keep me waiting.

Third Person:
Home. A concept that many often spoke of missing, but for Caren Ortensia, home held no special meaning. She had been raised by people who cared for her, but they weren't "mother" or "father", no they were grandparents who kept her at a healthy distance due to her appearance. Who would want a child around that brought painful memories? Caren certainly wouldn't, so she understood why they treated her as they did. Not once would she say she had been mistreated; they took care of her and themselves the best they could and that meant the world to her.

However, it never really cemented itself as a home. No one could live in a house with no strong foundation and every child needs something more than a roof over their head and food on their plate. They need something like love, a concept unfamiliar to her, and something further denied to her when the Church got involved in her life. Fuyuki City could have been home, with Lancer there willing to fetch the paper every morning and Gilgamesh who would tend to the garden. The three of them made an unorthodox family, but not a functional one.

That would be why she justified not missing "home". Because she never had a true home with a true family, so why would she long to return to that country? To that world? One where she had been used (although not against her will, for she would do anything if asked) and had no one around to thank her for it? Only one person had shown her any gratitude and that had been someone who had to leave her in the end. An empty cathedral. An empty church. Both were options presented to the young woman, but neither could bring any solace to her.

Maybe she could be foolish enough to make this place her home. In doing so, wouldn't she be able to help others learn to adjust here? That would be her goal as an associate of the Church; teaching others to cope and endure when even she couldn't understand why they would want to. She'd help others find a home here and maybe in doing so, she could find something to enjoy herself.

If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:
At a first glance, Vriska appears overconfident and hot-headed. She tends not to take criticism well and will often assume that it’s a jab at her, provoking ill responses. She will quite easily and quite readily be spiteful to people and push them away.
However this aspect of her is more due to her upbringing of having to feed trolls to her lusus in order to not be killed, and as such genuinely believes that she is incapable of anything but hating people and being hated.
She knew that there was always a possibility that she may have to kill her friend, either because of having fed their friend to her lusus, or as a last resort. Because of this, she is reluctant to hold long conversations that involve actual communication instead of just ones that are her bragging about herself. This is more so if she’s on her own communicating with people she’s not familiar with; and even if she were with someone she knew, she would still not say very much in order to refrain from anyone else actually getting to know her.

Despite her lack of trust towards strangers, should she develop some sort of friendly bond towards someone, she is more likely to open up to them; such was the case with John where after she ceased trolling him and held proper conversations where she wasn’t constantly saying how great she was and eventually decided to help him.

Vriska does also have some genuine feelings, she isn’t all about kill or be killed and out to get everyone, though she is slightly paranoid that people instantly hate her. Vriska does actually care and does show some form of regret towards her actions, even if it’s not shown in the right way, she does wish to atone for her mistakes.

She still, however, does enjoying being the centre of things and though she is less likely to brag to people she knows, she’s still determined to make a “good” impression on other people and will do what she can to make her seem like the best and will find a way to make a conversation be about her.

First Person:
[Of all the things on her list of shit to do before sunrise, one of them was trek across a desert - or rather "trek across the shitty desert that makes up your shitty land and find some shitty treasure". Vriska still mutters to herself about what a stupid idea it was to write that. Why in fucks name would anyone want to hike through mile after mile after mile of sand, grit and heat.

Vriska plods through, her footprints quickly vanishing as the sand rolls back over it. The waves of heat rising off the ground causing the hoofbeasts in the distance to look distorted.

Even so, there was no mistaking that red cloak on the tiny person. The thought of how she looks so small next to the hoofbeasts causes Vriska to chuckle to herself.

Vriska approaches her slowly, hoping to scare her when she hears her name.
Damn. So close. A sheepish look spreads across Vriska's face.]

CHARACTER
Name: Tifa Lockhart
Canon: Final Fantasy 7
Timeline: Inbetween the PSX game and the film Advent Children
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: I will post accordingly, but not to the point where I am "tag stroking", if I am allowed to use such a term and if I were playing another character from the same canon.

Personality: While deceptively strong, Tifa usually acts with empahty and is quite an emotionally shy character in her series. While being able to identify and responding to the feelings of others close to her, Tifa does not express her personal feelings very often, and in the rare cases where she does, she does it rather poorly. During a moment she shares with her love interest Cloud Strife in a gondola ride, Tifa is unable to properly tell Cloud her true feelings while offering euphemisms and vague feelings. It is this inability that keeps her from also helping Cloud to make sense of his past, being unable to bare the responsibility of what transpired when their hometown was destroyed many years ago.

Tifa is a very modern woman. She isn't one to be clingy or "soft" by definition. She isn't one to hold on to feelings, and she serves as an emotional backbone to many of the people around her. During the many accounts in the game where the cast is faced with a difficult problem, Tifa is the first character to stand up and push against the challenge that face them. Often, she is even jumping into the fray before Cloud or their ally Barret. When faced with trying to uncover more about the corrupt government of their city, Tifa willingly puts herself in the line of danger in order to help her friends by infiltrating a brothel. She is fearless when it comes to anything physical, fighting for those she loves by sacrificing her own safety, even when the odds are against her.

Tifa is also a diligent and hard working woman. She spends her time caring for everyone but herself, as already stated. On the inside, she keeps the feelings of uneasiness towards the man she loves locked up, while on the outside she plays an independent and quiet persona. She has a motherly streak and tends to give sanctuary to those who need it, often becoming a shoulder to lean on. She is able to find similar spirits in her friends, being some one whom many can relate back and forth with. She has known great pain but is able to live her life and move forward, something which many of her friends are unable to do. She is a voice of reason, and does also spend a deal of time breaking up quarrels between members of her faction. For the few times that Barret and Cloud have an altercation, Tifa has been able to step in without a second thought and cease their stubborn arguing with intelligent and fair solutions.

But for as sensible as Tifa can be, she is driven by large sense of revenge, which is what initially puts her in with the terrorist group known as AVALANCHE. Only with the addition of Cloud in their party does this sense of revenge grow to its full strength as it is played out in game. For the destruction of her home town, Tifa harbors an ever burning hatred for the ShinRa corporation and all those associated with them. For as forgiving as Tifa can be, she is unable to put her past behind her. It is this revenge that pushes her to travel with Cloud, as they journey across the world in hopes of putting an end to ShinRa's tyranny, and also the wrong doings of their past encounter with Sephiroth.

First Person:
[The device comes to life in a fizzle of static and white light. Having become accustomed to such devices before, she finds the watch easier to operate than the phones back home. Currently uncertain of who might be on the other end, she speaks slow and with caution in her tone.] "To any one listening, can some one please tell me what this place is called? Where it is exactly?"

[Her head turns from side to side, taking in the surroundings with a sorrow filled sigh which escapes between her pursed lips. The device captures her puzzled look, recording her as she raises her eyebrows with worry.]

"It looks too much like home, but it can't be, can it? This isn't any section of the city I've ever seen before, if that's the case."

[She sits down on a nearby bench, tossing her hair over her left shoulder as she makes herself comfortable.] "Looks like I'm gonna' be here a while, huh?"

Third Person:

She wasn't sure what to make of the new situation. Living with a Turk? This kind of thing was unheard of! Tifa had held in her lifetime some rather personal grudges. Some she had been able to forgive, and some she had not. This fell into the later category. Though she was thankful for the offer, she wasn't completely sure how she would respond to the invitation. She deliberated over hours, imagining how their fights would play out in her head like scenes in a movie.

There was no question that she needed a roof over her head, and there were little to no other options for her at this point. This was a pickle, to say the least. Would she swallow her pride, turn her back on principles she had been holding on to for so many years? Or would she at least have the decency to politely withdraw and leave it at that?

Rubbing her tired legs as she sat down in a dusty, old chair, Tifa's thoughts became audible as she hummed and groaned over the dreadful circumstances. "At least I've got bar space", she thought aloud, "But how would I do sleeping in there every night?"

She turned her head to look upon the pocket watch she had set on the table beside her. With a dry throat and a sense of apprehension filling her from head to toe, she reached for the communicator and promptly tucked it away into the pockets of her skirt.

CHARACTER
Name: Anita Blake
Canon: Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter
Timeline: After the events of The Killing Dance (Book Six)
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A!

Personality: Very plainly, Anita is an extremely straightforward woman, sometimes to the point of being impatient. Especially when she’s on a case, she is very information-driven and doesn’t appreciate being jerked around by people who think they can outsmart her. She usually doesn’t care for people who beat around the bush, feeling it doesn’t accomplish much of anything. She goes to great lengths to make herself appear as a hardass when she’s on the job, since her very small stature as well as being a civilian and a woman are all pretty much major foils when it comes to earning professional respect. Thankfully, her deeds are pretty well-known throughout the underground culture in St. Louis, and almost every vampire and lycanthrope knows who she is – they certainly all know of The Executioner, if not “Anita Blake.”

Though she is very direct while on the job (aside from the occasional sarcastic comment for seasoning; she does have a tendency to be flippant), she is actually a fairly laid-back person in her every day life – not that she gets much downtime to begin with. She likes quiet things, like spending an afternoon in her apartment with a book, and loves musicals and traditional theater. She is also very athletic, and works out with her best friend, private detective Veronica Sims, several times a week, running together when the weather is warm and hitting the gym in the winter. Since her work for the police force and work as an executioner require her to be physical so often, she puts a very high premium on physical fitness and making sure she’s always in good shape to chase down or outrun anyone or anything she might have to. Though most people who know her professionally would never guess, she is kind of a huge dork, making a lot of pop culture references or sarcastic comments that often only end up being funny to her, since she is usually making them in the company of centuries-old vampires who wouldn’t know comedy if it walked right up to them and yanked on their overly-frilly cravat.

Anita is also much, much more old-fashioned than most people would expect. She is a very devout Christian, formerly a Catholic until the Vatican decided to excommunicate and condemn all animators. She now classifies herself as an Episcopalian. She never misses church on Sunday mornings if she can help it, and places a lot of stock in her strong faith. At the very least, it has kept her safe on countless occasions, since crosses and other such holy symbols are only effective as a ward against a vampire if the bearer truly believes in the source of its power. Despite being a dedicated Christian, however, her language is still pretty bad sometimes, especially when under stress. She does not drink alcohol and, on the whole, disapproves of it, finding drunkenness unattractive and feeling that hindering your own senses is rather foolish. She is very traditional concerning sex, and is waiting for a committed relationship, if not marriage. Her current boyfriend, Richard, has gotten her pretty close, though they have some hurdles to clear before she’ll be willing to go through with it. She has had sex in the past, when she was in college and engaged, but her fiancé broke the engagement because his family disapproved of her ethnicity. Since then, she has chosen not to give herself freely, feeling that sex is a very serious and personal matter.

She also collects stuffed penguins. They are her favorite animal, and her only vice. Her penguin collection is only rivaled by her collection of coffee mugs with hokey or vaguely-offensive slogans on them, which she primarily gathers just to bring into the office and irritate her boss, Bert. She keeps track of brownie points people earn and lose for various behaviors in her head, unbeknownst to the receivers, and loves coffee more than just about anything else under the sun. She dresses very plainly in jeans, running shoes, and polo shirts or plain tee-shirts, having little interest in fashion and preferring to keep things simple and easy to move in.

First Person: [Anita rolls her eyes as the phone rolls to voicemail. It’s not like Dolph not to answer, which probably means he’s neck-deep in the case. She had already been to the crime scene earlier that evening, and wound up taking a number of photos to compare with the pictures from two previous murders. Compare and Contrast, like one of those essays they give you in English class in high school. Except she wasn’t comparing characters now, she was comparing marks left on victims.]

Dolph, it’s me. I’ve been looking at the pictures I took earlier. It looks like the work of a lycanthrope on the surface. They all look pretty roughed up; it would be a lot neater if the culprit had used a knife. These are tears, not cuts. At least the first two are recognizable as people – second one, only barely. They’re getting progressively worse – they’re getting rougher with their toys.

There aren’t any sure signs of anything else supernatural here. They’re torn up like they were hit by animals, but some parts have obviously been eaten, and there are no critters local to the area big enough to do this. I hate to shove the blame on lycanthropes so soon, and there’s nothing concrete yet. I’m going to do a little more investigating. Call me as soon as you get this, let me know what your boys have found.

[She hangs up without saying another word. Dolph never says goodbye. It was starting to rub off.]

Third Person: Always. Always when she had somewhere to be. It was like Bert had a sixth sense about it. Anita has a date tonight? Great, let's schedule a late meeting after work. To top it off, let's make it mandatory. Can't cancel, can't postpone. Just going to have to keep your prior engagements waiting, Ms. Blake.

Thanks, Bert.

She liked to think that she didn't ask for much in the long run. She did her job and did it well; she wasn't too humble to say that she was the best animator on payroll at Animators, Inc. She knew it, Bert knew it, John and Jamison knew it. She didn't consider it being full of herself, all it took was a look at the appointment book, and the fact that Bert was willing to bargain almost anything with her to keep her on staff. But tonight, tonight was non-negotiable. Why?

Because there was a new animator coming on-board.

Wasn't that just keen. Since Larry had taken off his training wheels and stepped up to being a Big Boy Animator, it was time for her to take on another apprentice.

Because that's exactly what she needed. Someone else to look out for. Larry had let go of the apron strings some, though he went with her on routine executioner business now and then, but more than once his sense of stupid nobility nearly got the both of them killed. It took a lot to keep an eye on someone like him. Someone green.

And now she got another. Well. On the upside, she couldn't say she wasn't very fond of Larry. She was. He was like a kid brother at this point, really, and she'd do about anything for him. She really couldn't complain that they were bringing someone else on payroll, either. There were just too many appointments for the staff to handle as-is. They needed more people. They were booked solid every week, and with some of her extra-vocational activities, she wasn't exactly flexible these days.

She supposed her only real gripe was that this meeting meant she would be running late. Late for a date with the Master of the City. Jean-Claude did not like to be kept waiting. Not under any circumstances

... she would call him on her way out the door. Should have been enough.

She heard a quiet buzz from the phone; the night secretary had paged her. "Anita, Mr. Miles Kelley is here for your appointment."

"Thanks. Send him in."

Let the hazing begin.

CHARACTER
Name: Sanderson "Sandy" Mansnoozie
Canon: Rise of the Guardians
Timeline: End of the film
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Sandy is the Guardian of Dreams. Dreams are his core. But before you get to the core, he is many other things first. Creative, peaceful, talkative and fierce. These are the traits that make up the Sandman and they all play a part in how he portrays himself to others.

Creative - Using his dream sand, Sandy can create anything a child could wish more. A unicorn, a dinosaur or a manatee. These are some of the forms we've seen him make because he has such an imagination. His creative side is the most well known as without it he couldn't be the Sandman and protect the children of Earth. But it is still a very important trait to note.

Peaceful - Sandy doesn't enjoy conflict. He does, however, enjoy quiet and sleep. Not just because of his job as Guardian but we seen him sleeping while trying to be introduce to Jack at the North Pole. But being peaceful also means keeping the peace, stopping fights between the other Guardians and making sure everything goes as planned.

Talkative - This trait is quite a misnomer as Sandy never speaks one word. He has no voice so as not to disturb the children he gives dreams to and cares for with every grain of sand in his being. Instead, he talks using images above his head and when he starts, you'll find it hard to make him stop. When excited or extremely curious, those images will appear faster and faster until they cannot be understood. Thus, this trait is very important despite it's misconceptions.

Fierce - This is the trait closest to his core. Something he keep deep inside at all times. Sandy doesn't want to appear vicious in any way but when someone is threatening the children or the other guardians, he will strike back. This is evident in using his dream whips against Pitch in the battle with Jack. When he needs to be, Sandy can be very fierce and will not stand by when those he cares about are in danger.

All in all, Sandy is a very complicated Guardian and his outward appearance doesn't always reflect how he feels inside. But if you ask him, he will be glad to explain himself slower but always with his images. He'll never say a word.

First Person: [Sandy walks off the train and looks around. A question mark appears above his head in yellow dream sand and he reads the posters on the walls. Finding a watch close by, he fiddles with it until it turns on the voice setting. Not much use. So after some more encouragement, it turns onto video.

He smiles into the watch and waves The dream sand above his head moves into other shapes as he asks the questions he has, hoping one or more of the other guardians are here to explain things to him. He also hopes there are children here so he can he seen. A place of adults and he'd be as bad as Jack Frost! Chuckling to himself, he sat down on one of the benches to think about his next actions. But he did create a large dream sand arrow pointing over the train station. Maybe someone would investigate?]

Third Person: This was Pitch's fault. It was always Pitch's fault. Unless you asked Bunny, then it was Jack's fault. But even he couldn't turn his dreams into nightmares and why would he? Jack was a good kid after all. Pitch on the other hand, was black through and through and Sandy knew he'd have to be the one to set him straight. As usual.

He couldn't believe that after all this time, his worst enemy, the worst enemy of all the guardians, was finally back and doing his best to undermine their power. And with his own sand no less. This was not how things should be. Maybe Manny was right, they did need an extra Guardian. Despite objections, he seemed like he could be useful and Sandy was willing to give him the chance.

He climbed into his sand created plane and head off in the direction of the black sand. The nightmares. It was Pitch or him this time. And he was not going down without a fight!

[CANON] Castiel || Supernatural || no reserve || 2 of 3

[personal profile] haloslipping 2013-01-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Castiel is, as his name indicates, an angel of the Lord, the first introduced in the show, and he was the one to raise Dean from the grips of Hell. As an angel, he shows little to no ability to understand and express basic human emotions. He also displays a severe lack of empathy towards human beings, and is quick to show his often lack of care for the species as anything other than a creation of his father.

At first, he gives little room for feelings or disobedience; he finds both, much like free will, to be frivolous and unnecessary. In time, he starts expressing doubt in the orders he's given, and the morality of these same orders. Although it is often hinted that angels probably don't have the ability to truly feel emotion, he gradually displays something akin to friendly affection towards Dean - even if he still has little patience for his whines and complaints. The more he interacts with the Winchester brothers, the more he develops an empathy and affection for not only Dean, Sam and others who are close to him, but also for the human race in general. This attachment gets his superiors to begin questioning his loyalty, as they fear that his feelings are clouding his judgements and that he is no longer reliable to carry on his mission.

Eventually he rebels against heaven and is stripped of his angelic abilities, and finds himself forced to interact more with humans. It's during this period that he develops the most in a humanistic sense. He is shown to be inadequate, improper and socially awkward, and to have a lack of understanding for social normatives. He displays a cold, distant behavior towards others, and he keeps a tense and stoic presence at all times. He often shows confusion and inability in processing the nuances in human behavior and interaction. His responses, if any, are unbalanced to what others say and do in casual circumstances. More often than not he will not understand jokes or pranks, and hints, metaphors and manners of speech are completely lost on him - this, along with the fact that he's extremely technologically challenged, makes for some strange yet awkwardly funny moments.

Castiel is a creature of faith; even after being rejected by heaven, and being proven that his father and brothers don't care nearly as much as he thought they did, he still aims to stop the Apocalypse. He joins the Winchesters in their fight, and truly believes in their methods and that there are always other paths, other ways to solve things. He is loyal and dedicated, both when he follows his father's orders and when he leaves Heaven to fight alongside the brothers. He trusts others, sometimes too easily, and he can sometimes be gullible and naive, unable to see past the facade of some when they are trying to trick him - especially if he cares for or trusts them. He is honest and blunt with his words, and has a hard time lying when necessary.

Although he shows to have a conscience, and to care about humanity's well being, he is still willing to kill innocents if the need arises. On occasion, he even comes close to expressing feelings of regret, hesitance and anger. His intentions are nothing but good and honest, but he doesn't always foresee the most nefarious consequences of his actions, even when these are obvious.

By exposing himself to humanity, he rediscovers his own. Throughout the story, he goes through a humanizing process of sorts. He is a deeply conflicted character who shows incredible strength in his beliefs at times, yet at others it is shown that his faith and trust stands unbalanced on the tip of a sharp blade. In that sense, he can be a little volatile and unpredictable, and his own abilities seem to be affected by how shaken his faith is at that particular moment. He will, most of all, always hold inner struggles on what's normal or not, sane or crazy, right or wrong, good or evil - and try to find a ground that's stable enough for him to stand on. Even if, most of the times, he can't.

CHARACTER
Name: Phoenix Wright
Canon: Ace Attorney.
Timeline: Post Game 3, before the career-ending trial in Game 4.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Outwardly, Phoenix is a pretty mild-mannered sort of guy. He's easily intimidated, doesn't like to make more of a fuss than strictly necessary, and while he can be prone to emotional outbursts, he's not the sort of guy who homes in on conflict. Most of his less diplomatic comments are kept to himself (or attempted, anyway; he occasionally illustrates exactly what he's thinking on his face). In short, he's generally an everyman.

Until you get him to court.

Phoenix is a turnabout specialist, a guy who can take a seemingly hopeless case and turn it into a victory. Typically, this ends up by the skin of his teeth, thanks primarily to functioning within a court system antagonistic towards defense attorneys, who are seen as obstructing a quick, simple flow of getting as many criminals in jail as possible. But when he truly, honestly believes in the innocence of his client, he's ferocious, exploiting every weakness in a testimony, every seemingly innocuous piece of evidence. And he WILL believe in his clients; he never takes the cases of those who want him only to game the system, as his belief in the law requires him to have faith in his clients. His departed mentor, Mia Fey, taught him everything he knows, including how to think outside the box, and he holds to these teachings dearly.

Phoenix believes in truth and justice over victory. He will fight for his clients, sure, but only to ensure that the full story behind any crime comes out. A true lawyer, in his experience, works with the prosecution to ensure that every loose end, every possible alternate explanation or contradiction, has been ironed out, leaving nothing but the full, undiluted truth. The truth hurts sometimes, and may even cause pain to those he loves, but it has to be put out there. Leave a story incomplete, and justice cannot be achieved. It is only when everything is out there, warts and all, that judgment can be passed.

That said, Phoenix is also fiercely loyal to friends. He is most motivated when he has a personal stake in a case, usually a friend who is either on trial or in danger, and can otherwise be somewhat lazy and overly selective in his clients. Unfortunately, his loyalty also tends to bring out his rashest decisions, which more often than not hurt more than help. Still, you can count on him to defend you to the end -- and, perhaps, even sacrifice himself if that's what it takes to ensure your safety.

First Person: Am I the only one who finds the emptiness of this place kind of creepy? I mean, this place is HUGE. Maybe not as big as LA, mind, but it's really big. But there's absolutely nobody around. So why do you suppose everybody left? And more importantly, why did it pick people like us to reinhabit it? It's just... I don't know. It feels wrong. Or weird, or something.

I'd ask "why a pocketwatch" too, but I think I'm already asking enough unanswerable questions right now as IS.

A-anyway, don't mind me. I'm just wondering aloud, I guess.

Third Person: Phoenix didn't get a lot of things in life. Like tax forms. Or certain jokes. Or the designs of a universe that decided that a pointy-haired lawyer would be an ideal candidate for interdimensional shanghaing.

But mysteries? He got those. In spades.

The situation overall was a little muddy. But the final result had been concrete: someone was comotose, another person was missing, and either that missing person was the culprit, or she wasn't. Most folks, naturally, were leaning towards the former. After all, if she hadn't been responsible, why would she have disappeared?

Phoenix wasn't so sure about that. There were too many incongruities, too many things that didn't fit into what he knew of her. Which was why he was currently looking around the scene where the unconscious victim had been found. Maybe the course would go to court, as small as the population was. Maybe it wouldn't. He was especially worried about that considering some of the residents of the city weren't exactly hesitant about vigilante justice. Either way, he felt it his duty to get to the truth no matter what, for her sake.

Although really, getting to the truth in THIS mess is going to be tough. Did they have to knock over EVERYTHING in here?

He continued looking. No stone left unturned. Nothing written off as insignificant. You never knew what would be vital -- or what could save a person's life.
